Post-Thanksgiving Footer
I hope that all of you enjoyed a relaxing Thanksgiving with family and friends as much as we did at The Cottage. I'm up at the crack of dawn to follow Leeds' road trip to Barnsley. Last time out, we were on a hiding to nothing at Molineux, but an away win at Barnsley is certainly on the cards. We need the three points for sure. After that early morsel, we've got the usual 10am kickoffs, including Man Utd hosting Brighton. And finally at the end of the day, we've got the day's big one - Liverpool v. Chelsea. Join me for all the action this morning.

The team news out of Barnsley this morning:
Barnsley - Davies, Yiadom, MacDonald, Lindsay, Fryers, Williams, Hammill, Potts, Moncur, Barnes, Bradshaw. Subs: McCarthy, McGeehan, Ugbo, Gardner, Adeboyejo, Walton, Hedges.
Leeds - Wiedwald, Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, Berardi, O'Kane, Phillips, Alioski, Saiz, Hernandez, Ekuban. Subs: Lonergan, Pennington, Roofe, Anita, Grot, Sacko, Shaughnessy.
We start out in 10th with Barnsley in 17th. However, while we've lost four of our last five, Barnsley have been on a decent run with two wins and two draws in their last five. Let's hope we don't slip up this morning.
The coverage from Oakwell has started on ESPN.
We're about to get underway. Barnsley in their usual red and white kit; we're in what seems to be all black.
Oh - we're out of the traps early and Ekuban had an early chance. Wins a corner.
Hernandez wins another corner, and it's been a great start for us. We just need to capitalize on it.
And a third corner now.
Barnsley break and Jansson concedes a foul and picks up an early yellow card. He'll need to mind his manners from here on in.
A win today would bring us level with Derby and Middesboro in contention for that last playoff spot.
Pablo wins a fourth corner for us in the first ten minutes.
Oh - Alioski had a go when the ball came back out but it was well wide.
I like how hard the midfielders are working to scrap away to get the ball back when it's loose. We're winning a lot of second balls.
Handbags now between Barnes and Ayling and nearly the whole 22 are involved.
Referee is having a word with the two players now - should be yellow cards all round.
Jansson nearly let Barnsley in there but he recovered well.
Wiedwald has been supplied with a cap to help him with the sun. It looks as if a supporter gave it to him.
YES! Sammy Saiz is back on the scoresheet! And it no less than what we deserved for a bright start to this one. 1-0 Whites!
Oh - another great move ends with a scuffed shot by Kalvin. Still - we're looking good for this lead.
Sammy picks up a nice free kick chance now about 35 yards out.
Pablo strikes it straight into the wall, unfortunately, and it allows Barnsley to spring an attack.
Referee is letting a lot go this morning.
Ten minutes to go before the interval. I'd love the cushion of a second goal before then.
First corner for Barnsley then.
Oh - Lindsay got behind Cooper but couldn't steer his header on goal, fortunately.
Ekuban has a head knock now. Needs a bit of treatment.
Morning Bob
Just turned not the link
So far so good
Have they been on top?
When did they score?
Three minutes of stoppage time to come.
Barnes is getting close to his last warning now, as he upends Ayling once again.
Oh - Ayling put a lovely ball across the six yard box but no one claimed it.
I will be around for the ten o'clockers this morning but will not be around for the Big One of the day
My friend Walt 's daughter is having a baby shower and all the guys are going to the Biergarten in Schenectady to watch the match
Saiz does well to win another corner for us. Into the last minute now.
Morning, UWS - great to have you on board this morning, if only for a bit of the time. Give my best to Walt.
You're ignoring Dr Bob!
YES!!
Great goal!!!!
YES! Another lovely goal for us, this time from Alioski, who's now scored three in three matches. Great time to score for us. 2-0 going into half-time.
Last kick of the half!!
Delighted with that performance and scoreline. Off for a half-time snuggle.
Back for the second half now. Apparently we could have had a penalty there - decent shout.
We're going for more goals, for sure. Good outing for us so far.
Pablo picks up a yellow for a niggly one.
I am going to be here for most of this half but I have to take Shad for a walk before the REAL United's match
I would have preferred Leeds wearing their white shirts today. They could have worn blue shorts
How was he so wide open on the left!!
Blew it with the cross!
O'Kane is not going to be able to continue, so Connor Shaughnessy is going to replace him.
Wonder when the last time the Red Devils played the Seagulls?
Was it the '83 Cup Final Replay
I'll have to google it
Jansson gets a bollocking from the ref - he's got to be careful now.
An hour gone in the Yorkshire Derby and we're still looking good for this lead.
Nope they have met twice since that 4 nil thumping
Oct 7, 1992 League Cup...United won 1-0
Jan 23, 1993 FA Cup....United won 1-0
Oh - Pablo found Caleb Ekuban really well but he could only find the side netting. Not liking his conversion rate - only one goal this season.
You lot should be good for the win today, for sure.
MOT!
United have played Brighton 16 times
They have won 10, Drawn 5 Lost 1
Only loss was a League game in the 82-83 season...the season they met in the Cup Final
The game's got a bit scrappy now.
Oh - Cooper had a free header there but merely flicked it into the keeper's hands.
Hope there are quite a few people at the late match this afternoon.
We went there before when Walt didn't know what to do with this soon to be son-in-law during the bridal shower. I suggested the Biergarten
He's from Chile so World Cup mocking will be in use today
Hammier nearly found a way through but was well blocked out.
Bradshaw with good run
A goal either way will be so crucial
Sounds like a good day out for you lot.
F1 qualifying is on NBCSN until 9:30
Better not go long!
Great run from Sammy but when he lays it off to Ekuban, he back passes it to the keeper.
Barnsley have a corner now - mark up, lads!
United's Line Up
De Gea
Valencia
Lindeloff
Young
Matic
Pogba
Rashford
Martial
Lukaku
Bench
Romero, Rojo, Fellaini, Herrera, McTominay, Miki, Ibra
Jansson again fouls Hammill.
You've only posted a starting nine! Surely you're playing some center backs today, no?
Two Barnsley changes now - just about fifteen minutes left for us to run this one out.
oops
Skipped Smalling and Young
Nope Smalling an Mata
Oh - Gardner had a chance there but back passed it to Wiedwald, fortunately.
Oh - an acrobatic effort from Ali but well over.
I hope United are in better form than me today!!!
De Gea, Valencia, Lindelof, Smalling, Young, Matic, Pogba, Mata, Rashford, Martial and Lukaku!!!
GOT IT!!
Phew - that was a close call. Barnsley should have scored there.
I'll stay here till the end of this one and then go for a the walk
There will be time
Berardi loses the ball and then fouls Yiadom. Stupidity.
Fortunately, it's fizzed all the way out without any of their lot attacking it.
Kemar Roofe coming on for Ekuban, fortunately. He's been poor today.
Leeds fans giving it to the Barnsley players from rotten defending and clearing
Pablo tries his luck from distance - well over the bar.
I agree - Barnsley shouldn't even have a sniff. They're really poor.
Mr Ponytail... the wrestler from last week...needs to KADUMPH the ball away.... didn't clear it and was blocked!
Never a pen there
Big shout for a handball against MacDonald there. Nothing doing from the ref. Corner.
Leeds pushing a lot of players up for that corner. They were stretched as Barnsley broke.... luckily a crap pass saves the Blacks!!
Crucial clearance by Cooper
They score now and it will be squeaky bum time....like last weekend
Another corner cleared out. We've done reasonably well at set pieces today.
A late substitution to eat up some time; Alioski coming off and Grot coming on.
Too much pressure late on here; not liking it.
Good morning, Bob and Dave. Just woke up. Congratulations on the two goal lead. I will be back for the 10 AM matches,.
Morning, MUR! I'll be happy with this one in a few minutes.
That's it
Leeds have a great 2-0 away win
Crucial last second first half goal
Congrats
I am off for walkies
I'll be back for the 10 o'clockers
Wahay! We've run out 0-2 winners. Our up and down form continues. We've either lost or won this season. Today, foruntately, it's a nice away win at our Yorkshire rivals. So, 9 wins now and we're back up near the playoff spots.
Hiya, boys - I'm back from a refreshing shower having enjoyed a rare winning morning with the lads. United about to get us underway at OT. Come on, you Red Devils.
They're off from OT and Wembely.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Kate doesn't like the corporate slogan on Chris Hughton's jacket.
A United shot takes a Chunk out of Row H
I agree with Kate.
GOAL !!! THE BAGGIES TAKE A SURPRISE LEAD AT WEMBLEY
Rondon has scored an early away goal at Wembley against Spurs. The hoodoo continues....
I am back from walkies... 5 min in
Have United started slowly?
Baggies one up at Wemberlee
The Spuds coughed up the ball in midfield and a through ball was runned on to a Baggies striker through on goal, who scored with just LLoris to beat.
United blew that chance
Welcome back. The Seagulls had a chance to score seconds before you typed your comment.
Young tries a cross...he is most dangerous player!
Looks like Gary Megson is in charge of the Baggies. Is that in an interim role?
The Fake Dons are in the lead at Donny Trump.
Yes he is
It finished Desomnd as Jayne Mansfield was the host with some Chesterfields. Not sure if I want to watch that.
Apparently, Barnsley manager Paul Heckinbottom lost his head after the final whistle and had a right go at the fourth official. Should be a ban coming for him, then.
What was there to complain about??
Thanks, Dave. I think was their actual manager about fifteen years ago. Also didn't recognize them with Kelly Green shirts.
Nice move by Rashford but then just tried to pass it thru an opposing defender
Sounds like he deserves a minimum of three matches.
Gross shoots straight at De Gea.
Congratulations on a great win, Bob. Well in.
Mr. Grimsby in the lead at Barnet or is it the haircut 100?
This front line of United should be be going right at them!!
Martial, Rash and Luk with Pogs....ATTACK
Forest Green in the lead in the first ever all Gloucestershire contest in the Footie League. Abe Lincoln in the lead vs Pot Vale./ Well done, newly promoted sides.
Cheers, mate - it's been that kind of season. Either we're winning or we're losing. That's 9 wins, 9 losses and only two draws.
The Rams in the lead at the Riverside.
Young does well on the left but the cross is crap
Wolves take a shock lead vs Bolton.
Big shout for a penalty as the Karate Kid goes down. Nothing doing.
Shocking.
I guess fans of the beautiful game will be sad that Pulis was axed, especially Bob.
Brighton being more decisive than United
Our two playoff rivals are playing today - Derby are 1-0 up over Boro.
I think it would be a Knaockaeet if he was signed for United. He's a United type of player.
Not one bit - Pulis should be banned from football for being so boring.
Wasall in the lead at the Real Dons
Wigan in the lead at Rotherham. Both were relegated from the Championship.
I want United to entertain me!!!!
Hornets take the lead at the Magpies
With Pulis walking the plank, I felt a feeling of deja vu when I saw the turkey neck and gizzards. Your thoughts? They were well shaved.
Will Hughes has fired Watford into the lead at SJP.
It's been all Newcastle but.....0-1
Did that turkey have the trademark shell suit on?
The platinum haired Will Hughes with goals in consecutive matches for the Hornets.
United singing Christmas carols!
Five Can-ton-as
I did see some loose skin, but the suit was nowhere to be seen.
How about singing about some United goals?
No home goals in the Prem yet
Only two men in the box for that cross that Lukaku turned his back for the header
GET PLAYERS IN THE BOX!!
Silly United fans - there is only one King Eric.
I think that backward facing header was the first time Seagull's keeper was needed
Here King Eric's comment this week?
He likes Jose but prefers Pep because his team entertains ala Fergie and Busby
United just don't look like they can be creative
Back from the bog. Did I miss any goals?
The king is correct about Pep's team this season. They're scoring tons of goals.
Not at all - you are not afflicted by the Nocito Curse.
I was watching that website with all those channels
On BBC4 I was watching TOTP from the late 70s
Boomtown Rats, Madness, Joe Jackson, The Specials... the Nolan Sisters(remember them) I didn't until I saw them
I LOVE this website...watching OFAH right now
Wolves are 2-0 up her Leo Bonatini. They are flying at the moment.
Wolves two up vs Bolton. Just to ,let you know this is a loaded team. The manager was in charge of Porto last season and signed good Portugeese and Brazi players
It is pouring!!!
It's pouring in Manchester. There''s a shocker.
It's raining Devils and Gulls
The rain is teeming down not in Manchester.
What has Pogba done today?
I wouldn't be surprised to see Wolves in the Prem top ten next season.
Brighton are more dangerous
Rash wins a corner off of smoking Bong.
Rashford still can't figure out the physics of the ball can't travel thru a solid object
Pompey in the lead vs Argyle in a battle of sides promoted from L2. Congrats, Dave.
Play Up Pompey
Wigan lead 1-2 at Rotherham and it's 1-1 between Southend and Oxford Shoes.
Didn't score in Switzerland for 90 minutes and now another 35
Daggenham won 0-4 at Chester. Bottom of the table Fawlty Towers two up vs the Orient Express as is Tranny vs Maid Stone.
Mata had a chance to take space right into the box... just passed it wide..... BLOODY HELL
Why do I know what to do and these guys don't
Not a good week for United . Consecutive flat performances then play in midweek.
Ebssfleet in the lead vs Jeff's lads.
Wasall two up at the Real Dons.
Frazier Campbell, one of your old boys, has fired Hull into the lead against high-flying Bristol City.
Rochdale in the lead vs Posh
Aston Villa’s march continues: Albert Adomah has bagged his fourth in the last three games to put them 1-0 up over Ipswich at Villa Park.
Not a good return to CR for Alex Neill the Canaries take the lead vs PNE
Still no home Prem goals.
If Glenn Murray had made decent contact from the free kick then the Seagulls would have taken the lead.
A United counter comes to naught.
The Real Dons pull one back vs Wasall . Now 1-2.
Jose blames the players
What about you Jose?
The difference between Jose and Fergie, Atkinson, Docherty and Busby.....Jose's main aim... go out to not LOSE the game.....the rest of them....go out to WIN the game
Rochdale two up vs Posh
Why is the Premiership so bad? Barely any goals at all.
Everyone playing today has the Jose tactic in mind
Cheltenham tie it up at Forest Green in local derby.
I guess that's it.
Especially, the Baggies , holding on their lead at Wembley.
I was just reading an article in When Saturday Comes that suggested that the three points for a win rule that was introduced back in the 80s has never really worked.
ooh, how did that not go in!
Lukaku's header then Pogba's rebound
Bugger
OH!!!! Matty Ryan superbly saves a close range header from the Chunk off a great Rash cross then saves the rebound from Pogba. The best United attack of the match
Is Pogba hurt?
Seems to be up
Into stoppage time at OT and Wembely
Probably true, Bob. About the same as with two points for a win.
It's 0-0 at the half at OT. Off to the match on CNBC
A clash of heads between teammates, Hegazi and Jonny Evans.
Half time
Bloody useless
Watford double their lead at SJP
The Baggies have a surprise halftime lead at Wembley
The Hornets must have just scored.
When you look at the United sides of old
In the same side all at once were Giggs, Becks, Scholes, Cole and Yorke
Giggs, Becks, Scholes, Sherry, Ole
Giggs Becks, Scholes VNR, Sah
Giggs, Ronny, Rooney, Berba, Tevez
It was an OG by Yank international, Yeltsin.
Here we go for the second half.... COME ON UNITED!!!!
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Here's a thought.... go forward, attack with pace... SCORE
The second half is underway from OT!
