Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Wahay! The coverage has started for today's visit of Gary Monk, Jonny Howson and co. on ESPN3. Great stream.
And we're away at Elland Road. Come on, you Whites!
Let's hope that Andy Lonergan has shaken off whatever demons were possessing him last time out against Brentford.
Slow start for us here, with Boro making all the early running. Early free kick for them now.
Not liking this start to the match at all.
Jonny Howson has come back to haunt us; he's bossing this match.
Asombalomba is making a lot of noise about a penalty there from that corner. And it looked like a decent shout. We got off the hook for that one.
First good moment for us. Saiz finds the by-line and zings in a cross. Cleared out.
More possession from us now. We seem to have weathered that earlier patch.
Good morning, Bob. I overslept a bit, but am here to support you.
MOT!
Jansson fouls Tavernier
I would honestly take a point here today. It would at least break the pattern of the last two months.
Morning, MUR - great to have you on board. Thanks for the support.
I'm sure you would love Leeds to stick to Monk to show he made a mistake by leaving ER.
Cheers. Glad to help.
Lonergan does well to push away a long range effort from Ten Downing Street.
Oh - Asombalomba zipped a dangerous ball across the six yard box. No one following in. Then Downing tries a pop and Lonergan tips over.
Tavernier heads wide from the corner.
I would, yeah. We've already taught Chris Wood and Liam Bridcutt that lesson this season. It would be nice to show Monk and Howson up today.
I'm sure you would love to emulate the Danes by putting five past Darren Randolph.
Absolutely. Aren't Franciscan monks supposed to take a vow of silence.
Yes, indeed. Perhaps he's still shell-shocked?
I believe so, yes. Perhaps we can shut up this Monk as well.
YESSSSSS!!!!!!
Pablo ghosts in around the back and knocks home a tasty Alioski cross!
1-0 Whites!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! PABLO HERNANDEZ GIVES THE WHITES THE LEEDS AS A GOOD CROSS FROM ALIOSKI WAS HEADED ON BY KAL PHILLIPS AND HERNANDEZ TUCKED IT IN AT THE FAR POST.
The player that scores is the one that Monk brought to ER! Great plot.
That's four goals now for Pablo - a great return so far for our midfield impresario.
We've got our tails up now. Alioski is proving an excellent outlet on the right.
Alsoski wins a challenge that was anything but friendly as the corner flag prevented the corner initially. The yellow card does not seem like Friend to the Boro defender.
Nice free kick chance now, with Friend proving no friend of Alioski there.
Ah - Saiz had a chance when the ball dropped to him but he just couldn't get over it.
The free kick is headed down and the shot is anything but Pre Saiz as it's lofted over.
We love using the friend pun . Leeds has no business being a Friend of Monk or Howson.
Berardi picks up the match's first yellow card with a rash dive in.
Berardi a bit agricultural with a challenge on Roberts and booked for that
We are the punmeisters, mate.
Sorry, mate, but our "Friend " was booked a minute earlier for the naughty challenge by the corner flag.
Now Jansson booked for Leeds. Will he be going to Russia this summer?
And now a yellow for a silly shove off by Jansson. We need to calm down.
Absolutely. We do try.
Presumably, yes. I don't think he starts for Sweden but he would be a useful squad player for them.
Lonergan punches away a corner.
Lonergan punches away a corner now. Wish he could hold onto those.
Middlesbrough has Martin Braithwaite, who was in the Danish squad in the two legs vs the Irish.
Is Wiedwald on the bench today?
Lovely acrobatic effort there from Alioski on the sideline. One for the highlight reels.
I would assume so, yes. I'm still not sure why he fell out of favor with the boss.
Tavernier will feel like going to the tavern for a post match beverage.
I could use a half-time whistle right about now.
Climbing shows that Alioski did not have a friend there.
Pablo has a chance to swing in a free kick to the big boys now.
Oh - Cooper got on the end of it but nodded it just wide.
The free kick was headed just wide by Mini Cooper. Randolph appeared to have it covered. Mortimer would have been beaten.
Alioski blasts a shot off a defender and picks up another corner. We're finishing this half well.
A naughty challenge by the Tavern goes unpunished.
Agreed. This has been a much improved Leeds performance.
Hey Boys
I am here for the last couple of minutes of the half
Had no power this morning
I have it on my Apple TV so I am watching on the telly and not the laptop
Congrats Bob on the lead
Have they played well?
Is it deserved?
A triplet of minutes of stoppage time. That's quite a few minutes.
Three minutes of stoppage time to come now.
Good morning, Dave. Great to have you join us. It's been a fairly good first half.
Some tricky footwork from Jansson earns another great free kick chance now.
Free kick chance.... doesn't beat the first man.... I JUST DON'T GET IT!!!
Again - the free kick hits the first man. So frustrating.
Assambalonga runs the ball out of pl;ay as he fails to get past Mini Cooper.
Morning, UWS! Great to have you on board for this one. Glad to hear that your power is back.
Halt time
Halfway there
I would love the cushion of a second goal before half time, but that's it. We're 1-0 up at the interval for the first time in yonks. I like the feeling.
Leeds one up half. The goal , ironically , was scored by Pablo Hernandez, the man that Boro boss, Garry Monk brought to ER
The second half is underway from ER.
MOT!
The Whites get us underway in the second half. Very happy with proceedings so far. More of the same, boys.
Come on Leeds
aN aYLING EFFORT IS BLASTED OVER FOR lEEDS.
Monk was ten second late coming out for the second half. Poor form on his part.
Leeds is on Watch ESPN on Saturday as they are away to Barnsley in the only early match of the day.
Jansson clears for a Boro corner.
Jansson gives up a corner early doors - Boro have come out the same way they started the match.
So much for Monk taking a vow of silence.
Tavernier blasts over from close range. I'll drink to that
Tavernier had a chance there but his touch let him down. Blasted well over. Lovely.
YESSSS!!!!!
Alioski knocks home a great cross from Berardi at the backpost.
THEN GOAL!!!! ALIOSKI SLIDES IN TO PUT LEEDS TWO UP. HERNANDEZ COLLECTED A NICE PASS DOWN THE LEFT AND HIS PASS ACROSS THE BOX WAS DIVERTED IN AT THE FAR POST.
The Tavern volleys wide off a cross by Friend and is now replaced by M. Johnson
Oh - Saiz hits the post with a raking right-footed drive!
OH!!!! Saiz has a shot come off the post off a one two with Viera.
I've just noticed that the ball has turned yellow already. No snow in sight!
Will you perform the Gregorian chant to celebrate a win vs Monk?
I think it's used based on the time of year. Isn't the orange ball used for snow, LOL?
I will indeed.
A shot from Braithwiate results in a Boro corner, but Ayling didn't appear to get a touch. Now Leeds counter. Alioski wins a free kick off of Howson.
Oh - Cooper ghosted in at the free kick and had a free header. Put it wide!
Mini Cooper should have put Leeds three up as he was wide open , but headed well wide from the free kick.
Downing tries a pot shot and Lonergan should have touched it around even though it was going wide.
Lonergan turns around a shot from Ten Downing Street that was off target. Sounds like Teresa May's remarks.
George Friend coming off and Traore coming on.
George Friend feels like he's being treated like anything but as he's replaced by the more attack minded Adama Traore.
We'll need to watch Traore, who's got some real pace down the right.
Sorry... I had to drop off a coupon at the store for Kath
Missed the goal...congrats
Ayala gives up a corner - that will take some pressure off.
Leeds win a corner thanks a less than Pre Saiz header from Ayala.
Oh - Cooper had another chance but mistimed his jump this time.
The corner from Alioski was just too high for Mini Cooper.
Welcome back. You're power can bring us a third Leeds goal. Monk and Howson need to be taught a lesson.
A long range effort from Assonablonga is wide.
Phew - Assambalomba fizzes one wide of the target.
Ashley Fletcher coming on to replace skipper Ledbetter.
The final roll of the dice from Monk as former Man Yoo trainee, Ashley Fletcher, is on for Grant Ledbitter. A striker for a defensive middie.
Where would this put Leeds in the table?
Caleb Ekuban on for Kemar Roofe, or about to come on.
Kemar Roofe coming off now - he's been ineffectual today.
We'd leapfrog a bunch of team including Boro back up to sixth and the playoffs. A true six pointer.
If this is the final score then Leeds would go up to sixth where Boro started the match.
Boro corner now - mark up, lads!
Some argybargy now - what's going on?!
Bugger! Luke Ayling has given up a stupid penalty.
This will add time. Ref's given a penalty!!!
A conference between the ref and his assistant after a collission between Ayling and Ayala.
BUGGER!! BORO IS AWARDED A PENALTY .AYALA INITIALLY FOULED AYLING PRIOR TO THE RUGBY TACKLE BY AYLING. THE REF MISSED THE FIRST CHALLENGE.
Struth...he was pulled down and then he rugby tackled him!!
What about the first foul?
Ayling was booked as well.
Assamablonga steps up to take the spot kick....
and he converts. 2-1.
BUGGER!!! ASSOMBALONGA SCORES FROM THE SPOT.
It was stupid of him to rugby tackle him but it was a foul to start!
Now we've got to weather a tough last ten minutes due to some stupidity.
They say it's always the second challenge that the ref spots.
Terrible decision by the ref...and the defender
Now that change can be made.
Ekuban on for Roofe about five minutes later than originally planned.
Taken forever to restart.... there is going to be a lot of time to be added... more advantage for Boro
Free kick for us now - we need another goal, please.
The attendance is just under 34,000. A great turnout.
Well done Leeds
Just under 34,000
I would expect about half a dozen minutes of stoppage time./
At least
This has to be changed
The time added is so random and always seems to favor one team or another
Monk needs to take a vow of silence.
Come on Ref... give a pen the other way!!
Phew - that could have gone anywhere!
Struth... just wide on the deflection
I'd have Luke Ayling off now - he's really hotheaded.
PHEW!!!! The long range effort from Braithwiate takes a weird deflection off of Jansson inches wide then Ayala is called for a push to end the Boro spell of pressure as A Assombalonga is booked.
Is he the 'rugby' player?
Agreed, Dave. Some of the decisions for added time are mind baffling.
Now it's Phillips into the book - that's seven yellow cards in a testy match.
Kalvin Phillips is now booked.
Correct, Dave. He is the one that made the rugger tackle.
Good move from the boss - O'Kane to come on to shore things up. Saiz off.
I was dead against it but I am starting to think about having a clock that stopped. All the time wasting on the rolling on the ground and all the stupid substitutions would stop... there would be no point!!
Pre Saizly what is needed as Eunan O'Kane comes on in his place.
Player being subbed and shaking the hand of ref... just so much crap these days
What's wrong with a friendly handshake?
That may work. Would there be too many stoppages? Either way, something needs to be done.
Just made the ref remember to add a little bit more time!!
Bloody hell - Vieira coughs up the ball in a dangerous area and Howson wins a corner.
7 minutes!
BLOODY HELL !!! tHE REF IS SO THIRSTY THAT HE ADDS SEVEN UP MINUTES OF STOPPAGE TIME.
In college there is a clock and the ref stops it when it needs to be stopped. It works well. I always didn't like it that you knew how much time was left and didn't have a chance of getting the ball down the other end but THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!
SEVEN minutes
SHUT IT , MONK. TAKE A VOW OF SILENCE!
Ah - Alioski should have corner flagged it but instead he ran it out of play.
pABLO hERNANDEZ TRIPS tRAORE.
It is squeaky bum time, for sure.
He is the latest player booked.
Nail biting time for Bob.
MOT!
Late, late change - Pennington coming on for Alioski who will take his time trudging off.
Chance for break... useless pass
More substitutions... the ref will just add more time
Nearly five minutes of stoppage time done now.
The final roll of the dice for Christiansen as Matty Pennington is on for Alioski to help shore up the defense.
Traore is fouled again. Sigh.
I also hate the each team complains but will do the same thing
This guy has taken an age to get off.. how much time will the ref to the seven
Probably about three more minutes to hold on.
Another corner now.
Ayala nods over and hopefully that will be that.
Thankfully, Ayala heads high and wide from a corner.,
Header over the top
Was that the last chance?
Phew - the ref blows for a foul. Surely that's that.
Added time of added time!
Ref calls a free kick
Just blow up ref
You just want to be the star!!
YES! We're finally back on track. Eight wins on the season now and back up into the playoff slots.
Yes! Leeds hold on to win 2-1 to stick to Monk and Howson.
CONGRATS, Bob. You must be delighted.
Also, congrats on being in a playoff spot.
Now it is 8... It is over
Congrats!!
That is useless...the ref yells at the keeper to stop wasting time taking a goal kick and then blows it when it is in the air...JUST BLOW UP BEFORE HE KICKS IT INSTEAD OF YELLING AT HIM!!
The late match from Vicarage Road is the Hornets vs the Hammers where Moyes makes his debut as Hammers manager.
Johnno can ask Fred or one of the two Daves what it's like to be one of Moyes Boys.
Off to take Sparky walkies on a cool breezy morning.
Off from Vicarage Road and a Hornet gets injured ten seconds into his debut and may need to be substituted. Cholevas warming up
Plar resumes after a stoppage of three plas minutes, How will Moyes Boys fare?
Play resumes as the debutant continues . Kabesele then down , but up holding his chest. Andy Carroll involved in both challenges.
GOAL !!!! WILL HUGHES. SIGNED FROM THE RAMS, GIVES THE HORNETS THE LEAD.
Richarkison passed back to Zegellar, who had been down injured. His cross was not properly headed away, then a miss kick fell to Will Hughes , who blasted in from about four yards out.
Andy Carroll booked after fouling Richarlison. Probably booked for cumulative infractions as he's had little to no impact on the match and looking really frustrated.
Max Britos booked for a foul on the Coyote near the Hornets corner flag.
Hart pushes away a shot from Richarlison after a ice one two then another player shoots the rebound wide.
Arnautovic loses control of the ball then is booked for an awful foul on Clever Boy that was anything but.
Nearly 1-1 in stoppage time as Gomes Addams looked more like Gordon Banks with a superb double save from Arnautobvic. Zaba put in a great cross and he saved a close range header then a close range rebound.
Richarlison shoots wide as the offside flag is raised as the Hornets are one up at the half.
The second half is underway from Vicarage Road.
The Coyote misses a sitter for the Hammers. Zaba played Arnautovic down the right. Her got past Max Britos and played a great pass into the Coyote , who shot over inside thew six yard box.
Doucourre shoots inches wide from about 25 yards out off a pass from Will Hughes as Joe Hart was flat footed.
Andre Gray has a shot deflected for a corner off a run and pass from Doucourre.
After the corner is cleared , Joe Hart superbly saves a close range header from Mariappa off a cross from Will Hughes.
GOAL !!!! RICHARLISON PUTS THE HAMMERS TWO UP OFF PATHETIC HAMMERS DEFENDING. A LONG BALL WAS POORLY HEADED STRAIGHT TO WILL HUGHES . HE PLAYED THROUGH RICHARLISON , WHO SCORED WITH JUST HART TO BEAT DESPITE HART GETTING A HAND TO THE SHOT.
Sacko is on for Andy Carroll , who had absolutely no effect on the match other than persistent fouling.
