Welcome Back, Premier League!
The interminable international break is over and the Premiership is back with a bang this morning with the North London Derby, live from the Emirates Stadium. Both sides still have title ambitions, so this match couldn't have higher stakes. Then at 10am EST, we've got the usual kickoffs including league leaders Man Citeh at Leicester, as well as Liverpool hosting Soton and Chelski away to WBA. The late one ain't bad either - it's United hosting the Not So Happy Hammers. Join me, won't you?

A very good Saturday, chaps. Mauricio Pochettino is seeking his 100th victory as Tottenham boss, but his side’s poor record away from home against the Premier League elite (one win in 16) suggests he may not get it today. Arsenal have won five from five at home in the league so far this season, while Spurs have won four out of five on their travels.
Good morning, Bob.It's great to join you for the end of the international break and the beginning of Thanksgiving for Jacquelyn and Yours Truly.
When I was visiting him last weekend, the Gooner predicted that Kane and Alli, who were both rested for England's two friendlies, would be back in the starting XI for Spurs today. He's right. Here is the team news.
Arsenal: Cech, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Bellerin, Ramsey, Xhaka, Kolasinac, Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette.
Subs: Mertesacker, Wilshere, Ospina, Iwobi, Welbeck, Maitland-Niles, Coquelin.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Sanchez, Dier, Vertonghen, Trippier, Sissoko, Dembele, Eriksen, Davies, Alli, Kane.
Subs: Son, Vorm, Llorente, Foyth, Aurier, Winks, Walker-Peters.
Referee: Mike Dean (Wirral)
Two Championship matches yesterday: The Evil Blades as expected, won 1-3 at Richard Burton while it was 0-0 between PNE and Bolton.
That puts the Evil Blades top , but Wolves will move back to the top spot with a win or draw at the Reading Railroad.
Morning Boys
Teams in the tunnel
Morning boys - great to have you both in the fold for the return of the Premiership.
The visitors get us underway - both sides in their traditional kits, thankfully. Peter Drury and Jim Beglin on the microphones.
We are off
They're off from the EM.
Good morning, Bob and Dave. Great to join you for what is always a hotly contested match
Christian Ericksen should still be on a high after his hat-trick demolished Northern Ireland's hopes of a World Cup summer.
A great way to start Thanksgiving Break even though I started a day early.
I don't know about starting Mesut Ozil today - he hasn't seemed right in the head this season. I'd have flogged him for whatever cash was available over the summer.
What are your plans for Turkey Week, lads?
I still have three long days to go!!!
The Gazette fires well over with the matches first decent chance
I just read about some poor Gunners finishing in Lacazette.
First look for Lacazette. He might have been a bit greedy as he jinked back on his right foot and blasted over, but you can't blame him. Ramsey will.
Just home with the family
No guests... everyone lives so far away!!
Elizabeth, Jacqueylyn ,and I are going to South Padre on Monday for our anniversary while we expect Melanie to arrive from college on Tuesday evening. We will be hosting some of Elizabeth's family on Turkey Dave. How about you two.
Oh - Kane was allowed to run free down the left after a mistake from Koz. His shot is smothered by Cech.
Kane with a chance... bit of a ball hog there and to slow
Shoots right at keeper
Ozil seemed to be in there but he had caught Vertonghen.
Just a reminder it's a return to ER for Monk tomorrow morning. Kickoff on ESPN 3 at 8:15 AM.
Guinness with an advert now - bit early for a glass of stout, eh lads?
Sunshine looks confident while watching the match.
I saw that, mate - thanks for the text last night.
Just a tad early for some Alec Guinness Stout.
Cheers, mate. It sounds like it will be a great match.
a clash of heads Kos Delle was sandwiched , which resulted in a headache.
Oh - half chance there for Lacazette who was fed by Kolasinac. Couldn't control it.
I was a tad naughty with a FB post.
Kane seems a bit off the pace right now.
Did he exert himself to much in those two friendlies?
Gooner will enjoy that one, mate.
How David?
He had a knee injury that ruled him out - a bit of rust after a couple of weeks off?
I irked Gooners with a picture of a Cockateel enjoying the North London Derby.
Lots of people enjoyed your tribute to Stan Hunter on FB, UWS, including Carol (Hunter) Skinner.
I know - he'll enjoy a good laugh at that.
Looking at the schedule, the Terriers and Cherries will face each other in the top flight for the first time in their history.
That was a great post for one of the greats.
ooh, how did that not get a touch by the Arsenal
A great Gunners attack and a a great ball into the box by Bellerin. If someone would have connected it would have been a Gunners lead.
Oh - Lacazette should have scored there. A stud away from opening the scoring for the Arsenal as that ball zipped in.
So far, an E for effort, but not quite a Q for quality.
I just read about a clumsy challenge by Vertonghen in Lacazette.
The free kick is headed out for a corner by Delle Sandwich.
Alexis has two chances to find a man in the box - fails at both attempts.
Not sure, as a United fan, who I want to win this
I agree with you about the match - a bit scrappy. Furious pace.
Wish I could read the links
Tom let me get on his account
I went to Bob's homepage and can't find it
Cissy listened to a song by Xakha Khan while being fouled on the counter.
Probably Arsenal, right? They're less likely to challenge for the title.
It's on the Lakenheath High School FB site.
Was it posted on the LHS page?
An Arsenal win would be better than a Spuds win at this stage of the season.
Our anniversary is Monday. A great way to start Turkey week.
Very nice, mate - how many years have you and Elizabeth been married?
I don't even get Wednesday off this week
Thanks, mate. It's 24 years.
Oh - Bellerin found Ozil at the by-line but his cross was cut out by Dier.
Good on you both! Enjoy the celebration!
Sorry, Dave. Wish you could have a longer break.
I do like both of these teams wearing their club colors... even if they have matching sleeves
Scotland wore pink at hoe because of white sleeves clashing
Do Arsenal wear red at Spurs?
They are one club that seems to always change shirts away.... I hate it
Several people mentioned the Host Nation Club that Stan the Man hosted. Those are key memories for me, too.
Cheers, mate. We're bring Jacquelyn for seafood at South Padre. We will be skipping the Seagulls vs the Potters and hope to be missing seagulls at the island.
Well done to both of you!
Kathy and I will be 27 on Dec 15... We'll be in Fort Lauderdale!
Going to visit her brother that weekend. He has a condo down there. I am taking Friday off so we are flying down there on Thursday night and back Sunday afternoon
Absolutely . We had great trips with the Host Nation club.
Xakha Khan booked. Is that a common occurrance.
Remember the Guy Fawkes trip Bob?
You, me and two others all in the big bus
You told me the Kushmaker joke in the back seat
Remember having to go to the opera as a trade with Stan for going to Wembley, UWS? I think it was La Boheme.
OH!!!! Eirksen had a shot skim the outside of the post.
I remember that well
Oh - Kane with a great header there. It's deflected off Mustafi and Cech collects gratefully.
United better excite me this afternoon on NBC
Well done , Dave. A great way for you and Kathy to celebrate your anniversary then just one week before the Christmas break.
I don't think I was on those trips , but went on several trips to Wembley. I do remember hearing lots of singing from the back.
I know you weren't on the Fireworks trip...no one went!
I did go to some plays/ operas at BSE and watched a play at Stratford on Avon that was written by the fictious Shakespeare.
Stan got a bit fed up with us just wanting to go see England at Wembley all the time and so he said we had to go to some "cultural" events. The opera was the one I remember, but there might have been a ballet as well.
ONE NIL GUNNERS!!
Great header
The Prem is back
GOAL !!! MUSTAfi gives the gunners the lead.,
GOAL! Mustafi with a towering header to put the Gunners up.
Now then...have Spurs got the wherewithal to strike back. They haven't shown it yet.
The two German internationals combined as Ozil put in a great free kick and superb well placed header by Mustafi went in for a Gunners lea.d
The Spurs have it in their arsenal to comeback , but have won only two of the last 32 away league matches against the Gunners.
Arsenal in full flow now.
I think he called a few meetings to rectify that. I think we sat silently when he asked us for solutions.
They talk about Spurs struggling against the Big Six but they always give it a go
They could have gotten something at OT
Sunshine seems none too bothered, playing with his toys.
GOAL! Alexis adds a second, roofing it from a pass from Lacazette!
TWO NIL
Sanchez rifles it in at the front post
GOAL !!! THE GUNNERS GO TWO UP THANKS TO SOME POOR SPUDS DEFENDING AS ALEXIS BLASTS IN FROM A YARD OUT
The Gazette with the good timed run and found Sanchez with a the cross
Can Spurs reply?
The Gunners are flying now - I can hear the shouting from Alexandria.
Bellerin played a one two with Kos then played a nice slide rule pass to Lacazette. Then I missed the rest , but read about his pass being diverted in by Alexis
I can picture a certain Steve going potty!!
Useless effort by Kane there
Nice run by Kane, creating some space for a shot, but then he screws the shot horribly wide.
Dancing in the Chilly streets of Alex. Sunshine relaxed in warm, muggy Harlingen.
Into stoppage time. A pair of minutes assigned by Jimmy Dean sausage.
Off for a half-time snuggle with the missus.
The Gunners are two up at the half.
That's it
What can MoPo do at half time to change this match around
UWS, you should get Thomas to sign up for the "Lakenheath American High School Alumni" FB page. Then you'll be able to read the post that I included on the page.
The teams back out for the second half. Spurs might have a moan about the offsides on both goals but they're still 2-0 down. They need to find some answers in the second half.
The second half is underway as the Poch is not much of a friend to the fourth official.
Back as they kick off
The top tier at the Em doing the best impersonation of the Wembley lot that is late for the second half
No excuses . The Spuds haven't been good enough despite two players offside by a n inch on both goals.
Mustafi in the book
Mustafi picks up the first yellow of the match.
Mustafi booked for a late challenge on Harry Kane.
A tame header by Harry Kane off a cross from Dembele as the Gunners coughed up the ball as a result of the high press.
Harry Kane deservedly booked for a challenge on Xakha Khan after the ball had goner out of play.
I just read about about a Gunners corner in Lacazette.
St. Mirren half a dozen up Lothian Thiustle Hutchison Vale.
BLOW UP REF! THIS ONE'S DONE AND DUSTED!
What about Pogba and Ibra being back in the United squad!!
Ibra? He's still at United? I thought he had buggered off to China or something.
Gavin Reilly with a hat-trick as it's almost halftime in this Scottish Cup match
Ibra had been out injured. I'm surprised he's fit enough to be in the squad. Great news about Pogba.
Kane tries to win a pen
Then he has a shot
Blocked
All he does as of late is shoot
Kane pulls the trigger but it's deflected out for a corner.
St. Helen Mirren so thirsty they have gone seven up still in the first half.
Looks like United will stay in second today
Thirsty St. Helen Mirren seven up at the half with a quartet of goals by Gavin Reilly in a Scots Cup match
Rojo fit again too
A Foxes win will help. Will Claude Puel's influence continue?
Davinson Sanchez heads out for a Gunners corner,.
LLoris punches away the corner.
Still 0-0 between Ross County and Celtic in the second half.
Harry Winks is coming on for Dembele now. A bit more positive.
The Gazette is offside
Hate the delay the linesmen have when they raise the flag
They have to wait for the bloke to touch it
Stupid
I just blinked and saw Winks come on for Dembele. I'm not too observant as I missed and offside decision, but thankfully, was able to read about it in Lacazette.
Eriksen with a long range effort halfway to Copenhagen while having a chaw about it.
Was listening to 5Live this week. They were talking about the premiere of movie about Arsenal's 89 Championship team
Is Steve trying to watch it?
That was the closest title race in the history of English footie. I won't be watching the one about the 2012 title .
Got that right David
I'll ask him - dunno.
Alexis is tripped by Trippier.
The free kick is cleared for a Gunners corner on a typically rainy November London day,
Sunny and warm in South Texas.
Alexis tries a pop from the edge of the box. Well over the bar.
A long range effort from Alexis is a foot or so over.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/video/2017/oct/11/89-trailer-documentary-recounts-arsenal-dramatic-title-win-at-anfield-video
Where's the doc about the 1991/2 season? We only get the movies where we're villains. #Unforgiven.
A long range effort from Alexis is deflected and makes for an easier save for Lloris.
They should title it - "It's All Up For Grabs Now!" Classic Brian Moore commentary line.
I'll miss out on that one too, mate.
Coq au Vin coming on to bolt the door now.
Delle sandwiched for too much Nachos as the Gunners fullback is booked.
I was devasted that season...OUR United had it won!! Already beat YOUR United in both Cup competitions.
WE BLEW IT!
A French connection that I read about in Lacazette. He's replaced by Coq Au Vin as Gooners are about twenty minutes away from celebrating with some.
Big Fernando Llorente is being prepared for a late cameo.
We blew it in 92 , 95, 98, and 12. Imagine if we hadn't.
Kane and Ali both coming off
Well, that's giving up isn't it Mo Po
My favorite quote of that season is from wee Gordon Strachan:
"All I had to do was to feed it out wide to Gary Speed. Speedy would cross it to Lee and he would head it in. It was easy."
Harry Kane and today unable replaced by the Llorente Express while Number One Son is sandwiched on to the pitch for action.
Oh - Alexis nearly in for a second.
I know!!
Should have beaten Leeds
Could not find the net at Upton Park
Had a huge lead over the Gunners...lost in the CL and it wall went potty
Bloody Aguero!!
A close range effort from Alexis was blocked by Lloris.
I think it was like for like from Mo Po. A pair of strikers replaced by another pair of strikers. Prior to the match they said Kane wasn't 100% fit.
A long range effort from Eriksen is easily kept in Cech , which is mate for Sunshine and his lads.
Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale pull one back vs St. Helen Mirren, but still trail 1-7. A comeback in the making?
Celtic take the lead at Ross County late in the second half.
Top scorer, Leigh Griffiths , with the goal in the 78th minute,
What's going on with Nacho's shorts? I don't understand.
Cech with a great reflex save from a shot that was anything but a Dier.
Great save by Cech
Fred thought those were cat like reflexes.
Kos clears for a Spuds corner. Taken short quickly and the Gunners counter. Bellerin has a shot blocked
Arsenal had a chance on the break but Ozil ruined it.
Iwobi on for Beaker.
And that's it for Beaker. Iwobi comes on for him.
Has Ozil been that good?
They are going gaga over him as he walks off
Son should have buried that one and that would have made the last five minutes interesting
The subs combine as Llorente heads on a long ball and Number One Son with an unusual miss from close range as he blasts over.
Jim Beglin pushing for the Beaker to be MOTM. Not sure if he really was,.
Number One Son fouls Alexis,
A quartet of minutes of stoppage time as Xakha Khan is well wide with a long range free kick
I agree, UWS - I didn't think Ozil was that good today.
Oh - Alexis was in again but his shot was straight into Lloris' chest.
Oh - Iwobi is teed up but shanks his shot wide.
Alexis Sanchez beats the offside trap , going past Davinson Sanchez, then his close rang effort is blocked by Lloris.
Wide by Iwobi
Number One Son has a shot deflected over by Mustafi for a corner.
Celtic win 0-1 at Ross County.
That's it - a comprehensive win for Arsenal against a flat Spurs side. Another blow for my PPP game (sigh)....
Steve's weekend has started off lovely
Hope all of us can feel the same
A walloping
While the Gunners defeat the Spuds 2-0 in the North London Derby.
Rooney dropped by Everton
COME ON YOU FOXES!!!!
Next up - it's Leicester v. Citeh on NBC Sports.
I really hope someone knocks City off their *@#*ing perch very soon
I hate Pep
