A Footie Respite
Morning, LOBers. I woke up to two feet of fresh snow in the driveway here at the Cottage. So, I sacrificed the Leicester v. Palace match for an early morning shoveling session. I'm back for some brekkies and some of the good stuff. After this early offering, we've got the usual 3pm GMT kickoffs, including Chelsea v. Soton on NBC Sports and Leeds (hopefully) on the ESPN3. The late one is the biggie - Citeh v. Spurs. Join me if you're around today, won't you?

I'm back for the 10am kickoffs now after a second bout of shoveling. I'm definitely earned my second cuppa this morning.
I'm settling in for the Chelsea v. Soton match now, with of course an eye on the match at Elland Road between Leeds and our old home county heroes Norwich City.
Palace pulled off a marvelous 0-3 away win at Leicester earlier this morning. They're just about safe now.
Here are the teams gathering in the tunnel at Stamford Bridge now:
Chelsea - Courtois, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill, Moses, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso, Willian, Hazard, Pedro
Soton - Forster, Hoedt, Yoshida, Stephens, Bertrand, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Cédric, Redmond, Hojbjerg, Gabbiadini
I've changed my mind - I'm watching the Arsenal v. Newcastle over on CNBC. Here are the teams:
Arsenal - Cech, Bellerin, Koscielny, Monreal, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Wilshere, Iwobi, Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette
Newcastle - Elliot, Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Manquillo, Merino, Murphy, Hayden, Atsu, Perez, Joselu
And we're underway in the 3pm GMT kickoffs - come on, you Whites!
Arsenal right into 2nd gear from the kickoff - earn an early corner.
Ipswich are already one-nil up against in-form Reading.
Kachunga has fired Hudders into the lead at Vicarage Road against Watford. It's a good day for away teams so far.
Stoke v. West Ham's kickoff has been delayed by an hour.
Down at the Amex, Brighton are well on top against Burnley, with Bruno going close. Sean Dyche won’t be too worried about that though. His team love a late goal. Southampton, meanwhile, have had to shuffle the pack again with Cedric forced off after being clattered by Gary Cahill. Huddersfield, too, have seen goalscorer Elias Kachunga leave the field on a stretcher with a leg injury.
GOAL! Oh my, that is a brilliant goal by Beaker!
It all came from a great cross that was mishandled by Eliot. The shot came in from Sanchez and was blocked out for Ozil to hit a sweet, sweet volley into the upper 90. Special goal.
Gunners 1-0 up!
QPR are ahead at Birmingham, where it looks to be going from bad to worse for manager Steve Cotterill. Jack Robinson has got the goal there. Elsewhere, Richarlison should have drawn Watford level at Vicarage Road while Brighton are dominating proceedings on the south coast.
In the Championship, Derby are ahead against Aston Villa. Glenn Whelan’s backpass gifts Matej Vydra the ball, before Andreas Weimann rattles it home. Elsewhere, Lloyd Dyer has put Burton 1-0 up at Bolton.
Brighton have a penalty against Burnley ... but it is Row Z stuff from Glenn Murray, who was felled and then got back up to leather it high and wide. Meanwhile, Bristol City are 1-0 up against Nottingham Forest, via a deflected Marlon Pack strike.
Here's the gulf between the top clubs and everyone else in the Premiership. Brighton are currently in mid-table They're top scorer, Glenn Murray, has scored 5 goals. Citeh have two players - DeBruyne and David Silva - who have scored 5 goals. And that's not even counting Aguero, who's on 10, Sterling on 9, Gabby Jesus on 8 and Sane on 6 goals. Crikey!
Yes!!!! Pontus Jansson has fired us into the lead against Norwich!
Great time for us to score just before half-time. Boro are trailing 2-0 at Millwall currently. More good news.
Oer to Stamford Bridge just in time to see Fraser Forster let in a Marcos Alonso free kick at his near post.
We're underway in the second half then. Very pleased with that 1-0 score-line at Elland Road. More of the same, lads!
Stoke v West Ham is finally under way.
DePoitre has fired in Huddersfield's third at Vicarage Road. Game over there.
Oh - Lacazette was in there but tried a chip and got it all wrong.
On-loan Southampton striker Sam Gallagher has dug out an equaliser for Birmingham at home to QPR. And high-flying Shrewsbury are in front against Blackpool.
Mark Noble has fired home a penalty for West Ham to take the lead at the Brit.
Arsenal haven't really taken their chances today but it doesn't seem to matter. Newcastle don't seem to have any ambition at all to get forward to try for an equalizer.
Wahay! PNE have taken the lead against the Evil Blades!
Weak effort from Iwobi now.
Jonathan Hogg has been sent off for Huddersfield as he picks up a second yellow card after Watford crowded the referee Michael Oliver. Both sides reduced to 10 men, after Troy Deeney was dismissed in the first half.
Middlesbrough are back in with a shout after grabbing a goal at the New Den.
Two changes for the Arsenal now. Lacazette and Iwobi off and Welly and Giroud on for the last twenty minutes.
Watford have got one goal back at Vicarage Road.
Morata heads wide for Chelsea ... Southampton are still in it – for now at least.
Ayoze Perez and Mo Diame have come on for Newcastle. And Perez has an immediate chance. Fluffed it.
Jack Butland denies former Stoke team-mate Marko Arnautovic with a smart stop. West Ham still lead 1-0 at the Brit stadium, where kick-off was delayed by 60 minutes.
Sunderland are winning!
“You’re getting sacked in the morning,” is the chant from the West Ham fans. To Mark Hughes, of course.
Newcastle trying to steal a point here now.
Arsenal and Chelsea wrap up their 1-0 wins.
Huddersfield are wrapping up a marvelous 1-4 win against Watford.
Teams in the tunnel now at the Etihad ahead of the late one:
Man City: Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Mangala, Delph, De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Sterling, Aguero, Sane.
Subs: Bravo, Danilo, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus, Zinchenko, Toure, Foden.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Trippier, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose, Dembele, Winks, Eriksen, Alli, Son, Kane.
Subs: Lamela, Vorm, Sissoko, Llorente, Foyth, Aurier, Davies.
Referee: Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire)
No David Silva today due to "a personal issue," apparently.
It’s shaping up to be a good game, with Tottenham showing no signs of meekness as they enter the belly of the beast. They’re trying to press Manchester City back in a bid to take the game to them - only time will tell whether or not they’ll succeed.
GOAL! Fairly simple header from a corner for Citeh. Not the prettiest goal but they all count. Free header for Gundogan.
1-0!
How will Spurs respond to that one. A loss here today would allow their North London neighbors to leapfrog them into the last Champions League position.
Oh - great drive by Aguero and a good save by Lloris. Sterling should have scored from the follow-up.
Citeh are at their rampaging best right ow.
Oh - Ginger played in Sane but his first touch was too heavy.
Then Aguero fizzes one just past the post. Just a matter of time before another Citeh goal.
Not sure what Spurs are playing at here. They've dropped deep as if to concede that all they're capable of here is keeping the score down. Pathetic display.
Pretty obvious handball there by Danny Rose. Should have been a pen.
Very foggy in the Etihad now.
And that's halftime. Citeh 1-0 up but it could have been 3 or 4.
Back for the last half-hour now after a third bout of shoveling duty. The snow just keeps on coming today.
Dele Alli surely should have sent off there for that clear stamp on Ginger Winger. Only a yellow.
GOAL! Ginger gets his revenge immediately, running down the pitch on the break after lashing it home past a despairing Lloris.
And now Ginger has earned a penalty!
Gabby Jesus steps up....
And hits the post!
Too casual.
Sterling should have scored on the follow up. Citeh should be romping this one but they're stuck on 2-0.
Eric Lamela has come on, for what it's worth.
GOAL! Sterling finally gets his goal!
It's that man DeBruyne again who did the yeoman's work starting that break. Great interplay between Gundogan and Sane but finished off by Sterling who hits double figures with that one.
Here are the Citeh scorers now:
Aguero - 10
Sterling - 10
Jesus - 8
De Bruyne - 6
Sane - 6
Silva - 6
Otamendi - 5
Just between them, they've scored more than 50 goals. Cor!
Oh - nearly another for Sterling. They are loving this now.
Aguero will be unhappy that he hasn't got in on the goals this afternoon. He's stuck on 10 goals, three behind Mo Salah.
GOAL! Sterling does get his brace now! Spurs' defense collapsed and Sterling was able to tap home his 11th.
Three minutes of agonizing stoppage time for Spurs to play out now. They just want to limp home, I'm sure.
GOAL! Erickson gest a consolation goal back.
Full-time: 4-1 - that's a comprehensive demolishing of a side that proposed to be title contenders at the beginning of the season. Citeh are 14 points clear now.
That's it for me today. Cheerio, chaps!
