Saturday Morning's Alright for Footie!
A very good Saturday morning to all of you. I'm settling in to watch some of the good stuff after a long and snowy week here in Western New York. We get started at the London Stadium with West Ham v. Chelski. Then we've got the usual 10am EST kickoffs, including Spurs v. Stoke. I'm also delighted that my beloved Leeds are scheduled to be ESPN3 for their away match with QPR. Join me for all the fun today, won't you?

And we're away at the London Stadium in this local derby that starts a weekend of derby matches. Peter Drury and Clive Allen on the mics.
Good morning, Bob. Great to join you for the Saturday footie.
Lanzini is fouled by Zapacosta. A decent position for the Hammers.
It is interesting that the two London clubs who are playing in huge national stadiums are both suffering because of it.
Not exactly a royal cross from Mark Noble as the threat from the Hammers ends. A good start from the Hammers.
It’s been a positive start from West Ham. Lanzini scoots excitingly down the left and is tripped by Zappacosta. The free-kick is headed away at the near post by Christensen.
Morning, MUR - it's great to have a chat with you during the footie this morning.
GOAL! Arnautovic fires the Hammers into the lead!
GOAL !!! ARNAUTOVIC GIVES THE HAMMERS A SURPRISE LEAD.
Lovely one-two between Lanzini and Arnautovic and then the striker just curled a lovely shot past Courtois. Marvelous goa!
1-0!
Silly boy - Arnautovic has been booked after the goal for jumping into the crowd in celebration.
It was great one touch passing form the Hammers that started with a throw from Zaba. It culminated with Antonio passing to Arnautovic, who played a one two with Lanzini and scored with a great finish past Courtois.
Cheers, mate. Great to join you for what has been a great start to the weekend.
West Ham certainly deserve their lead - they've been really bright. Chelsea haven't really gotten out of the dressing room yet.
The East End Boys lead the West End Boys.
Nothing doing on that penalty claim by Morata - he'll be the villain for the rest of the afternoon now.
A surprise in the Conference as well as Macclesfield leads table toppers, Wrexham
It's got to be alarming for Joe Hart that he's been dropped for a high-profile match like this in a World Cup year.
Marcos Alonso booked for a silly challenge on compatriot, Adrian.
Marco Alonso picks up a yellow card now.
Agreed. If I were Gareth Southgate, I would at other alternatives to Joe Hart. There are several out there.
Morning boys, just settle down for the matches. Glad to see the score so far... it won't stay
Hazard volleys well wide as the Hammers were under the cosh for the first time this match
Oh - Hazard had a chance there on the volley. He mishit it back across the area and no one was able to direct it toward goal.
Good morning, UWS. Great to see the power of positive thinking at work.
Do you still have snow on the ground in Harlingen?
Morning, UWS - it has been a bright start for the Happy Hammers.
A teeny tiny taste of MY weather here yesterday. Spectacular weather ever day the remainder of the week. Sunny with highs in the upper 60s and low 70-s the rest of the week.
No. It all melted once the sun came out in the early afternoon and the temperature rose to a balmy 45 degrees.
We are supposed to get a bit of the white stuff today. Maybe 2-3 inches
I won't be on LOB next weekend and I won't have to worry about snow either!
Kathy and I are going to Fort Lauderdale for a long weekend
That's correct. Happy early Anniversary and many more. You won't be around for my birthday next weekend, but it's great way to honor your anniversary.
Arnautovic is trying to turn himself into a fan favorite, battling for everything.
Adrian does well to turn around a long range effort from Kante.
That sound like a lovely winter break, mate. Enjoy. We're due for the same amount of snow tomorrow. I had to scrub my last graduate thesis class session Thursday night as we got about 16 inches in four hours here.
Adrian does well to push away a shot from Zapacosta of a short corner then Morata is offside for the rebound.
WOW !!! Glad to live here with great weather forecast for the remainder of the week.
Good thing Joe Hart is not in goal or else Chelsea would already be in the lead./
All Chelsea right now
Teams should not sit back after taking the lead
They didn't hold on at the Etihad either
Chelski starting to dominate possession now, as West Ham drop deeper.
You've already had that much...wow
I just looked out the window. No snow on the ground, but some on the roof tops.It was our first snow since Christmas day 2004. The previous snow before that was Valentine's Day 1895.
I've never understood why teams don't just keep playing. West Ham were all over Chelski for the first ten or fifteen minutes.
Morata heads well wide off a cross from Zapacosta.
Yeah - it was our first major snow event this season. We've been lucky.
Based on the text Dave sent, the Mersey and Manc Derbies will go on despite the amount of snow predicted tonight.
Morata offside as he lobs Adrian as it goes over the goal.
West Ham already wasting time on goal kicks...sigh
Something has to change
According to accuweather , Silver Creek , N.Y. got two feet of snow. Is that near Fred Town
Bakayoko has a long range effort deflected for a corner.
West Ham really under siege in these latter stages of the first half. Moyesy will have to make some changes at half time. They can't just hang on like this.
Yeah - Silver Creek is about fifteen minutes away from us. They're slightly more elevated, so they usually get a bit more than we do here in Fred-Town.
Courtois clears for a Hammers corner off pressure from Antonio.
Masouokou wins a corner off of Zapacosta. Better from the Hammers
Maasoukou wins another Hammers corner.
A pair of stoppage time minutes.
West Ham going forward for bit
I was kicked off this site for a bit!!
Ole's from Hammers fans
Half time
The Hammers are one up at the half.
The Happy Hammers go in very, very happy now. But how long can they carry on this park the bus posture.
Your previous message about snow in Texas... was that supposed to 18 95?
You guys didn't reply to my text about the Panini Sticker books
Did you used to have those books?
It was an interesting show
Conte is throwing Pedro on for the second half.
Pedro Pan is on for Bakayoko prior to second half kickoff. An attacking move from Conte.
The second half is underway
Yes. I had the sticker books.
The previous snow was Christmas 2004 and the one before that was Valentine's Day 1895. It doesn't snow too often here.
Pedro volleys well wide off a long Chelsea possession.
I used to love the Panini books, especially as preparation for the World Cups. I think I started collecting them when our family were vacationing at the beach in Italy.
Oh - West Ham nearly spring a break but Arnautovic had drifted offside.
BUGGER!!!! Antonio superbly lead a Hammers counter, but Arnautovic was offside.
Crikey!
I started collecting the Pannini stickers at the beginning of the 1977-78 season.
Arnautovic wanted a penalty for hand ball on Christiansen. He may have had a case.
Definitely hit the hand there!!
Another Chelski change - Alonso off and Victor Moses on. He'll certainly give West Ham defenders something to think about.
Victor Moses is on for Marcos Alonso, who may have violated some commandments.
Fabregas over a free kick now. Training pitch routine that's easily snuffed out. Back to the chalkboard for that one.
A training ground routine between the two Chelsea subs fails miserably.
A long range effort from Zapacosta is not too far wide.
That was the first year of Panini coming in.
There were books. you had to glue the cards on. I remember how lumpy your books ended up
Panini brought the peel off the back stickers
They were showing the stickers in this show.
It brought back so many memories of the shiny club badges, team photo and then all the players
Adrian is booked for time wasting. Rocky will not be pleased.
Stop wasting time Adrian... half hour still to go
Adrian is booked for time wasting in the 57th minute. I wonder if anyone has ever gone off for two yellows both for time wasting. That would be a laugh.
I wonder if there are little additional bits of footie culture - Panini, Subbuteo - for kids to enjoy these days as we did.
Notice in all sports these days that everyone talks with their mouths covered. There has been a rash of lip readers spread around the world!!
The final roll of the dice from Conte as Willian is on for Zapacosta.
Frightening front line now for Chelski as Willian comes on. It's all guns a blazing for Conte with 25 minutes to play.
That looked a foul throw from Peter Pan. Why was he allowed a do over?
Here's a preview for the show I watched
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IisyMLgxvv0
Winston Reids a yellow Christmas after a slide tackle.
Two quick yellows for Reid and then Cresswell. I cannot believe that West Ham are playing like this at home. Absurd.
Not well from Cress as he fouls Willian a yard outside the Hammers box.
A standing ovation for Arnautovic as he's replaced by Sakho.
The Hammers are starting to foul too much
They need to keep trying to play!
Obaing now booked for a rash challenge.
Agreed, but Chelsea may have too much for them to handle.
If West Ham pull off this improbable win, it will be their best result of the season by far.
A spell of Chelsea pressure leads to a corner. Adrian is fouled off the corner.
That's the second time that Adrian has dropped a cross. He's been bailed out both times by the ref. Joe Hart will be watching those bobbles on a loop this week.
Agreed. Moyesie's best result in ages.
Hart in mouth would do well to watch Adrian , who has really out performed him.
Antonio is having a word with Moyes while the match is going on. He's done for today.
Andy Ayew on for Antonio, who also gets a standing ovation.
Stop wasting so much time!!
It will just make it worse after the 90th minute
Stop complaining Chelsea...you'd do the same!!!
I have to skip to the loo...expect a goal to come soon
Antonio Conte looks resigned to defeat. It just hasn’t happened for Chelsea today.
Atrocious by Ayew on a rare Hammers counter.
That would be the usual pattern, UWS.
Surely, that would end any chances Chelsea has of retaining the title.
Morata shoots wide with just Adrian to beat.
Oh - I thought that was the one. Big chance for Morata, but he's blasted wide when he merely had to slide it in.
Great pass from Morata , but Hazard shoots over with just Adrian to beat.
Not sure why Psycho is complaining at the fourth official.
Masuaku booked for time wasting.
Nearly into stoppage time now.
I'm back
Has anyone got close to another goal?
A lot will be added... because of the time wasting
Six or seven more??? That is just ridiculous!!!
SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE
Chelsea missed two sitters
A quintet of stoppage time minutes.
5 added minutes
You watch old video and 2 minutes was considered a lot
COME ON YOU 'AMMERS
COME ON YOU IRONS
This will be the Hammers first win since defeating Swan dive 1-0 on September 30th. That's been quite a while.
They should be down the tunnel already...players are their own worst enemy
Agreed, UWS. The average was about thirty extra stoppage time seconds.
This would be great for United... won't lose any ground to Chelsea... hopefully move further apart!!
Foul throw!!!
Willian with a stupid foul throw and that should do it.
That's it!!
Moyes gets his first win!!
That's it as the Hammers get a shock 1-0 win vs Chelsea and in the process have probably ended any hopes of Chelsea retaining the title.
I am off for walkies in the frozen tundra
I'll be back for the 3 o'clockers
Huge result for WH!
We will be leaving soon to go to my father-in-law's house to celebrate his birthday. I will be around for the two derbies tomorrow. May be around for the first half of the 10 AM matches.
I will be around tomorrow. Great chatting.
CHEERS!
Back for the QPR v. Leeds match. The coverage on ESPN has started.
The Leeds starting XI: Wiedwald, Ayling, Cooper, Jansson, Berardi, Vieira, Phillips, Alioski, Saiz, Roofe, Ekuban.
Spurs have kicked off against Stoke at Wembley - not sure why things have been so delayed at Loftus Road.
QPR get us going in their traditional hoops; Leeds in all Black today.
Leeds with all the early possession, I'm happy to see.
One of the key battles today will be between our old pal Matt Smith up front for Rangers against Pontus Jansson.
Oh - Smithies almost made a hash of that one allowing Ekuban to nip in. Good poaching there from Big Ek.
Oh - great ball over from Roofe now and Ali wasn't far away. Corner.
Great atmosphere within Loftus Road this afternoon.
Phew - close call for us there. Free header for Washington from that free kick.
No real rhythm to this match yet.
Another close call for us, as Washington fizzes one just past the post. They're knocking on the door and I don't like it.
Hopefully, I am back
All Rangers at the moment at Loftus Road
Oh - Ekuban nearly steered a header on target there - decent chance.
Spurs take lead.... OG... Great finish with Shawcross' head
Welcome back, mate - how was your walkies?
Shawcross is always good for an o.g. I heard a Stoke fan on 606 describe Shawcross as the best transfer in Stoke City history. Surely not!
Not a good decision by Son... very Defoeish of him
What minute are you in at LR
Just hit the 22
Holloway gone down the tunnel... probably off to the loo
I'm in the 25th minute now.
Oh - another good chance for Freeman there - put it over, thankfully.
"He shits when he wants...he shits when he waaaants...Ian Holloway - he shits when he wants!" La la la
I miss Leeds wearing Yellow away
hahaha
Me too - we've been wearing either all blue or all black away from home this season. Don't really like either.
Kane misses a one on one!
HK goes close at Wembley. Should have scored. He's been off the boil recently - hope it doesn't happen in Russia.
Blue is better than Black
Leeds always had the blue in their colors too
Leeds have to make a change... not good
True - but I'm not a big Ekuban fan.
Free kick chance late in the half. Comes to nothing.
Spurs troop off 1-0 up at Wembley for a change.
Vieira tries one from an ambitious distance. Well over the bar.
Get a shot off!!
Oh - referee; should have been a penalty as Kemar tumbled in the box.
HT at LR
Off to shower
Half-time comes - 0-0. The commentator thinks we've been disappointing. I disagree. We haven't been that bad. Well poised for the second half.
Okay, then - we're off and away in the second half. Come on, you all Blacks! MOT!
Chance from a free kick now - tried to pick out Saiz but cut out.
Struth...I come down and it is THREE NIL
Washington nearly in there after a lovely first touch. He's been Rangers' best play by a long chalk.
I just noticed that, too. Totally missed those goals watching this one. I think Dele got one and maybe Son the other.
Final Score is supposed to start at 11:30 on the BBC but the snooker could go long
Vieira goes into the book.
Nice move from us but broken up after the final ball in from Siddiqui.
Kane got one I think
Great save by Lloris
Villa Millwall still scoreless
Boro two up vs Ipswich
Ali talks himself into the book now - silly boy.
Pompey one up at the Valley
Cambridge two down at Vale
You're right - he's ended his goal drought.
Thug
Kane scores his brace and Spurs fourth
GOAL!!!!
LEEDS TAKE THE LEAD!!!
Great header after a great cross!!
YESS!!!!!!!
Kemar Roofe finishes off a lovely move and great cross from Ali.
0-1!
Kane's goal was is 50th of 2017
We're going for a second now - that's the way to do it.
Great ball again... failed to control... shame
Oh - Uluongo goes close with a header. Keep it tight, lads.
Struth... I thought that was in!!
Snooker till going... six minutes left!
Hope O'Sullivan can wrap up this frame!
When Stoke concede... they concede!
They let in 7 at the Etihad
More to come here?
Put a shirt on mate!!
