Hurrah! It's the Weekend!
A very good Saturday morning, chaps - we've reached the weekend again and have a morning of the good stuff awaiting us. First up is the champions Chelski's visit of the South Coast to meet Brighton. At 10am EST, we've got a load of good matches, including Arsenal hosting Palace and United away to Burnley. I'll have my eye on Leeds' match with Evil Millwall. Finally, we wrap things up at 12:30pm with title favorites Citeh at home to Newcastle. Join me for all the weekend fun!

Neither of these teams are in the goals. Brighton have scored just three in their last eight Premier League matches, while Chelsea have only managed one in their previous four league and cup fixtures. And form comes at a premium too. Brighton have only won three games since the start of November; Chelsea haven’t tasted victory in a match in 2018 yet, one FA Cup penalty shootout aside.
The teams coming out of the tunnel now:
Brighton: Ryan, Goldson, Duffy, Dunk, Suttner, Schelotto, Stephens, Propper, March, Gross, Hemed.
Subs: Hunemeier, Kayal, Baldock, Murray, Izquierdo, Rosenior, Krul.
Chelsea: Caballero, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, Moses, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso, Willian, Batshuayi, Hazard.
Subs: Barkley, Musonda, Zappacosta, Luiz, Eduardo, Ampadu, Sterling.
Referee: Jonathan Moss (County Durham).
And we're away Brighton....
GOAL! Hazard fires home after only 2 minutes!
A touch unlucky for Brighton there. Moses fizzed a great cross over. When it was cleared out, the clearance went straight to the Belgian who shifted onto his right foot and slammed his shot home past Ryan.
0-1 Chelski!
GOAL! One of the great team goals of the season finished off by Willian!
Gorgeous stuff there, with six or seven little passes around the box and then finished with aplomb by the Brazilian.
0-2!
Chris Hughton looks as if he's been poleaxed. HIs Plan A is in shreds now.
The goal drought has well and truly ended for Chelski!
Good morning, Bob. I missed two goals while lying in a tad too late.
Morning, MUR - how are you, mate?
Big shout there for a pen as Willy Cabs went walkabout in his area and seemed to trip up a Brighton player.
Some crazy keeping by Caballero . He fumbles the cross then appeared to trip Schelloto. The replay showed the fall was well after the contact and probably the correct decision.
Matty Ryan pushes away a long range effort from Bakayoko.
Doing well. How are you?
Most cabs are car rides, but Willy Cabs took flight instead.
Rudiger concedes a Seagulls corner then the corner from Suttner is out for another. Then Willy Cabs takes flight and struggles with another cross and somehow gets away with getting a foul called in his favor.
Chelsea break through Hazard and through ball finds Willian , whose shot is pushed round by Ryan.
We've had a busy week. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend, mate. Classes start on Monday.
Aberdeen leads St. Helen Mirren 3-1 in the Scots Cup.
Bakayoko tackles Schelotto then passes to Willian , who finds Hazard then he finds Bats , whose shot is pushed around by Ryan.
Oh - great chance for Brighton there. Excellent header down and Willy Cabs pulls out an super save.
The Seagulls nearly pull on back. A Gross cross is results in a first class save by Willy Cabs off a header from Tomer Hemed.
Predictably, having scored two early goals, Chelski seem satisfy to knock it about and allow Brighton to take the initiative now. It's the Italian way, eh?
Morning Boys
Sorry I'm two goals late to the party
Wishing you a great semester. We had a crazy week. Harlingen cancelled school Wednesday due to freezing drizzle .We had school. I took off yesterday. Melanie was supposed to start the new college semester Tuesday, but had to wait till Wednesday due to the weather in Central Texas.
Honestly, Brighton could be level - another great chance and another decent shout for a pen there, with Alonso pulling back.
Morning, UWS! If you didn't see the Willian goal, have a look at half time. A peach of a team goal.
Good morning, UWS. Not to worry. We must be in the same time zone because I was also two goals late.
That does sound crazy for Harlingen. Hope things get back to normal next week for you. We've had a lot of snow but we're used to it here. No big deal.
And yet another penalty shout - Bakayoko seems to take down a player.
This is about the third time Schelotto has gone down looking for a penalty . It's about time he's been booked for diving.
Schelotto talks his way into the book - I think the Argentine had a point to make with Jon Moss.
He has been booked . About bloody time. Not sure why Chris Hughton is complaining unless diving is not his favorite Olympic sport.
Brighton fans giving referee Moss and the Chelski lads a right booing now.
Aberdeen leads St. Helen Mirren 3-1 at the half in the Scots Cup.
I thought there was contact between Schelotto and Bakayoko, but you are a fully paid up member of the Defenders' Union, eh MUR?
Seagulls fans have come to the realization that a rolling stone does not gather any John Moss.
Yes I am , mate. Back in our day Nobody would have even considered that a penalty. That would have bee considered a wimpy challenge in our day
Antonio Conte's team appear to think that they only have to play for six minutes and then go into a coma.
The Blues wake up for a moment and try to kill things off through Hazard and Willian.
I don't think it was a pen. Didn't see the first one
I don't the comment...."there was contact"... so what! It's a contact sport
What I mean is that there was illegal contact; that is, the Bakayoko tripped the man.
Halifax vs the Orient Express has been postponed. Does anyone know why?
Batshuiyi with a neat turn and shot. Well wide.
Agreed, UWS. It is a contact sport. Under the current rules, I probably would have conceded ten penalties a match. It's frustrating watching players go down as if they've been polaxed from minimal contact.
Into stoppage time in the first half, then.
I thought he was going to call a penalty there... it was a dive!!
Half time
Shame Brighton didn't get a goal back
Now Hazard goes down , looking for a free kick just outside the box under very minimal contact from Suttner. He should have been booked for diving as well.
Chelsea two up at the half thanks to some really early goals.
Another decent shout for a pen there. Hazard seemed to be tripped, even if he was looking for it.
And that's half time. Chelski were great for five minutes but Brighton dominated after that are a wee bit unlucky not to be on level terms.
We're back on at the Amex for the second half. Brighton are still in this one if Chelski try to merely bolt the door.
The Second half is underway from the AMEX.
Kante called for a foul on Solly March that is illegl in January , March , or any month of the year for that matter.
A clash of heads between Christiansen and Shane Duffy off the resulting free kick.
An early clash of heads between Duffy and Christiansen. Both players down needing treatment.
Cue the Sideshow - David Luiz may get on if the big Dane can't continue.
This is the first time the Seagulls have hosted Chelsea in a top flight match.
Oh - Proper with a great header that rockets off the bar! How unlucky are Brighton this morning!
OH!!! The Seagulls have a shot come crashing off the woodwork.
Despite the Seagulls not scoring that was a Propper header. right, mate?
Aberdeen now leads st. Helen Mirren 4-1 in the Scots Cup.
Are Pedro and Moratta only banned for one game for the yellows midweek?
Shane Duffy booked for a foul on Hazard after he was initially well tackled by Dale Stephens.
Hazard gets fouled after losing the ball to start
Free kick chance for Chelsea
Correct, mate. Both were sent off for second yellows due to stupidity.
Willian... off the post!
Oh - Wiilian with a wonderful effort that Ryan just about pushes onto the post and out.
Just what the Doc ordered. The Sideshow on for Christiansen and
OH!!!! Matty Ryan superbly gets a finger tip to free kick from Willian to divert it on to the post.
Sideshow replaced the injured Christiansen who wasn't able to continue after that clash of heads. Ross Barkley now warming up.
Abdullah gives Sutton the lead vs Daggenham in an all London match in the Conference.
So, City to lose AGAIN today!!
Newcastle were 12 points ahead of United at the same point of the season in 1996... we all know what happened!
Who do City play today...Newcastle
I would luv it we beat them...luv it
Shot deflected
Corner to the Seagulls... a modern day one...sigh
Two matches in the Conference have been postponed :
Guiseley vs Barrow and Halifax vs the Orient Express. Both venues are located in West Yorkshire. Would it be that famous West Yorkshire weather??
Corners used to be a great scoring chance
Great memories, UWS. That famous Kevin Keegan rant that eneded up being the Toon's undoing. I was thinking about that after the Citeh defeat.
Bolarinwa puts Sutton two up vs Daggenham on the plastic pitch.
Also, Rochdale vs Southend on Sea has been postponed. That's across the Pennines from those two Conference matches.
Bloody hell... Brighton could have scored there... put it past the keeper!!!
Oh - Schelotto one-on-one with Willy Cabs couldn't beat his compatriot.
A striker... eight yards out... must score!!
OH!!! Schelotto was through, but his shot was blocked by fellow Argie, Willy Cabs,.
He should be charged Cab fare for that woeful so called finishing.
Do either of you go to that website at all?
I'm watching Only Fools and Horses right now
I will be watching BBC's Final Score on the Red Button channel and then BBC1
Not sure why Glenn Murray wasn't on from the start, as he's Brighton's top scorer, but he is on now for the last twenty five minutes or so.
A double substitution from Chris Hughton as Glenn Murray is on for Tomer Hemed and Kiram Bayal is on for Gross. Both are like for like.
I tried it when you first mentioned it, mate, but my ancient laptop can't handle it. I'm just trying to squeeze one more year out this machine before I plump for a new one in the summer.
I am sorry to say I haven't watched the website. I need to start.
No coverage of the Leeds v. Millwall match this afternoon. Grrr!
You guys really need to
It is great
Can watch channels from all countries... including USA for HBO and stuff
I'm off to make Katie some breakfast, lads. Back in a tick.
Sorry, mate. Villa vs Barnsley will be on ESPN 3 then the late one is a really evil; fixture between A Not A Big Club and Evil Neil's lads.
Cheers, Bob. Look forward to chatting with you during the 10 AMers.
Just found this
Not sure if it will work
Looks promising
https://www.sofascore.com/leeds-united-millwall/AsJ
Zapacosta on for Marcos Alonso.
I will try the link. Here's hoping that Leeds get off the sofa.
Hazard scores Chelsea's third...bugger!!
GOAL !!!! CHELSEA GO ON YET ANOTHER BREAK AND THIS TIME WILLIAN FINDS HAZARD , WHO FINISHES EASILY PAST THE STRANDED MATTY RYAN TO GO THREE UP.
Terrible defending... just letting him run run run and shoot
Yet again, The Seagulls cough up possession in midfield , but this time they paid the price.
Goldson booked for a foul on Hazard.
Agreed, UWS. Horrible defending.
Chelsea will end their streak of drawing every match in 2018.
The final roll of the dice for Conte as some young teenager named Musonga, is on for Willian.
I'm guessing that the youngster is trying to emulate Pogba as evidenced by his hairdoo.
The final roll of the dice from Chris Hughton as Izquierdo is marched on to the pitch in January.
Aberdeen has defeated St. Helen Mirren 4-1 in the Scots Cup.
This one is over and Shadow is getting very restless.
I'll take him for walkies and be back for the 3 o'clockers!
TTFN
Bats swings a shot straight to Matty Ryan
Cheers, UWS. Have a great walkies.
Pogba wannabe wins a free kick due to a less than Proper piece of Seagulls defending.
GOAL !!! THE SEAGULLS BREAK ONE OF THE COMMANDMENTS THAT THOU SHALT PROPERLY DEFEND AND ARE PUNISHED WITH A WELL PLACED FINISH BY MOSES.
A trio of stoppage time minutes
The goal was a fifteen pass possession that culminated in a long ball from Pogba wanabe that was chested down by Moses, who got behind the Seagulls back four and finished well past Ryan.
Daggenham pull one back at Sutton as it's now 2-1 to Sutton.
It's over at the AMEX as Chelsea easily thrash the Seagulls 0-4.
Back in the waning moments. I think 0-4 really flatters Chelsea as they did very little beyond score four goals. Brighton were really good at points and probably deserved a goal or two.
Classy by Hazard. A child holds a poster asking for Hazard's shirt and the Chelsea play maker obliges. Well in!
Sutton have defeated Daggenham 2-1.
There's a little boy in the crowd with a sign that reads, "Hazard #10 - can I have your shirt?" Cheeky!
Welcome back, mate. I agree, but the Seagulls are discovering that you get punished for every mistake at this level.
Off to take Sparky walkies ahead of the 10 AM kickoffs.
Here's an odd one: from the LUFC Twitter page: "We're pleased to welcome our special guest Nwankwo Kanu to our game against Millwall today." What?!
He's not still playing, is he?
Back from walkies on a foggy morning. Ready for the 10 AM kickoffs. Burnley vs United on NBCSN and the Gunners vs Palace on CNBC
I think he retired a while ago. Perhaps he is providing his expertise!
They're off from the EM.
The teams out at Turf Moor:
Burnley: Pope, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Cork, Defour, Gudmundsson, Hendrick, Arfield, Barnes
Subs: Lowton, Nkoudou, Westwood, Wells, Lindegaard, Long, Vokes
Man Utd: de Gea, Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Young, Pogba, Matic, Mata, Lingard, Martial, Lukaku
Subs: Rojo, Rashford, Romero, Ander Herrera, Shaw, Fellaini, McTominay
Welcome back, mate - are you watching both telly matches?
Now underway from Turf Moor!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Cheers, Bob. Yes I'm watching both
United on the front foot from the off.
The big news is the swap between United and the Gunners. Alexis off to United and Miki to the Gunners. I think we're the winners in this deal.
Another weekend has rolled around and the Alexis Sanchez deal still hasn't been completed. Are you frustrated that he isn't starting for you lot today?
Back after walkies...two minutes in
Jose tells everyone how great of a left back Shaw is yesterday and drops him today for Ashley Young
Did you check out that link I sent you Bob?
Cambridge take an early lead at bottom club , Forest Green
I agree with you, mate - you're swapping a squad player for a starter.
GOAL !!!NACHO GIVES THE GUNNERS AN EARLY LEAD.
I didn't see a link - where did you send it, mate?
Do you think he coming to OT? Everyone else seems to think so..make it happen then!
He wouldn't be Cup Tied for the FA Cup OR Champions League!
On this
Gooner will be cock-a-hoop about that one!
Hennessey had tipped over s shot from Iwobi then Nacho with a free header at the far post, headed in from the corner,.
The Moors near Turf Moor
Regis' power scores a goal for the Baggies at Goodison
Rondon has fired WBA into the front at Goodison Park.
As I stated , I think we're the big winners in the trade. I don't think Gooners will be pleased about the trade.
Find it Bob?
Great way for the Baggies to honor one of their all time greats
I have Final Score going on the Red Button channel
Very foggy in the moors, which would explain the cancellation of several matches in that part of England.
Arsenal are two up already
So are Villa
GOAL !!!IWOBI DIVERTS IN A PASS FROM nACHO TO PUT THE GUNNERS TWO UP. PALACE FAILED TO DEAL WITH A CORNER THEN FM WITH A POOR CLEARANCE THAT RESULTED IN THE PASS FROM NACHO FOR THE GOAL
That match is on ESPN3.
GOAL !!!KOS PUTS THE GUNNERS THREE UP.
Listening to 5 Live on the walk
A question was asked and it was blocked out before the answer
Eddie Howe is managing his 100th Premier League game today. He becomes the third youngest English manager to hit that mark
Who are the two younger English managers?
Wow...three nil!!
Just found it and tried it - didn't work. There are a lot of scam sites these days that don't actually work. You download things and then...nothing.
2-1 at Villa Park
Two of those Gunners goals from defenders - who needs Sanchez?
Two goals from corners. Nacho volleyed back the corner at the far post that left Kos with an easy tap in.
Sorry mate
I am not going to say anything negative about United
I promise!
Nacho with a goal and a pair of assists.
Arsenal seem home and hosed already.
Barnet takes a surprise lead vs Abe Lincoln. Port Vale takes the lead at presumably fogy Accrington Stanley
Eric Morecambe's Luton taking on Morecambe!
The fog may not have cleared from the Moors, but it just did in Harlingen. It looks like it's going t be a lovely day for the first time since MLK Day
Nice , UWS! Well done.
No worries - thanks for trying. I'm happy with the ESPN streaming service when they play us. Hopefully we'll be on the box every weekend next season...in the Premiership.
Bob and Yellows will not be pleased that the Evil Blades have taken the lead at CR
Martial with a chance... last touch took him too close to defender
NBC still has it 2-0 but it is 3-0 at the Em
Celtic two up vs Brechin in the Scots Cup.
Brora Rangers take the lead at East Barney Fife.
Heard some facts about that match too
Last time they met was in 1985.. Celtic won 7-0
Brechin hasn't scored against Celtic for over 100 years
Lucky Seven not so lucky as that's the number of Scots Cup matches postponed.
Blackcats take lead vs Tigers
Oh dear Leeds 0 Millwall 1
Villa 3-1 up
Fulham 1 up v Burton
Doidge, not Dodge , ties it up for bottom club Forest Green , vs Cambridge.
That goal at the Cottage was deflected off of Kate's shin
YIKES! THE GUNNERS GO FOUR UP VS PALACE.
Four nil Gunners
The Gazette with the goal
Bloody hell! I'm really irritated.
Leeds should have scored a couple
Millwall had a goal disallowed just before one that was allowed
Poor Palace defending yet again. A poor clearance and fifteen passes later, a one two between Beaker and Wilshere found the goal corer. I missed it but read about it in Lacazette.
First goal for Lacazette in ten matches. Who needs Alexis?
Boom boom
Not happy at all. We haven't got a win yet in January and are slipping behind the pack.
Come on United... make some chances
QPR 0 Boro 1
Interesting info about Celtic vs Brechin, I expect that scoreless streak to continue and wouldn't be surprised to see them or the Gunners be thirsty enough to go seven up.
Cambridge regain the lead at Forest Green . Now 1-2 ahead.
Forest Green 1 Cambridge 2
I really want Baiily back replacing Smalling
Sorry, Bob. Thanks, UWS>
Preston one up vs Brum
United still not creating anything
Not a criticism but an observation
