Up Early for the Cup!
I'm up at the crack of dawn to follow the start of what I hope will be a lengthy FA Cup run for my beloved Leeds United this season. We're off to L2's Newport County this morning. I'll be hoping for a professional showing. Later Arsenal visit Championship side Nottingham Forest. Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

Alas, there is no streaming or telly coverage of this morning's big match, so I'm left to follow my beloved on the LUFC website. Here's our starting team:

A great chance for Leeds inside the opening ten seconds, Jay-Roy Grot goes through on goal. he gets to the ball before Joe Day, but the Newport goalkeeper makes the save 0-0.

Correction: It's Gaetano's first ever career goal. It sparked mass celebrations in the away end, which he took part in, picking up a yellow card in the process.
Big chance for the home side at a corner, a combination of Berardi and Conor Shaughnessy clear the ball off the line! 0-1. Phew!
Chance for the home side, Matty Dolan's cross is met by Joss Labadie's head. but his effort is straight at Andy Lonergan 0-1.
Vurnon Anita tries his luck from range, but Day makes the save 0-1. We're half way through the first half now.
Chance for Newport, Labadie shoots in the box, his attempt deflects off Berardi and just over the crossbar.
Robbie Willmott's cross falls to Padraig Amond in the box, he strikes a volley just over the bar.
Pawel Cibicki strikes a free-kick from in excess of 30 yards, it deflects and Day makes the stop.
At the other end Willmott fires over with a half volley from just inside the Leeds box.
Coming to the end of the first half now. Leeds will go in 0-1 up. It's been the professional performance that I was hoping for.

This will be Davie Moyes first FA Cup match in charge of the Hammers. His first FA Cup match in charge of the Toffees was a loss to the very Shame Shrews. Moyes also played for the Shrews for three years. Joe Hart playing against his hometown team today.
Paul Hayes comes on and almost has an immediate impact, he fires just over with a half volley from 30 yards.

Another reminder that Moyes was a Shrews player for three seasons in the late 80s and this his Toffees were dumped out of the Cup at the Old Gay Meadow in 2003.

Martinez was sent out on loan to Oxford United last season and scored several goals in this competition. It would be interesting if he pops up with the winner.
