It's All on the Line!
With only three matches left in the Premier League (and two in the Championship) everything is on the line this weekend. Liverpool have already laid down a marker with a crushing 5-0 win over hapless Huddersfield. We start this morning with a London derby between Spurs and West Ham at their new patch. That's followed with a full slate of fixtures at 10am EST, including Fulham v. Cardiff on NBC Sports. We end with Brighton v. Newcastle at the end of the day.
Join me for all the fun today.

Good morning , Bob. Up for the matches with a hot cuppa ready. How have you been?
Morning, MUR - thanks for joining in. I've been brilliant - really good week. How about you? How's the countdown going?
It's the final weekend of the regular season for all the non league teams. Salford with a slim chance of automatic promotion, but more than likely to be in the playoffs with a first round bye
Doing well, thank you for asking. Only worked three days this week, so it was a good week.
The early match looks the top match of the day with all the other matches dealing with the relegation battle.
Spurs have been a flyer in their new home, winning four of four with eight goals scored and none conceded. Can they keep it up? We'll soon see. We're underway at High Road.
They're off from the Tater Tots Stadium
Peter Dreary and Kevin Kilbane on the microphones this morning.
Hammers attacking early on. and a shot from about 25 yards out from Declan Rice is not too far over.
Nice use of the pun, mate. Well in.He lives on Drury Lane.
A marathon day in the Championship with the Evil Lions vs Stoke kicking off in half an hour, the 10 AMers, Evil Blades vs Tractor boys at 12:15, and Canaries vs Blackburn at 2:30. Bob will be hoping for a few shock results.
A quiet start to this one.
I saw Julie Andrews perform once at the Drury Lane Theatre as it happens.
WOW ! That's quite an experience.. Would love to have seen that.
WAY HAY! Salford take the lead at Jeff's lads.
Number On Son got behind the Hammers defense off a nice through ball sandwiched in by Delle Alli , but his shot was easily saved at the near post by Flappy.
Salford need a win for Orient to lose to already relegated Braintree, and a four goal swing to win automatic promotion. Also for Solihull to not win by more than five goals at Daggenham than Salford
Spurs are beginning to assert themselves after a slow-ish start. Moura is at the heart of everything.
You are a true student of the game, mate.
Harrogate takes the lead at Wrexham. Those two could meet in the playoffs later this week. Harrogate partners in promotion with Salford last season and now about being successful in the playoffs.
Cheers, mate. Also, thanks to UWS for referring us to FOTMOB , which makes so easy to access scores.
Long range near post effort from Ryan Fredricks pushed around by Lloris . Corner headed off target by Antonio.
Anderson through on goal and shoots straight at Lloris from a narrow angle . A furious Arnautovic was wide open
Oh - Felipe Anderson was straight through on goal but prodded it right at Lloris. Arnautovic was not best pleased to be ignored there.
As a student of the game, it's my duty to inform that you that Ross County clinched promotion back to the SPL at the first attempt, with a 4-0 win vs Ayr yesterday
Long range effort from Antonio lands in Row E. That's an E for effort.
Great by Dioup off that pop from number One Son , results in a Spurs corner
Oh - Lucas Moura is a whisker away from opening the scoring.
OH!!!! The closest either team has come to scoring. Long range effort from Lucas Mora inches wide.
Our old friend Snoddy picks up the game's first yellow card for a hack on Moura.
Was that an LUFC tackle mate? Snoddy booked because the ref wants no Mora that, mate.
COME ON BRAINTREE!
Straight off the training pitch at Thorp Arch, mate!
Evil Lions vs Stoke kicks off when the second half of this match begins. An win for the Evil Lions clinches safety for them and all but relegates Rotherham
LOL! Thanks for the clarification!
Oh - great pressure from Spurs produces a chance for Erickson at close range. Flappy did well.
Close range block by Flappy from Eriksen off pin pong in the Hammers box. A spell of pressure from the Spurs
Another close range block by Flappy, this time from Number One Son, who was just offside.
Lloris had to be alert to push away a rocket of a pass from Masuaku
Dele goes down looking for something. Nothing doing from the ref who might have booked him.
Oh - Anderson tried a pop and it was deflected. Lloris did well to recover.
No stoppage time at all, as the half time whistle comes. I'm off to make my brekkies.
It's 0-0 at the half at the Tater Tot. SPurs to lose their perfect record at the new digs?
Main change in the National League is Wrexham tying it up vs Harrogate as those two will probably meet again later this week.
second half underway from the Tater Tot
Hey Boys
Watched most of the first half in bed. I have showered and shaved and was ready to sit down to join you but now I have to go off to Saratoga...and your horse it naturally won...to drop something off to Jonathan who is at a video game tournament
I'll be back later...hopefully to join you guys.... but not many games excite me though
Ryan Fredricks with a shot blocked for a corner off a pass from Arnautovic off a nice through ball from Mark Noble.
Morning, UWS - how are you mate ?
I'm back with the Official Brekkies of the LOB for the second half.
Good morning, UWS. Agreed regarding today's games. Have fun at the races.
Welcome back. Chomping in to some bagels?
The Hammers are well capable to sneaking a goal here. Real danger for Spurs.
Indeed I am, mate!
Bob and Steve will be interested to note that both their teams have a dreaded noon kickoff tomorrow. Both against Midlands opposition.
Spurs yet to concede in the new stadium. Will they this half?
I'll be up early doors for that nonsense. I expect that you'll have a nice lie in on a Sunday morning.
Davinson Sanchez fouls Felipe Anderson off a nice long diagonal pass from Antonio.
I may be around for the second half. You will be interested to note that Villa manager, Dean Smith was in charge of the Bees when they played at ER earlier this season. That match finished 1-1
Some help today from the already relegated Tractor Boys and mid table Blackburn would be greatly appreciated.
Daggenham takes the lead vs the Moors from Solihull. Salford still need help from Braintree.
Number One Son went down off a challenge from Masuaku. Looks like he lost his footing. A penalty would have been a harsh decision, IMHO
I'm worried about Villa because they've been on a tear since we've been stuttering. They're likely to be in and around the Playoff Final, so it would be a tonic to notch a good victory over them at home.
Valbuena fouls Danny Rose just outside the Hammers box.
Agreed. May be a dress rehearsal for the playoff Final!
Erickson lines up a dangerous looking free kick.
Into the wall by Eriksen. Congress did not fund that wall.
Erickson smashes it into the wall and WH run it back up the pitch.
The Hammers then win a corner off a shot from Felipe Anderson
BUGGER! Jeff's lads tie it up vs Alford while the Orient Express takes the lad vs Braintree. Salford pretty much set for the playoffs.
Solihull Moors tie it up vs Daggenham, which is now basically meaningless.
A correction . Still 0-0 at the Orient Express, but Salford now need five goals plus one from Braintree.
The Llorente Express on for Lucas Mora.
Keep me apprised, mate - I'm on the edge of my seat about it. ;-)
GOAL! Well, well, well! Antonio fires the Hammers into the lead.
GOAL !!! SPURS CONCEDE THEIR FIRST GOAL AT THE NEW STADIUM ANTONIO WITH A ROCKET
A long Spurs clearance was picked up at the halfway line. Several passes later, Dclan Rice played a pass wide left to Arnautovic . His cross was chested in by Antonio and rocketed into the upper 90 as he got behind Davinson Sanchez.
That is a tonic for you lot, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Seems like nobody third through sixth is interested in qualifying for the CL.
We play Chelsea tomorrow in the late one, which be a huge match
Celtic takes a second half lead vs Killie
As things stand, Celtic will clinch the SPL tomorrow if Rangers lose or draw vs Aberdeen tomorrow.
Obbiang on for Snoddy as Manny Pelligrini shuts up shop. Janssen , who played for the Spurs for the first time in over a year in midweek, on for Danny Rose ans the Spurs play with an extra striker.
Jannssen immediately wins a corner that's cleared.
Oh - Arnie tries a curler. He's done his hammy and will have to come off, though.
Hammers with a long spell of possession and a curler from Arnautovic from the edge of the box forces a decent save from Flappy.
The High Road faithful urging their side on.
Lucas Perez on for Arnautovic.
Hammers nearly go two up. Long ball finds Anotonio , who forces a near post save from Lloris for a corner.
Hammers win another corner.
BUGGER! Jeff's lads now lead Salford 2-1
Jeff's lads now lead Salford 3-1
Salfrod now third , but still has a first round bye in the playoffs.
Wanyama on for Delle Alli. Why that change when Spurs need a goal?
Ogbonna on for Mark Noble . I get that one as the Hammers put on an extra defender to hold on that one goal lead.
Oh - Lloris just gets fingertips to Diop's drive.
IOH!!!Hammers should have gone two up. Dioup won a tackle deep in the Spurs half, went on a 50 yard run and had a shot saved with just lloris to beat.
Still a few minutes to play. Too early to congratulate the Orient Express on promotion to the Football League after a two year absence?
No - go on and celebrate it, mate.
The Llorente Express chugs forward but doesn't reach the depot.
The forgotten man Janssen tries to swing a cross back across the area. Well held by Flappy.
Flappy does not flap , but does well to hold on to a powerfully volleyed cross from Janssen
Oh - Antonio nearly in there again but Davison Sanchez nudged him aside.
Bob singing a barber shop quartet of stoppage time minutes
Spurs have four stoppage minutes to dig this one out.
Am I singing, "If I Had a Hammer?"
It's 0-0 at the half between the Evil Lions and the Potters
The ball drops to Janssen who shows why he's been on the bench for his entire Spurs career.
No, You're singing "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles."
Janssen was even loaned out to a Turkish club
Nice one, mate!
Oh - off the line from Janssen's header!
OH!! Great cross and a close rang header by Janssen superbly saved by Flappy.
That's it - The Hammers have put a big dent in Spurs' hopes of a Champions League future.
I'm off to do a couple of chores before the 10 am EST kickoffs.
Over at the Tots Stadium and the Hammers record a shock 0-1 win
First ever goal conceded by Spurs and first home loss in the new digs.
I am back for a bit
No one wants to the top four!!!
Welcome back, UWS - great result for your lot, eh?
Up next, we've got the relegation watch. The obvious match to watch is Fulham v. Cardiff, where the away side will be desperate for a win. Brighton, their nearest rivals, play later this afternoon.
I guess but not really that important. The Chelsea match and Arsenal dropping points is more important
Team news out of The Cottage this afternoon:
Fulham (4-2-3-1) Rico; Odoi, Le Marchand, Ream, Bryan; Chambers, Anguissa; Sessegnon, Cairney, Babel; Mitrovic.
Cardiff (4-2-3-1) Etheridge; Peltier, Morrison, Manga, Bennett; Gunnarsson, Bacuna; Hoilett, Camarasa, Mendez-Laing; Niasse.
Back from walkies, ready for the 10 AM matches
CNBC is playing the South Coast Derby, for what it's worth.
Somehow, I had these comments connected to my email
I came home to SEVENTY emails!
Biggest match of the day
Sunderland vs Pompey!
NBCSN airing Cardiff's trip to Bob and Kate's while CNBC showing Saints vs Cherries. Saints will clinch safety with a win AND if Cardiff lose or draw at Bob and Kate's It's possible.
ESPN + has been great....thanks again Bob... but the choices of games???
Boro Reading?
Lions vs Potters still 0-0 midway through the second half.
We are off at Bob and Kate's
Glad they moved the coffee table away from the center circle
They're off almost simultaneously from Bob and Kate's and St. Mary's
We're away at The Cottage. Fulham have allowed 76 goals this season! Cardiff only need one.
I'm hoping that we can be stingy hosts at The Cottage today.
Welcome back, UWS. Agreed about the Black Cats vs Pompey. These two met in a penalty shootout thriller in the EFL Trophy Final just a few weeks ago
I was watching some old clips of Football Focus, On the Ball and Saint and Greavsie this week
I happened to see a program from March of 1989. The year that Arsenal won at Anfield to win the league. Well.... the top four during this program
1 Arsenal
2 Norwich
3 Millwall
4 Liverppol
Cottagers have won two on the trot without conceding . Scotty Parker has them playing Stingy football.
Schalke have taken a 1-2 lead at Dortmund in a crucial one in the Bundesliga.
Warny winless in ten visits to the Cottage. Some of those pre Bob and Kate
That's a local derby , mate
Where were you watching those clips, UWS - YouTube?
Cardiff undefeated vs the bottom five, but so are the Cottagers vs bottom five at Bob and Kate's . As Ian Darke said, something has to give,
If Pompey win all three of there games, they will be automatically promoted. That is not the case for Sunderland after their dropping of points last week
If Pompey don't win them all, they will probably fill Wembley again for another match with the Black Cats
The two Dave's bummed as the Orient Express were held 0-0 by already relegated Braintree , but win promotion back to the Football League after a two year absence . Salford lost 3-2 at Jeff's place and the Moors of Solihull drew 1-1 at Daggenham. The Moors finish second and Salford third , meaning those are the two teams with a first round bye in the playoffs. Make sense?
Pompey would have to be favored because the Black Cats have that Wembley hoodoo.
Monk's lads in the lead vs Wigan.
Black Cats take the lead vs Pompey. Congrats, Fred. Sorry, Dave
Not sure if you mentioned but Leyton Orient are back into League Football after a nil niller at home to Braintree
Salford were winning at Hartlepool but lost 3-2 and finish in third behind Solihul M
Not sure how the play off goes for that second spot
On FotMob, 2-3 are a yellow shade and 4-7 is another shade of yellow
I guess 4-7 play and then the winners play 2-3?
I'll google it
Is Fred dancing in the kitchen, MUR?
Wednesday fall behind at Deepdale on Saturday
GOAL !!SAINTS TAKE A LEAD THAT'S CLOSE TO CLINCHING SAFETY
Yes, on Youtube
Saints take the lead in the south coast derby
Nice Saints possession . Hoijberg played a long ball to Redmond and he passed back for Prem record breaker, Shane Long to score w well placed finish
Correct, UWS. it's 4th vs 7th and 5th vs 6th . In the semis, 2nd vs lowest placed previous round winner and third vs best placed winner.
All single elimination with the highest ranked team being the home team. Final at Wembley
It is a one off Semi final play off at Solihol and Salford
Is the Final at neutral venue? Wembley?
Dunno
Bummer... Sunderland take the lead
First Round playoffs :
Wrexham vs Eastleigh
AFC Fylde vs Harrogate
Semis:
Solihull Moors vs lowest placed winner
Salford vs highest placed winner.
Fulham are reduced to ten for a moment.
Big match at Ashton Gate. Derby take the lead
These are the two teams Leeds could face
Yes. Final at Wembley. A pre semi round before the semis. Salford and Solihull have a first round bye
Hope my explanations helped.
GOAL !!!RYAN GOSLING TIES IT UP FOR THE CHERRIES ON THE COUNTER WITH THEIR FIRST SHOT ON TARGET
I'm watching the last match
1-1 at St Marys
Wrong match not last match!!
Cherries with a Citeh type break. Saints going for a second goal. Cherries won a tackle in their own box and four passes later Gosling shot past former Saints Keeper, Boruc
Odoi seems to be in real trouble. Long delay as he's being treated.
Big goal at the bottom of the lot
Yeovil take the lead at Northampton
Could be curtains for Notts
Millwall and Stoke end scoreless
Wee Ryan on for the injured Chris Mepham. Stoppage at the Cottage due to an injury
Strange stuff going on the Cottage
The bloke knocked out, tried to get up and now he's on the ground
Barnsley fall behind at home to Blackpool
Shane Long with a close range effort saved by Angus Gunn then the rebound off the post with a wide open goal
This is a time they should just stop the clock! Why have 10 minute added time
Why isn't the Sub on already
Black Cats a point behind Barnsley and Pompey two. Pompey and Black Cats play on Tuesday. Sunderland at a Fleetwood Mac concert and Pompey host Posh
Pompey tie it up. Congrats, Dave . Sorry, Fred
Pompey tie it up
Scores stay the same... Pompey still have it in in their own hands
Now Pompey a point behind Barnsley and Black Cats three points behind
Already relegated Bradford City three up at Scunny, who are in the drop zone
Yeovil take the lead at Northants
Yeovil out of the drop zone , ahead of Sol's lads on goal difference and two point s ahead of Notts.
Ipswich surprise everyone and win today and then concede nine to Leeds next week
It might happen!
Yeovil two up at Northants
When did that happen?
Yeovil two up
GOAL !!!! CALLY WILSON GIVES THE CHERRIES A 2-1 LEAD OFF BUTTER FINGERS , ANGUS GUNN
Boro 1 Reading 1
Southampton still aren't safe
Cherries first goal off their first shot on target of the match, second goal off their first corner of the match
Luton take the lead
UWS will be pleased to read that the goal came from a short corner. Cross from Brooks headed out then long range effort from Brooks saved by Angus Gunn and Cally Wilson put away the rebound
That's great new for Cardiff.
NO
And for the Seagulls.
Not sure who I'd prefer to get in the playoff semi. I suppose Derby, given the record. We beat them home and away this season, albeit with the asterisk of the Spygate nonsense.
We drew Boro home and away.
Carlisle four up vs Crawley while Morecambe and Wise take the lead at Cambridge
Desmond watching Motherwell vs Crocodile Dundee.
Swans take the lead vs Hull
Saints when their second corner of the match. Scored off their first. Didn't score this time.
Not sure if it matters who Leeds would face in the playoffs. ll of about equal quality. Leeds just need to play at their best
