Hurrah! It's Saturday Again!
Morning, chaps! After a bruising week at work, it's a real pleasure to settle in for a morning of the good stuff. We start early as usual with Arsenal in their first home match of the season against Burnley. They got off to a winning start last weekend; can they treat their home support to another victory in a lunch-time kickoff. Then there are the traditional 10am kickoffs, which include a full slate of Championship matches including Leeds' journey to Wigan. Liverpool visit St. Mary's to play Southampton on the NBC match. Finally, we've got the weekend's big one between Citeh and Spurs.
I'll look forward to the pleasure of your company.

Good morning, Bob. Up to join you for the Prem matches.
UWS and Fred may be watching the Black Cats vs Pompey on Plus , which also kicks off at 7:30. The Championship match on Plus is Forest vs Brum
Morning boys, I am up in my bed recovering from yesterday
I have the football on the computer, Pompey on the computer and the Ashes Test Match on my phone
Of course, there is Soccer Saturday from ten... LOVE IT
It's like I planned it
Went to Plus and the coverage started immediately
Pompey wearing gray shirts.... IT CLASHES MORE THAN BLUE!
Have the match on Plus on . Teams in the tunnel at the SOL. Black Cats in their traditional kits and Pompey in all gray
Good morning, UWS. Am watching the match on Plus as well.
What happened yesterday?
Morning, chaps - great to have you on board!
They're off from The Em.
Team news as we get underway at the Em:
Arsenal: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Luiz, Papastathopoulos, Monreal, Ceballos, Guendouzi, Nelson, Willock, Aubameyang, Lacazette.
Subs: Mkhitaryan, Torreira, Pepe, Chambers, Martinez, Kolasinac, Gabriel Martinelli.
Burnley: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters, Gudmundsson, Cork, Westwood, McNeil, Wood, Barnes.
Subs: Taylor, Hendrick, Gibson, Rodriguez, Hart, Lennon, Bardsley.
Referee: Mike Dean (Wirral).
Funny that blue clashes with red and white stripes up North today but doesn't at Wembley last year
Of at the Em
and now off at the SOL
Good morning, Bob. Great to the pleasure of everyone's company
Had my knew surgery yesterday
Agreed about the kits at the SOL. I don't get it
They're off from the SOL
Burnley had a chance there... cross was just too high for someone wide open inside the six
Thanks again for the Gold package, UWS - I'll look forward to the Soccer Saturday coverage.
Sorry, Dave. I had forgotten. I really do wish you a speedy recovery. Hope all goes well for you.
My pleasure.
Did you give the info to Steve?
Thanks for Plus
I second that. Thank you very much for Gold.
Thanks MUR
Yes. Thanks for Plus
Bit of a early madness from Sideshow Bob there in his first start for the Gunners. Not sure what Stan the Man would have yelled at me if I'd ever played a square ball across my goal-line like that!
You're welcome too MUR... you have to root for Pompey today tho
DRIVES ME NUTS
Unfortunately, Leeds not on Plus today nor on Wednesday
Sorry, I thought he was on the original text between. I'll email him about it today.
I saw that - grrrrr!
Coach B would have if not Stan the Man. It wasn't permitted even though Coach B encouraged m to pass from the back, but vertically, not horizontally.
I think we have to blame SKY or BT Sports because Plus merely streams their feeds.
I'm not sure he was or wasn't
I know I have a couple of threads going... one not to bother him at work during the summer
Tell him I was always meaning to invite him
So there are 3 Nocito, 2 Dahlgren and a Goldstein on Gold... Glad they don't mind
I've told the boys not to share with their friends
Fred lying in the couch because he has been starting to show signs of age over this Summer. Had a few health problems , ut is in the recovery mode.
The Gunners win a corner and the corner from Real loanee, Dani Ceballos headed out for another.
No sure when I should move downstairs!
Hand ball on Ben Mee just outside the Burnley box. Great chance for the Gunners. Piters heads away the free kick from Ceballos then Nick Pope tips over a shot that I missed , but read about in La Cazette.
GOAL! Lacazette draws first blood!
The Gazette has s close ranger header saved.
The following corner was crap BUT The Gazette hits the headlines... right thru the leg... NUTS
GOAL !!! I COMPLETELY MISSED IT BUT READ ABOUT IT IN LA CAZETTE. OFF THE NEXT CORNER. FIZZED ABOUT IN THE BOX AND THE STRIKER SHOWED GREAT FEET, BUT A SOFT SHOT THROUGH THE LEGS OF NICK POPE. POOR KEEPING
Poor by Burnley . Ben Mee with a stupid hand ball just outside the box then really poor keeping off the second corner
UWS, did you ever respond to MUR about what you're recovering from this morning?
Ashley Barnes with a chance and it's wide off a long ball.
Agreed, MUR - Ben Mee won't like to review the video on that one.
Yes he did. We are definitely wishing him a speedy recovery.
Agreed, Bob. It wasn't Mee , but him
I did
Knee surgery. I did tell you guys about it last weekend
You two have minds like Swiss Cheese
Sideshow Bob heads out for a Burnley corner. Should have let Jay Leno catch that
Oh - point blank save by Leno. Wouldn't have couldn't anyway as Tarkovsky was clearly offside.
OH!!!! Great close range block by Leno. Corner headed on and a header from Tark blocked from poin t blank range, but flagged offside
Sorry, mate - I had forgotten. Tough week at work. Hope that you're recovering comfortably. How long do you have to stay off of it?
Only a couple of days on crutches then see how it is
The Gooner must be delighted as he doesn't like Burnley. Not sure if he's pleased about the signing of Sideshow Bob.
Total chaos in the Arsenal box again. How did Burnley not equalize from that?
I don't understand.... you two weren't sitting vigil in a quiet room yesterday at 11 for me?
Very disapoointing
Poor defending by the Gunners off another corner, but they clear it away.
I think he was okay with it. Obviously he was none to pleased that Koscielny left. He's not a Mustafi fan.
Glad it's just a couple of days and not a lengthy period of time.
I think Kos wanted to leave and the Gunners couldn't keep him. Definitely disappointing
YES!! Pompey have taken a very deserved lead
Pieters clears a pass from MAitland-Niles for a Gunners corner.
What does Steve think about Ozil a possible replacement for Waza?
I don't know if he ever commented about Wayne leaving?
Congratulations, UWS. Scored by Harness off a deflected effort, but they all count
Arsenal looking none to accomplished at the back today. The Gooner must be having kittens!
So...no vigil?
Nacho has eaten his way to and offside position. Cut in front of the line.
Sorry, UWS. I had forgotten. Is it too late?
He's happy that Roon will be able to stay through the end of this MLS season and then best of luck to him. Not sure he's that keen on Ozil as a replacement, given his lackadaisical approach to life at Arsenal. Lazy players like that don't usually do well in the MLS.
Bugger... Sudneralnd tie it up
Maitland - Niles clears a pass from McNeil for a Burnley corner. The Gunners counter.
Sorry, mate - I was in amongst it at work.
Weak excuses from both of you!
I must be about thirty seconds behind. Just saw the header from the corner. Great well placed header
I sure hope the surgery worked
I don't want to limp anymore
See if you can push the LIVE button
Gudmunsson wins a corner off of Reiss Nelson
I did , but it keeps staying that little bit behind
Hoping for the best for you, mate.
Reiss Nelson straight at Nick Pope, who is forced to punch away die to the power of the shot
Not great from Nick Pope there. Wouldn't like to see that if he were wearing an England kit.
Burnley free kick due to a shirt pull.
Thanks mate
thinking about making the move downstairs now
I'll take a while!
Aubama picks up a silly yellow card for not retreating 10 yards for the free kick.
Aubama booked by the Dean of officials for not being far enough back on a free kick
Barnes got himself free for the free kick there but his header was off balanced.
Ashley Barnes with a free header off the free kick and straight to Jay Leno
Should I play The Benny Hill Theme in the background while you're making your way downstairs, UWS? ;-)
GOAL !!! MAGUIRE PUTS THE BLACK CATS 2-1 UP WITH AN EASY TAP IN. LONG DIAGONAL PLAYED WIDE L;EFT THEN PASSED TO MCGEADY WHO PUT IN A NICE PASS FOR THAT TAP IN
BUGGER
Oh - Guendhouzi strides forward and unleashes a shot that Pope has to save with his feet!
Kick save by Nick Pope from the French Hair bear for a Gunners corner
That would be appropriate....not attempted it yet
Working on it
LOL, Bob! I was thinking something more dramatic. Upstairs Downstairs!
GOAL! Barnes equalizes!
GOAL !!! ASHLEY BARNES TIES IT UP FOR BURNLEY. CAME OFF A SHOT THAT DEFLECTED FROM DWIGHT MCNEIL OFF A PASS FROM CHRIS WOOD. BEING CHECKED BY VAR FOR POSSIBLE OFFSIDE.
Barnes in the race for GBB. Did anyone pick him? Highly unlikely.
A bit jammy there. Barnes intercepted a cross shot and then somehow contrived to muscle Luiz out of the way and toe poke home. No matter - it's his third of the season and he's level with Raheem Sterling at the top.
Nelson has the ball in the net but someone was flagged offside.
A minute of stoppage time at the EM and Nacho has a goal disallowed for offside.
Now Var reviewing the decision.
It's offside Still 1-1.
It's 1-1 at the half at the EM. A minute of a pair of stoppage time remaining at the SOL.
And there's the half-time whistle. Arsenal got off to a bright start but they looked fragile at the back throughout that first half and Burnley got a deserved equalizer.
The Black Cats have come from behind to lead 2-1 at the half.
Finally downstairs...watching the highlights...DIDN'T KNOW BURNLEY EQUALIZED!
23 years ago today
Bekcham scores his "absolutely phenomenal" according to Motto with his goal from his own half against Wimbledon
Come 10 o'clock, I won't have Plus going but I will have Soccer Saturday and Goal Rush on my computer. It will have a match and all the goals as they go in
Tune it in
Pepe on for the Gooners
Glad it isn't the dirty Portuguese bloke
Wish it was Pele
Second half underway from the EM and the Gunners immediately win a corner taken short.
He replaced Reiss Nelson.
Me too thanks to Dave
Second half underway from the SOL
Second hal underway now.
MCNulty down for the Black Cats. Was it a McNaughty challenge?
The Cottagers won 1-2 at the Terriers yesterday. Too early to tell how that affects Leeds.
Nice Gunners possession and a shot from Aubama is just high and wide.
McNeil clears for a corner off a poor touch from Maitland-Niles
Tark heads out for another Gunners corner.
Corner taken short and high and wide by Maitland- Niles with a long range effort.
OH! Great close block by Nick Pope from Aubama off a great through ball from Pepe.
New boy Jay Rodriguez coming on now for Chris Wood.
J Rod on for a Burnley on his debut in his second spell at Burnley. On for Chris Wood.,
Nice effort from new boy Dani Ceballos. Turned around by Pope.
OH!!! Nick Pope superbly turns a round a long range effort from Dani Ceballos
Pompey with a double substitution.
Goal...Gunners retake the lead
Aubum with the goal
GOAL !! AUBAMA GIVES THE gUNNERS A 2-1 LEAD.
GOAL! Aubama fires the Gunners back into the lead!
Goal given away in their own half...stupidity!
You defenders are that skillful...if you were then you'd be up top
No offense boys
Dani Ceballos won a tackle in midfield. The ball broke to Aubama and he cut in to score from just outside the box.
The Gunners will top the league at least temporarily if this remains the same scoreline.
Ashley Westwood with an off the ball cheap shot on Ceballos. Should have been at least a booking
As the goal was being scored, I was in the middle of typing that Burnley would be top...alas no
Good news for the Gooner.
Burnley will have to push for a leveler now, with the attendant risks involved.
Sideshow Bob clears a pass from MAtty Lowton for Burnley's first corner of the half. The Gunners counter.
I was about to type that this would be two dropped points for the Gunners - great minds think alike, UWS.
Kolasinac to come on for the Gunners . Great news for Gunners fans
I read about Kolasinac's return in La Cazette.
That's one for the LUFC Academy factor as the Wee Beetle is on for Gudmunsson.
The LUFC Academy factor has just come into play. Aaron Lennon coming on for Burnley.
Arsenal could start with two win this season...last season they lost their first two!
I think that was to City and Chelsea
This year, the two wins have not been that impressive but who cares
Play Up Pompey
Pompey Play Up
Final roll of the dice from Kenny Jackett
Exactly - three points are three points but I'm not at all convinced by this Gunners side.
Steve will be please that both his top men have opened their accounts for the season. Have no idea why The Gazette didn't play last week... PLAY BOTH!
I was pleased that Rash and Martial both scored last week too
Great close range kick save by the Black Cats keeper.
Agreed. Fifth is probably about the best we can expect from the Gunners. What will happen when they face the top sides?
Arsenal had a real chance there but Kolasinac drifted offside. Not sure his mind is on this match.
Max Power heads away a Pompey free kick for a corner. McGeady was booked.
Will Grigg's on Fire as he's on for Aiden McGeady.
A standing ovation for Dani Ceballos off a great debut as he's replaced by the more defensive Torreira.
Burnley still pushing for an equalizer. Arsenal would be gutted to throw away two points now. UWS hates it but it's match management time now.
Aubama wins a Gunners corner.
Aubama tries to pick out Pepe Le Pew but the cross is cut out for a corner.
Hated as much as those stoppage time substitutions?
Jay Leno and Torreira down as they collided into each other.
Modern day football
I was looking on Instagram yesterday and they were showing goals from City/Spurs games over the years
One of them, you could hear the commentator saying... too much needless passing by Spurs.... EVERY TEAM DOES THAT NOW
Are either of you on Instagram? I don't do BookFace but I do have an Insta act
Torreira's down for some timely time wasting now.
Come on Pompey...two away losses in a row won't be a good start
Both players up and play resumes.
again...these two shirts at SoL are clashing in my book
No - I've never done any other social media other than FB. I just don't have the time for it.
BookFace takes more time than Insta
Great close range block by Pope from Torreira. A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time minutes
Instagram is the ONLY thing I do
Four added min at SoL
I think there is only next weekend before we have an international break
Socrates booked for a less than philosophical challenge on Ashley Barnes.
arsenal break.... The Gazette blows the pass
Arsenal had a two on one there but they bollixed it up.
Same amount of stoppage time at the SOL.
Last ditch corner effort now for Burnley. This really would be gut punch if the Clarets scored now.
Pepe with the bad pass
He didn't do everything right. The pass was behind him
Arsenal survive a corner and now there is another one to defend
There are two weekends before the international break
Rodriguez with a spectacular overhead...should have kicked it like that but put it back in the middle
Is looking like eleven Gunners wins in a row vs Burnley
Now it's Barnes and Kolasinac going after each other and Barnes picks up a yellow for the argy bargy.
Ashley BArnes booked for a rugby hold on Kolasinac.
Arsenal are on top
That's that - Arsenal open up their campaign with two wins. Burnley are knocked off their early perch. I'm off to do some dishes before the big one at 10am.
It's over at both the EM and the SOL. Gunners win 2-1 as do the Black Cats vs Pompey
Arsenal acting like the Red Sox with Sweet Caroline
Adrian is fit to start for Liverpool after he was taking out by a fan after the Super Cup win
Did you see there were a couple of lists of trophies won by United and Liverpool
United had one more than Liverpool counting Charity Shields but one behind not counting them
Well, the list of United being behind IS counting Super Cups...isn't that the European version of the Charity Shield?
I want to tune in the match at Villa Park to start
Should be a great atmosphere
I hope the Goal Zone match is from Villa Park
Got my computer all ready to open up two windows of Gold
Back for the big one now. Here's the team news:
Casilla, Douglas, White, Cooper, Dallas, Phillips, Forshaw, Klich, Harrison, Hernandez, Bamford. Subs: Meslier, Alioski, Nketiah, Costa, Berardi, Bogusz, Shackleton.
Brilliant stuff they are showing for SS!!
Goal Rush Link has started
Still waiting for SS
I wish that they would start SS at 930 and end at 1230
Goal Rush is at St Marys
Bugger
Maybe not
They are going around all the grounds as they come out
Hope Steve tunes into SS
He sent a thank you email
Steve Bruce taking his team to his old team before United bought him
Goal Rush is on the south coast
COME ON SS
START!!
Off at Villa Park
I want my money back...START!
