A Crucial Weekend in the Prem
It's a big day in the Premier League, with loads of interesting clashes that will help to the clarify the picture in the league. We start with Spurs, fresh off a disappointing Champions League start in midweek, traveling to Leicester for a tricky fixture. At the same time, I'll have my eyes firmly planted on my beloved Leeds in their home match with Derby.
At 10am, we've got Soccer Saturday and the usual fleet of matches, including Man City v. Watford on NBC Sports. Just in case that's not enough footie for your Saturday morning, we head into the afternoon with Brighton v. Newcastle.
Join me for all the action here on the LOB!

Morning Boys
I have guests but will comment when I can
Good morning, Bob and Dave. Here to join you for both the Prem and Championship matches
Steve will be able to watch his beloved tomorrow on Gold... last season the Arse were on Gold quite often. VERY ANNOYING!
I think it was only one or two times for United
Morning, UWS - say hello to the guests for me.
Morning, MUR! How are you, mate?
Strange team news out of Spurs
Lloris and Deli Alli not even in the squad!
Ericksen on the bench
My beloved Leeds United's home form at the start of this season has been worrying, with only one slender win against Brentford, a draw with Forest and a loss to Swansea, as compared with three big wins away from home. Today, Derby County join us on the sacred turf at Elland Road. Let's hope the boss has had someone peeking over the hedges at the Rams' training sessions this week. We need a big win today in front of our home support.
Leicester XI: Schmeichel, Pereira, Evans, Soyuncu, Chilwell, Barnes, Tielemans, Ndidi, Perez, Maddison, Vardy
Substitutes: Ward, Justin, Morgan, Gray, Albrighton, Choudhury, Praet
Spurs XI: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Ndombele, Winks, Lamela, Sissoko, Son, Kane
Substitutes: Whiteman, Wanyama, Dier, Eriksen, Moura, Skipp, Davies
I think there should be some sort of revenge for your lot today!
Got the Leeds link just as they're coming out of the tunnel
Cheers mate
The teams are out in the tunnel . Revenge in the air at Fred Town, mate? A repeat of the playoff semi last Spring
Erickson is clearly heading out of the club in January, but Dele's ongoing poor form has got to be worrying for him and his manager. I can't really see his pushing out the likes of Son and Lucas Moura who have been on fire this season, let alone the dynamic front line that England have been rolling out in recent internationals.
Doing well, thank you for asking. How about everyone else?
Leeds haven't been in the Premier League since 2004...I was only half way thru my career back then!!
MOT in full volume at ER
Let's start it early
IT'S LEEDS TIME
We are off at the King Power
It's been too long , mate. Time for Leeds to be back in the big time.
The team news out of Elland Road:
Leeds United: Casilla, Dallas, Cooper, White, Berardi, Phillips, Shackleton, Klich, Harrison, Hernandez, Bamford. Subs: Meslier, Douglas, Roberts, Nketiah, Costa, Berardi, Gotts.
Derby County: Roos, Malone, Clarke, Holmes, Keogh, Lowe, Huddlestone, Bielik, Jozefzoon, Marriott, Waghorn. Subs: Hamer, Paterson, Dowell, Martin, Davies, Knight, Buchanan.
They're off from the KP then 40 seconds later at ER
Thanks, mate - I hope we can do over Cocu and his Derby side this morning.
I know Spurs were 2 up midweek but an away draw isn't that bad in Athens!
BTW...Spurs have played THREE away games this season
Results.. @ City 2-2, @ Arsenal 2-2, @ Olympiacos 2-2
Desmond is a fan!!
Plenty off boos for Rams players early on.
Spurs have not won an away game in the Prem since January vs Fulham
Spurs have now won an away game to a current Prem team since before Christmas!!
Spurs blew it in midweek against a side with a similar business model to Wolves
WOW ! Great anoraking, Dave. Didn't realize it was that long
Kane with a pop from a very long way out....had some players making the run down the right
It's called listening to TalkSport
Leeds fans will be pleased that Harry Wilson , the architect behind the Rams semi win last Spring is now at the Cherries. They're not the same side without him
They're a great source
Both teams playing a patient passing game at ER.
Useless free kick by Rose... doesn't beat the first man in the box
He's a professional! The ball is standing still!!
I am happy about that. Also, of course, Frankie Lamps is at Chelsea now and has taken a few players such as Mason Mount with him. This seems like a different side.
Can you believe Bournemouth are THIRD!!
Oooh... almost a chance from Leeds... more playing around at the back!
Of course Bamford blows his first chance
Pablo Hernandez with a cross cut out for a corner by Fatty after the Rams keeper was faffing about
Oh - we nearly profited from a goalkeeping error there - Pablo latching onto an errant cross and Patrick nearly in at the near post.
Vardy wins a Foxes corner
That is surprising, but will change after the rest of the matches are played this weekend. I saw what was a surprisingly good match yesterday
Oh - we've nearly got in again after some poor passing at the back by Derby. Another corner won.
Of course Phillipe Cocu believes in the religion of playing it out from the back - they all do!
The Cherries win yesterday was their first ever away win at Saints in their history. Also a rarity from Harry Wilson. A goal scored INSIDE the box
Oh - Harrison had a chance to chip one in to Patrick but his cross was overcooked.
Looks a lovely day in Blighty
Great noise from the home crowd at ER - they're enjoying their day out. But they want a goal - come on!
Great cross to the back post...they got in the way of each other
Oh - Harrison and Ali got in each other's way as they went for that Stu Dallas cross.
Playing from the back in Dutch is total football?
It does look gorgeous. Nice weekend here in WNY as well. We're hoping to get out to one of the state parks this afternoon.
The Fourth President wide of the mark for the Foxes. He's playing a footie match, not addressing Congress
Nice here this weekend too
I've heard heard that the weather in East Anglia is turning after tomorrow
Oh - Derby were nearly in there but Kiko did well to get off his line.
Nice through ball from U.S. international, Duane Holmes, for Jozefsun, but Casilla was alert and rushed out to gather
TalkSport says that Mr President has the most shots of any midfielder without scoring a goal.... and there's another
GOAL !! FOXES TAKE THE LEAD OFF A CORNER WITH A SCRAPPY GOAL, WITH COMICAL SPURS DEFENDING, NDIDI. VAR CHECKING FOR SOMETHING
GOAL....What a scramble after a weak effort by their keeper!
Surely offside... it is!
So bad from the keeper!
Derby haven't had a sniff yet - it's all Leeds pressure so far.
Goal disallowed. Still 0-0 at the KP> Sunshine relieved
Patrick appeals for a penalty - he'll get a corner. We really are doing well picking off these passes out of the back.
The corners have got to be better - we're winning plenty of them.
Players going nuts about a tackle...Kasper is running out quickly to compllain
A yellow for Sissoku..... I don't think it was a foul!
I just lost points in fantasy!
I think VAR should change that
Modern Day footballers are wimps
Bamford tackled for a Leeds corner while Cissy booked for a horrible challenge on the Fourth President
Another chance from Leeds
BURY THEM!!!!
Oh - Harrison had a point blank effort denied by Roos.
Free kick chance now for the Whites - come on!
OH!!! Superb close range block by Roos from Jack Harrison off a pass from Pablo Hernandez
YES!!
Leeds take the lead!
Bamford misses ANOTHER chance but the rebound is knocked it from a defender
YESSSS!!!!!!!
Patrick got to the free kick and directed back toward Dallas who's shot was deflected in. Own goal?
Keeper made another good save... don't you hate keepers have blinders against your team!
GOAL !!1 LEEDS TAKE THE LEAD . KAL PHILLIPS PLAYED A FREE KICK IN THE BOX, PLAYED BACK BY BAMFORDTO DALLAS. HIS SHOT WAS SUPERBLY SAVED BY ROOS THEN WENT IN OFF MAX LOWE FOR AN OG
Leeds are all over them
Bloke made the wrong pass there from the left
Congrats, Bob. Fully deserved. Keep it up Leeds. They do as Dallas wins another Leeds corner
Dallas tries a pop and Roos has to tip over. We're all over these mugs.
Roos tips over a curling shot from Dallas, TX. That's definitely long distance
Leeds really need to get another.
Thanks, guys - it's been fun to watch so far and now we've got our reward. Just keep up the pressure.
MOT!
Based on what Uws stated from TalkSport, the Fourth President more like the 46th when it come to shooting. BOOM BOOM!
Spurs today playing a lot like they did in Greece
Weren't Leeds two up in the playoff semi?
The crushed Derby in the league both games, right?
Wonder if Phillipe Cocu will still be in charge of the Rams when Roon joins. Is he keeping the manager's seat warm for Roon?
Great move by Leicester.... Vardy has a shot blocked
Yes they were, but Harry Wilson single handedly won it for the Rams. He's no longer with them and the Rams are not the same team
Another Leeds chance..
SPURS TAKE THE LEAD!!
KANE SCORES WHILE ON THE TURF!
Oh - Dallas was nearly in there and played the ball beyond their keeper Roos but it was cleared out.
OH!!! Cleared off the line by Richard Keogh from Dallas off a superb pass
Great goal... great thru ball, flick and finish
GOAL! HARRY KANE AND ABEL TO SCORE TO GIVE THE SPUDS THE LEAD
Against the run of play as it was in midweek in Greece
Kane with a shot... hit wide...he should lay down again and try!
Come on Leeds... get another or two!
Now it's Harrison spanking the hands of Roos - another corner coming.
Oh - Liam was nearly in there at the near post. Heads wide.
Superb long range save by Roos from Harrison then cleared for a corner
Leeds should have had another corner
I agree, UWS - I'd love to go in 2-0 up at the break.
What was that stat about touches in the Leeds box?
No touches?
Spurs last away win against a current Prem team
3-0 at Goodison two days before Christmas
Credit to Kane for scoring instead of going down in the box for what would have been a certain penalty. It was against the run of play and the move started from the back. The ball was passed to Lamela , who went on a run, passed to Number One Son. His through ball found Harry Kane, who was pushed in the box, but scored off balance with a sublime chip past Kasper.
The crowd giving us the "Ole" routine now - bit too early for that. One bad pass at the back and Derby could be back in this one. Come on!
I haven't seen any Rams touches in the Leeds box. It's been that dominant a performance. Would love to see Leeds several goals up
Yep - the commentator is tempting fate a bit by mentioning that stat. I appreciate the praise of our play but he needs to put a sock in it.
Nice near post save by Gazzaniga from Ayoze that was turned around for a corner
Oh - Patrick blows a big chance. Great first touch but he needs to bury those. He's suffering from lack of confidence in front of goal right now and needs a goal.
Bamford should have put Leeds two up. Shot over from close range
Ah....Shackleton has it in the net but Dallas was ruled offside.
Shacklelton with a goal disallowed for offside as he scored after Roos saved from Dallas.
Eddie Nketiah is ripping to get off the bench. With the team playing like this, he would get some chances.
Harry Kane and NOT Abel to score. Shot at Kasper as he "ghosted " into the box.
I was kicked off the internet for a bit
I didn't miss Leeds second.... score it now
A couple of Eddie's academy teammates played Thursday in the EL and played really well.
Don't know why he isn't starting... Bamford stinks
The Rams lost three players from the side that defeated Leeds. They lost Harry Wilson, Mason Mount, and Temouri. Those are three key losses.
Drury is stealing my factoid
Toby heads out for a Foxes corner
Oh - Bamford let fly but it was well wide.
Leicester have had some tough games so far this sesason
At Old Trafford
At Stamford Bridge
OH! A long range effort from Bamford is inches wide of the mark
Leicester with a corner...don't put it in the box!
Agreed. The Foxes doing well, considering their schedule. May be the best of the rest this season
Josefson picks up the first yellow of the match and we have a nice free kick chance now.
Jozefsoon booked for the Rams as there's a minute of stoppage time at ER
Great free kick... no touch...offside called anyway
Into an LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes at the KP
Oh - teasing free kick in from Kal but no one applied the final touch.
HT at ER
Great half... but only one up!
More of the same in the second please
Leeds one up at the half, but it should have been much more
The Spuds one up at the half. Both East Midlands teams one down at the half
Second half underway at ET
COME ON LEEDS
That was the factoid
Not touch inside the box for Derby
LONG may that continue
We're back on at Elland Road now - I was more than pleased by the first half performance but I want to see more goals in this second period.
Of at the King Power as well
No changes to either side at the interval.
Another chance spurned by Bamsuck
Bamsuck hit the box from inside the six.... bring on Supersub
START Supersub
Hit the post not box
Can't believe that Patrick didn't score there - he can't buy a goal these days, after a good scoring start to the season.
Patstink Bamsuck....that's his name
Spurs passing it around at the back... in the middle of the goal!!
Lose possession
Looks like Eddie is being prepared to come on - Patrick about to get the hook.
Derby get in the box...but no touch yet
This better not be like the Forest match here!
Patstink Bamsuck should be taken off sharpish because he's not sharp
The Kop End want to celebrate a goal!
Back from walkies with Sparky to see that I did NOT miss a goal
If Derby steal a goal about now, I'm going to be really arsed off. They would do it with a shot like that one from Waghorn.
Lamella with a chance... hit the target!
Based on the comments, doesn't look like I missed much
I agree Bob
Welcome back David
Costa coming on for Harrison
Take off Patstink Bamsuck!!
Like for like as Helder Costa is on for Jack Harrison/.
Great save by Spurs keeper from Vardy
Superb athletic, diving save by Gazzaniga from Ayoze
Helder Costa coming on for Jack Harrison now. Bielsa keeping the faith with Patrick for now. It would be really good to get him on the scoresheet.
Weak effort from you know who!
Kate says hi to you boys.
Sonaldo with a chance... hit wide!
Derby get a touch in the box... 59th minute...as JPDLC would say
The Rams with their first touch in the Leeds box and it was well off the mark . They can pass like that all day
Hi to Kate as well
Tony texted hello to you
Hello Kate. How have you been?
Hello , Tony . How are you?
Did anyone notice that I'm back from walkies?
First Rams change as Jamie Patterson is on for Bielik
In both matches, the Argie manager'steam is one up.
Sonaldo makes a couple of moves but fails to shoot or cross
How was your walkies, mate - nice day in Texas?
It was a good walkies, thank you for asking. A muggy, but bearable morning. Lots of sniffing from Sparky on the dewy lawns.
Lots of rain close(ish) to you?
That delivery from the Fourth President looked more like one from the 46th .
Holmes into the book now.
TWO NIL SPURS!!
No rain near us. Hot and sunny. The rain was near Houston , which is about 325 miles to the North
GOAL !!!! AURIER PUTS THE SPUDS TWO UP WITH A GREAT FINISH. VAR CHECKING FOR OFFSIDE
VAR checking...looks like he's on
I don't like the line...when is the ball actually struck?
Looked level based on the replay
They are going to call this off.... RIDICULOUS!!
It's disallowed for offside. Spurs hard done by
I'm looking forward to a visit to the Lone Star state in the near future. I'll be coming to Austin for a conference in November.
What is offside ?
When the passer's foot touches the ball?
When the passer's foot indents the ball?
When the passer's foot releases the ball?
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!
Patrick wins a penalty through persistence. Well deserved.
PENALTY!!!
Patstink Bamsuck wins the spot kick
Foxes change and like for like as ALbrighton is on for Harvey Barnes while a defensive SPurs change as Wanyama on for Cissy
HITS IT WIDE!!
RIDICULOUS!!!
Klich up to take it....and misses it!
Terrible pen.
Leicester ties it up
Spurs have been robbed
PENALTY LEEDS AS BAMFORD BROUGHT DOWN BY MATT CLARKE.
BLOODY HELL! A REALLY AWFUL PENALTY FROM KLICH SHOT WIDE
GOAL ! THE FOXES TIE IT UP
Could Spurs actually invited Desmond in again for the fourth game on the trot
Barry Douglas has come on to replace Pablo. Chris Martin, the former Norwich striker, has come on for Marriott.
Barry Douglas on for Pablo Hernandez
Patrick should have taken that penalty - he needs a cheap goal right around now.
The Foxes goal came off a really long possession where they twice own tackles deep in the Spurs half . The last one won by the 4th President. He passed to Harvey Barnes, who passed wide left to Vardy. He passed across the box for an easy far post tap in by Ricardo Perreira
The uniforms at ER make it look like Mad Magazine's Spy vs Spy
Spurs squander yet another lead.
I want Spurs to score the winner....they should have had two goals already
WOW! Nearly 35,000 in attendance at ER. They definitely belong in the Premiership
The two teams at ER were my pick for top two or at least top three
Nice Mad Magazine reference, mate.
Eddie on for Bamford. That should help the Leeds attack.
