Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Wolves have three draws from three and that’s fine, but a win here would prove there’s nothing to worry about in terms of Europa League hangovers and so forth. Everton began well but were very disappointing in their defeat at Aston Villa – I wonder if we’ll see more of Moise Kean and Alex Iwobi, who both livened things up there and starred in the League Cup win at Lincoln, today.
Good morning, Bob. Here to join you for the final two matches before the international break. How have you been?
The teams gathering in the tunnel at Goodison awaiting the classic Z Cars entrance:
Everton: Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne, Andre Gomes, Delph, Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Iwobi, Kean. Subs: Holgate, Calvert-Lewin, Tosun, Schneiderlin, Sidibe, Bernard, Stekelenburg.
Wolves: Rui Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Traore, Dendoncker, Neves, Saiss, Ruben Vinagre, Jimenez, Cutrone. Subs: Vallejo, Pedro Neto, Gibbs-White, Jota, Jonny, Ruddy, Joao Moutinho.
Referee: Anthony Taylor
As you mentioned Moise Kean and Alex Iwobi are starting today. Both teams battled for that final EL spot last season. Should be similar this season
Morning Boys
Celtic just doubled their lead in the 93rd minute of the Old Firm Derby at Ibrox
What's with the emergency sirens?
What are you guys doing over the Labor Day weekend
Of course, I am in depression mode!!
As I said yesterday, we have Jason and Lori up here from Charlotte until Wednesday. We are also having our old neighbors from Via Lino coming over for burgers, dogs and chicken.
Tom, Matt, Jay and Lori are playing golf right now so I don't have to be a host...but I do have to help Kathy out ... so I will be in and out
For the start of Z Cars
That's more like it with the Zed Cars theme
Good morning, Dave. Labor Day is just another day for Yours Truly. I understand your pain, but at this time next year you will be far more relaxed.
Don't like the commercials going on so close to kickoff. Poor by NBC
Thanks David... I can't wait
That score mentioned in the Old Firm Derby is now a final.
They've gotten worse every season
$$$$$$$$$
They're off from Goodison.
Morning, guys - Kate and I had a nice backyard cookout with some neighbors. It's meant to rain for the rest of the weekend, so we'll be doing some indoor projects. And I'm scheduled to join up with some buddies Monday evening for a board game night. Should be fun!
We are off at Goodison...hope we have a Good'n
Agreed, Dave. Hope they don't become another FOX
Smart planning Dahlgrens
Agree with you about the adverts, although I do appreciate the split screen.
We're away at Goodison!
Great to see both teams in their traditional colors. Who do you fancy in this one? I'm not sure.
Sounds like a lot of fun. Too hot to do any outdoor activities here unless you do them between 7 AM and 8 AM
Here we go again... playing out from the back!!
I just don't get it!!!
EVERY team does it... because it is the thing to do!
IT IS SO DANGEROUS
Me neither Bob
Tomorrow is an important footie day., which is the last day of the European transfer window. Prem clubs can still sell. The biggest names being mentioned are Eriksen and Ozil
Wolves have drawn every match, so I guess another draw. The Toffees have the slight edge because Wolves are recovering from a tough EL match played Thursday
GOAL! The Brazilian Richarlison strikes for Everton!
GOAL..... unbelievable
I JUST DON'T GET IT
GOAL !!! RICH ARLISON GIVES THE TOFFEES THE LEAD./
KiCK IT INTO ROW Q
Total calamity in the Wolves defense with Connor Coady and Rui Patricio not on the same wavelength. You could see that Coady wanted his keeper to come and claim it but the backpass caught the Portugeezer out. Richarlison benefited.
The goal came from a throw, but a shocking back pass from former Liverpool defender, Connor Coady came off Iwobi and bounced straight to Richy , who basted in from a few yards out
You have to admit this, UWS - the modern day play it out of the back approach certainly is creating more goal chances!
Wonder if Connor Coady will get stick from the locals for that error as he started his career with Liverpool. Probably will.
Just before the goal, I was thinking that the Toffees would have a good chance if Siggy, Iwobi, and Kean combine. Didn't expect so much charity from Wolves
1-1!!!
GOAL! That didn't take long. Traore did the hard work getting to the by-line and knocking it into the danger area. Sais snapped up the chance.
1-1!
I agree with you that is creating chances... how do the managers allow it?
It is just snobbiness!!
GOAL !!!!!ROAMN SIASS TIES IT UP FOR WOLVES AND ANOTHER COMEDY OF ERRORS . GREAT SKILL BY TRAORE, BUT DIGNE WAS BEATEN TOO EASILY TO THE BALL AND THE CLEARANCE FROM COLEMAN FROM HIS PASS DIDN'T CUT THE MUSTARD AS SAISS BLASTED IN FROM TWO YARDS OUT
Agreed. Defending with common sense is much better
Blimey! It's 2-1!
GOALS ARE FLYING IN!!
Iowa gives Everton their lead back
GOAL !!!! IWOBI HEADS IN A cross from Siggy to give the toffees a 2-1 lead.Nice header from a nice cross
Two of three Toffees I mentioned combined
STRUTH...almost DESMOND
This has been quite the appetizer for the big match. I've barely been able to sip my cuppa!
Wolves win a corner. Corner headed out and the ball fizzed in the box as Pickford does well to turn a round a shot from Cutrone
Pickford catches the next corner
Agreed. It's been an exciting start on Merseyside
Chances all over the place!!!
Wish United created these many chances
Coleman wins a corner off of Ruben Neves
Corner headed away and Wolves win a free kick
I have to go on walkies soon
Shadow doesn't care the goals are flying in...he wants to go sniff, pee and poop
I'm sure that the Gooner is wondering where that headed strike from Alex Iwobi came from!
Cutrone shoots well wide off along ball from the back
TMI on the walkies, mate!
Gooner is probably thinking about the late one, which is the last match before the break and the transfer deadline
Sparky already had walkies and brekkies.
When we were playing... back passes could be picked up
Keepers would punt the ball
Now... let's buy a keeper... #1 can he use his feet...#2 can he actually use his hands and save a shot
Traore pulled down by Digne so that Rich Arlison can get treatment. Will Digne get booked?
Agreed. That's pretty much the case with modern day keepers. Pickford the exception to the rule.
Richarlison has a problem now. May have to come off.
Free kick headed away and the Toffees counter.
He hasn't come back on. Would Theo come on for him?
Richie back on for the Toffees.
Andre Gomes pulls down Jimenez, gifting Wolves a set piece.
A Pre Saiss header is straight to Pickford. Free kick headed out then that return cross put in the box.
Jimenez receives a long ball from Ryan Bennett down the left ., Cuts inside Coleman and shoots straight at Pickford.
Poor clearance from Jerry Minor from the cross from Vinegar and a shot from Cutrone deflected for a Wolves corner
Another Wolves chance... blocked for a corner
I am upstairs getting ready... I am watching the match on the computer...probably behind
Rich Arlison heads out the corner> play stops as Digne has a bloody mouth
No walkies, Dave?
I am trying to hold out until half time
This goal had too many goals to leave!
Of course, there will no more goals
Not the most Pre Saiss challenge as Delph is fouled . Eventually, a cross from Siggy is cut out by Coady for a Toffees corner
No goals in the last fifteen minutes - I'm bored!
The header from the corner is headed by Jerry Minor straight to Pickford. He scored a header from a corner against Pickford in the World Cup
Sounds like a plan , Dave
Patience, is a virtue, Bob. There have been chances.
Bloody Mina.... made me leave FredTown much later!!!
Long Toffees throw leads to head tennis and then a corner
Sorry. Wolves throw and corner, but nothing came of it
I remember. I had to hold it in for an hour thanks to him.
You're right, mate - of course.
Yeah - and we missed the first couple of Peter Frampton tunes at ArtPark.
Ruben Vinegar booked for leaving a bad taste in Anthony Taylor's mouth
That's true mate. We were rushed that evening. Jerry Minor was a major nuisance.
Jim Beglin , like Bob, says he's bored for going so long without seeing a goal. BOO HOO!
Was a good trip home tho!
I am off for walkies....Shadow is too impatient
Have fun on walkies and loom forward to chatting with you during the second half.
Jimenez stupidly picks a booing for preventing Digne from taking a throw. No need to pick up those types of bookings
A Pair of stoppage time minutes
Enjoy your walkies, mate, but no details about it, please. I haven't had my brekkies yet.
The Toffees lead 21-1 at the end of an interesting half where all the goals were scored early on
Not halftime as a long Wolves free kick is cleared for a corner
Corner from Neves headed out and now halftime
Half-time - Well, it was an extraordinary start to the half with three goals in the space of ten minutes, but the players settled down then.
2-1 Toffees at the interval.
It's 2-1 not 21-1
Second half underway from Goodison
Moise Kean with a shot deflected for a Toffees corner
Everton get us underway leading 2-1 here in the second half.
21-1? That really would be a score-line!
Wllie Boli booked for obstructing Rich Arlison on a Toffees counter
Agreed, mate. We wouldn't be goal starved
Just a reminder that England vs Bulgaria on Plus with kickoff at noon on Saturday while England vs Kosovo is on the deuce with kickoff at 2:45 PM on Tuesday the 10th.
Definitely not!
Thanks for the programming note. I've got an appointment to take the car in for service on Friday and may have to pick it up sometime on Saturday. I'll try to plan it around that match.
Moise Kean does well to turn Connor Coady , but a last ditch tackle by Ryan Bennett saves the day
Cheers, mate. Hope all goes well with the car and look forward to the pleasure of your company
That's a pretty Pre Saiss Wolves substitution and an attacking one as Joao Moutinho comes on.
Thanks, mate!
Free kick from Siggy headed over by Moise Kean
The Toffees have Kean and Keane in the starting lineup. An interesting coincidence.
Delph with his requisite booking as he's caught out and fouls Jimenez from behind
Fab Delph picks up a yellow for a nasty hack on Jimenez. He didn't learn that at LUFC Academy.
I am back after long walkies... and I missed nowt
Another normal starter coming on for Wolves and also from Portugal as Jota on for Cutrone.
Welcome back. You really didn't miss much. More huffing and puffing than anything else
Welcome back, mate! How was the walkies?
Digne with a long range effort deflected for a corner after a free kick was headed away
Free kicks...are never in the right spot
These free kicks are always behind everyone or doesn't beat the first man
Stop trying to do fancy things with the ball and just KICK IT
It was nice... refreshing weather
Iwobi down for the Toffees. Doesn't look good for the Toffees.
Pepe starts for Arsenal
Ericksen starts for Spurs
Wish we had some of that. Will be more tolerable this week with rain in the forecast.
TWO TWO!!
GOAL! It's Desmond at Goodison now!
GOAL !!! DESMOND AT GOODISON AS A LONG THROW WAS HEADED ON TO JIMENEZ TO HEAD IN AND HE'S PICKED UP A KNOCK FOR HIS TROUBLES.
Jimenez has taken one in the face for his troubles and is down for treatment after having scored that one.
Long throw from Ryan Bennett was headed on by Willie Boli and bounced for Jimenez to head in and a clash of heads as Jimenez is still down
Jimenez looks dazed and confused.
Ten minutes for these teams to sort this one out.
GOAL! Richarlison has done it!
GOAL !!! RICH ARLISON HEADS IN A DEFLECTED CROSS FROM DIGNE AND HIS SECOND HEADED GOAL OF THE MATCH, GIVING THE TOFFEES 3-2 lead.
The defender did not go and attack the ball!
Terrific header from the big man - right in the corner. You'd have loved to have scored that goal, eh UWS?
Oh - Richarlison tried a bender for his hat-trick - saved!
OH! A shot from Rich Arlison headed for the upper 90 superbly turned by Rui Patricio.
Sure would have
Another decent effort from the Brazilian...well saved
Last roll of the dice for Santos - Pedro Neto, his latest Portuguese recruit - on for Neves.
The final roll of the dice from the Spiritly Saints and one Portugese for another as Neto is on for Ruben Neves
Now it's Mina denied by a great save from Rui Patricio.
A major save from the Minor.
Coleman obstructs Jota.
I hate all the Europa League influence crap
Playing Wed/Sat is the same as Thur/Sun
One loss and the announcers start talking about the EL effect. Hate the exaggerating.
We're on the same wavelength
United down to 8th... two points out of the relegation zone
A quintet of stoppage time minutes.
Everton would be up into fifth place on the strength of this result if they can hold out. Wolves would be perilously on the edge of the relegation zone.
Looks like United have a fairly easy CL group. Don't like the fact that they have lengthy trips to Serbia and Kazakhstan.
Only two teams haven't won a game yet this season
Wolves and Watford
It's a tight table early on in the season
Wish it was the CL!!!
Digne wins a Toffees corner.
Sorry. EL . We can only hope.
Wolves about to end their undefeated start to the season?
Neto booked for bringing down Rich Arlison.
Boli obstructs Rich Arlison and he's sent off for a second booking.
Boly is off for a slightly early bath. What a silly willy.
That's it as the Toffees defeat Wolves 3-2
Everton hold on to win
And now the big one
LOL, Bob.
That's it - Everton with a big win there. That will give them the illusion that they might just shoot for a European slot.
I like that Arsenal start all three top men
18 years ago today
"It's getting better and better and better"
I hate how some of these announcers for upcoming games mispronounce Arsenal
Line ups
Arsenal XI: Leno, Sokratis, Lacazette, Torreira, Aubameyang, Maitland-Niles, Pepe, Luiz, Guendouzi, Kolasinac, Xhaka
Subs: Martinez, Mkhitaryan, Ceballos, Ozil, Chambers, Nelson, Willock
Tottenham XI: Lloris, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Rose, Winks, Sissoko, Son, Lamela, Eriksen, Kane.
Substitutes:Gazzaniga, Lo Celso, Alli, Aurier, Moura, Skipp, Davies
What happened eighteen years ago today?
Rumors flying around that Eriksen may be signing with a new club by tomorrow.
This might be the perfect time for Arsenal to meet Spurs - they've been really underwhelming so far this season.
Probably so. It should be a typically competitive North London Derby
Davinson Sanchez at right back is an odd choice in a big game such as this. He has never played there, as far as I am aware, and has never struck me as someone who good do a job in such a position. Let’s all hope he proves me wrong, so that I can eat some humble pie at the end. Serge Aurier cannot be feeling good about himself.
Spurs players are in the tunnel waiting for the Arsenal players to show up. Here they come!
Should be a cracking match to follow up a great earlier match
And NBC on commercial... way to show the atmosphere !!
The annoying ads seconds before kickoff.
Germany 1 England 5
Wind in my Hair Driving my Car being sung as the Emery Board come out of the tunnel
That was a fantastic night for England.
They're off from the EM
Arlo taking credit for the pictures thru commercial break... how about staying at the ground
We are off
Spurs get us underway on what looks like a peach of a day in North London.
Totally agree, UWS. "Hope you enjoyed our live pictures?!"
Oh - Pepe taking advantage of a quick start from the Arsenal. Blasts over from Kolasic's feed.
Pepe with the an early shot
The Terrible Trio already talking too much....
TOO MUCH CHATTER
Aubama goes on a run down the left and lays it off for Pepe, who shoots wide from the D
Agree, UWS. Wish they would shut it,.
Le Sox has to finish his point...how dare the football get in the way of you yapping
Aubama making a run down the left makes him like Obama. Sound about right?
It's good to see Arsenal playing with three up front. I always got frustrated by Wenger's conservative approach with one up top.
Hard to see the action on the pitch due to the contrast of sun and shade. So much for modern stadiums.
Oh - Aubama with a teasing ball in. Just didn't reach Lacazette.
Arsenal well on top to start
Kolasinac with a run down the left and wins a corner off of Cissy
Arsenal definitely trying to take advantage of Spurs' make-shift full back Sanchez. Kolasinac drives down the wing and earns a corner.
Pepe with a blocked shot from the resulting corner.
corner headed away then a powerful shot from Pepe is blocked.
Nice block by Kane...not sure Lloris would have gotten there
GD throughout the division
City +11
Liverpool +9
Leicester +3
Man U +3
Palace +1
Everyone else 0 or negative
That's an interesting stat. Thought more would be positive.
