After looking at the picture I posted, I questioned it
How can the total matches played be an odd number!
Every season they play twice....someone has done some rotten math
Morning, UWS. I'm waking up to my usual bagel and tea brekkies and missing the hospitality at Casa Nocito already.
Looking forward to joining you for this crucial fixture later on.
As David's text said... Ipswich lose their first game of the season at lowly Accrington Stanley...who are they?
Rangers draw at Tynecastle and cannot overtake Celtic at the top
Morning Bob
I am sitting where you should be sitting!
I was watching the documentary on Rash , being interviewed by Gary Lineker. After that I washed dishes.
Good morning, Bob and Dave. Hard to believe United are just a point above the drop zone. Meanwhile, Liverpool have a perfect record, breaking all sorts of records. I know United are rebuilding, but they need to do better.
So the sides have been announced
Klopp announced the sides before they were announced
Salah out
Adrian in
DeGea in
Obiwan in
Martial on bench
Man Utd: De Gea, Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Young, McTominay, Tuanzebe, Fred, Pereira, Rashford, James
Subs: Mata, Martial, Rojo, Romero, Greenwood, Garner, Williams.
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Origi
Subs: Lovren, Milner, Keita, Gomez, Adrian, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana.
Games at Old Trafford
Klopp 4
Wins 0
Salah 4
Goals 0...that isn't going to change today
Agreed. I'm predicting a 0-3 win for Pool. It would be United's worst defeat at OT since losing 1-6 in the Manc Derby in 2012.
What does OGS stand for ?
Olly's Gone Soon!
Morning, chaps - I'm back for the big one. I have to say that the advantage of not having an early one on Sunday is that I get to have a lie in, a long shower, relax over my brekkies, watch my Sunday news shows, read the NYT.
But I am really looking forward to this one. It should be absorbing. Come on, you Red Devils!
Welcome back Bob
I am showered and shaved(I have to tutor today). I have eaten my English toasting bread and walked the dog. I am all ready to be disappointed ...again
Looking at recent United results, it's a decent defensive record, but they just can't score. If they set that right then results would drastically change. No excuses for that with the players have
Can someone inform me of whether Pogs is injured or whether Ole's just got the hump with him over his attitude? Is he a goner at OT?
Good morning, Bob. Had a similar brekkies, fed the pets walked the dogs then was mistaken for Van Dijk.
Rugby World Cup Updtate
Wales came from 10-19 down at half time to beat the French 20-19
South Africa easily beat the surprising hosts Japan 26-3
Next weekend are the Semi Finals
England vs New Zealand
Wales vs South Africa
According to FOTMOB, Pogs is out with an ankle injury and will be available in a few days. Sounds like that's a matter of interpretation.
Bagel, coffee, and an apple at GHQ Alexandria
I hope you were mistaken for VD after tripped over a leaf and kicked an acorn into your own net
Good Morning, Steve. Hope that helps.
Ta, Al-Prez.
I was mistaken for VD because when doing the house chores, I did a great job of sweeping!
BOOM BOOM!
Fred is starting...so wish he would have just ONE good game for United
Rojo is starting instead of Tuanzebe
No probs, Steve.
Bugger.... I was hoping it was for my reason
Couldn't believe that score...after I saw it was 1-1 going into ET
Sounds like OGS is opting for experience , picking the Red over the spicy Wasabi
DCU said good bye to Rooney in the most embarrassing fashion last night. The players I would keep for next season would have extra legroom in a Mini Cooper.
I'll miss Rooney next year. He was a complete professional and he'll remain in the hearts of DCU supporters.
Surprised to see De Gea starting after picking up that injury for Spain in Sweden. I guess OGS has no confidence in Romero
OUCH, Steve! Really sorry. It's that Toronto jinx. They really collapsed in ET. I guess don't watch any more matches taking place in Toronto.
I'll never forget when Arsenal faced Romero in Europe. He had his hair in pigtails and actually jumped out of the way of a close range shot on goal. When he shipped up at OT, I seriously thought it was another bloke. But it's him alright. De Gea sleeps well at night knowing that Sergio is the alternative.
Now he'll be Roon the Ram
Morning, Gooner - what was the send off for Roon?
Teams in the tunnel
NBC raking in the money
Just to irritate us all, Becky cues up some ads just as the players are gathering in the tunnel.
That's a good point even though Sergio did well a couple of years ago when United won the EL. Not the greatest, but he's come a long way since then
Honestly, I'm done with the MLS until the Cup Final unless the Glams make it into the final. I can't give a monkey's this year because Ibra's LA look invincible. And the idea of seeing him smugly destroy a defense to lift the trophy is more than I can bear.
It was that 5-1 ET loss in Toronto.,
Back for the walk out at least.
Here come the teams.... will NBC go for one more commercial break?
On a sadder note, Becky mentioned that players were racially abused yesterday in an FA Trophy match where it was Haringay Borough vs Yeovil. Haringay players were racially abused by their own fans, so they walked off the pitch and the match was abandoned. A police investigation is underway
The answer is YES
PATHETIC...that is not showing the atmosphere
Fred the Red or Fred the cat would no worse than Fred the player
Pereira will be the number 10 today
Fred and My Scottish Son
Our midfield...YIKES
Where's Scholes, Keane, Carrick, Ince....?
No idea. TUDU sports switched immediately to the Pachuca match in progress. The extra time in our match meant that there was no post match. Not that I would have watched it, because incredibly, the English language broadcast was behind the Flo-Sports paywall. DCU has announced that they won't renew Flo-Sports, so we're all hoping they'll go to ESPN+ next year. I haven't been able to watch 1 away game this year because of paywalls. In the MLS. As a season ticket holder. I'm very bitter about that.
Hope United can give Liverpool a match and win back some pride. That would be a step in the right direction.
There is no MLS Cup Final without Zlatan. ;-)
Finally back... I wish people would complain about it!!
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
United to get us underway, hoping to turn around OGS' season.
Sorry to read that , Steve. You deserve much better. MLS seems to have an agreement with ESPN Plus
30 seconds in.... United not behind!
They're off from OT.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Rash didn't know what to do with that cross
Early chance for Rash to stretch his legs. Comes to nothing. Poor ball in.
United need to main the start with tackles flying in, but not with Rash cheaply gifting Pool possession.
You must really be peeved with 'pool for their away black shorts. You have to play in those blah white ones.
Geez...United try to pass it around... lose it by their own corner flag...WHY?
Pool can wear whatever they want!
United CANNOT wear black shorts at home...PERIOD
United seem to have Pereira pressing up against the influential Fabinho.
United have nobody to blame but themselves for those wretched choices of away kits. No Pretty in salmon/Pink and no way to camoflage those away fatigues
Get the ball in the box
Too much passing around and not creating chances
Finally cross...pisspoor
Poor crossing from United, but at least they're making an effort to attack
Pereira is our number 10
No one in the box for James' cross. That wouldn't have happened at Elland Road!
Perreira and Fabinho are really familiar with each other from their matches with the Brazi national team
Man U shocked Man C with a 2-0 win in a Cup match in Women's Football
Decent start for United - they're at least pressing the issue with Liverpool.
LOL, Bob. Based on current form it probably would happen at ER, but he would be getting tons of service in away matches
There's only 1 player I feel an antipathy towards that I would cheer to see his career ended by a bad tackle, and that's Zlatan. And then, I want him caught up in a human trafficking conviction that sends him to a federal lock-up for 10 years or more. I hate him and can't abide the fellating coverage he gets here because his the biggest stink in the cesspit of the MLS.
Poor cross by Obiwan
The force was not with Obi Wan due to that poor cross
Liverpool 18 United 7 in 1990
Liverpool 18 United 20 in 2013
That a nice cross by Peirra... Rash wasn't ready for it and dart in front of defender
Free kick for United...at least Young isn't taking it
That was dangerous... just blocked by Robertson
I thought that injury at United was a career ender for Zlatan , but he somehow recovered to end up in MLS. I don't blame you, Steve.
Oh dear - Bobby Chompers will want that chance back. Total shank into the crowd.
Mane put through Bobby Chompers, who did his best impersonation of a United player with that sliced shot
Brilliant from Firmino.....long may that continue
Of course, the Three Plonkers just want to say how bad it was by United
Man City fans are Man United fans today
That shot from Bobby Chompers lacked " BITE."
Again.... to much yapping by the three in the booth...just commentate on the game
Absolutely. That's a collector's item , UWS
Is there an LOB glossary somewhere? Who's Obi-Wan?
Peirra with a shot
Had a pass to the right
He shot....Dixon babbling on
Lee wants Perreira fined a week's wages for that effort. Just about every United player has done to enough to be amassed multiple fines this season.
Obi Wan-Bissaka
Wijnaldum straight at De Gea with a tame long range effort.
Agreed. The game of the week is routinely ruined by Arlo and co. They should shut it.
Ta, Dave. May the force be with us.
I used to love NBC...now they just annoy me
Ah. I was trying to make a something rhyme with Kenobi and thought McTominay had to be too big a stretch.
Winajldum works some space for a shot but it's a tame effort into De Gea's arms.
Where's masking tape when you need it?
That wasn't a good cross...didn't beat first man
There really should be an LOB glossary.
Love NBC's commitment to the EPL, hate Arlo, Graham, and Lee.
McTominay is used for ptomaine poisoning puns.
Liverpool starting to turn the screw.
I don't think Liverpool have been that dangerous...the Three Do
I call him McTomain. Hope this helps to keep you in the loop.
Play Greenwood
Pool have had a few sustained possessions, but United have done well to nullify them
Make a better choice there Peirera
Agreed. I would definitely start Ron Greenwood.
Rojo did well to just contain Mane and not dive in
'Pool haven't adjusted to Saleh's absence. His runs at defenders haven't been replaced.
Tojo did well to hold up that attack through Mane.
Fred in Red with a poor challenge that was worse than anything that Fred the Red would attempt
As I stated earlier if United don't win then at least play well enough to win back some pride.
Oh - that was dispiriting from Rash. He's really gone off the boil.
Another poor pass by Rash. This time on a promising counter.
These guys give these teams too much credit... moving them out of position..the just put it wide and crossed it
United's final ball not there
Has there been a decent shot by either team yet in the first 20 minutes?
Wyn had a back pass to De Gea
In an interview, OGS said United are not in a position to rest Rash. He's wrong because Greenwood can play in his place.
First corner for United now.
United break...good strength by Rashford... United win corner
United break and Le Sox says Liverpool
Perreira has a shot deflect off of Matip for a United corner
Come on Harry open up your account
Pool gain possession off a poor punch and a sliced clearance
It would be a big occasion for Maguire to score a first goal for United.
United have not been under too much pressure... I think it has been Even Steven
Of course the The Three Numpties going gaga for Liverpool or City
Wasabi found the warm up too hot to handle.
I agree with you all about the three clowns in the booth today. Lee was a childhood Citeh fan. How would he be neutral?
COME ON...STOP PASSING AROUND BACK THERE!
What happens... it always ends just being Kadoomphed up field anyway
Oh - McTom bursts through and shoots straight at Alisson.
A promising United attack then McToamin with a long range effort straight to Allison
Decent effort by My Scottish Son
Rashford darts in the box.... fluffs his cross
Again...the three were too busy yapping when it happened
OH!!! Nice run by Rash, but he ran out of room and his cut back pass was easily gathered by Alison
Lee Dixon thinks that Rash has "looked sharp" today; is he watching this match?
I wonder if casual or new to the Prem viewers appreciate the pre-designed commentators narrative. I don't. It's jarring to hear them bang on about the same things despite the no-appearance of their stated points. In our case, Ozil doesn't even have to be in the named squad to be name-checked as a disappointment countless times in 90 minutes. Arlo in particular is a box-checker.
United do seem to be going forward more today and with pace
Terrible cross by Obiwan and then another cross cleared
absolutely, Steve. Spot on.
United don't have enough players in the box EVER for crosses
Lee Dixon is particularly bad as a commentator, He's got an award winning French winery too, so I don't know why he insists doing this so badly.
A draw today would prevent pool from setting an English top flight record for consecutive wins. Pool drew 0-0 at Goodison in March
Not a good pass by My Scottish Son... LOB translation
McTominay
Lee must love the attention and the money. Is he a bit of a narcissist?
I was talking to Bob this weekend... I miss the days of Motson and Davies and then Hill or Brooking just saying something every 15 minutes
Your Scottish son may have had a case of McTomain poisoning . He's actually a local lad of Scottish descent.
Definitely - I miss those days, too. Motty was my favorite.
Again...they are yapping on about how bad United are
They are....but really today!
Commentary was better back then. Now they're trying to copy the Americans and telemundo.
I finally agreed with one statement. Le Socks said the match is scrappy. That is true,
Motty was my favorite too.
Again.... do they have to constantly have a chatter
Liverpool break... Firmino has a shot saved
Weak effort
Oh - big chance for Bobby Firmino now. Tame effort from him that's collected by De Gea.
PHEW!! Pool should have taken the lead. Mane put through down the right and Bobby Chompers should have scored, but his tame effort was easily saved by De Gea.
Obiwan can't throw it to a red shirt!
Firmino with a header... saved by De Gea... offside anyway
We grew up in a golden age of commentary. Motty, Davies, Tony Gubba, even David Coleman is missed. But the real change is that constant chatter. In this game like many, they've already exhausted every point on their yellow pads, so it's time for STFU.
De Gea makes a great save from a header from Bobby Chompers off a cross from Hendo, but the offside flag was raised.
Oh - another good save by De Gea. A bit moot as Firmino was ruled offside. Without Salah, Firmino seems more like a traditional target man with Mane on the right and Winajldum on the left.
Just because Liverpool get a chance doesn't mean you have to blame United
YES!!!!!
RASHFORD!!!!!!
GOAL! Rash comes good finally!
Is VAR going to call it back for a foul
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!RASH SCORES A TAP IN AT THE FAR POST OFF A PASS FROM DANIEL JAMES , WHO WENT ON A RUN DOWN THE RIGHT
VAR can't call that back!
Great cross by James
i THINK var IS CHECKING FOR A FOUL..
There it is. The Rash finishes off a counter. Possible foul?
Lovely ball in from James there.
This is ridiculous
Ref saw it and didn't call it
GOAL!!!
Goal is given after the VAR check.
I hate this crap!!!!!
Klopp needs to shut up
The goal counts. It did look like a foul by Lindelof on Origi, but not complaining about the decision. Klopp incensed.
It could have been called but again it could not have been called
This is so stupid
Seem mistake made by VAR this match as was made several times yesterday
that decision is a fortunate one for the commentary team. They can chatter about that for a while. If that had been the other way around, the two Davids would want that.
Liverpool are just going to complain about everything now
Origi fouls Daniel James. Matching Pool for commitment
I actually wouldn't have
If it wasn't called I am ok with that
I HATE VAR
VAR is the commentator's gift that keeps on giving?
My comment at 12:09 verifies what Steve just stated. The same mistake was made by VAR about five times yesterday
The commentary is VAR's largest constituency for sure.
Surprised Lee is siding with United about the decision for the goal
Fred tries to clear... finally hits a red shirt but it's the back of a shirt!!!
Wonder if that's the real purpose of VAR.
Lee's a shill.
DAMN !!!MANE OH MANE! POOL TIES IT UP.
Oh dear - sorry chaps - Mane equalizes after some tenacious play.
VAR check again?
VAR to check?
Looks like it's off his arm.
Listen to Arlo. He's calling for a VAR before the MU defenders.
These guys can't say United playing well
They are playing spirited
Liverpool tie it up....United give it away
is that going to be called handball
Again, this is not the same as the last one
Handball
NO GOAL... Offside or Handball?
I think it will be disallowed for two reasons. It was Mane offside and guilty of hand ball. Still 1-0. PHEW!
The goal is chalked off for offside and Jurgen will need to double his blood pressure meds today.
Arlo talking crap again!!
Klopp needs to shut it . Lucky not to be sent off.
Correct decision after a check of the telly.
I was just about to comment that Liverpool were playing too many long balls when that incident happened.
That is different than the foul... the ref saw the tackle and though it wasn't
The handball or offside was not seen
BBC thinks it should be called back
Into one minute of stoppage time then. United will be happy to just get into the dressing room one goal up.
Perreira with a pass blocked for a United corner
