Manchester United vs Liverpool....enough said!

So, United have won twice as many Premier League matches as Liverpool... will that trend continue this morning at Old Trafford? I, for one, don't think it will happen. This United side is just not good enough and Liverpool, sadly, are that good.
I hope I am wrong

After looking at the picture I posted, I questioned it

How can the total matches played be an odd number!
Every season they play twice....someone has done some rotten math

Morning, UWS. I'm waking up to my usual bagel and tea brekkies and missing the hospitality at Casa Nocito already.

Looking forward to joining you for this crucial fixture later on.

As David's text said... Ipswich lose their first game of the season at lowly Accrington Stanley...who are they?

Good morning, Bob and Dave. Hard to believe United are just a point above the drop zone. Meanwhile, Liverpool have a perfect record, breaking all sorts of records. I know United are rebuilding, but they need to do better.

Games at Old Trafford
Klopp 4
Wins 0
Salah 4
Goals 0...that isn't going to change today

Agreed. I'm predicting a 0-3 win for Pool. It would be United's worst defeat at OT since losing 1-6 in the Manc Derby in 2012.

Morning, chaps - I'm back for the big one. I have to say that the advantage of not having an early one on Sunday is that I get to have a lie in, a long shower, relax over my brekkies, watch my Sunday news shows, read the NYT.

But I am really looking forward to this one. It should be absorbing. Come on, you Red Devils!

Looking at recent United results, it's a decent defensive record, but they just can't score. If they set that right then results would drastically change. No excuses for that with the players have

Can someone inform me of whether Pogs is injured or whether Ole's just got the hump with him over his attitude? Is he a goner at OT?

Blogger gooner71 said...

DCU said good bye to Rooney in the most embarrassing fashion last night. The players I would keep for next season would have extra legroom in a Mini Cooper.

I'll miss Rooney next year. He was a complete professional and he'll remain in the hearts of DCU supporters.

11:19 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Surprised to see De Gea starting after picking up that injury for Spain in Sweden. I guess OGS has no confidence in Romero

11:20 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OUCH, Steve! Really sorry. It's that Toronto jinx. They really collapsed in ET. I guess don't watch any more matches taking place in Toronto.

11:21 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I'll never forget when Arsenal faced Romero in Europe. He had his hair in pigtails and actually jumped out of the way of a close range shot on goal. When he shipped up at OT, I seriously thought it was another bloke. But it's him alright. De Gea sleeps well at night knowing that Sergio is the alternative.

11:22 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Now he'll be Roon the Ram

Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Just to irritate us all, Becky cues up some ads just as the players are gathering in the tunnel.

11:25 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That's a good point even though Sergio did well a couple of years ago when United won the EL. Not the greatest, but he's come a long way since then

11:25 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Honestly, I'm done with the MLS until the Cup Final unless the Glams make it into the final. I can't give a monkey's this year because Ibra's LA look invincible. And the idea of seeing him smugly destroy a defense to lift the trophy is more than I can bear.

11:25 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It was that 5-1 ET loss in Toronto.,

On a sadder note, Becky mentioned that players were racially abused yesterday in an FA Trophy match where it was Haringay Borough vs Yeovil. Haringay players were racially abused by their own fans, so they walked off the pitch and the match was abandoned. A police investigation is underway

Where's Scholes, Keane, Carrick, Ince....?

11:28 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

No idea. TUDU sports switched immediately to the Pachuca match in progress. The extra time in our match meant that there was no post match. Not that I would have watched it, because incredibly, the English language broadcast was behind the Flo-Sports paywall. DCU has announced that they won't renew Flo-Sports, so we're all hoping they'll go to ESPN+ next year. I haven't been able to watch 1 away game this year because of paywalls. In the MLS. As a season ticket holder. I'm very bitter about that.

United need to main the start with tackles flying in, but not with Rash cheaply gifting Pool possession.

11:37 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

There's only 1 player I feel an antipathy towards that I would cheer to see his career ended by a bad tackle, and that's Zlatan. And then, I want him caught up in a human trafficking conviction that sends him to a federal lock-up for 10 years or more. I hate him and can't abide the fellating coverage he gets here because his the biggest stink in the cesspit of the MLS.

11:56 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Lee Dixon thinks that Rash has "looked sharp" today; is he watching this match?

11:57 AM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I wonder if casual or new to the Prem viewers appreciate the pre-designed commentators narrative. I don't. It's jarring to hear them bang on about the same things despite the no-appearance of their stated points. In our case, Ozil doesn't even have to be in the named squad to be name-checked as a disappointment countless times in 90 minutes. Arlo in particular is a box-checker.

11:58 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United do seem to be going forward more today and with pace

Terrible cross by Obiwan and then another cross cleared

Blogger United We Stand said...

United don't have enough players in the box EVER for crosses

Liverpool break... Firmino has a shot saved

Weak effort

12:04 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - big chance for Bobby Firmino now. Tame effort from him that's collected by De Gea.

12:04 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

PHEW!! Pool should have taken the lead. Mane put through down the right and Bobby Chompers should have scored, but his tame effort was easily saved by De Gea.

12:04 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Obiwan can't throw it to a red shirt!

12:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Firmino with a header... saved by De Gea... offside anyway

12:05 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

We grew up in a golden age of commentary. Motty, Davies, Tony Gubba, even David Coleman is missed. But the real change is that constant chatter. In this game like many, they've already exhausted every point on their yellow pads, so it's time for STFU.

12:05 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

De Gea makes a great save from a header from Bobby Chompers off a cross from Hendo, but the offside flag was raised.

12:06 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - another good save by De Gea. A bit moot as Firmino was ruled offside. Without Salah, Firmino seems more like a traditional target man with Mane on the right and Winajldum on the left.

12:06 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Just because Liverpool get a chance doesn't mean you have to blame United

YES!!!!!

It could have been called but again it could not have been called

This is so stupid

12:09 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Seem mistake made by VAR this match as was made several times yesterday

12:09 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

that decision is a fortunate one for the commentary team. They can chatter about that for a while. If that had been the other way around, the two Davids would want that.

12:10 PM

Liverpool are just going to complain about everything now

12:10 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Origi fouls Daniel James. Matching Pool for commitment

12:11 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

The commentary is VAR's largest constituency for sure.

12:12 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Surprised Lee is siding with United about the decision for the goal

12:12 PM

Fred tries to clear... finally hits a red shirt but it's the back of a shirt!!!

I think it will be disallowed for two reasons. It was Mane offside and guilty of hand ball. Still 1-0. PHEW!

That is different than the foul... the ref saw the tackle and though it wasn't

The handball or offside was not seen

Into one minute of stoppage time then. United will be happy to just get into the dressing room one goal up.
