A Spot of the Good Stuff
I'm up with the chickens as usual, looking forward to a morning of the good stuff. First up today is the presumptive champions Liverpool hosting relegation strugglers Watford. At the 10am hour, we'll be treated to Chelsea v. Bournemouth on NBC Sports. I'll also have my eye on the LUFC text following our home match against Evil Cardiff. That will probably be all that I'm able to manage today, as Kate and I are planning a Christmas shopping trip later on, but there is a late one - Southampton v. West Ham - on NBC.
Join me for all the fun.

Morning, chaps! We're off to Anfield for the opener this morning. It's a first match in charge for Nigel Pearson. Watford will need a significant new-boss bounce to get anything on Merseyside, as Liverpool haven't lost at home in yonks.
It's Miami fan-fest morning on NBC Sports so they're monkeying with the format. The teams are out on the pitch:
Liverpool (4-2-3-1) Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Milner; Henderson, Wijnaldum; Shaqiri, Firmino, Mane; Salah.
Substitutes: Adrian, Robertson, Williams, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Origi.
Watford (4-2-3-1) Foster; Mariappa, Cathcart, Kabasele, Kiko Femenia; Doucoure, Capoue; Deulofeu, Hughes, Sarr; Deeney.
Substitutes: Gomes, Foulquier, Dawson, Chalobah, Quina, Gray, Success.
Referee Andre Marriner.
Good Morning, Bob. Thank you for getting us started. How have you been? We start with 1st vs last
I'm calling it. I don't see Nigel Pearson keeping the Hornets up. Too little, too late. He was hired because it's slim pickings this time of the year
They're off from Anfield
We're away at Anfield and Liverpool are on the attack straight away.
In the Championship , it's a West Midlands Derby as it's Brum vs the Baggies. Bob will be rooting for the Blues, I presume
Morning, MUR! I think we're on our own this morning, with UWS playing away today. How's your week been?
Oh - great ball in there but Deeney couldn't quite connect with it. Decent early chance for Watford.
It's been a crazy week. My father-in-law moved in with us Tuesday afternoon, so it's been a new routine. He has alzheimer's /dementia, so he's been keeping us pretty busy
Brum takes an early lad vs the Baggies. You should be pleased.
Lukas Jutkiewicz with the goal for the blues
I am jubilant about that one - come on, you Brummies!
Watford have had a good start here - Pearson will be pleased by their reaction to his instructions.
The Baggies tie it up at St. Andrews. Par for the course. Sorry, Bob
Hammers loanee, Grady Diangana, with the goal for the Baggies. On loan to West from West
Hornets clear off TAA, but it last touches the Hornets player for a Pool corner
Oh - Firmino just couldn't get to that free header from the corner.
That's alright; we'd take a second draw in a row for the Baggies.
The Hornets have been organized at the back, but it's been like a training session with Pool doing all the attacking
My father-in-law sleeps in a hospital bed in the living room , but doesn't watch the footie
Deulofeu wins one Hornets corner off of three names
Corner from Deulofeu cleared by the first man. No wonder why the Hornets are the lowest scorers in the Prem
The Hornets are really working hard to get to every second ball.
Blasted over by Hendo as Mane went on a run down the left then his cross was cut back by Bobby Chompers as Hendo's shot had too much bite and was more of a threat to the nosebleed section of the KOP
I wish you the best of luck with your father-in-law. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease. My maternal aunt was affected by it in her later years. Stave and I took care of the cost for her 24-hour care in her apartment in Alexandria.
Mane passes to Milner down the ;ft then his cross is volleyed over by Mane
Then Will Hughes talks himself into the book. That must drive managers crazy as there's no need for that , especially this early in the match
Cheers, Bob. Elizabeth and I appreciate that. I think I remembered meeting your aunt during the 2014 World Cup
Salah goes down in the box - nothing doing from the ref.
This is Pool's last Prem match until Boxing Day. They play at Villa Park in the League Cup Tuesday then off to the Middle East for the World Club Championship
Watford are working so hard without the ball, and will be really pleased with how the game has gone so far. It’s hard to see them sustaining this for 90 minutes, but it’s been an encouraging start for Nigel Pearson.
It finished Desmond between Banjo Boy's lads and the Tigers in a Friday Night match between two mid table teams
That's a really odd schedule for this time of year.
Agreed, Bob. Will they be able to sustain this throughout the remainder of the season.
Not quite sure where we'll be for the Boxing Day footer this year - possibly at Kate's dad's house. We'll be driving down to Virginia next Saturday, the 21st.
It's the consequence of winning the CL. It used to be a one off midweek match in Japan. Now a tournament in the Middle East. The CL winner has a bye till the semis
Doucoure was in a threatening position by Virgil did extremely well to knock out the square ball.
Pool's match at the Hammers next Saturday has been postponed due to this tournament and will be rescheduled
Nigel's first home match will be vs United week from tomorrow. Hope Nigel is stung on his home debut
Bobby Chompers wins a corner off of Kabesele.
Oh - big chance for Watford. Doucoure really should have worked Alisson.
Miss kick from Doucourre, then a miss hit from Deulofeu blocked for a Hornets corner off a run down the right. The Hornets will get few chances and cannot afford to squander those.
GOAl! Salah makes Watford pay for their profligacy!
GOAL !!! THE HORNETS PAY FOR MISSING THOSE CHANCES . POOL COUNTER OFF THE HORNETS CORNER AND SALAH SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH PAST BEN FOSTER
Quick break through Mane, who found his mate Salah in a promising position. The Egyptian turned his defender and curled a lovely effort with his "weaker" foot over Ben Foster.
1-0 Reds!
Talk about a smash and grab as well as a sucker punch. AN atrocious corner from Deulofeu was cl;eared by the first man, Wijnaldum. His clearance was poorly headed back by Will Hughes and Bobby Chomper's clearance found Mane , who put through Salah, who caught out the Hornets and finished well past the stranded Ben Foster
The Hornets haven't played badly for Pearson in this first half but Liverpool have the quality to kill you with one chance.
Does that deserve a " Salahry" increase?
Good lord - it's another sitter missed by a Watford man. Wow!
Definitely not one for Sarr; that was a schoolboy miss.
OH!! The Hornets squander another chance. Nice run down the left by Dopucorre and his pass found a wide open Sarr, who missed his kic in the six yard box. He found another player, who shot well over from ten yards out
Oh - Mane was nearly through there for a second.
Nigel is quickly discovering that the Hornets attack lacks bite. Nowhere near the bite of Bobby Chompers
I guess the only surprise is that it's only 1-0
A minute of stoppage time at Anfield
Nigel And Shakespeare discussing the next act
Liverpool one up at the half , but it would have been level, but for some schoolboy finishing by the Hornets
It's 1-1 at the half at St. Andrews. Bob should be content with that
The second half is underway from Anfield
A cross from TAA is headed out by Kabesele for a Pool corner
Back for the second half with the favorite breakfast of the LOB - a bagel and a cuppa. Lovely.
Great Pool defending as the Hornets countered off the Pool corner
Great brekkies , mate
Salah with a shot blocked by Kabesele for a Pool corner off a counter off Hornets corner
GOAL! Mane with a super header from a Robertson cross.
2-0!
GOAL !!!! MANE HEADS POOL INTO A TWO GOAL LEAD.HE MAY HAVE BEEN A FEW INCHES OFFSIDE . VAR TO CHECK
VAR check in this one to see if Mane was onside.
The replay shows the he was played onside by a Hornets defender
The goal is chalked off - UWS would not be pleased.
Goal disallowed. That's a surprises as Mane looked on in the replay. Nigel will not be complaining, but no Klopping from the Pool staff or fans
UWS will not be pleased about the Sarry finishing or being stung by the puns . He will be missing the banter
Bob will be pleased that Brum has taken a 2-1 lead at St. Andrews. Harlee Dean with the goal
The Baggies are still being held 1-1 by the Brummies.
Yet another atrocious free kick from Deulofeu. He's doing his level best to impersonate United's Perreira.
I spoke too soon - that's wonderful news!
No, Brum leads 2-1. You should be pleased, mate
James Milner booked for Pool and Wijnaldum down for Pool.
They showed the subs and Lallana would look the likely replacement
Kiko Fermenia turned for the goal and the same player got away with playing Mane onside. Nigel, A former defender will not be impressed even if those are his only errors.
Winaljdum is down in need of treatment now. He'll need to come off.
Sarr picks up an errant Pool pass and goes on a solo run. That Sarr looks like the Hornets should have had a penalty. A clumsy challenge from Van Dijck. Tat call from the ref must sting.
I am tremendously pleased. A win against Evil Cardiff might help us to start to put some distance between us and the rest o the pack.
Not Sarr why Klopp is complaining to the fourth official. Is it about the disallowed goal? That was a while ago
Poor form by taking your trip next Saturday. You will is Leeds's visit to the Cottage. They sure could use yours and Kate's hospitality . It's also Jacquelyn's birthday
Ben Foster has had to be sharp the last few minutes . Has rushed out several times to repel Pool attacks
Nigel with instructions for Andre Gray. Will he come on for Troy Deeney?
Troy Deeney playing his first prem match of the season and it shows. He's been barking out instructions, but otherwise looks a chubby passenger on the pitch
More sweeper keeping by Ben Foster as he rushes out of his box to head clear. He will need a broom and dust pan
The Ox about to come on for Pool. That should be Deeney's nickname
Pool with two thirds of the possession, but only a one goal lead. Desmond in terms of shots on target
The Ox being prepared to come probably one of the strikers to be withdrawn.
Sure enough - it's Shaquiri coming off.
The Ox on for Shaquiri , which will give Pool more width. Deeney could use a reduction in that department
It has been anything but a classic at Anfield, but that will,be the least of Nigel's concerns
If Brum win hen UWS will deserve credit for choosing the correct putters to use at St. Andrews.
Agreed - UWS should get some credit, even if he's not around.
No - it's hasn't been a classic. Watford deserve a lot of credit for digging in deep. They could easily have been rolled over if Quique had still been in charge.
Bobby Chompers with a shot deflected straight to Ben Foster that took some bite out of that shot . Nice run and pass from Andy Robertson
Andre Gray on for Troy Deeney that will take away some width from the Hornets. I'm talking about from the waist, mate
The Hornets counter off a Pool corner, but great last ditch tackle by Joe Gomez Addams. The Hornets more like Uncle Fester on that attack
The Baggies tie it up at St. Andrews with a goal from Charlie Austin. Now Desmond. Sorry, Bob
Liverpool still pushing for that killer second goal.
That's alright, mate. A draw is still a good result for us.
Oh - off the post from the corner!
Can Liverpool hang on for a clear sheet - they haven't had many.
Watford piling the pressure on - this is by no means a convincing performance by the Reds.
A late substitution to irritate UWS if he's watching somewhere. Divock Origi coming on for Bobby Chompers.
Back from helping Elizabeth with diaper duty. Some Hornets finishing that Saar matched the diaper.
GOAL! Sarah with a second - but will it stand?
GOAL !!!SALAH WITH HIS AND POOL'S SECOND TO SEAL THE POINTS. POOL TWO UP
You're a good man, mate.
Into stoppage time
The goal stands this time and Liverpool are cruising to another big win.
Goal allowed after a VAR check. Bal from Allison to TAA, to the Ox to MAne to Origi, whose shot went in off of Salah
Cheers, Bob. I'm here to help
Salah seems to be back to his best, knocking in goals for fun..
BUGGER! Charlie Austin scored his second for the Baggies to give them a late 2-3 lead at St. Andrews. Sorry, Bob
The match at St. Andrews making Brum look more like the Andrews sisters
That's it - Liverpool are now 11 points up after that win.
It's over and top defeats bottom. Pool defeats the Hornets 2-0
That's a real shame. But we always knew that we needed a win today. Come on, you Whites!
In to stoppage time at St. Andrews with the Baggies leading 2-3
Off for walkies with Sparky before the 10 AM matches
Back for the 10 o'clockers. Here's the starting line-up for the big one:
Kiko, Ayling, Ben White, Berardi, Stu Dallas, Kal, Klich, Harrison, Helder, Pablo, Patrick.
That's the side!
Back from walkies with Sparky. Teams coming out on to the pitch at SB. Waiting for soccer Saturday to start
They're off from SB and still waiting for Soccer Saturday
All set to go at the Bridge and across the nation.
It finished 2-3 to the Baggies at St. Andrews. Leeds will need to defeat Cardiff today
How will that work for Leeds's visit to the Cottage next weekend if you and Kate are on the road
Bob will be pleased that Blackburn have taken the lead at Ashton Gate . That's not idle gossip.
Blackburn are a goal up early doors. Our old boy Bradley Johnson with the goal.
Bob's old mate, Bradley Johnson, with that goal for Blackburn.
Bristol Rovers takes a surprise lead at PR. The Tangerines take the lead at the SOL
Early chance for the Leeds. Patrick finds Pablo on the edge of the box. Pablo scuffs his shot.

I think I've got them sorted.
A Cherries challenge that does not receive top Billing as Willian was tripped just outside the box
Glad for you, mate. Great to enjoy the pleasure of your company
Barnsley takes a 2-1 lead vs QPR
Connor Chaplin leading the service at Oakwell with both Barnsley goals. I guess Barnsley looking for help from the clergy
Swansea have a penalty and Andre Ayew scores it - 1-0 up over Boro.
The Bees take the lead vs the Cottagers in a West London Derby between 7th and 3rd.

Black Cats tie it up vs the Tangerines
A couple of chances now for Cardiff. Knock that out.
Jordan Rhodes with a hat-trick as Not a Big Club are three up at the City ground
Not a Big Club now 0-3 up - Jordan Rhodes with a first half hat-trick!
Vardy ties it up for the Foxes vs the Canaries
Oh - Helder feeds Pablo and he produces a great save out of Etheridge.
The Brodge substitutes Ihenacho for poor sportsmanship during a Canaries injury,. That sends a message to the other players. Great disciplining from the Brodge
That Vardy goal is changed to a Tim Krul OG , which is cruel on the Canaries and Vardy
