Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The early one in the Championship this morning is Hull (14th) v. Brentford (5th). Not surprisingly, I'm hoping for a Tiger win there.
All a bit scrappy during the opening exchanges.
Good morning, Bob . I just woke up and am here to join you for the early match.
The Tigers lost their best player, Jarred Bowen to the Hammers, so it will be interesting t see how they fare vs the Bees, who play at the Foxes on Tuesday
Morning, MUR - how was your week?
You will be pleased to note that Leeds vs Wigan is on Plus
A close range Chelsea effort was Mounted over, despite being offside
It was a fairly good week. Thank you for asking. How was your week?
Chelsea wearing their odd away kit with all black and orange socks.
Really blissful - this semester has been the easiest one I've had yet since taking over as chair. And it's my last one in the office. Only 14 more weeks of the semester and then I'll be able to slip back into a regular faculty role albeit with the same salary.
It looks like it's been all Chelsea early doors. The Foxes have been declining in recent weeks
Chelsea have enjoyed 60 percent of the possession so far. Leicester are struggling to get into this match. The visitors are looking much more dangerous.
I'm delighted for you. After this semester you should be on Summer vacation then the starting next year there should be fewer pressures
Great chance for Chelsea. Great cross from Reese James and inches in front of Tammy Abraham or else Chelsea would have taken the lead
As expected the Bees have taken the lead at the K.C.
Tammy Abraham takes a tumble in the box, giving Lee Mason an early decision to make. He's going to rely on his mate VAR.
VAR decides it not a penalty and we play on.
VAR checking to see if Tammy Abraham was fouled for a Chelsea penalty. Nothing doing . Hew went down far too easily
I was worried about that. Brentford now up to fourth, five points behind us in first.
Yesterday it finished Cardiff 1 the Reading Railroad 1. These will meet again in the Welsh Capital on Tuesday in a Cup replay
Reese James goes through his man and escapes a yellow but sets up the first chance for Leicester to swing in a free kick.
Also, the Rams thrashed the Potters 4-0. Roon with a goal and an assist, was named MOTM. The Rams up to 11th and just a few points outside the playoffs
Oh - Jamie Vardy was in on Willy Cabs there but the big Chelski stopper stood up well to him.
OH!!!Vardy rode his way through the Chelsea defense , but a close range block meant that he wasn't given a Cab ride
I'm not worried about Derby quite yet. We just need to keep winning. Another three points today against hapless Wigan and we should put some distance between us and the traveling pack again.
Willy Cabs starting for Chelsea. Winder why the Chelsea Kepa is "riding " it out on the bench. He's looked top be in decent form
Big shift in momentum towards Leicester in the past 5-10 minutes.
The Bees two up at the KC
Someone has invited a drum corps along to the match today. Fairly insistent beating going on in the background.
Despite winning the Bees are in 4th, a point behind Forest, who play at St. Andrews at ten
Ah well - that looks like a hopeless cause then.
Jonny Evans not Jonny on the spot as he fouls Pedro just outside the box
A half hour in here and Chelsea have a decent free kick chance now. Mason Mount keen to take this one.
Just a reminder that you will want a favor from Brum vs Forest
Into the wall from the England youngster.
Kasper tips over a shot from Pedro
A Chelsea corner mounted in was easily headed away
Yes, indeed we do. And from Hudders against Fulham and from Luton against WBA.
Leeds will need to defeat Wigan as the Baggies should defeat Luton at the Hawthorns
Brentford also have the best GD in the league - +23. We're on +20.
Great run and pass from Chilly then Harvey Barnes leans back and has a shot from the edge of the box land in Row H
Fortunately, the Leeds v. Wigan is being shown on ESPN+, so I'll have a chance to enjoy it on the big screen.
You will be pleased that the Tigers have taken a bite out of the Bees lead. Now 1-2
Game on, eh?
I will definitely watch that along with Soccer Saturday and Pool vs the Saints.
Sounds like a cracker at the K.C.
Foxes corner headed away and Chilly not too far off target with that effort
Talking about the K.C., the Chiefs will be playing in their first Super Bowl in 50 years tomorrow.
The U.S. plays Costa Rica in a friendly this afternoon. I guess the U.S. would play an all MLS lineup
Yeah - we've got the usual Super Bowl invite from the neighbors. I usually enjoy the commercials and the half-time show and little else.
It's 3rd vd 4th in the Prem as it will be in L1 as the Tractor will host Posh in East Anglian Derby.
That's odd timing for a US friendly. Why not wait for an international break?
We usually do the same at our house. Plenty of snacks for the occasion.
That's a good question. I think they do that every year as part of their Winter Camp to test out young players. Just a guess
Mount had a go on the turn by Jonny Evans put his body in the way.
Yeah - the snacks are a highlight. The football - not so much.
If you watch the match it's on ESPN News with kickoff at 3:55 PM your time.
That sounds about right, mate
Ricardo mounts down a Chelsea player on the break after a Foxes shot was blocked
An LOB blogging duet of stoppage time minutes
Tammy Abraham slices an effort high and wide
Good - time for a second cuppa. I'm dragging a bit this morning.
Late corner for the Foxes and Choudhry gets his head to it. Wide. And there's the half-time whistle.
0-0.
Vardy goes on a solo run and his cross is headed out by Kante for a Foxes corner. The corner from Chilly is headed just wide by Choudry and it's 0-0 at the half
It's still Tigers 1 Bees 2
The second half is underway from the K.P.
While this match is being played at the K.P. , there is a match being played at the K.C.
GOAL !!! CHELSEA SCORES A MINUTE INTO THE SECOND HALF
GOAL! Rudiger breaks the deadlock but NBC appears to only have only one camera angle to show us. That's odd.
That's better - the commentator apologizing for the technical difficulties.
The Foxes win a free and the Fourth President shoots straight into the wall. H should be impeached for that
It was a really early goal. Chelsea won a throw on their first attack of the half. Off the throw they won a corner and the corner that was mounted in was headed in at the far post by Rudiger.
Just a reminder that Dave is at his last ever Math Counts, so he will not be able to "count" the number of missed updates today
I'm back with the official brekkies of the LOB - bagel and cuppa.
It must be a poignant moment for our UWS as his math teaching career winds down.
GOAL !!! THE FOXES TIE IT UP
GOAL! The Foxes are level within minutes! Harvey Barnes on the scoresheet again.
It was an excellent team as the Foxes built form the back. They won the ball in their own box then the Fourth President played Harvey Barnes down the left. He cut inside and scored with a deflected effort from the corner of the box
NBC still haven't got all of the tech problems ironed out.
Agreed, Bob. Wonder what UWS will be thinking at the end of the day
I wonder if NBC is to blame or is it the feed received from SKY?
A semi poignant moment for Yours Truly as I received my last ever W2 earlier this week as well as my first ever 1099 R. UWS will be able to say that next year
Still 1-2 at the K.C.
Ah - that is a milestone. Wow!
Just a reminder that the Prem teams will have a weekend off. Half them off next weekend and half off in a fortnight
Cheers, Bob.
The Fourth President brings down Reese James and is booked for that.
The free kick is mounted well over.
The next two Saturdays there will be an early match and a late match, but no 10 AM matches. Sunday will follow the normal schedule
GOAL !!! THE FOXES COME FROM BEHIND TO TAKE A 2-1 LEAD. LAMPS IS FEELING RATHER CHILLY ABOUT IT. WHAT A GREAT FINISH
GOAL! Chilly knocks home Leicester's second goal.
The goal came off a Foxes throw. A cross from Chilly was too high , but chased down by Ricardo as Willy Cabs had gone for a ride out of position. Ricardo passed back to Tielemans and his pass was put away at the far post by Chilly. Will Cabs didn't ride back into the proper position in time, but even if he did he probably would not have saved the shot due to the excellent placement
Meanwhile the Bees score two quick goals at the K.C. and now lead 1-4 at the Tigers
Oh - great hit from Thielemans. Parried away by Willy Cabs.
Will Cabs does well to drive away a long range effort from Tielemans
GOAL! Rudiger with a towering header to usher in Desmond!
GOAL !!! NOW DESMOND AT THE K.P.AS RUDIGER HEADS IN A FREE KICK FOR HIS SECOND OF THE MATCH. BOTH HIS GOALS WERE HEADERS OFF FREE KICKS
Strange as this may sound, Rudiger is on a hat-trick
Lamps about to make a double substitution as he senses victory
There's the changes. Pedro for Willian and Kovacic for Jorginho in two like for like midfield switches. Lamps looking for fresh legs for the final quarter of an hour
I wouldn't put it past him. If Leicester keep giving away free kicks, he'll be in the hunt.
Kovacic booked for a foul on Ayoze just outside the Chelsea box minutes after coming on
Th free kick from the Fourth President is deflected out for a corner.
Oh - free header for Evans - put it wide!
Jonny Not on the Spot as Jonny Evans has a free header and heads wide from the corner
The Bees still lead 1-4 at the K.C.
The Brodge about to make a substitution as he is about to implement his victory plan
OH!! Harvey Barnes should have given the Foxes the lead. He shot wide with just Willy Cabs to beat
Ihenacho for Vardy and Dennis Praet for for compatriot, Tielemans in two like for like switches
Barkley comes on for Tammy.
The final roll of the dice from, Lamps and Lamps may seem content with a draw as Ross Barkley is on for Tammy Abraham
Hudson-Odoi down with a head injury
Less than five minutes to break the deadlock now.
Kante wins a corner off of Dennis Praet after sloppy Foxes defending
The Bees now lead 1-5 at the K.C. Algerian , Said Benherama with an hat-trick for the Bees.
Well, Hull have done us no favors, that's for sure.
A quintet of stoppage time minutes
It didn't help that their best player was signed by the Hammers yesterday. They may struggle the rest of the season
Half way through the stoppage time.
It sounds like it.
Leicester appealing for a penalty as Rudiger handles it. Seemed to be unintentional.
Harvey Barnes goes on a long solo run hen it appears that his pass was handled in the box by Rudiger. VAR checking. Nothing doing
It's over at the K.C. as the Bees sting the Tigers 1-5.
That's it - honors even between the 2nd and 3rd sides in the Prem.
Now over at the K.P. as a thrilling second half finishes Desmond
Sorry, make that 3rd and 4th behind Liverpool and City.
Time to take Sparky walkies
As it will be in L1 in an East Anglian Derby
I'm back for the big one - with the ESPN+ feed up and running. They're cranking the Kaiser Chiefs as usual.
The Leeds starting XI for today:
Casilla, Ayling, White, Cooper, Alioski, Dallas, Klich, Hernandez, Harrison, Costa, Bamford. Subs: Meslier, Casey, Berardi, Shackleton, Poveda, Stevens, Roberts.
Still no room in the starting XI for the new boys. Kevin-Jean Augustin is in the stands while Ian Poveda is on the bench.
Let's go boys!!!!
Wigan get us underway at Elland Road. MOT!
Poor corner has gone behind for a goal kick. Lovely. Now lets' build it.
Wigan boss is in trouble with the ref already. Send him off!
We haven't got started yet - come on!
That's better - a great ball down the left and Helder jinks inside to shoot on goal. Marshall beats it away. Free kick now.
Oh - the free kick went all the way through to Patrick but he couldn't get his body right to knock it home.
Oh - off the post from Harrison after a great run. We're in full stride now.
Back from walkies and feeding the pets as a Leeds shot comes off the post
Got Pools vs Saints on the telly, Soccer Saturday on the computer and the match on Plus on the phone
Paul Cook having another whinge at the ref now - he needs a booking.
The Hornets take the lead vs the Toffees.
Corner to Wigan now - mark 'em up, boys!
Good news for the Tractor Boys as Richard Burton takes the lead at Rotherham. Not so good as Rotherham ties it up immediately
Straight out for a goal kick once again. Still - I don't like these corners that Luke Ayling is gifting them.
That should move the Hornets out of the drop zone and I believe replaced by the Hammers in the drop zone
Oh - Helder nearly onto that through ball from Klich.
Bobby Reid gives the Cottagers the lead vs the Terriers , which is not a good Reid for Bob
Banjo Boy's lads in the lead vs Barnsley
The Tangerines take the lead at Oxford
Tranny may still reeling from that thrashing vs United as they trail early at Bolton in a battle of teams in the L1 drop zone
Our old mate Tom Pierce at the back for Wigan today.
Harrison wins a free kick now out wide left. This one needs to fly in!
The Baggies take the lead vs Luton thanks to an OG. Not good news for Bob
Nope - the ref has given it the other way.
Argyle Sweater smoke their way to the lead vs Newport
Not good, but predictable.
The Cottagers now two up vs the Terriers. So much for help in that match.
Bristol City take the lead at Loftus Road. In a weird turn of events , QPR top scorer,,Nahki Wells was on loan from Burnley now on loan to Bristol City
We just need to concentrate on winning this match.
Corner now for us - come on!
Wasted corner there - short effort back to Helder who shanked it straight out.
Oxford United ties it up vs the Tangerines
Salah with a shot deflected for a corner
Oh - a poor clearance from the keeper allows Patrick to run on to it. Fired it over the bar.
OH! Blasted over by Bamford from close range , but he was well marked and it was a difficult angle
A correction. The Tangerines still lead at Oxford
Morsey tried one from distance and Kiko could only parry it away before Coop clears it.
Sorry . It's 1-1 at Oxford
Good counter there leads to Pablo winning a corner.
Training pitch exercise there with the corner straight to Ali on the volley. Difficult skill.
A cross from Hernandez is headed over for a Leeds corner
Forest takes the lead at St. Andrews. Leeds needs to win
Swindon takes the lead vs Exeter in a L2 promotion six pointer
Oh - Patrick was played in there well and struck one at Marshall's near post. Good effort!
Bristol Rovers takes the lead vs Coventry
We're playing well and the goals should come before long.
A decent save by Scottish international keeper, David Marshall.
Poor corner to the near post and Ben White. We really need to use these corners better.
UWs will be pleased that Pompey has taken the lead vs the Black Cats and Pompey replaces the Black Cats in the playoff zone
The scores flashed on Soccer Saturday are a dozen minutes behind. Why hasn't that been fixed?
Oh - Patrick was teed up beautifully there but completely miss kicked it. Then Helder bent one over. But great team play in the build up once again.
OH! Leeds shot from the edge of the box curled just over.
Leeds dominating, but they need to turn that into goals
The Hammers take the lead vs the Seagulls in a relegation six pointer.
Play stopped for a head injury now.
Preston takes the lead vs the Swans.
Thirty minutes in and we really should be 2-0 up.
Posh takes the lead at PR in the big East Anglian promotion six pointer in L1
St. Johnny on top vs Hearts in an SPL relegation six pointer
Cottagers three up vs the Terriers
Oh - Patrick played a lovely cross over but somehow Harrison couldn't quite knock it home. Another chance goes begging.
OH!!! Jack Harrison should have given Leeds the lead , but miss controlled a few yards in front of goal
As it stands, we're level on points with the Baggies but a goal better on GD.
The Swans tie it up at Deepdale.
Morsy now down needing some treatment.
Forest just two points behind the top two
Top Billing for the Cherries as Phil Billing gives the Cherries the lead vs Villa in that key relegation six pointer
