Manchester Derby Sunday!
Morning, chaps! I'm getting a later than usual start to the morning due to the Spring Forward nonsense. I'm groggy but a cuppa will sort that out soon. Got to shake it off as we've got important business to attend to - Manchester Derby business.
Before that we've got the undercard match between Chelski and Everton. Join me for all of it!

Morning Boys
David is showered
Shadow is walked
I am all ready for the Footer Double Header
Off we go
It's debut day for 18 year-old Billy Gilmour, who honestly looks about 12. Off we go!
NBC having commercials as their in the tunnel AND when then arrive on the pitch
Pathetic
I am in the Salmon? corner this morning
ANYTHING BUT BLUE ALL DAY LONG
Morning, UWS - wow, you're a better man than I am. I'm barely out of bed. Hate Spring Forward.
That's spirit, mate. Come on, you Salmons!
Went to bed late too!
Don't know what is up with me!!
I do like the games on a bit later...especially on weekdays....kickoffs are after I finish school
Good Morning, Bob and Dave. Here to join you for the Sunday doubleheader
The time change hasn't really affected me. I fell asleep early, so I woke up about an hour earlier than I expected to
COME ON YOU SALMONS!
oooh....Mount with a nice hit and a great save by Pick
OH! Great reflex save by Pickford off a run and cross from Willian
Nice shot Mounted to Pickford.
Oh - great save by Pickers!
He makes some great saves but then has stinkers!
Thankfully so far for England he has been good
Morning, MUR - how are you doing this morning?
Doing well, thank you for asking. How about you?
Chelsea had a chance there because modern day passing around the back....what a rubbish pass by Mount
Olly wins a tackle in midfield then sends Pedro free down the left , but his pass into the box was cut out
Chelsea Mount a free kick headed on by Rudiger to Pickford
Kate doesn't like the look of Everton's kit. She think it's harsh.
That Toffees away jersey looks more like grapefruit juice than anything else
Everton have not started as well as they did against Arsenal and United
Chelsea have really been struggling at home... I was hoping that was going to continue
Now that we have a larger screen TV Elizabeth can see everything and she doesn't like it either.
Chelsea defeated Everton's local rivals in the Cup. Everyone was making a big deal about it, but Pool were playing the reserves
GOAL! Mason Mount fires home Chelski's opener!
Bugger...one nil Chelsea
GOAL !!!CHELSEA TAKES THE LEAD
Nice turn and shot from the young England man.
1-0 Blues.
two weeks in a row Pickford has been beaten at the near post
Come on, Everton - get it back!
Rangers beat Ross County this morning 1-0 to close the gap to 13 points
They do however have a game in hand and a head to head with Celtic
Could be down to seven
Is it over?
The goal came off a long Chelsea possession and culminated in a Mounted one two then a mounted shot that beat Pickford at the near post
I know - Pickers isn't in great form going into the Euros.
That's a huge gap to make up with nine matches remaining. It's possible, but I think Celtic needs just five more wins to clinch another SPL title
Pickers is put to the test again by Willian.
I think Dean Henderson is making a case to be the starting England keeper. He's on loan to the Evil Blades from United. Should United keep him next season and possibly have him replace De Gea in the starting lineup?
That was a decent save by Pickford
As far as I know the three best England keepers on current form are Dean Henderson, Nick Pope , and Pickford with Aaron Ramsdale on standby. Perhaps Alex McCarthy might be a better alternate.
GOAL! Pedro makes it 2-0! Too easy.
Gordon Bennett
Two nil Chelsea
Pedro with the finish
GOAL !!!CHELSEA GOES TWO UP
I thought this was going to be a close game
I guess... next goal is crucial!
Hard to blame Pickford for that last goal because got too easily behind the flat back four. A long Toffees clearance found Azpi, who passed to Billy Gilmour to Olly , who passed to Barkley, and his through ball found Pedro for an easy finish
At this rate, he will be called Pickers because he's picking the ball out of the back of the net too often
OH!!! How did Calvert-Lewin miss that? He''s been putting those away all season. He shot wide with just the Chelsea Kepa to beat. It started when Zouma was too easily caught in possession in his own half
Haven't won in 24 years at the Bridge!!
Yikes!
Rideout....scored the winner
When else did that statement hold true?
The Rams vs Blackburn kicks off at 11 . A Blackburn win moves them up 6th ahead of local rivals, Preston, on goal difference
WOW ! That was either Hod's last year in charge Or Gullit's first year in charge. Not sure when else that was true
The comment Rideout scores the winner
I'm thinking of the '95 Cup Final. Not a good memory
94 for was the Hoddle years. He brought up Swindon and buggered off to Chelsea... did the double over United that year...but we hammered them 4-0 in the Cup Final
You are correct David
Bloody Rideout....bloody Blackburn...and West Ham!
That should have been the second of three straight DOUBLES
Tom Davies getting an earful from Ancelotti on his return to the Bridge far a miserable return
Pickers makes a meal out of collecting the free kick...has a chance to break quick....goes sideways and Everton go no where trying to play it out from the back
I think Bob prefers playing out from the back...David?
Also bloody Heavy Nevie , who had his one brilliant match of his heavy years and bloody Miklosko, who never had a repeat performance after the match vs United
This result will probably drop United SIX points behind Chelsea....we have gotten close a few times and never made the last step
I prefer playing out of the back if it's safe to do so, but am of the belief to play it long if there's any doubt of it being unsafe to play it from the back.Always good to mix it up.
I can see the value of playing out of the back, yes, but I don't like it when players take chances. When in doubt, lump it!
Agreed. This will almost rule out the Toffee's slim chance of qualifying for Europe, but they were in the drop zone when Ancelotti took over.
My problem is EVERY team tries to play it out of the back EVERY time
Mason Holgate clears a pass from Pedro for a Chelsea corner
Pickford easily catches the corner and throws it short.
That's a good point . Playing short works on the continent where players aren't pressed nearly as often, but not in the Prem where many teams use the high press.
Wow... a pundit saying to put the ball in the box... what an amazing idea!
It is complete snobbishness !!
Bloody Pep
It's a big footie day for Yours Truly. The Manc Derby is after this match then this evening Elizabeth and I are going to watch the RGV Toros season opener, which is against the L.A. Galaxy second team.
Right there... Chelsea play out from the back... it worked that time but one misstep....goal!
Don't understand with all the money at stake how managers allowed the risk!!
Sounds fun David
Well, my problem is that teams don't know their strengths. It's one thing for United or Barcelona to play out of the back. It's another thing for Yeovil Town to try and do that.
Wow - I hadn't even thought about the MLS season starting up.
Thanks, Dave. I have gone once each season, but might go more often this season
A minute of stoppage time
Jose at it again yesterday....completely singling out Ndombele saying he was nonexistent !
How does that help a new signing?
The Toros are in the U.S.L. Championship, which is one division below MLS
Bernard... has a chance to go forward.... tries to cut back and go the wrong way... half time
Everton were pants!
I hope this is a game of two halves
Chelsea two up at the half
United did well to sack Jose. He had a poor
pre- match press conference yesterday.
So the Manc derby is on NBC proper
The bad thing about being on NBC...it joins one second before kick off
Walcott on for Bernard... wonder if he was hurt
Upper deck across the field is empty!! How much food do people need
We are off
Ancelotti with a substitution as Theo is on . Not sure who he replaced as the second half is underway.
Thanks, Dave. Bernard didn't really do anything, so that sounds like a good change
It's not worth it to get food at the half. The lines are ridiculously long and you end up missing the first fifteen minutes of the second half.
Thanks for the reminder. I forgot about the derby match being on NBC. It makes things simpler if they keep it on NBCSN
COME ON YOU TOFFEES
It appears that it will be close to a full schedule of matches in Serie A , which is good news after almost every match was cancelled the past few weekends due to the Corona virus
Three nil
Willian with a decent effort.... no defending there!
I'm back from doing the dishes at half-time just in time to see Willian fire in a third.
GOAL !!!WILLIAN PUTS CHELSEA THREE UP WITH A WELL PLACED STRIKE FROM JUST OUTSIDE THE D OFF A PASS FROM BARKLEY
That's Everton sliced and diced then, chaps - sorry.
This is helping Chelsea's GD. United had an advantage in that column but this will pretty much equal that out
United now are only +1 better but still time for Chelsea to get more AND United to drop down
Now Pedro bursts through looking for a fourth goal.
Nearly a fourth Chelsea goal as Pedro had a deflected shot go just over
FOUR NIL... Giroud nets Chelsea's fourth
Willian takes the corner short and
GOAL !!!OLLY PUTS CHELSEA FOUR UP
Make that 4-0! Kate's favorite Olly Giroud from about two yards.
Willian played the corner short, got the pass back then his cross was put away by Olly, who too easily cut in front of compatriot, Digne
Skysports crew Old Trafford.
Just saw a bit on Instagram with Keane and Neville...their studio was behind and little to the left of my seat at Old Trafford!
Thanks, Bob. United still need to do their part and win matches even though a draw today would be a decent result
WOW! That's fantastic that you sat near the seats of legends
OH!! The Toffees picked apart again and Pickford acrobatically turns around a shot from Pedro headed for the upper 90
Pickers desperately saves Everton from going 5-0 down. Did Ancelotti pick any defenders today?
There is talk of Real Madrid coming after De Gea again this summer. Do we just sell him? I am fed up with the Spanish clubs always wanting anyone they want
Should we cash in and bring in Henderson?
From instagram
Since the start of last season, no player has made more errors leading to goal in the PL than Man Utd's David De Gea.....7 times
An attacking switch from Ancelotti as Moise Kean on for Tom Davies
I had brought that up during the first half. United sure do have leverage now that Dean Henderson is in fine form. United should bring in Henderson and start him next season. He's the best English keeper on current form
Chelsea with their first substitution and a defensive one as Reese James is mounted on to the pitch
Mount has gone straight down the tunnel for treatment. Does that mean that it's a bad one?
Bob would be pleased to see Dean Henderson recalled to United . But for him, the Evil Blades would be fighting a relegation battle.
Happy Gilmour gets a pass from Barkley and wins a corner
It's hard to say. It might not be and may be for precautionary measures
I was really hopeful of Chelsea dropping points today...very upsetting...hope the late one cheers me up a bit.... I fear not!
United have beaten City TWICE this season BUT the one game at Old Trafford.... we were thumped
There is talk of Chelsea wanting Hendo... bugger off
First corner of the match for Everton - woo hoo!
In terms of the PPP a big match in Serie a this afternoon as Juve host Inter, which is a contest of Chelsea's two previous managers and no love lost between the two
The corner was a waste .Taken short then the cross went out of play
Good week at home for Chelsea so far
6 goals and none conceded against the red and blue sides of Stanley Park
I bet they wish they could play Merseyside teams every week even though Liverpool played a weakened side at SB in the Cup
Lamps giving youth a chance as Anjorin is on for Willian
Bloody Klopp..... treat the FA Cup with respect!
I would love that. The Blades are playing well above their heads.
I just checked FOTMOB. This is Anjorin's Prem debut. His only other first team appearance was in October when he played 23 minutes against Grimsby in the League Cup in October
Derby take the lead vs Rovers
I agree - managers should treat the Cup with respect.
I don't get it with Klopp...the league is done and dusted! The undefeated season is gone..."rest" players for league matches and try and match United's treble..... moronic
Bob , you will be pleased next season as the Evil Blades will surely not get a keeper of the quality of Dean Henderson. They will be found out. There's a reason why their stadium is called Bramall Lane instead of Quality Street.
Oh dear... punmeister
The Rams goal scored by young Louie Sibley, who was thuggish against United on
Agreed about Klopp and the Cup . The league is all but won
Line Ups announced from Old Trafford
Good Guys
De Gea, Lindeloff, Maguire, Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, Matic, Fred, Williams, Fernandes, James, Martial
Subs
Romero, Bailly, Mata, Ighalo, Greenwood, Tuanzebe, McTominay
Bad Guys
Ederson, Canelo, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Zinchenko, B Silva, Rodri, Gundogan, Foden, Aguero, Sterling
Subs
Bravo, Walker, Jesus, D Silva, Mendy, Mahrez, Garcia
I would have preferred McTom instead of Matic
Don't like just having Martial up top...he doesn't' get in the box enough. Put on Greenwood or Ighalo and have him out wide
The Toffees giving youth a chance as well. Young Anthony Gordon on for Calvert-Lewin and why not? This one is done and dusted. This is his second Prem appearance for the Toffees . Played 45 minutes at the Hammers in January and half a dozen minutes vs the Foxes in the League Cup in December
It's pouring in West London...with sunshine
I think Bob will like the pun due to his dislike of the Blades.
Chelsea's two teens combine. Happy Gilmour goes on a run then finds Anjorin and as he was about to shoot a last ditch slide tackle from Sidibe prevented a fifth Chelsea goal
Won't Fernandes basically play alongside Kung Fu Panda?
Always love your puns, mate, especially at the expense of the Evil Blades.
Great choice of wording when posting the lineups. I had a feeling United would play with only one up front vs Citeh. There are better choices to play as striker such as Greenwood or Ighalo. I would play MCtomain instead of Matic too.
Who's your pick for England goalkeeper for the Euros, lads? I'm still loyal to Pickers.
Thanks, Bob . I thought you would like that one and agree with it
I would go with Dean Henderson based on current form
Fernandes usually plays behind the strikers, so I expect him to be karate chopped behind the lone striker if he lines up in the striking position.
Gilmour playing in back of the midfield. The media go gaga over these defensive midfielders...they say he's brilliant
Over hyped!
The final roll of the dice from Lamps and another youngster on as Broja replaces Olly.
Derby two up vs Rovers
Three teenagers on the pitch for Chelski now - that's a sea change under Frank Lamps. You wouldn't have seen that under Mourinho.
The more I look at it... I don't like the line up
Williams and Shaw
Fred and Matic
very defensive
I WANT MY FOUR FOUR TWO BACK!!!
Billy Gilmour is making the Toffees look like the Gilmore Girls today. Is he that good or the Toffees that bad?
See... they are saying Gilmour Man of the Match
So snobby again
Armnado Borja not just making his Prem debut for Chelsea, but it's a first team debut in any competition. He's from the academy under 18 side
I don't think he's been that noticeable
He did do well considering his youth and inexperience.
Blow up ref!!
After this week, Chelski will want to play Merseyside clubs for the rest of the season.
Can you tell me what he actually did?
Got the ball and passed it five feet
3 added minutes
Conte and Sorry didn't give youth a chance either. I guess that's been going on at Chelsea for many years
I haven't noticed him that much.
For England keeper....I think I would stay with Picks...he seems to play better for England... never let us down
I thin Gilmour had an assist on the first goal and created and would have had two more , but for missed sitters.
Me neither.... it is hip to say he ran the match
You must be smarter than me then
Wasted corner from Chelsea
I would pick Willian as MOTM with Mount and Barkley tied second
All over....not a good start to the day...I can only hope it gets better but I wouldn't count on it
That's that, then. In truth this one was over after about 50 minutes. Everton weren't really in it and suddenly after a good start Ancelotti, Everton have slumped.
It's over as Chelsea thrash the by a Barber Shop Quartet without reply, leaving Ancelotti and Co. singing the Blues
I bet NBC boys are going to go gaga over Gil
Blue is the Color being played....great football song
United better not play like the away team!!
YOU ARE AT HOME
That is one thing that has changed recently....there is danger on the bench that can come on and make a difference
No KDB which is positive
So defensive... BACK FIVE.... and a keeper... OVER HALF THE TEAM DEFENDERS
Sitting back... hate it
As they said earlier... Liverpool could be Champs before they take the field again
City lose to United, Arsenal and Burnley.... it's over
Three NUMPTIES in the box
The three numpties are close to the level of my suite
Everyone is saying about the race for fourth...how about race for third!
Chelsea are only two points behind Leicester
United really need a win here - come on, the Red Devils!
Teams in the tunnel now - well done, NBC!
Teams in tunnel... NBC surely will go to split screen and then over to NBC proper
Stay for atmosphere ...you used to do it!
Not looking forward to the crowded commentary in the three-man box. At least one should be thrown overboard.
Back for the Manc Derby. As Dave stated, NBC will go to the match a second before kickoff
We turn it over... to commercials
GET TO THE GROUND!!
Finally.... we are off the spit second NBC joins
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
They're off from OT and true to form NBC went to the match a second before kickoff
Already hate how City are playing
When they say three's a crowd they sure had this commentary trio in mind. They're a bunch of Citeh fans
Refreshing that both teams wearing their kits...including matching white shorts
They used to change those...United wore black on the road and City wore blue or black
I expect a much closer match than the early match
Come on, the Reds!
I remember those kits quite well. I miss those.
It sure is much later in the day than it feels.
Oh - King Fu nearly in there. Zinchenko mops up.
United playing around the back...knock it off.... ball goes towards Martial who didn't look bothered to run after it
More patheticness from Martial
I think City should have put Sterling on the other side
another poor pass by Martial.....go wide!
