Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Project Restart?

As we've been chatting about this week, there are plans afoot for a possible restart of the 2019/2020 Premier League season on the weekend of June 13. I think it's sheer madness - I'd far prefer to abandon the season, announce Liverpool as champions, forgo the relegation process and promote the top two from the Championship. Then, everyone's happy. I'm just not sure how they pull any of it off.

But, here's a thoughtful and informative piece from the Guardian about the plans: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/apr/29/premier-leagues-project-restart-what-is-it-and-is-it-feasible

Here's my opinion. June 13th is too early to resume matches. This is probably more about greed and profits than any concern over safety of fans, players, staff, the media, etc. It's really not feasible either. It's a really cumbersome plan at best and how will it be implemented? Supposedly, there will be daily testing. If one person of a football club test positive then that club will not be able to play matches for 30 days. On paper the season would end in late July or early August. That would be under ideal circumstances. It would take much longer, otherwise. Matches would have to be played in empty stadiums. It just seems far too soon.

Totally agree, mate. I think the season should be abandoned and Liverpool announced as champions, no relegation and the top two (Leeds and WBA) promoted with the idea of a 22 team Prem for one season and the bottom five going down the following season.

I am agreement.
In Holland, they cancelled the season.... it was... as Dr. Emmet Brown said.... erased from existence!
In France.... they cancelled the season but awarded the title to PSG. Are they promoting teams?

Others plan to continue in empty stadiums, neutral grounds even abroad!
If teams play, fans will congregate outside the stadium no matter what. Espeicially Liverpool fans!

I have a third option.
The team that won the last game, no matter what competition, should be crowned champions.
Let's see....March 12.... LASK 0 Manchester United 5

Seems fair to me!
