The Derby on Sunday

After the footer feast yesterday and a late night last night, I decided to have a lie in. So, I'm happy to wake up to the news that Palace did the business against hapless WBA 1-5. Sheffield United are currently holding Leicester 1-1 at Bramall Lane, but I'm hoping that the Foxes will do the business in the second half and that my beloved Leeds won't lose any ground this weekend. Of course, the biggie today is the North London Derby at Shite Fart Lane. This is a particularly intriguing match, with Spurs flying at the moment and Arsenal faltering. But anything can happen on the day. I'm really looking forward to that one. Join me from 11:30am EST on Peacock.

Seventy minutes in and Leicester are still struggling to put Sheffield United away.

As it stands, Leeds have been pushed down into 14th now, but we're still eight points off the relegation zone. That said, Burnley in 18th do have a match in hand on us, so we can't be complacent. We need a win against the Hammers on Friday for sure.

Leicester are pouring the pressure on the Sheffield United goal now. The Blades are just trying to hang on to this point, which would only be their second this season.

Wahay! Jamie Vardy has popped up with a 90th minute winner for Leicester! Everything is going just swimmingly this morning. Sheffield United stuck on the bottom with one point from 11.

11:04 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

So, as they often do, Leicester have stolen all three points. That jumps them up to fourth again and pushes the two Manchester clubs down to fifth and sixth, although both have games in hand.

Good morning,. Bob. I'm sure you're delighted with the results this morning and the Blades being lured in to a false sense of security that they thought they would get a pount . Bottom with a point in eleven matches where they belong

Early free kick chance for Spurs now - Kane upended by Xhaka Khan.

11:32 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Xakha Khan with a tough foul on Harry Kane

11:32 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Dier appears to be eyeing a shot on goal here. Well over the top.

11:33 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That free kick was really Dier

11:33 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Useless free kick

11:33 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Bob must feel the Blades are where they belong with a point in eleven matches. That's where they belong and they're really being put to the sword

11:34 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Dave, delighted with the great news for you and Kathy

11:34 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I missed that challenge but according to La Cazette Harry Kane was Abel to commit a foul

11:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

All the signs indicate that Spurs should walk this.....so Gunners to win

11:36 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

The Arsenal free kick is cleared out now and then Saka has a go but is well wide and high of the mark.

11:37 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Poor free kick from Willian then a long range shot from Saka was taken as if he was tryin g to hit some of the Spurs fans

Blogger United We Stand said...

I have to miss much of the second half!

11:39 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Totally agree, Dave - if we're supposed to pay extra, we should at least get decent coverage.

11:39 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Gunners have done most of the early attacking . They need to score to force Jose to change his tactics

11:39 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Absolutely, David - Jose is cynical to the bone.

11:40 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree too. They should refund me part of my fees if They're going to lag behind

11:40 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I was reading La Cazette and read the latest report stating that Hoyberg is getting away with bloody murder. Are they correct?

11:41 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

What's happened to Lee Dixon - Arlo seems to be partnered with Le Sox every weekend now.

11:41 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's not party time as a long range shot from Partey is well wide

11:42 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Was Lee sacked?

11:42 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I suppose the one advantage of the new system is that we're able to watch every match if we have time for it. I realized yesterday morning when I woke up at 7am, that I had 10 hours of footer ahead of me! Cor!

11:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Sonaldo with a great goal

BEST EVER according to Bloody Arlo!

11:44 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

GOAL! Sonaldo curls in a corker!

Spuds 1-0 up!

11:44 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!!! WHAT A GOAL FROM NUMBER ONE SON. ON A RARE ATTACK NUMBER ONER SON WITH A LONG RANGE SHOT CURLED IN THE UPPER 90

11:44 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That's why you need to shoot!

Are you watching United!!!1

11:44 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Son has scored more goals that Arsenal!

11:45 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

That's Mourinho's Spurs team to a tee. They've played really deep for fifteen minutes, then they spring a quick break and have two players - Kane and Son - who have the quality to produce something like that. I don't like it.

11:45 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That was a classic counter. A gunners cross was twice headed away then Harry Kane and Abel to find NUmber One Son who went on a run then curled that shot in the upper 90

11:45 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

The danger now for Arsenal is that as they push for an equalizer they're always capable of springing the same kind of break.

11:46 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Harry Kane and Abel to add to his league leading assists as is Number One son with his league leading scoring

11:46 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Of course, I would rather Spurs win the league than Liverpool

Just a shame Jose is involved

United are so bad but not that far off!!
United are FIVE points behind Spurs with a game in hand vs Burnley

11:46 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Jose will have his players park the bus with two banks of four basically eliminating any entertainment from the match

11:47 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Saka with a chance... bad touch!!

11:48 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

As poor as United have been this season they may be in a good position to finish third again

11:48 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I can't believe Arsenal are in 15th.

11:48 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I like how Liverpool play better. They don't park the bus at home like Spurs are doing. Spurs are just a slightly better Leicester City.

I don't see the Foxes challenging for the title. Their form has dipped and struggled to defeat the last placed team. Looks like it will be between SPurs, Pool,Citeh, and possibly United

11:53 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Perhaps Chelsea might be in it , but I think they will fade away

11:53 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

They said yesterday, United had won their first five away games of a season since 1985...that year....United won their first 10 games of the season... Championship almost conceded by everyone....United blow it...finish fourth.... Liverpool win their only double

11:54 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United accumulated 30 points from their first 10 games and then only 46 from their last 32!!!

11:55 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That was the beginning of the end for Atkinson. Then came SAF and the rest is history

11:55 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I reckon that Liverpool, City and Chelsea are the best sides. Spurs will fall away. If they have any injuries to Kane or Son, they have no replacements.

11:56 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Long range shot from Hoy Berg straight to Jay Leno, who didn't think it was a laughing matter

11:57 AM

They were their only challengers late but then got pipped to the runners up spot by Arsenal on the last day

Oh - just behind Willian there. Great ball in from Aubama.

12:10 PM

12:12 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Lo Celso booked for a cynical challenge

12:12 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I read an article in La Cazette that due to a foul just outside the box that Lo Celso should be sent off for a second yellow

12:13 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Dangerous free kick now given away by Lo Celso, who could have picked up a second yellow there. He'll have to be careful now.

12:14 PM

Free kick chance for the Gunners...perhaps take a shot?

12:14 PM

Harry Kane is spending more time in his own half - this is not the way that champions play at home!

I will probably comment during Pool's match

12:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It came on the counter. Lo Celso went on a long run. He passed to Number One Son, who slid a reverse pass to Harry Kane and Abel to score

12:17 PM

We're back for the second half. I'm really irritated. Spurs did nothing in the first half and somehow they're 2-0 up. What a load of rubbish.

12:33 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Free kick for the Gunners now.

Oh - that just needed a touch and it would have been a goal back.

12:35 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - great cross over from Tierney and Aubama really needed to get over that header. Poor effort from him.

12:36 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Spurs predictably dropping deep again. Cynical.

12:37 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - great move there. But no finishing touch from the Arsenal forwards.

12:38 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Back from a refreshing shower for the remainder of the second half

12:38 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Arteta probably can't believe that his side are 2-0 down - they've actually played well and have dominated the match.

12:39 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Despite Spurs's negative tactics the main difference between the two teams ins finishing. Spurs are far more clinical in front of goal than he Gunners who need to start scoring from their chances

12:40 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's basically smash and grab tactics

12:40 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

It is - yes, the main difference is that Spurs have Kane and Son, who are in sparkling form. One chance and they score. Can you imagine how many goals we'd score if we had that kind of quality up front? As it is, Patrick has 8 in 11 matches.

12:42 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Patrick has had an excellent season . This season will be a learning experience for Leeds and after that they should improve to be a top class team

12:45 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The only matches with fans this weekend have been in London. I wonder where else fans are permitted

12:47 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's been an uneventful second half which plays into Little Joe's hands

12:49 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Little Joe shouting instructions. Is he telling Spurs to have more players behind the ball?

12:51 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Really irritated by this match.

12:53 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I read La Cazette and an article stating that Spurs have been getting away with bloody murder. They said Murder on the Little Joe Express

12:54 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I missed that last Gunners chance. The article in La Cazette read French connection as Lloris di well to turn around a header

12:56 PM

Falling down, writhing, late subbing

1:00 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Welcome back, Dave. You didn't miss much other than a great save by Lloris from a La Cazette header.

1:00 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Great sweeper keeping by Jay Leno as he rushes to the halfway line to clear to prevent another Spurs counter. This time off a Gunners corner

1:01 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Dave. Saka was receiving treatment, so it wouldn't have mattered, but they need to start booking players who take too much time going off the field

1:02 PM

1:03 PM

1:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am not as negative as both of you for Spurs

They lost to Everton in their first game
Dropped two points at home with a last second dubious pen
Dropped two points at home giving away a three goal in the last second

Apart from that, only Chelsea match did they drop points normally

1:05 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Spurs so defensive that Harry Kane is back heading away a Gunners corner

1:05 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cross from Ceballos headed away by Aurier for yet another corner

1:06 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Spurs is in great form. I am more negative about Jose than Spurs. I don't like the fact that they sit back and defend and only attack on rare counters. I wish they were more fun to watch

I just read that said that Burnley have a game in hand on your lot... it is against United!

1:22 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Well, that's going to be a really dispiriting loss for Arsenal. They were the better side for large swaths of the match, but they got nothing.

Spurs on the other side had only two chances in the match and took both of them. Three points for them. I hate modern football.

1:22 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

They were the better side BUT did they create many chances?

MODERN DAY FOOTBALL!!

1:23 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Keane and Viera sure did more from that position. They actually created chances

1:24 PM

I hope that United will thump Burnley for us.
