The Biggest Match of the Round
It's still the biggest rivalry in English football and it's the fixture that lights up this round of the FA Cup this season. Manchester United v. Liverpool - it's a match up that conjures up so many memories, including the one pictured above. Let's hope that this latest edition lives up to the promise. I'll be helping out Kate with some projects this morning, but I'll be looking forward to joining you for the proceedings.

Good Morning, Bob. Thanks for getting us started. So far today all the matches have been played in a snowy West London. The two late matches will be in the Northwest off England
In the early match Chelsea defeated Luton 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Tammy Abraham. The first Chelsea goal was controversial as there were two balls on the pitch when Chelsea took a throw and caught Luton off guard. Werner had a spot kick saved by Simon Sluga in thew luton goal while the Luton goal was yet another howler bye the Chelsea Kept , who made up for that with a few decent saves after that
The first upset of the Round in the making as the Bees lead the Foxes 1-09 at the half thanks to sloppy defending off a Bees corner. Meanwhile Burnley one up at the half at Bob and Kate's
In the Championship PNE vs the Reading Railroad finished 0-0 . PNE in tenth and the Railroaders in fifth. Teesiders vs Blackburn 0-0 midway through he first half
GOAL !!!! the foxes tie it up early ion the second half. THE BEES COUGHED UP THE BALL IN THEIR OWN HALF TO THE FOURTH PRESIDENT WHO WENT ON A RUN AND PICKED OUT UNDER WUTHA NICE POASS , WHO BEAT THE OFFSIDE TRAP AND SCORED WITH A GREAT FINISH PAST LUKE DANIELS
Morning Boys
I was watching Leicester at Brentford but turned Plus to Bob and Kate's place. I have 5Live for the Brentford match.
The visitors tie it up early in the second half
Visitors winning at the Cottage
Bees cough up possession again and Ayoze with a free header , heads over a great cross from Tielemans
Good morning, Dave. We need a repeat of what happened twenty one years ago today
Great pic!
That OGS was scored 22 years ago TODAY
Same again please.... well let's not have United fall behind after two minutes and then take 86 minutes to equalize
Penalty to Leicester.
The commentators think it is a dive... but no VAR
Leicester take the lead
GOAL !!! FOXES LEAD 1-2 . TIELEMANS DANIELS THE WRONG WAY FROM THE SPOT. TARIQ FOSU CALLED FOR WHAT LOOKED A SOFT FOUL ON TIELEMANS FOR THE PENALTY
Sorry. Not sure why why I said twenty one. History needs to repeat itself from 22 years ago today
Didn't get a good look at the penalty decision, but it looked a tad harsh
Sergio Canos down off a clumsy foul by Soyuncu
Just over by the Fourth President as the Foxes have another chance
15 minutes until the sides are announced
Will both teams play strong teams? Half and half?
Long diagonal played wide right to Ricardo and his pass into the box was shot just did eby Under , who was wide open and should have at least worked Luke Daniels
If they play half and half then that's better than some teams do in the Cup
Pressley recently came on as a sub for the Bees and guilty of a miss kick in the Foxes box. Definitely NOT the best since Elvis
GOAL !!! THE FOURTH PRESIUDENT GIVES THE FOXES A 1-3 LEAD. LUKE DANIELS FUMBLED A SHOT AND MADDY TAPPED IN THE REBOUND
Burnley double their lead from the spot
Kate was guilty of some silly defending
Bees stung by second half errors . This time they coughed up the ball in midfield and the ball broke to Under who played a nice long ball to Harvey Barnes and his shot was fumbled by Luke Daniels and the rebound was easily put away by President #4
Surprised the error came from Kate. I was expecting that from Bob
Bob is a cultured defender!!!
J Rod at the double. The best since A
LOL! I bet he doesn't even believe that
VAR looking at handbags... Bob and Kate were having an argy bargy.....yellows all round.... grow up you two!
Bruno rested
VDB and Rash starts
Salah and Firmino starts
Mane bench
In the Scots league Cup we could have an all Saints final. Cpouls be Johnny vs Helen. Who would finish on top?
Fulham almost get one back
Keeper saves but ball still rolling in but saved off line
LOL! Hope they don't act that way at future reunions. More adult behavior at the Bees new stadium
United
Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, McTominay, Pogba, Van de Beek, Greenwood, Rashford, Cavani.
Subs: De Gea, Telles, Tuanzebe, Fernandes, Fred, James, Mata, Matic, Martial.
Liverpool
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, R. Williams, Fabinho, Thiago, Wijnaldum, Milner, Jones, Salah, Firmino.
Subs: Kelleher, Mane, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Minamino, Tsimikas, Shaqiri, Origi, Phillips, N. Williams.
Burnley 3-0 up
Burnley three up. Bob and Kate are being really hospitable this morning. Are they taking the Cup seriously
J Rod with a pair of goals and an assist. Surely must be the best Rod since A
United loanee coming on as a late sub for the Bees
Up at Hampden.... one nil Livingston.... I don't think Stanley scored
As things stand , still no upsets this round of the cup and no ET matches
LOL, Dave. I guess their LC Final won't be played on All Saints Day
Snowy in Northwest England or is it mainly in the South of England?
They had a quiz today on 5Live
There are 14 teams that have made the FA Cup Final but never won it
How many can you name?(no cheating)
Danny Ward in the Foxes goal fumbles a long range shot and Pressley more like Lisa Marie as hje shoots the rebound well over of a wide open goal
There is one that is obscure....the rest are not
Foxes , Palace , QPR, Hornets, and Cottagers come to mind.
Millwall is another
I think Charlton Athletic is another
Bob has blown the final whistle and told everyone to bugger off
Burnley win 3-0
You've got six but Charlton won it in 47
The obscure one is Queens Park
Foxes win 1-3 at the Bees and Burnley win 0-3 at Bob and Kate's. No ET and no upsets so far this round
The only Scottish club to make the FA Cup Final?
So seven more are needed
We have Leicester, C. Palace, QPR, Watford, Fulham, Millwall and Queens Park
I guess so
The Seagulls and Burnley
Queens Park lost in 1884 and 85 both to Blackburn Rovers
The Teesiders
The Potters
#7 Brighton
Burnley have won it
Boro and Stoke
8 and 9
I don't like that there link starts so late for the Plus matches
How about Bury?
Who do you want to win the NFL match ups
Who will win the Battle of the Bays?
Will Bob's lot beat the champs?
Not sure how many you have!
Leicester, QP, QPR, Palace, Watford, Fulham, Brighton, Boro, Millwall, Stoke
Four more?
Bury have won the Cup
Off for walkies ahead of the big match
Oldham?
Luton for sure
Luton yes
Oldham no
3 more
Doing well
Back from walkies and just thought of Barnsley
Bradford City?
Got my line going....showing some United/Liverpool FA Cup games
77 Final
96 Final
99 4th Round
Liverpool won the last two
I don't think United had lost to Liverpool in the Cup until the last two!
They also beat them in the 79 and 85 Semi finals
Nope... Barnsley have won it
Three more
One quite recent
One a long time ago
One that have lost a couple... not in our lifetime tho
There's Old Trafford.... I've been there!!!
So happy I was finally able to go there.... with two of my United loving boys too
Hiya, boys! I thought you might enjoy that OGS picture that accompanies this thread. I hope he's going to be celebrating this afternoon, too.
Looks like a platform has been built on my seat!!
Welcome Bob
Have you had Kate stopped handbags?
Also the 1979 Semifinal in a replay. They should show that one
Liverpool in all green coming out of the tunnel
Good morning, Bob. Definitely want OGS celebrating again. Great picture
Here comes the good guys
Do you want the last three teams, David?
Morning, Dave - I don't understand your question. What about "handbags" with Kate?
I still want to think of the three teams for a few more minutes
Birmingham City for sure.
Prefer Liverpool in white shirts and black shorts or all yellow
They're off from OT!
COME ON MAN UNITED! SAME AS TWENTY TWO YEARS AGO TODAY
Two more
Recent
Long ago
Each lost to the two most successful sides in the competion
WE ARE OFF
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
VDB gets the match underway
Amd we're away at OT - come on, you Red Devils!
The Tigers
Birmingham City as well
One more.... Still in the Cup
I'm guessing Grimsby
I expect a tight, tactical match here today. These sides know all about each other and neither will want to throw caution to the wind. Maybe a repeat of the match from a couple of weeks ago?
Liverpool starting well
Come on United... don't let Liverpool get a good run going!
Liverpool haven't scored since the 7-0 win... Klopp said that he would have preferred to win 7 games one-nil then 1 game 7-0
HE WAS RIGHT
Hull and Brum yes
One more... still in the Cup this year
VDB Shaw did shoot over from a cross
Lost to the greatest team that the world has ever seen
Early corner for United - no one attacking that cross with any urgency.
Bristol City is the last one . I think they lost to United in the early 1900s. Thanks for the clue
GOT IT
Well done mate
1909
Rashford loses the ball on the dribble... COME ON... CONCENTRATE
He was so poor last week against them!
You should be up for any Liverpool match being a Manc man
Thanks, Dave. Great quiz question.
Rash almost with a great ball
Greenwood... pass the ball!!!
Oh - Greenwood with a great run there but he chose to shoot from an acute angle rather than cross. Alisson saved with his feet fairly easily.
Bob, I asked David to name the 14 teams to make a Cup Final but never won it
14 of them
1. Leicester 4 times 49, 61, 63, 69
2. Queens Park lost to Blackburn twice 84 .85
3 Birmingham twice 31. 56
4 Palace-twice to Utd 90,16
5 Watford-twice 84, 19
6. Bristol C- 1909 to Utd
7 Luton- 59
8 QPR -82
9 Brighton -83
10 Fulham 75
11. Hull -14
12 Stoke -11
13 Boro- 97
14 Millwall 04
Well done, David - I didn't have a Scooby.
United break... Cavani finds Greenwood.... Ronaldo step overs...hits one wide
Cheers, Bob. No probs, mate
Oh - another chance for Greenwood. A wee bit greedy again. Not sure that he's going to get a Valentine from Cavani next month.
Greenwood has really fallen since his England troubles... Foden has grown!
I wonder if this will finish 0-0 after ET followed by a half hour of missed spot kicks in the shootout
Greenwood frozen by the Iceland experience
Both teams have had openings. It’s been more exciting than last week. Then again, so was filling out a tax return.
Rash wins ONE corner off of THREE first names
I think United are not finding the right passes.
They have missed some open men!
LOOK UP
That Shaw was a tame shot from Pogba off the corner
I hope not, mate. We deserve better than that.
BUGGER! SALAH GIVES POOL THE LEAD
Bugger... Salah scores for the visitors!
Not good defending by United
Lindeloff didn't have clue where anyone was
Sorry, chaps - Salah opens the scoring for Liverpool.
It all started with a throw from ALison off the tame Pogba volley and after about a dozen passes Wijnaldum passed to Bobby Chompers who put through Salah who scored with just Dean Henderson to beat as the United defense switched off
Thanks, Bob
Late free kick given to Pool
That Shaw was a poor United foul inches outside the box
It was a foul but it was theatrical....something has to change about the acting!!
Free kick from TAA curled about a foot over
Rash down off a stray elbow from Thiago but seems to be okay
WAY HAY! MASON GREEN WOOD AGAINST THE GREENS TIES IT UP
The scoring has gone the same as 99
Of course, it looks like Liverpool won the toss and sent United the wrong way!!
GOAL!!!!
Greenwood!!!!!
Great pass from Rashford!
Yes!!!!
Greenwood levels it after a smashing pass from Rashford!
1-1!
Although he scored, Cavani was still having a go at young Greenwood for not passing to him! LOL!
STOP GIVING THE BALL AWAY OUTSIDE YOUR OWN BOX
VDB almost in!
It all started with a tackle won by Pogba just outside the United box. Then VDB passed wide left to Rash and a superb long ball from the halfway line found Mason Greenwood , who beat the offside trap and scored with a well placed shot with just Allison to beat
He got a knock
Some of the passing around the back is so dangerous when it is so slack
This is more like the kind of match that we want between these two clubs.
The winner of this match will host the Moyes' Boys
Bob, you rooting for your Bills today?
Needless corner conceded by Harry Maguire
Cynical by Thiago on Rash. it was rash
Im annoyed Liverpool stopped their goal drought... I wanted that to continue for a while longer
Everyone is going gaga over Thiago.... doesn't do anything for me
Did he get a card?
There free kick Shaw was headed over by Rhys Williams for a United corner
Shaw puts in the free kick...I think it went shorter than he wanted
Untied get a corner
Shaw to take...Pogba heads over the bar....get it on target
Pogba Shaw does head over from the edge of the box from the corner
WIDE OPEN header
The late match is a repeat of the 1966 Cup Final when the Toffees came from two down to win when a rarely used played scored twice then had an obscure career
United with a 6 point lead over Liverpool in the League
United host the Blades
Liverpool visite Jose's lot
Fingers crossed for NINE
Another corner, another header won, another one over the top!
Pool must have a case of McTomain poisoning or at least I'm pretty Shaw as another free header is allowed off a corner, yet headed over again
United break... good tackle from Shaw... comes to nothing
Rash takes a dive
Pool attack and a header Shaw is out for a pool corner
Both sides have gone back into their shells again. They're just knocking it about as if they just want to get into the dressing room and have a cuppa.
Milner with a Leeds Academy type shot
SLICE HORRIBLY WIDE
IT IS ALL BLOODY PEP'S FAULT
Liverpool got themselves into trouble
Fab with a yellow
That was nasty.... will VAR look at it?
Free kick to United just outside the Pool box. Fab booked for a challenge that was less than Fab
Come on United... score from this!!
Free kick from Pogba curled wide
Pogs hits one wide and high
Thought it was too close to score
Shaw gets one over... comes out to McTom... blocked!
Alison Shaw does push out a cross then Thiago blocks a UInited shot
A minute of stoppage time
I wonder if United are annoyed for Liverpool making them attack the Stretford End first
Payback the next time we are at Anfield
BTW, these days...United don't play better going toward the SE
United with a chance... ends with Pogba hitting it wide
At least we are shooting
Rash and Mason Greenwood combine to set up Pogba , who side foots a shot wide from just outside the box
It's 1-1 at the half of a finely balanced cup tie
Will Ole bring on Brunoldo in the second half?
Half time
I am ok with that performance
Come on UNITED....get the next couple of goals
Half-time: The teams troop in at 1-1. It will take some changes to break the deadlock in the second half.
I think I will be concentrating on the NFL instead of the last match of the day at Goodison
Henderson already out for United.... no one else is!
Livingston beat St Mirren to make the League Cup Final north of the border
The bad boys are out.... here comes the good uns
Back for the second half and no changes as expected.
No changes by either side
The second half underway from OT
Off we go
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
The Scots league Cup Final sounds gripping as it will be a duel between two grumpy old men. Mr. Livingston and St. Johnny
Don't think the Toffees will nee d to come from two down as they did in the 1966 Final, the first of my lifetime
Barca won today and are now in third
A Madrid on top with 44 pts
R Madrid 40
Barca 37
A. Madrid have two games in hand
When the EL draw was made, United got drawn against top of the table Real Sociedad...they are now in 6th
YES!!!!!!!
RASHFORD GIVES UNITED THE LEAD!!!!!
WAY HAY ! RASH SCORES WITH A WELL PALCED FINISH WITH JUST ALISONM TO BEAT AS UNITED HAVE COME FROM BEHIND TO LEAD 2-1
COME ON... SCORE ANOTHER
I think he's onside
Wahay! I'm just back in my seat from lunch to see Marcus Rashford knock in United's second!
Would have been onside anyway because the defender touched it.... that is still stupid
Well... go back and finish your lunch again and then sit down again
Same combination as the first United goal but with a the roles reversed. It Shaw did start with a United throw deep in their half. An innocuous through ball from Mason Greenwood was horribly misjudged by Ryhs Williams and Rash cashed in with the great finish past Alison
United cannot just sit back
That was not nice by Fab....stuck his foot out
LOL, Dave! Bob feasting on some United goals and rather tasty if I may say
As you said, Greenwood and Rashford both have a goal and an assist.... wish this was in the league...I have both of them in my team!
