The FA Cup 4th Round Begins!
Afternoon, chaps! We've got an intriguing fixture on board to start the FA Cup 4th Round today. Little Chorley of the National League North will host the Premier League's Wolves. Chorley got here by dispatching Wigan, Peterborough and the Derby kids in previous rounds and they'll fancy their chances for an upset today. Wolves are in wretched form at present, with only a point from the previous five Premier League matches to show for themselves this year. Join me on the Plus for all the action.

Hey Boys,
I am here for the first half..... as they kick off
We're underway at Victory Park in tonight's FA Cup 4th Round match. Both sides are in their traditional kits.
I'm watching the match on the computer. How are you guys watching it?
Bob, on the Roku?
David, did you get the Roku Express?
Chorley with an early chance
Oh - fast start from Chorley with quick counter that forces Ruddy to save sharply.
Fireworks!
Blimey - there are fireworks going now behind the main stand. They may have saved those for full-time.
The winner of this match will host the winner of tomorrow's early match...Southampton/Arsenal
Was it at Marine where there was a big firework display?
That was for a good cause... for a sick kid
Hiya chaps. Any Chorley fans about?
Hiya Steve
Bob still hasn't noticed me
Waggle a piece of bacon about then.
Wolves cut Chorley open but Halls does brilliantly to deny Cutrone!
I am a Chorley fan...like to see the Gunners come here
Hiya, guys - welcome! I'm definitely rooting for Chorley today. No love for Wolves at all.
STILL.... I am going to hit some guests
Bob...you're blind sometimes on this thing! You post...and don't read!!
Poor form!
Good afternoon, everyone. Here to join you to see who the winner of Saints vs Gunners will face in the Fifth Round
Welcome David
Wolves take the lead!
Great shot
Players need to shoot more often!
I remember the 1978 was the first WC that players took shots at goal with great results
GOAL! Wolves are 0-1 up after a stonking hit from Moutinho that swerved past the keeper.
GOAL !!!! rocket of a shot from pitinha from about 35 to 40 yards out lands in the upper 90 to give Wolves the lead
OOH, Wallop. 1-0 Wolves. Cracking goal.
Sorry, Dave - I'll try to do better.
Welcome, David!
Thanks Dave. I was thinking of Aarie Haan vs italy and West Germany when you mentioned the 1978 World Cup
Thanks Bob. Just in time for the goal
Who did Chorley beat in the last round?
Was it Derby?
Totally agree David
Hiya Dave and David. I ring Bob's neighbors with the Goldies to incite them into barking to wake Blue Devil up.
Yeah - it was the Derby kids because they were Covid-impacted.
Not sure how much I will be able to type the other computer is loading really slow
LOL, Steve - nice one!
Nice effort from the Chorley man
Correct Chorely defeated the Rams Under 23s 2-0 and were the better side
Good afternoon, Steve
Did you see Real lost to a 3rd Tier side in the Cup?
Wolves playing it about nicely now.
It's Salford 1 harrogate 1 . They were in the same division as Chroely a few years ago. Salford go second with a win
Lovely weather in Chorley
Just looked it up on Google Earth
It is northwest of Manchester...on the way to Preston
Wow - no I hadn't seen that. What an embarrassment for them!
It looks like a really raw evening in Chorley. I'm glad to be here in The Cottage watching it with my feet up and a cuppa by my side.
Real took a very late first half lead
Conceded in the late 70s and then added time!
Bob, I asked you how you are watching this? Computer or Roku?
David, did you get Roku
Wolves have 10 men and the ball in the Chorley half. Chorley have 11 men behind the ball. We wouldn’t expect anything less, would we?
Sorry, Dave - I'm watching through the Roku.
No we did not get a ROKU. We have a great view on the IMAC and it's only a few inches away from where I type
Love the picture of the ticket booth at Chorely's stadium. Premier League Clubs need to see what it's like to be some of these tiny clubs
As I said, I am watching on the computer right now but tomorrow and the Sunday Big match will be on Roku
Chorely giving Wolves a game. Not any worse than the Evil Blades would fare against Wolves
I'm confident United can keep a clean sheet on Sunday
Roku only tomorrow? Crap!
I hope you're right...Liverpool haven't scored for over 400 minutes....hope it is 90+ more on Sunday
I'm interested in the early match and the late match tomorrow
United beat Liverpool in the FA Cup.... Fourth Round.... at Old Trafford... in 1999.....on January 24th!
Omen?
Liverpool being under par would be great in golf , but not football
You can still watch ESPN+ for all of these matches the way that you have been doing, Steve. Not to worry.
WOW! Would be amazing if history repeats itself on the 21st anniversary of that win
Thanks. That was bloody alarming.
Yes.... sorry to confuse you
Roku is a way of watching ESPN+ on the telly
Shame we can't win the REAL Treble!
I guess we can win the League, Cup and EL!
Other than the goal I don't remember the Chorely keeper having much to do
That should be enough winning for you this season, surely Dave.
That's still realistic. I'm cautiously optimistic.
There's probably a biggest marrow and a Pinewood derby trophy you can pick up too.
I am not optimistic about winning much this season....the team is too fragile
It's true, David - Wolves haven't really capitalized on their dominance and the non-leaguers are still very much in this one.
Tomlinson booked for a foul from behind on Hoover , who went on a nice solo run
LOL, Steve. Not confident of winning the quadruple, LOL!
Brilliant free kick there by Wolves.....such class
The advantage is that there really isn't a dominant side this season. I haven't seen any team that think, "cor, they're really good." They all have their weaknesses.
You've got a decent shout of winning the PPP this season, Dave, if United stay on top. Have you measured the wall-space yet?
I'm confident because we're first and can play far better. I don't see the Foxes keeping up the pace and with KDB out, that may be just enough with the title race being so tight. A drop in quality by 5- 10 % can be a huge difference this season
Clumsy on Cardwell by Boli who did well not to get a card
Chorley will hoof a free kick into the area now.
Love the cut-out of Adele with Chorley shirt in the crowd. Nice one!
I think Fabio Silva is overreacting to a foul. He got the ball first. The one on Ryan Ait-Nouri looked a clumsy challenge
I missed that cut out. Classic!
Dream results for next midweek
Tuesday
Leeds win at SJP
Fat Sam plays a blinder and get a point vs Bloody Pep
Arsenal win at St Marys...for Our Steve
Wed
United beat Blades at OT
Everton draw with Leicester
Thur
Spurs draw or beat Liverpool
Apparently they blast Adele in the dressing room to gee up the lads. Don't know why - Adele's a Londoner.
I'll take those results with the exception of WBA beating Citeh. I'll take a draw in that one.
Agreed, Dave. That would be a dream come true
Hoover a lot liker Herbert with that awful cross
I'll be rooting for the Baggies even though I know it won't happen
Maybe Big Sam can cause a sensation!!
Cutrone with a long range shot just over as Wolves is one up at the half
Oh - Dendoncker bursts through and hits a looping shot from distance.
That's the half-time whistle. Wolves will be a bit disappointed only to be 0-1 up.
That's half time and that is it from me
Off to pick up the Missus
Talk to you guys tomorrow
TTFN
I just cannot fathom the LOB love for that fat fraud Piltdown Sam.
See you tomorrow, early.
I haven't left yet
Steve.... I hate Big Sam!! I hate that he has the Not Relegated on his resume..... I just want him to beat City!! Totally selfish of me!
ESPN+ putting the boot in by showing the highlights from the Crawley disaster again. No need for that, chaps!
Sorry, I want Piltdown to do so poorly that WBA have to install a caretaker manager in February.
Back on for the second half now - come on, Chorley!
I agree, Steve - Fat Sam needs to be thoroughly humiliated and run out of the game.
Oh - decent chance there from the header.
That's unfortunately going to be on heavy repeat this year and next. Rooney had a long career and what goal are they showing over and over and over? The one where he caught Seaman napping off his line.
Back for the second half and Wolves still one up
Chorley look keyed up for this second half.
Yeah - David Seaman should file a "cease and desist" order.
Chorely keeper forced to punch away poor back header while under pressure
Chorely header well over. A decent chnace
LOL, Bob Roon won't be on Seaman's birthday card list
After the match vs Citeh Fat Sam can lose ever match 10-0, which would be fine by me
I'm sure Steve will be cheering for a Chorely comeback
Salford vs Harrogate finished Desmond in L2
I'm cheering for a Chorley equalizer. Wolves have been really cynical in this match. They're playing a non-league outfit and they're barely breaking a sweat.
Wolves goal their only shot on target. Chorely out shooting Wolves despite having only 20% of the possession. So much for possession
I don't know why Chorley are taking so long to set up this set pieces. They're 0-1 down! Get on wi' it, boys!
OH . John Ruddy di well to tip over a header from Andy Hall off the corner
Oh - great save by John Ruddy from that header.
Next corner skims off the head of Cardwell and out for a goal kick
Looks like Adama Traore is being prepared to trundle up and down the wing.
Agreed, Bob. Really disrespectful and arrogant when the Prem sides don't give 100% vs non league opponents
Cynical, late foul by Connor Coady off a Chroely long throw. Deservedly booked for that
Conor Coady gets a yellow for a rash one; the Chorley crowd wanted red.
Dendoncker concedes a free kick
My Chorley half time team-take would have been heavily tilted to the disrespectful way that Wolves have phoned in this performance. If Chorley could just peg Wolves back and force penalties, that would be great.
Long free kick easily gathered by John Ruddy
Moutinho comes off - his wonder strike still separates these sides.
Neves on for him.
Triple Wolves change. Pedro Neto for Cutrone. Ruben Neves and Traore on as well.
Traore immediately endears himself to the Chorley bench there.
Agreed, Steve. Really disgraceful and unprofessional by Wolves. If the Gunners win at St. Mary's they would come to Victory Park in the Fifth Round
Now then - Chorley have a free kick from about 40 yards out. This is a big chance.
Corner from Tomlinson headed away by Hoover
I loved whoever that was on the Chorley bench laughing out loud at Commander Adama. That was peak banter.
Newby with a shot blocked by Ryan Ait-Nouro for another after some head tennis
Corner from Tomlinson cleared
One of these corners has to go in!
That was classic. They need to wind up some more of these Wolves players
I'm guessing that the Wolves fancy dans took one look at the dressing room facilities at Chorley and said, "this is not correct."
They should have practiced some incendiary Portuguese.
Here are the triple changes:
Pedro Neto for Cutrone
Traore for Vitinha
Ruben Neves for Joao Moutinho
Abel Xavier's finest moment.
Wolves needs to learn how the other lives.
Wolves just knocking it about in midfield now, trying to wind down the clock.
I can teach them how to insult and swear in Spanish , which should work as I think Spanish is a second language in Portugal
The announcer complaining about the condition of the pitch. Top flight pitches in the 70s were in far worse condition than the Chorely pitch today
I wish Abel had been captured saying that. I'd have had that as a ring-tone or text alert in a flash.
I reckon that Chorley's pitch is better than half the grounds we watched football being played on in the '70s.
Wolves is Spurs in disguise
LOL, Steve. Nice idea with the ring alert
Wolves corner made it halfway back to Manchester
Chorely have knocked out Posh and a the Rams under 23s
That would be a cracker, Steve.
Hornets two up at the Potters and now third in the Championship, behind the Swans on goal difference
Chorley are down to ten minutes to rescue their FA Cup campaign. Bringing on a US-born Welsh international who was a ManYoo Academy kid. Let's be having ya!
Fabio Silva reminds me a golden retriever puppy. He's all gangly legs and arms flopping about.
Birch fouls Ait-Nouri , who looks like he was barely touched and the overreaction results in a booking for Birch
I haven't been impressed with Fabio silva. Not sure what all the fuss is about
Classic story with the U.S. born Welsh international, born in Tennessee
Long range shot from Pedro Neto well wide and halfway to Wrexham
Max Kilman down for Wolves. Sad when A Prem side has to resort to time wasting against a non league side
Potters pull it back to 1-2 vs the Hornets
Into stoppage time
Chorley are going to need a hit and a hope now. Sad.
Full-time - Chorley can hold their heads up high. They put on a passionate show against Wolves, but in the end they've succumbed to that one bit of quality from Moutinho.
It's over as Wolves escape with a 0-1 victory and were anything but convincing
I'll be around early for the Arsenal match tomorrow morning. Looking forward to seeing you then.
Cheerio, boys!
ah well, so much for romance. Back in the morning chaps.
Agreed, Bob. The winners of the early match tomorrow will surely be favorites at Molineaux in the Fifth Round
Cheers everyone. Great chatting and look forward to chatting early tomorrow morning.
CHEERS!
