A Bit of the Cup and a Bit of the Prem
Morning, chaps - it's another day of scattered FA Cup Quarterfinals and Premier League matches today. At least there are some decent matches on hand. It starts with the slow burn of Chelsea v. Sheffield United, which is in the first half now. Then we've got a London Derby in the Prem between West Ham and Arsenal. The best match of the day is at 1pm EST with Leicester v. United in the Cup. We wrap up with a late one between Villa and Spurs. I'll be grading during the first one this morning but will join you for the West Ham v. Arsenal and the big Cup match.

Morning Boys,
I watched a bit of the Old Firm clash that ended 1-1 at Parkhead. Rangers 5 games from an undefeated season.
Their only loses of the season so far is a League Cup match at St Mirren and this week's home defeat in the EL
I have the Chelsea match on my telly on Plus
I will have the London derby on the computer....it is live on 5Live but I will have to turn that off because it will be so far ahed of the COCK
Plus was seconds behind 5Live...The COCK is MINUTES!
The Line Ups at the London Stadium(should still be called the Olympic Stadium)
Arsenal: Leno, Mari, Luiz, Chambers, Tierney, Partey, Xhaka, Saka, Odegaard, Lacazette, Aubameyang.
Subs: Ryan, Gabriel, Ceballos, Holding, Soares, Pepe, Elneny, Smith rowe, Martinelli.
West Ham XI: Fabianksi, Coufal, Dawson, Diop, Cresswell, Rice, Soucek, Benrahma, Lingard, Bowen, Antonio.
Subs: Martin, Trott, Balbuena, Lanzini, Alves Ibsen, Noble, Fredericks, Johnson, Odubeko.
At least NBC has put the late match from Villa Park on the telly!!
Why would they not show the first one.... Autosales!!!!
The Blades started the match quite well but a Chillwell was knocked into his own net by Norwood
Coming up to half time at the Blues leading 1-0
Modern Day game
Good morning Bob and Dave. Have been watching the Cup tie. A deserved Chelsea lead , but a really boring match
Morning, guys - glad to have you on board this morning. It does seem as if Chelsea are grinding out a typical Tommy Tuchel 1-0 win thanks to an Oliver Norwood o.g. Boring. I'm glad I decided to sleep in and have a relaxing Sunday morning routine instead.
Given the scarcity of the Prem matches this weekend, you would think that NBC would put all of them on the channel rather than on the Cock. Shameful.
OH! Free header for David McGOAL RICK in the six yard box and headed wide off a great cross from John Lundstram
Teams coming out at the London Stadium now.
Agreed, Bob. Really ridiculous that the only televised match is the least important of the two matches. Greedy NBC concerned about making money than quality
Kepa does well to turn around an Evil Blades shot from the D
Hey Guys
Blades should have equalized TWICE...one was a SITTER!
I have to rush to the store
Zouma does well top stretch out and clear a long ball intended for Bogle for an Evil Blades corner
The reason the Evil Blades didn't tie it up was that the wrong David had the free header. The one in ENY would have tied it up
And we're away at the London Stadium. Lots at stake in this one, especially with regard to European spots.
How is this for a stat? The only home goal in this year's Cup quarters has been an OG
I'm thinking of switching to the Prem match even though I'm not Cock a Hoop about it
A winger for a striker as Olly on for Olly . Burke for Mc BURRR Knee
Early corner chance for the Hammers. The Gunners will have to be careful with these - the Hammers can be lethal from these with Soucek and Dawson the obvious targets.
Interesting stat, David. I gave up on that Cup match before it started!
I'm switching over, mate
OH! David Mc GOAL RICK gets past Azpi then his pass is pushed away by the Kepa at full stretch then hoofed away
An attacking switch for the Evil Blades as Rhian Brewster on for the OG scorer
All West Ham possession so far - unusual for them. They usually sit back and wait for chances from set pieces.
I switched over to the match at the London Stadium. Evil Blades unlucky not to be level at SB
GOAL! Jesse Lingard again! He's in white-hot form these days!
1-0 Hammers!
GOAL !!! WHAT A CRACKING FIN ISH BY LINDY ! ANTONIO WENT ON A RUN DOWN THE LEFT INTO THE BOX OFF A ONE TWO THEN LAID IT OFF FOR THE CRACKING LINDY FINISH IN THE UPPER 90 FOR A HAMMERS LEAD
Is Lindy playing his way back into England reckoning? On this form, Gareth must be watching.
goal !!! hammers two up as jarred bopwen scores off a quick free kick while the gunners were asleep on the play
Oh my! It's 1-0 Hammers. Took advantage of a quick free kick while the Arsenal defenders were napping and Bowen squeezed a shot under Leno at the near post.
It wasn't a great Saka play as Antonio was fouled a foot outside the box. Gunners fell asleep off the quick free kick and Jay Leno was beaten too easily at the near post by Jarred Bowen
To answer your question, I think Lindy was picked for the England squad for the March matches
More action in the past couple of minutes of this match than an hour and a half of the cup match at SB
Hammers need seven more goals to move into fourth place ahead of Chelsea
Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners vs the Evil Blades with the late goal from Ziyech, assisted by Cilly, so Chilly in a manner of speaking had a hand in both goals. SO far the favored team has advanced to the semis in the three cup ties that have been played
That means that the score in the cup tie has already been matched
Typical Tuchel win there. He seems to have the same game plan as Mourinho. Chelsea obviously have a well-marshalled defense to rely on and can just bide their time until they nick and goal and then shut up shop and maybe score one on the break late on. Really boring.
Arsenal haven't got going here.
Johnno will be delighted, but Steve must be furious
Agreed about Tuchel. Not need to be defensive against the bottom team in the Prem
GOAL !!! ANTONIO HEADS IN A CROSS FROM COUFAL WITH A FREE HEADER TO PUT THE HAMMERS THREE UP
Blimey! It's 3-0 as Antonio heads home a third goal. He didn't even celebrate there - is he a former Gunner?
Some suspicion of a touch by Soucek there. Could be his goal in the end, cheeky bugger.
VAR checked for offside on Soucek as he was in an offside position. The header from Antonio may have taken a nick off of him. The goal stands
Leeds the only away team to score in the Prem this weekend. You will like that stat
Just got back from the store...WOW!!
Arsenal get a goal back!!!!
I knew it before I saw it!!!!
GOAL !!! I MISSED IT ,. BUT I THINK THE GUNNERS SCORED A GOAL, OR AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT I READ IN LA CAZETTE
GOAL! The headline in your favorite French publication indicates that Arsenal are bang back in this one. 3-1!
What a derby match! Dave will be irked that he's missing it.
Welcome back, Dave. This is turning out to be a cracking match
I've tuned in AFTV to see them complaining!!
Could be an go from Soucek
Saka almost in for an Arsenal second
I read that it was a lengthy Gunners possession. The ball was played wide right to Cally Chambers and his cross was controlled with the thigh then well volleyed first time and went past Flappy thanks to the help of a deflection
While I was reading La Cazette they stated that the goal will be awarded to the French striker because the deflection didn't change the fact that the shot was still no target. Not sure if the dubious goals panel will agree.
The only away Prem goals scored this slate of Prem matches have been by Dahlgren brothers teams
I think the shot was off target
Naughty by Soucek on Antonio , but only a lecture by Jon because a rolling stone doesn't gather moss
In that case it would be an OG by Soucek. Won't be a happy chappy because he wasn't given credit for the third Hammers goal, but good thing as it would have been disallowed for offside
A pair of stoppage time minutes
OH! ping pong in the Hammers box then a Saka shot was deflected just wide for a corner off of Declan Rice
Oh - nearly another back for the Gunners - Saka just a whisker wide of the post.
Corner from Odor Guard cleared and the Hammers lead 3-1 at the half
HT
3-1...Arsenal could still get back into this
It is an OG
Still got AFTV on...I will pause it and try to sync it with the COCK
Welcome back, Dave - second half starting up now.
Off the line from a Gazette lob
He was pulled back.... will VAR look at it
West Ham are being pegged back
Sides for the King Power match has been announced
Good start by Arsenal in this half. This is a worthy derby match for once.
No Bruno
Back from walkies with Sparky and read ion the French periodical that a shot went straight to Flappy
YIKES! I hope OGS is taking the match at the KP seriously. I hate when he gets overconfident in certain matches. It seems to spread to the players
Free kick from Odor Guard scooped high and wide by Sideshow Bob
The United Line up
Henderson
Telles, Maguire, Lindeloff, ObiWan
Matic, Fred
DeBeek, Pogba, Greenwood
Martial
West Ham wants advantage.....they were in
Ridiculous that Jon Moss didn't play the advantage Chambers called for a foul on Antonio, but Lindy through
Moyes is annoyed with the ref...he shouldn't have blown up
Is it Partey time for the Hammers. He clears for a Hammers corner
Foxes line up
Schmeichel
Soyuncu, Even, Fofana
Castagne, Tillamans, Ndidi, Albrighton
Perez
Vardy, Iheanancho
Poor corner from, Cresswell cleared by the first man
I want to win the DAMN Cup!!
I want to win SOMETHING!!
Don't like United's lineup. There are far better choices than the lone striker United is starting. Foxes lineup ,ore attack minded with three out and out strikers
Coufal called for obstruction on Aubama just outside the box. It was a foul, but Aubama didn't need to fall so dramatically
If West Ham hold on to win, they will equal on points with Chelsea but down 5 in the GD column. They will be 5 points ahead of Liverpool with the same number of games and same GD. Pool have scored more tho
GOAL! Arsenal are back! Dawson sticking it into his own net under pressure from a great cross by Chambers!
3-2!
GOAL!! COMEBACK ON? AN OG BY CRAQIG DAWSON PULLS IT BACK TO 3-2. ODOR GUARD PLAYED IT WIDE WIRIGHT TO CALLY CHAMBERS AND HIS POWERFUL PASS WAS DIVERTED IN FOR AN OG BY CRAIG DAWSON TO PULL IT BACK TO 3-2
Brilliant OG!!!
Two games in a row for him with an OG
TWO OGs in this game!!
Strong United line-up for the match - what do you lot think?
Arsenal could win this!!
Not that much of a strong line up
It's a decent United lineup , but definitely not a full strength lineup
Agreed, Dave. Plenty of time for the Gunners to win this
Hammers have blown this
What do you think about Areta? So many people are calling him a genius! I think they are calling him that because he's Spanish and worked with Pep....sorry BLOODY Pep
All AFTV guys want is every Hammer to get a yellow with every tackle
Oh - Antonio nearly in there! Great block in the end. This match is crackling!
Great saving tackle by Tierney
I think that Arsenal can do a lot better than Arteta. Arsenal are an average side and I can't believe that Arsenal fans are content with that.
also got the block....without knowing it
I agree.... but everyone says he's a genius!
I hate how he talks like Bloody Pep
"the process"
"play my way"
A couple of chances for the Gunners...blocked
Great cross....NO ONE THERE!
Why aren't players busting a gut running in the box!
Creswell beats Arteta!!
This will be a HAMMER blow for the Hammers if they don't win this
Michael Devlin: Don’t understand this second rate United lineup. Doesn’t Ole want to win something? The league is gone. Why not take a run at the FA Cup?
Francesca Gunn: Seriously not playing Bruno!!! Switch Fred or matic out for him, pogba works off Bruno and vice versa
More problematic for Arsenal is that they have average players. Look at their center forwards. If you want to have a chance of winning things, you need to have a striker (or two) capable of scoring 20 goals plus. Aubameyang and Lacazette aren't. They have a proven record of scoring around 10-15 goals a season - that's not good enough. Sure, if Arteta were a better manager, he might be able to squeeze another couple of goals out of them, but you can't get blood from a rock, as they say.
I don't agree with resting ANYONE!!
Mark Noble on for Jarred Bowen to presumably gain control of the while Smith-Rowe on for Xakha Khan and Pepe on for a great Saka player
Struth....How did Arsenal survive that!!
Agreed, Dave. Why the need to rest players. There's an international break coming up. Internationals or not the best players need to be playing. That's United's best chance of winning something
Partey with a shot..... Twickenham would have liked that effort!
I think Partey has got too much hype
OH! Off the inside of the post from Antonio. How did that not go in?
HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN!!
Did Antonio miss from three inches!!
Are you Harry Maguire in disguise ?
That being "Said", a nice run and pass from Benhrama
LOL, nice one , Dave
Agreed about Arteta , Bob. I know he was kept on because he's supposedly in the midst of rebuilding side which needed to be done, but there's been little to no progress. Wonder what Steve thinks.
Davey Moyes shutting up shop as Ryan Fredricks on for what Dreary Said is Benhrama coming off
Again, ask the media..... a GENIUS
Decent run from Lingard.... comes from nothing
Martinelli on for PEA
The final roll of the dice from Arteta as Martinelli on for Aubama. Why bring off a striker when you're trailing late in the match
THREE THREE!!
PEA didn't come off!
GOAL !!! I MISSED IT. SECONDS LATER THE GUNNERS TIE IT UP TO M,AKE IT 3-3
PEA did come off but was celebrating with the team because he went off at the end line
THJE HEADLINE IN LA CAZETTE STATES IN LARGE PRINT NON OG! NICE RUN AND PASS FROM ODOR GUARD AND PLAYED IT WIDE RIGHT TO PEPE AND I READ THAT HIS CROSS WAS POWERFULLY HEADED IN AT THE FAR POST MAS THE GUNNERS HAVE COME FROM THREE DOWN TO MAKE IT 3-3
The media will definitely be calling him a genius after this comeback. Even more so if the Gunners win this
Is it a North London hoodoo for the Hammers. Second three goal lead of the season blown against a North London club
Great run from Rice.... saved
Didn't the Hammes come back from three down to Spurs
OH! I thought the Hammers had regained the lead. Long solo run by Declan Rice then his shot beaten away by Jay Leno
The Hammers look knackered!
OOPS! That's right. I knew both matches were blown three goal leads , but this negates the comeback for the Hammers vs Spurs. You're correct
Antonio booked for a lunge on Sideshow Bob
Cresswell talks himself into the book
Free kick chance for the Gunners
wasted
Free kick from Odor Guard just to high for Sideshow Bob to head in. It was the right idea
Into 3 added minutes
Into stoppage time . An LOB blogging trio of those minutes
Two attacking teams will not be awarded for that because they will have each dropped a pair of points if this finishes 3-3
Arteta should get a lot of credit for this comeback....what about falling behind by 3 inside half an hour
Good score for Liverpool
I was reading La Cazette and read about a booking for a lunge on Ryan Fredricks
Now the Hammers have a free kick chance...punched clear
That is it
Ends 3-3
An thrilling London Derby finishes 3-3 as the Gunners come from three down as it finished 3-3
Now on to Plus.....they aren't minutes behind!
Oh dear.... TT in the studio.....he never stops yapping
Here come the Foxes out of the tunnel...United coming out after
Very pleased United wearing RED!!!
They did change their socks from black to white....not sure that was necessary
Now time for the supposed Cup tie of the round as the Foxes host United. I think the draw for the semis is at the half
I would have liked to seen Bruno and Pogba playing off each other again
Maybe Donny Van de Bench plays well
Agreed about United's kit. At least both teams are wearing their traditional kits other than the socks
Surely ESPN could do better than Adrian Healey and TT for the marquee match of the round. I will mute the match if TT gets too annoying
Of course, this is #2 vs #3 in the Premier League
#1 and #4 are already in the semi
So three of the top four will be in the semis
Hope VDB plays well. Bruno and Pogba worked well on Thursday in the second half. Glad Zlatan was on the losing side
They're off from the KP.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
United looking for semi final #31
United start on the front foot but have not got it in the box yet!!
TWO commentators are not needed
TT reading a novel after the first question....he didn't even stop talking as the Foxes go close!
Offside called
United trying to play the ball out.... Fox down after a tackle from Martial
Will VAR look
TT wants a card
Tielemans down off a karate chopped challenge that the ref says was legal, but TT wants a booking. TT needs to shut it
I'm just settling in after a bite of lunch for the big match. Is that Double T on the color commentary? Why?!
So United have been in 30 Semis before today
They have played in 20 Finals....only a 67% winning record in Semis..... our record in the 60s hurt us there. Lost quite a few... especially to Leeds!!
United did win all their semis up to an Everton one in 09?
How did Martial make the French squad? He's been pants this season
Martial got the ball there....TURN and take space!!!
Welcome back, Bob. The two Dave's have the same question as you about TT
Those semi losses in the 60 are a repressed memory
I said Adrian Healey is partnering TT. I think it might be Jon Champion, who announced the match at Goodison yesterday
1962 Lost to Spurs
1964 Lost to West Ham
1965 Lost to Leeds
1966 Lost to Everton
1970 Lost to Leeds
Yeah - it sounds like Jon Champion. The ESPN routine appears to be to have the same commentary partnership do the pre- and post-show and half-time chat. Are they on an austerity program?
United karate chops their way to a corner off of Soyuncu
Former Fox , Harry Maguire heads the corner straight to Kasper
What's with the drumming in the stadium? Have they let a drum corps into Filbert Street today?
The other 5 Semi losses
1926 Man City
1949 Wolves
2009 Everton
2011 Man City
2020 Chelsea
OGS seems to be doping his level best to add to those list of semi losses.
Come on United..... create some chances!!!!
United didn't even score in those last three semi losses. Not fond memories of those
With the Hammers dropping two points today, United are 8 points ahead of them for the top four
TT.... STOP TALKING SO MUCH!
We didn't tune in to listen to you
Oh.... the draw is at half time
Champ mentioned about the draw being at the half. I wrote that comment ten minutes ago
That was a good result for you lot today.
Horrible clearance by United....Henderson saves the shot
It all came from losing possession in the midfield!!
COME ON!!
Nice save by Dean Henderson from Vardy.Fred cheaply conceded possession then poor clearance from Maguire
If United get knocked out here, I will be wanting Leicester to win the whole thing
They have been in quite a few Finals but never won it
Of course, they will be out today!
I was happy with the result, but would have preferred a Gunners win. Can't complain as the Hammers were three up until shortly before the half
Leicester were 3 on 1.... there seemed no excitement in the studio!!!
I don't know if Leicester are really doing anything to threaten United. You wouldn't know that they're the home side. I hate them.
Come on United..... start attacking!!!
DVD.... DO SOMETHING
I don't
TT thinks he's the most knowledgeable person in the history of footie.
Every time TT talks.... he goes on for TEN MINUTES
I hate Citeh more than the Foxes. Don't mind them sitting back this match, but United need to pick up the pace
Every game United play.... is the same
They just sit back and expect the opponents to break them down. Really boring.
I don't hate City because they are winning... I hate the way the play so much.... and that they get so much love from everyone
Albrighton wins a corner off of Harry Maguire after a poor challenge from Telles
