Monday Night Footie Special!
It's been ten long days since my beloved Leeds United had a run out in the Premier League. The boys will be looking to bounce back from the narrow defeat at the hands of Aston Villa as we travel to the capital to meet West Ham. While my patented rubric suggests that we should be playing for a draw today, the reality of the matter is that, with 35 points, we're essentially safe this season. So, with the pressure off, we can go out at the City of London Stadium tonight and express ourselves a bit. Some of our long-standing injured players such as Rodrigo should be back in the fold, so I'm hopeful. It's a busy day for me; I've got a boring meeting coming up at 2pm but will be joining in shortly after for as long as I can before my 4:30 class. Come on, you Leeds! #MOT!

Good Afternoon, Bob. Here to support you on Leeds's trip to the London Stadium
Chelsea has just gone two up vs the Toffees thanks to a penalty from Jorginho . He scored sending Pickford the wrong way with that moronic stutter step
Kai Havertz having one of his better matches for Chelsea, being responsible for both goals and having one disallowed for hand ball. The first goal , his pass was diverted in for an OG by Ben Godfrey. The second he was tripped by Pickford and Jorginho scored from the spot
An attacking switch for the Toffees .A striker for a midfield player as Josh King on for Siggy
Afternoon, David - thanks for joining me today. Hope your week is starting well.
Teams news out of Upton Park tonight:

Subs: Balbuena, Lanzini, Noble, Bowen, Martin, Johnson, Trott, Odubeko.

The Peacock coverage has still not started. Grrrr!
Nice minute of applause for Glenn Roeder and we're set to go now.
Come on, you Leeds!
Patrick is hacked early on as he tried to link up the play and we have an early free kick.
Nice! Helder wins us an early corner. Good, bright start from us.
We're dominating possession already. It's as if we're playing at home.
Oh - Helder burst through into a great position but then blazed over. Should have worked Flappy at the very least.
Shame. Tyler Roberts slams home from Helder's cross. Flagged offside.
VAR check now.
Too bad - the goal doesn't count.
And now another disallowed! Raphinha dragged one back and Patrick netted. VAR feels that the ball went out. So, somehow we're still at 0-0.
Raphinha was away again and put a great ball in. Patrick's shot was deflected into Flappy's arms.
God afternoon, Bob. Just back from picking up Elizabeth from grocery shopping. Fairly good start to the week. How about you?
COME ON LEEDS! HAMMER THE HOME TEAM! MOT!
Chelsea defeated the Toffees 2-0 and remain fourth, but have now opened up a four point gap between themselves and the Hammers and Toffees. Chelsea also four points behind second placed United
Leeds will be behind the Gunners on goal difference if they win at the Hammers. Eight is enough to overtake the Gunners
First real moment of danger for us. Antonio floats a cross toward the backpost and Soucek is there but can't really get a decent head on it.
Welcome back, David - glad to have you on board. It's been a bright start from us and we should be 0-1 up.
Bugger! Mike Dean has given the Hammers a penalty. No contact at all. Should go to a VAR check.
BUGGER! THE DEAN OF OFFICIALS CALLS AN AYLING CHALLENGE ON LINDY A PENALTY TO THE HAMMERS
BUGGER1 MESLIER SAVES THE PENALTY FROM LINDY THEN HE PUTS AWAY THE REBOUND . SORRY, BOB
Sorry, Bob. That's unlucky for Leeds as the Hammers had done nothing to the penalty decision
Grrr! Meslier saves the first attempt but Lindy is able to net the rebound. We're 1-0 down.
Lingard should have been yellow carded for that flop.
Thanks, Bob. Glad to be back . Sorry I didn't bring Leeds better luck
I think there was slight contact looking at the replay , but a horrible flop from Lindy
Come on, boys - let's get it back.
So far, two penalties and an OG today. No goals from open play
Nice interplay there on the left but Raphinha couldn't quite find Patrick.
Coop fouls Antonio now and the Hammers have a dangerous free kick chance.
Mini Cooper called for driving down Antonio just outside the box, albeit at the speed one would drive in a school zone
Oh - Cresswell's shot was deflected and it could have gone anywhere. Corner.
Cresswell takes a wicked , but Ayling deflection for a corner
Bugger! Another set piece goal conceded. Great ball in from Cresswell and Soucek nodded home unattended.
2-0
BUGGER! CRAIG DAWSON HEADS IN THE CORNER FROM CRESSWELL AT THE FAR POST, COMPLETELY WIDE OPEN . SORRY, BOB
Thanks, David - we need to get one back by half-time.
Benrahma bursts through but shanks his shot well over.
Now it's Lindy with a speculative effort. We're looking like our heads are down.
Decent crack from Benrahma there that Meslier turned around the post.
Mark 'em up this time!
Meslier does well to push around a long range shot from Benhrama off a one two with Antonio
Nasty one there by Dawson on Patrick and we've got a free kick.
Raphinha is over this one - come on!
Benrahma earns another corner. Mark 'em up!
Fornals wins a Hammers corner off a run and pass from Benhrama
Good catch by Meslier this time.
Silly sod Soucek runs into the post there.
Melsier catches the corner from Cresswell then play stops as Soucek is down after colliding with the post
Play resumes
An LOB blogging duo of stoppage time minutes
Hammers win another corner
Two minutes of stoppage time now and the Hammers have another corner.
Oh - off the post! Really close call. We need to stop giving away corners, that's for sure.
OH! Close range volley from the corner off the post then cleared away
Hammers two up at the half thanks top a couple of individual errors, not due to being the dominant team
The half time whistle goes and I'm not at all pleased with that. We should really be at 1-1. Instead we're 2-0 down after a dodgy VAR call and a deliberate dive for a penalty from Lingard. Time for a rethink from the boss.
I'm about to head down to the classroom to set up my class for tonight. Hope the boys can do the business in my absence.
Back for the second half and Leeds needs an early goal
OH! Just wide by Bamford wioth just Flappy to beat off a NICE LONG BALL FROM lLORENTE
Bielsa with a double substitution Jack Harrison for Helder Costa and Ali for Klich. Both pretty much like for like, but Bielsa sending the message that he's not happy with what he saw
Enjoy the class, Bob. Sorry you won't be around, but hope Leeds do well in the second half
OH ! Flappy does well to tip over a bicycle kick from Raphinha off a cross that was headed away
Hammers counter off the corner, but Leeds did well to backtrack and recover
Now the Hammers have a corner
OH! Shot from Fornals from 35 yards out crashes off the bar after the corner was headed away . Then the whistle blows
Benhrama goes on a solo run and a curling shot from 25 yards out is a couple of yards wide
Cresswell heads out a curling cross for a Leeds corner
An hour gone and the final roll of the dice from Bielsa as Rodrigo is on for Tyler Roberts
Kal Phillips fouls Benhrama just outside the box
OH! Creswell takes and it's headed away then Declan Rice has a close range shot blocked then his follow up is deflected just wide for a corner
Raphinha with a powerful shot straight to Flappy but fumbled due to the sheer power than gathered
Rodrigo with a long range shot deflected for a corner
Cresswell heads out the corner for another
Ayling wins a corner off of Cresswell off a shot from Harrison that was blocked
Hammers counter off the Leeds corner as they blocked two shots prior to the counter
Like for like as Jarred Bowen is on for Benhrama
Llorente stupidly fouls Soucek about a foot outside the box
Free kick taken short and Declan Rice drags a shot well wide
OH! Bamford is wide open and shoots well over from just outside the six yard box from a pass from Raphinha that came off a shot originally scuffed by Bamford
Martin Tyler just stated that the Hammers last did a top flight double vs Leeds in 1930
OH! Close range Leeds volleyed cleared off the line by Craig Dawson . Would have been an OG by Coufal off a volleyed Ayling cross
Ben Johnson on for Lindy , leaving Davie Moyes wit a single roll of the die
Into stoppage time. A trio of those minutes
Raphinha wins a late corner off of Cresswell
It's over and despite it being a fairly even match the Hammers won 2-0 thanks to the two first half goals. One was a rebound from a penalty and the other a header from a corner. Sorry, Bob.
Both matches today were played in the capital and both won 2-0 by the home team. None of those goals were scored from open play. The goals were an OG, a penalty, a rebound from a penalty , and a header off a corner. I guess the OG counts as the goal from open play
That's it for me. I won't be around tomorrow, but probably will be on Wednesday. Enjoy the rest of the day.
CHEERS!
