MY MATCH..... and a few others as well

 Good Morning Boys,

Here is the moment of kick off from last season's Boxing Day clash... we have the same match today. I would love the same score line please!!! Earlier today the Hammers cemented their CL spot with a 2-1 win vs struggling Spurs. Leicester are doing the same as I type as they are already two-nil up at Villa Park. The two late games see Red Hot City visiting the Emirates(COME ON YOU GUNNERS!) and then the last match of the day is "MY MATCH"

Join me,

UWS

We are all stuck on the Cock today.... poor form! If it was actually live and not over a minute behind the times, I would be okay with it! I hear my phone buzz and wonder what I am going to see!!

Foxes still two up against the Villans with around ten minutes to go until the break

Morning, Dave - thanks for getting us going today. Great image!

I had a bit of a lie-in after a late night with the missus. I'm only really interested in the late matches. I'll be there for the Arsenal v. Citeh.

As I type, the top of the table looks like this
City 56... still to play
Leicester 49.... still playing
United 46.....still to play
West Ham 45
Chelsea 43
Liverpool 40
Everton 40
Spurs 36
Villa 36...still playing
Arsenal 34...still to play

Morning Bob

I wanted to sleep in but woke up early!
I have been watching these matches but as you say...the late ones are the important wins

Newcasle only three points out of the drop zone...hope they don't wake up today!!

Leicester are one goal behind United... Don't want them to score many more in the second half

Will Liverpool make the top four?
They have lost FOUR straight games in the league!
They have lost FOUR straight games at home
Their top three haven't scored a goal at Anfield from open play since November
Liverpool beat Palace 7-0 at Selhurst Park... since then
WBA h 1-1
New a 0-0
Soton a 0-1
Utd h 0-0
Burn H 0-1
Spurs a 3-1
WH a 3-1
Bright h 0-1
City h 1-4
Leic a 1-3
Ever h 0-2

Not exactly a great title defense! Who has had the worst title defense
Leeds could be one of the worst! Ripped off my lot in 92...couldn't win away in 93...finishing 17th...TWO points from the drop zone!

Traore had the right to go for that

Another Villa goal or two would help out my lot

Good Morning, Dave. Thanks for getting us started. I've seen all the goals except the Villa goal because I needed to take Sparky walkies

I think the worst title defense was Citeh in the 1930s. They were relegated the season after they won the title. I think they're the only team to win a top flight title and be relegated the following season

10:24 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree that 4-1 would be a great result. I think United won by that score at SJP earlier this season. Sad not to see any fans like the day you went.

Morning David

Didn't Ipswich get relegated in relegated in 63 after wining the title in 62....I'm going to look it up

10:25 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

They finished ROCK BOTTOM!!!

10:26 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Vardy should have scored . Nice through ball from Harvey Barnes and Vardy shot it well wide ,albeit from a narrow angle

The Fourth President off injured and a defensive switch as he's replaced by a water carrier, Mendy

10:28 AM

The Tractor Boys were similar to Leeds in 1993. They were relegated a couple of years after winning the title, not the following season

10:29 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

No they didn't... the table I saw was probably the next season
Ipswich matched Leeds finish of 17th

10:29 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Morning, Dave. We need to thrash the Toon and not feel sympathy for Brucie just because he's a United legend. Not our problem if his Toon is being sucked into a relegation battle

10:30 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Like for like as El Gazi is on for Trezeguet

10:30 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was similar to Leeds.

10:31 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Everyone said how the Foxes were the worst at defending their title. They were well above 17th, safe in mid table

10:32 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Barca held 1-1 at the Nou Camp by lowly Cadiz. I'm surprised Fat Ronny is still around. Eight points off first and humiliated at home by PSG in the CL

10:34 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Rangers takes the lead against the Scottish Tangerines

10:35 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

If that result holds then the Gers would need three wins and a draw to clinch the SPL , pending Celtic's result at rock bottom Ross County later today

10:37 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

In L2 Forest Green won 0-2 in a local derby of sorts. Forest now second , a point behind Cambridge with two games in hand. Not exactly the result we wanted

10:38 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Like for like as young Jacob Ramsey is on for Ross Barkley. Amarty on for Ricardo, which according to the announcer i s like for like as Amarty can play right back, but it's a defensive switch as the Brodge has decided to hold on the Foxes slender lead

10:40 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That cross from Matt found its Targett as Bernie Traore dove to head the equalizer, but just mistimed his header

Lovely cross in but Sterling was totally unmarked. You can't let a shorty like Sterling score a header like that.

0-1 Citeh.

11:52 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Thing that scares me about the late one.... everyone is writing of Newcastle today....United lose at home to the likes of Shef Utd and Palace, beat WBA by a pen and some thrashings!

11:52 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I sometimes wonder that Bob. That's why he hasn't made it with real as Ozil didn't so probably so

11:52 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree , Dave. I have been thinking the same as you

11:54 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Arsenal playing it around the back.... makes zero sense when so many City players around!!

These guys are already going gaga over City

11:54 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Toon actually have some decent players , who can give any team a tough game when they're in the mood

11:55 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

You were right about Fulham, though, Dave. I didn't expect them to pull out a win. Still going down.

11:56 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I wonder if we would be better off muting the match. These announcers are full of hot air

11:56 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Arsenal are coughing the ball up too easily in dangerous areas. They'll pay for it.

11:56 AM

In Spain, AM lost yesterday at home, RM won away. Today, Barca had 1-0 lead(Messi pen) at home to Cadiz....who leveled late with their only shot on goal
Table

RM 52 pld 24
Bar 47 pld 23

11:57 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cottagers only three points behind the Toon with a better goal difference. Too early and too close to call that final drop spot. Even the Seagulls and Burnley could go down

11:57 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I just think about the number of disappointing players - Pepe, Partey, Odegaard - that Arsenal have paid megabucks for, while their best players this season - Saka, Smith-Rowe - have been home-grown.

11:58 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wilson is out for the Toon for a while

Of course, last season Unite fell behind early! I was saying...surely not....coming all this way and watch them lose!!

11:58 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I looked at when the Toon's poor run started and it seems that the 5-2 thrashing at ER has been the turning point in their season

11:59 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

City have had 70 per cent of the possession.

You're welcome, Dave! ;-)

11:59 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Tierney straight at Ederson off a tackle by Holding on Gundogan

12:00 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I reckon that Fulham will keep it interesting but they'll likely need something like eight or nine wins to survive. I don't know where those will come from. They can't just play the Blades every weekend.

There will be weekends when Newcastle are playing West Brom and Fulham are playing Citeh.

12:01 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Decent hit from Tierrney.... of course Arlo has kittens when Ederson throws it out!
It has been done before!!! Schmeichel used to have a great throw!

As for last week's assist....what about compiling that it was Route 1 Football!! A kadoomph up the pitch....no... it's City....it's brilliant

12:01 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Citeh use that 70% really well while other teams do very little with it

12:02 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

For some reason, a City v West Ham match was on my Youtube page. It was from 1970.... I think there was a total of 5 blades of grass on the pitch.... complete mud!!

Hurst and Greaves each scored two in a Hammers 5-1 at Maine Road! I'd like to see these guys try and play on that

12:03 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Gundogan was in there but his touch let him down.

12:04 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

It is only 3 points Bob....AND they have a better GD

12:04 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

If the Toon lose at OT and the Cottagers win next weekend then they're out of the drop zone. They need one more win than the Toon the remainder of the season. On current form the Toon definitely have top be considered for the drop. Toon and Cottagers face each other on the final da and that may decide who goes down

12:04 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am rooting for Newcastle to stay up.... just not any points today

12:04 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree Dave. With thirteen matches remaining about four possible teams could go down. Stranger things have happened over the years

12:05 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree 100% about the Toon staying up. Well worded

12:05 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

In terms of Barca . Eight points out of first and embarrassed at home to PSG. How is Fat Ronny still in charge?

12:06 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I'm happy with the current crop in the dropzone getting relegated - two newly promoted sides and our biggest rival. Suits me just fine.

12:07 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree with the Baggies and the Evil Blades being toast, but the other one is up for grabs. That race may be more exciting than the title race

12:08 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That was a nasty tackle...he's a City player.... it wasn't card worthy

Arsenal take the free kick short so they can get tackled!

A FREE KICK means you can kick it FREE

12:09 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Tierney puts in a modern day cross... just pass it to a defender!

Why is this a lost art

12:10 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Citeh have noticeably taken their foot off the gas in the past half hour. I have the feeling that, should Arsenal equalize, they'd just got up a gear or two and score two more.

12:10 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

It'll definitely be more exciting than the title race, which is already over.

12:11 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I just checked Toon and Cottagers. Both have a really tough end of season schedule. Toon may have a slight edge. Last two matches are vs Evil Blades at SJP, who will probably already be relegated and at your place on the final day of the season. What will the hospitality be like for the visit of Brucie and Co?

12:13 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I don't think Arsenal have had a shot on goal all half. We at least frightened Citeh a bit at ER.

12:13 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Bale put in a brilliant cross for the Spurs goal today. Wish we would see more of that. Also for the Citeh goal even though Sterling was wide open

12:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Chance for Arsenal...useless by Bellerin

Half-time - a bit boring really. Citeh scored early and then sat back. Arsenal weren't good enough to trouble their defense.

12:18 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Of course, what about Palace, Burnley and Brighton... all not far off Newcastle

12:28 PM

12:48 PM

12:51 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I do think that the Premier League should put some kind of rule out for the kits
They should have teams be forced to wear their assigned color unless it clashes OR have teams wear away shirts away all the time

I hate how it is so inconsistent....well it is just like VAR... maybe we could call it KAR.... Kit Awareness Rights

We don't have much reserve in the fridge and freezer because the supply in stores ins practically nil. Hope that changes tomorrow or Tuesday

today is a must win game...no resting for the Chelsea match!

1:10 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

VDB is hurt apparently

1:10 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Rob about to be replaced by Bob the Sideshow as Citeh still "Holding" on. Arlo says that's a concussion substitution

1:10 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Holding is going to have to come off.

1:11 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Dave. We should have put out a more positive lineup vs the Toon.

1:11 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I guess there are injuries but having SIX defensive players on the pitch!!

1:11 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed. That's ridiculous against a struggling side at home

1:12 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

There is no reason not to start Greenwood over James

1:13 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Ceballos on for El Neny

1:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Last five minutes of the 90...come on Gunners!

1:14 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Unless Greenwood is injured that's overconfidence by OGS, which means OGS hasn't learned his lesson from the matches vs the Baggies and Evil Blades

1:15 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The Gazette has a chance to go forward toward a goal...he goes wide...comes to nothing

1:15 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Bellerin booked for a less than Sterling challenge

1:15 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Bellerin upends Gabby Jesus and picks up a yellow card.

1:15 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Greenwood is on the bench

1:16 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I would start Greenwood over Martial

Martial is awful in the middle

1:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That Citeh jersey looks like a pink shirt in a bubble bath., Really awful looking. Lee Dixon and Arlo of course going gaga over the jerseys

1:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed. The karate chopping needs to be confined to the subs bench. He needs to be shown the door at the end of the season

1:17 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Gabby Jesus breaks free but then blasts his shot well over the mark.

1:18 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Something happened to my link...had to restart it

1:18 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time minutes which is not music to our ears.,

1:18 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

If Martial leaves United, what happens to all of those karate puns, David?

1:19 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Got it back
Into added time

1:19 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

So far I'm fortunate that the link is still on. Time for lunch once this match ends

1:19 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Glorious time, Bob!

I've got a boatload of grading to attend to this afternoon, chaps, so I'll likely be in and out during at least the first half of the United match. But I'll be cheering on the Red Devils for sure. No love for Brucie.

1:20 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Time wasting by Ruben Dias , down claiming injury off a minimal challenge

1:20 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

STUPID foul by David Luis!!

1:20 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I'm sure there will be a replacement for Martial . Plenty of targets out there

1:21 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Hope you will be around for at least part of the match, Bob. The two Dave's can use your support

1:22 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

This looks to be yet another clean sheet for Ederson. No one will catch him for Golden Glove.

1:22 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's over and Citeh win a less than inspiring match 0-1

1:23 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That is it
City win by spending added time falling on the ground!

I'll be back for the Battle of Uniteds

1:24 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

That's it - all a bit boring. The only goal was scored in the second half.

1:26 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

second minute

1:28 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Yeah - sorry, that's what I meant. I always hate games like that. An early goal builds up your anticipation for a high-scoring game and then it all peters out. I blame Pep, of course. Boring boring manager.
