Leeds v. Greeds!
Leeds v. Liverpool is a legendary fixture in its own right, with a storied history that goes back decades. Yet, given the announcement of Liverpool's involvement in a breakaway European league, this one should have extra bite to it tonight. We shared a seven-goal thriller on the opening day of the season, so I'm hoping for an open match with loads of excitement and goals. Come on, you Whites! #MOT! Join me for all the thrills and spills, won't you?

Afternoon, chaps - this match is beginning to be upstaged by the drama of the European breakaway league. Jurgen Klopp has made a statement that sounds as if he's ready to quit if this idea goes forward. Wow!
More from the Neviller: “I feel slightly complicit. I’ve stayed pretty quiet in terms of the Glazer family over the years. I stayed pretty quiet because I thought when the club became a plc, you knew it could be bought. I believe in free market, generally in life, and I’ve always thought: what’s the answers to the Glazers? Who takes them out: Russia, China, state money?
“I’ve stayed quiet on the basis that it’s still Manchester United, I can still watch the lads play, I can still be happy and sad. If they take dividends out, I can live with it slightly. But what I can’t live with is them attacking every football fan in this country. They have stepped over the mark. They are scavengers. They need booting out of this football club and they need booting out of this country.”
The Leeds squad for tonight's match:
Meslier; Ayling, Llorente, Struijk, Alioski; Phillips; Costa, Dallas, Roberts, Harrison; Bamford.
Substitutes: Casilla, Koch, Berardi, Davis, Hernandez, Klich, Shackleton, Poveda-Ocampo, Gelhardt.
Don't care about the other greedy lot.
Leeds players are warming up in shirts that read "Football is for the fans" on the back" and "Earn it!" on the front. Well done!
Good Afternoon, Bob. Back from a ham sandwich with Bavarian hot mustard
COME ON LEEDS, MOT! BEAT GREEDS
Well stated, Klopp, Neviller and LUFC
Afternoon Boys
I'll be for a half
Come on you WHITES
I did like what Klopp said but I didn't like the t-shirt comment.
Afternoon, David - I'll all pumped up for this one, despite watching it from the office. I'll have to duck out around 4pm or so to set up by class, but I'll enjoy the first half at least.
Hiya, Dave - great to have you on board for the first half at least.
MOT!!!
There was a seven goal thriller twenty years when Viduka was on the Mark, scoring all four Leeds goals in a 4-3 win
Who knows if it matters that Liverpool get into the top four!!
Off we go
They're off from ER,.
CONE ON LEEDS! BEAT GREEDS
Good Afternoon, Dave
Come on, you Whites!!!
Agreed, Dave. Foxes should be Prem winners for the second time in their history and Fa Cup winners for the first time , giving them an unlikely double
England's squad left after the SIX players are out of the 26 named for the last matches
Johnstone, Pope
Coady, Mings
Bellingham, Phillips, Rice, JWP
DCL, Watkins
Firmino nearly through there but Meslier did well to mop up.
Bob will be wondering if the Evil Blades will escape relegation after the meeting of the remaining fourteen clubs tomorrow
Liverpool trying the high press from the off. Let's see if they can match out fitness.
Thiago with a decent hit...tipped over
That leaves space for plenty of Leeds , Hammers , and Foxes players for the WC squad
I'm hoping that they relegate them to the Northern League!
Well tipped over by Meslier from Thiago
Could Meslier be starting for France this Summer?
Oh - Thiago will a ripper from distance after we cough up the ball. Meslier tips over. Corner.
Nice quick break but Tyler shanks the cross out.
Arriola probably starting with Meslier as second choice?
Great defending by Ayling . He could be starting for the Three lions this Summer
This reminds me of the first fifteen minutes in the season opener where we were really under the cosh.
Premier League without the Big Six involved at all
1. West Ham 49 pts
2. Leicester 40
3. Leeds 39
4. Villa 34
5. Everton 34
6. Palace 32
7. Newcastle 32
8. Southampton 30
9. Wolves 30
10. Brighton 26
11. Burnley 26
12. Fulham 21
13. West Brom 17
14. Sheff Utd 11
Furious pace to the match right now. Loving it!
Well done , Dave. Hammers vs Foxes in the Charity Shield. Bob and Johnno will be delighted to see their teams in the CL.
Will some one be on the MARK like Viduka was twenty years ago in that 4-3 thriller?
OH! Great free kick from Jack Harrison, but shanked wide by Bamford, who will want to do better to enhance his chances of playing in the Euros
I think the bottom three should be relegated from the Prem with the top five in the Championship being promoted and sixth through ninth making the playoffs
Great tackle by Gjanni there as Jota threatened.
I can't really wrap my head around any of the implications of the breakaway league and I hope that it gets squashed quick and proper.
Nice move there through Helder but Bamford couldn't quite turn and shoot.
Agreed, Bob. We all want that to happen for the good of the game
A little curler from Bobby Chompers - easily dealt with by Meslier.
Jota turns and Well blocked by Kal for a Pool corner
Jota threatened again and Kal and Llorente had to rescue it.
Corner cleared then hand ball called on Mane
ooh....almost an go there for Leeds
Kabak clears a cross from Harrison for a Leeds corner on the counter
Oh - dangerous cross there by Jack and it's hacked away for a corner. Come on!
Jurgen not Klopping the Pool performance
Klopp bucketing it
Klopp sitting on a bucket like Bielsa . Is that a violation of copyright rights?
Le Sox thinks the buckets will be in shops....they already are!
We're riding our luck at the back for the moment. Liverpool looking dangerous.
Bugger... Bamford away.... blown!!
Modern day passing around at the back by Fab..... moronic
OH! Bamford should have taken advantage of a Pool gift and given Leeds the lead Shot blocked for a CORNER AS aLLISON RUSHED OUT
I think he was talking about Liverpool because Klopp is copying Bielsa tonight.
Oh - Patrick should have shot!
Agreed, Dave. That was not Fab defending
Good cross over but a punch by Alisson.
Dallas in the book....that hurts me
I've got a big enough lead tho
Stu Dallas picks up a yellow for a slide in on Jota.
Stu Dallas booked for a foul on Jota. Meslier catches the free kick
Angry Manchester United players hold emergency briefing with Ed Woodward with Red Devils players 'seriously unimpressed' with finding out about the European Super League via the media and not the club
Jota goes on a run then passes to Chompers, Bobby who hhas a shot well blocked . It started with L:eeds coughing up possession. Now Pool have a corner
We were stretched again there but Llorente rescued us again. He's been immense in the last few matches.
Corner from Andy Robertson headed wide at the near post by Wijnaldum
Leeds passing it around at the back....it is a disease!!
That's great news, Dave. If the players rebel against the league then it's hard for it to succeed.
Half an hour in now and I'm basically content with what I've seen so far. We're in this one.
Bugger....one nil Pool
BUEGGER! MANE GIVES POOL THE LEAD. COMICAL LEEDS PLAY. SORRY, BOB
Great to hear that from the Man Utd camp.
Bugger! Liverpool score through TAA.
0-1
Nice long ball from the halfway line from what looked like Jota and Meslier with a rush of blood rushed tooo far put as TAA volleyed it first the across the box for an easy tap in for Mane
We're opened up again now but fortunately Jota blasts over.
If the players refuse to play in the super league is it a violation of contract or are the y free agents since they are Prem players and the club is no longer in the prem,. UEFA FIFA, etc? I'm not sure since I'm not an attorney
Nearly a nice interchange there between Patrick and Tyler but they lose out.
That's what I've been wondering, too. But perhaps the clubs will want to avoid that PR nightmare.
Why didn't Harrison volley that ball
Nice cross by Stu Dallas , put a poor volleyed pass across the box
Just one too many touches there. Jack should have hammered it on the volley.
Now Gjanni goes into the book for a late one on Mane.
The things that scare me about it all.... LA Rams, TB Bucs, Boston Red Sox.....that is where these owners coming from
Milner has a go but slices it wildly. Amazing to think that he was with us as just a wee kid back in the early 2000s.
UEFA president called Woodward a snake after not saying a think about it on the phone last week
Bobby Chompers picks up a yellow for a similar late one, and now we can maybe swing a free kick in here to the big boys.
Struth....almost headed to Jota!
OH! Poor headed back pass by Llorente but Meslier rushes for a close range block to prevent Pool going two up
Oh - almost a suicidal backpass there nodded back by Llorente. That's like one of mine. Meslier was quick to it.
Gjanni tries to find Patrick with a long ball but it was cut out.
The European Cup... old Big Ears....won by the following
Real 13....no more
AC Milan 7...no more
Liverpool 6...no more
Barca 5....no more
Man U 3....no more
Inter 3....no more
Juve 2....no more
Chel 1...no more
FORTY WINNERS!!!
Nice move there but Tyler's shot was too tame.
Good point, Dave. Woodward and the Pool owner should know what the league means to the fans, having been in the Prem for a while . I'm inclined to agree with you because U.S. leagues are very much like Super Leagues
Mane wins Liverpool another corner now.
Fenway Group... taking Liverpools 18 titles and 6 European Cups....they only won of each!
A minute of stoppage time to come now.
Leeds still trying to play out from the back!! There were two players standing at the edge of the box... WHY put yourself in that sort of trouble
19 titles....damn
Half time
Hope the second half will be better for Bob
I am off
Talk to you guys later
Pool one up at the end of a competitive half. Plenty of time for Leeds to come back
Cheers, Dave. Great chatting . Enjoy the rest of your day
Cheerio, Dave - I'm relatively pleased with our performance with probably deserved a goal. Still a lot to play for in the second half.
0-1 at the interval.
The second half is underway from ER!
COME ON LEEDS. LET'S MOUNT A COMEBACK!
Great clip of Leeds players warming up prior to second half kickoff. No wonder why they're so fit
Great save by Meslier from Chompers then hoofed away for a Pool corner
Jota heads over the corner from Andy Robertson
I'm down in the classroom now just setting things up for tonight's session. Come on, you Whites!
Meslier down after gathering a cross in a challenge with Mane
Wishing you a great class and a great result in the match
Jota wins a corner off a long run on a Pool counter
Cross from Ali cleared for a corner by Andy Robertson
Last ditch clearance by Milner for another Leeds corner
Shot from Jack Harrison deflected over by TAA after TAA misjudged a cross. VAR checking for hand ball by TAA. It could very well be a penalty for Leeds
It's just a corner as it was judged Ball to hand instead of the reverse. Corner out for another
That looked a penalty to me. Shame.
That could have Costa Pool, but they have Helder on as the near post header off the corner was off target
Agreed, Bob. I thought that was harsh on Leeds
Oh - now Helder has a great chance. Probably offside, though, anyway.
Arlo with Thiago stats that I couldn't give a toss about.
In case you're interested nine league titles in ten seasons and seven of twenty six career league losses this season with Pool. Thiago blah blah blah
Kabak called for an Ayling foul in a promising position for Leeds
Free kick from Kal just eludes Bamford and goes out of play
Poveda on for Helder Costa
Near post save by Allison from Jack Harrison off nice slick Leeds passing. Corner to Leeds
Corner cleared for another
Salah on for Mane after Thiago cynically tripped Llorente from behind
Thiago with another foul, this time on Dallas. Thiago begging for a card
Naughty by Kal on Milner. Not exactly a welcome back to ER
OH! Off the bar from Bamford as he trapped a long ball then was unlucky
OH! Superb close range reflex block by Allison from Tyler Roberts for a corner off a pass from Poveda
Pool counter off the Leeds corner comes to nothing off a long run by Andy Robertson , but poor final pass
That half volley off the bar from Bamford was off a superb long Ayling pass
Ali Kliched off the pass then Salah with a shot blocked for a corner as he received a 21st Century pass from Meslier
Meslier completely misses the corner then two Pool headers and Meslier rushes back to palm over the bar
The Ox on for Jota
On the following corner I think Milner shot over
OH! Just wide by Salah on a rare chance for Pool this half off a long ball from the back
Pablo Hernandez on for Tyler Roberts
WAY HAY ! LLORENTE HEADS IN A CORNER FROM KAL. NOW 1-1
Congratulations, Bob. A well deserved equalizer
Time for a late Leeds winner
That equalizer moves Pool from fourth back to sixth, which may not matter, given the latest developments
Into stoppage time. A Barber Shop quartet of stoppage time minutes as Bob may be singing about a victory in that genre
PHEW! The Ox shoots straight at Meslier as Milner won a tackle, went on a run then picked out the Ox
Llorente down off a slide tackle on Salah , who was found off a long clearance from Thiago
He's up as play resumes and that's that as it finishes 1-1. I think Bob will take that despite Leeds being unlucky not to finish winners
That's it for me. Great chatting and enjoy the rest of the day.
CHEERS!
Congrats Bob
