England Host Andorra

Morning, chaps - who's up for some England World Cup qualifying action today? I hope you all are, as England host Andorra for what should be a spot of shooting practice at Wembley this afternoon. This should be a chance for Gareth to change things up a bit and loosen the reins. So, join me from noon today on The Deuce for all the action!

Of course, the big news from my perspective is that Lord Bamford starts!

Andorra are the 50th best side in the UEFA confederation. So who do you reckon is worse than them? I'm guessing San Marino who they beat 2-0 earlier in qualifying. Want to guess the other four?

11:56 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thanks, Bob. Here in time for the match vs Andorra.

11:58 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

For the slides worse than Andorra, I'm guessing San Marino, Gibraltar , Liechtenstein, and the Faroes.

11:59 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Congratulations Lord Bamford. Well deserved

11:59 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Nice moment of applause for those who have lost their lives, including Paul Mariner, since England played at Wembley last in July.

COME ON ENGLAND! THRASH THOSE MUGS

12:01 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Let's have an early goal, boys!

12:01 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

This is the fifth meeting vs Androrra. England won the previous four out scoring them 16-0. My questions why didn't they score more against these mugs?

12:02 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Patient build up from the off, as was predictable. That's how England plays now.

12:02 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The U.S. vs Canada kicks off from Nashville at 8 PM on FS1 . Will you be around for that?

12:03 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I guess those tactics will test the fitness of Andorra as it will force them to do a lot of chasing, hopefully tiring them out

12:04 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Bukayo Saka picks up an early free kick. Come on!

12:05 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Saka tripped near the corner flag. Early set piece for England

12:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Hey Boys
I am back from a trip up to Saratoga....and your horse it naturally won

Useless free kick by Trip

12:05 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Bamford got himself free at the back but the free kick was overcooked.

12:06 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Free kick just too high for Bamford , who was well marked

12:06 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Good Afternoon, Dave. Welcome back from the horse races, LOL!

12:06 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I heard that the winning horse was Lord Bamford by a furlong

12:07 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Bamford fouls Garcia, who is making a meal of it . England needs to score because Andorra will probably resort to these tactics as often as possible

12:08 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The race meet actually ends tomorrow. Had fans this year

12:10 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Lindy nearly in on that through ball from Bamford.

12:11 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Sounds like a great experience and a great end of Summer event

12:11 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

So much for an early goal

Come on England

PACE

12:12 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I hardly go to Toga for the races. It is a good day out once in a while

12:12 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Now then, decent free kick chance for England. Come on!

12:13 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Hiya, Dave - welcome to the party!

12:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Free kick chance...probably too far out...chipped in...almost with a chance

12:14 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Sounds like you had a great day out - I miss going to Toga.

12:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Hi Bob.... tell England to get the party started

12:14 PM

In Group J North Mac N Cheese freezes out hosts , Iceland by taking the lead.. The big match in the Group this afternoon is Germany vs Armenia. The winner goers top of Group J

12:15 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - what a miss by Saka! That would have really helped his confidence after that penalty miss.

12:17 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Struth....huge chance for Saka!! Hits it wide....not it was deflected!
Ref is blind

12:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Saka misses a sitter and England should have taken the lead. Nice pass from Reese James to Bellingham and he passed toSaka , who slide wide of an open goal in the six yard box

12:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That must be the same ref who officiated the game I watched last night

12:18 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

YESSSSSS!!!!!!

Lindy gets his fifth goal to fire England into the lead!

12:19 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

YES!!!
Lingard gives England the lead!!

He celebrates like RONALDO!

12:19 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

WAY HAY! LINDY GIVES ENGLAND THE LEAD

12:19 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

See the text from Steve?

12:19 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Can't get a game for United and opens up England's scoring

12:20 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A long England possession culminated in t a pass played wide left to Saka . His cross was headed out and Lindy scored with a well placed finish from the edge of the box

12:21 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Lingard nets again... but up goes the flag

12:21 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Well off

12:21 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - lovely ball through from Lord Bamford but Lindy was offside as he looped the ball over to score.

12:21 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! I thought Lindy had put England two up as he chipped the keeper, but it was disallowed for offside

12:22 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I was in the middle of reading the text when England scored then in the middle again when the disallowed goal happened . I'll try again

12:23 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Bob will be interested to note that Ali assisted on the North Mac goal

12:25 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Lindy is making some great runs in behind the defense. Just couldn't get to that one.

12:26 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Well done, Gjanni - miss that cheeky chappy!

12:27 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Champ basically stating that Andorra is long in the teeth. Ten players over thirty and one a month short of his forty second birthday. One of their starters in the Guiness book of record for a 24 year international career. I guess their youth system is practically non existent

12:29 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - come on, Hendo - wrong ball, mate.

12:29 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Bamford nearly in there from the chip. Went with his favored left peg.

12:30 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Saka almost finds Bamford....good effort

12:30 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Andorra wit one of the highest life expectancies in the world according to Champ. They are known more for their scenery than football

12:31 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

TAA nearly in there but couldn't control it.

12:33 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Come on, ref - get the cards out. Another England free kick now as Lindy is chopped down.

12:34 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

The Andorran seems to have knobbled himself chopping down Lindy.

12:34 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - nice knock down from Lord Bamford and Coady tried the spectacular.

12:36 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Coady with an overhead kick...nice effort

Probably offside

12:36 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Connor Coady just over with an overheard kick. Nice attempt

12:36 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Bamford nearly in there again, but the defender just about got back.

12:37 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Bellingham did really well with his first touch from that TAA pass, but should have gone across goal rather than near post.

12:38 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Nice pass from, TAA to Bellingham , who does well to turn a defender then slices a shot into the side netting

12:38 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Vales goes into the book for a nasty one, which leaves Lindy in a heap.

12:38 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Marc Vales deservedly booked for a poor challenge on Lindy and suspended for Andorra's next match on Wednesday

12:39 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Rumors going around that Lindeloff could be the answer to United's defensive midfield problem....I think he'd be better than Fred!

12:39 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Trippier knocks it too close to the keeper.

12:39 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Another poor free kick from Trip

12:39 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Free kick from Trip too close to the keeper , who punches it away

12:40 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I'd stick McTom in that role - he's better than both of them.

12:40 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

James with a high effort....not a good attempt

England should have created many more chances here...Their keeper hasn't had to do much

12:41 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Lindy would be an interesting solution to that position considering he's an attacking player, but it's worth a try. Why not?

12:41 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I would too, Bob. I think he's bene out injured, but does well in that role and offers more than Fred, who definitely isn't purring

12:42 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Andorra aren't offering anything. I'd stick another forward on and go with a true back three.

12:42 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

TAA wins a corner for England

12:43 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

It seems like the only time you play McTom is to torture Leeds.

12:43 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Bob. Andorra look like a bunch of training dummies on a practice pitch

12:43 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

LOL, Bob! It's as if Leeds had a case of McTomain poisoning

12:44 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Andorra, on a rare attack win a free kick off a challenge by Reese James

12:45 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Andorra free kick straight out for a throw.

12:45 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The free kick is like a rugby clearance into touch

12:45 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

An LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes

12:46 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ONE attempt on goal in the first half!

12:46 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Wow - foul throw now! They're pulling out all the tricks.

12:46 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Did the ref just turn over a throw in because he took too long?

12:46 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Another foul by Reese James

12:47 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I expect quite a few subs in the second half.

12:47 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Saka wins a decent free kick and Rebes is yellow carded.

12:47 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Saka wins a free kick just outside the Andorra box. Rebes booked and also suspended for Andorra's match win Wednesday

12:48 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Looks like TAA is lining it up. Come on!

12:48 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Free kick chance for England

I so wish Southgate would send his team out to entertain too!

12:48 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Three First Names to take....USELESS!

12:48 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Leaning back and well over the top. Disappointing.

Blogger United We Stand said...

HT

I am off for walkies

I'll be back

12:49 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Half-time: A bit disappointing. England go in 1-0 up but it really should have been three or four. Andorra are useless.

12:49 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

England one up at the half and had a ton of possession, but created very little

12:49 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Apparently not....Shadow didn't want to go anywhere!

12:54 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ESPN JUST make the kick off

Come on England..... ATTACK! SHOOT!

1:04 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Yikes - The Deuce nearly missed the second half kick-off with a Gorilla Glue advert.

1:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Three First Names changes places with Two First Names

1:05 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bamford.....oh dear... what a rotten effort there!
COME ON BIRTHDAY BOY

1:05 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - bad miss from Bamford. Sliced it badly from about eight yards out.

1:06 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Back for the second half and Bamfod volleys well over as England attack from the off and Andorra couldn't clear their lines

1:06 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Magyar defense could have used gorilla glue to seals their back line together.

BOOM BOOM!

1:07 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

James with a decent effort!

1:07 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

England definitely knocking on the door early on. Should be further in front.

1:08 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

That would have been a trademark strike from James - I've seen him score a few like that for Chelsea.

1:09 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I just did some research and saw that there are three CONCACAF WC qualifiers in late January and early February. An extra international break this season? Bob will not be pleased

1:09 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

England had a chance there on their left...poor simple pass stopped it all. I think it was Lingard

1:09 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Laziness... or not concentrating

1:10 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Liverpool fans have stated that Reese James can be really handy . Is that true?

1:10 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Not pleased at all.

1:10 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Saka nearly played Bamford in but the defender did well to track back.

1:11 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Ali puts North Big Mac two up in Iceland. He now has a goal and an assist

1:11 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I'm off for a moment to help Kate finish the lunch prep.

1:12 PM

Lindy well over after Bamford headed down a cross

1:14 PM

What's on the menu for lunch?

1:14 PM

The 4th Test Match got a mention by Champs

India were 99 runs behind after the first inning but scored 466 leaving England with a record run chase of 368
The current record is 362 a few years back
Right now England are 54 without a loss

COME ON ENGLAND

1:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

That's quite a task for England. Can they do it?

1:19 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Kane, Grealish and Mount about to come on

1:19 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

We're having a pasta salad, some crackers and cheese and fruit.

1:19 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Here come the three changes

Off goes Bellingham, James and Bamford

1:20 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

So then, Kane, Grealish and Mount to come on. Bellingham, James and of course Bamford coming off. Disappointed for him that he didn't get his goal but proud that he did well.

1:21 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cometh the hour cometh the changes from Gareth. Jude Bellingham mounted off the pitch, Harry Kane and Abel to come on for Bamford, and Jack Grealish on for Reese James

1:21 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Saka thru....saved....offside anyway...by about a mile

1:21 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Threeof the regular starters on and hopefully that means goals for England against and Adnorran that surely is starting to tire

1:22 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Why didn't he take off a defender....or Johsntone

1:23 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Naughty by Rubio on Saka and deservedly booked for that

1:23 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

No one was making a good run there of the free kick

1:23 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Yikes! England have 90% possession. I know it's not a meaningful stat, but I've never seen a team with that much possession

1:25 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Albania and Hungary are still locked at 0-0 in Group I

1:39 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Finally England getting some crosses in

1:39 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Off the post by Harry Kane with just the keeper to beat off a n ice run and pass from Jack Grealish. Should have scored, but he was flagged offside

1:40 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I bet OGS will manufacture some reason to start him on the bench.

1:40 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I think Bamford should have played the full 90 in my book

1:40 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Bringing Grealish on sure change the course of the match. Andorra doesn't how to deal with him

1:41 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

England are now on 16 goals and 1 conceded from their five matches in qualifying. Perfect record and 7 points clear of Hungary in second. Not bad.

Lingard....two goals and an assist

1:44 PM

A really simple goal as TAA took the corner short to Lindy and his cross was headed in by a wide open Saka

1:46 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wow....Albania take the lead!

So, I guess it is just Poland as rivals

1:46 PM

Nasty one from Cucu and he's the fifth Andorran into the book.

1:47 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Lindy with nearly a hat-trick there! TAA put it on a plate for him but his shot was deflected.

1:47 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ooh. Lingard almost with a Three Lion hat-trick

1:48 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Albania second , but Poland will surely overtake them after they play in San Marino this afternoon. A win would put them a point ahead of Albania

1:48 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Kane with a decent effort....well saved

1:48 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Oh - Kane curls another effort toward goal. Good save from the keeper Gomez.

1:48 PM

Great save

1:49 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Nice shot from Harry Kane from 25 yards out and well turned around by Gomez Addams

1:49 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

And Mings should have scored from the corner. Just didn't get over it.

1:49 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Mings heads over the corner from TAA

1:49 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I have no sympathy for Andorra. They have contributed nothing to this match. Teams like them are a complete waste to these competitions

1:50 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Not a convincing score considering the opposition, or lack of, but I guess job done

1:51 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Will have Andorra have enough players to play on Wednesday ?

1:51 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Another Rubio booked. That's three Andorra players suspended for cumulative bookings. That tells you everything about them

1:52 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

LOL, DAVE! That's a good question

1:52 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That's it
England win their second game in a row 4-0

I'll take it again on Wednesday

1:52 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's over and a comfortable 4-0 win for England against Andorra's back ten. Next a match in Warsaw on Wednesday

1:53 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Dave. Three consecutive 4-0 wins would be great

1:53 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

That's it - it's another 4-0 win for the England boys. Could have been more but it's now five wins in qualifying, which puts them on 15 points, six better than Albania in second place in the group.
