This is not the start I was hoping for. I didn't like the Magyars this summer, but they threw their weight around well.

Does their keeper still wear a bobble hat? I liked that and found it as comic as Southall's trackies.
Of course, England lost to Hungary at Wembley 3-6 in Nov 1953. Hungary followed that up with winning in Hungary 7-1 in May 1954
But my main memories of England vs Hungary was the '82 World Cup qualifying.
England won in Budepest 3-1. One of the goals was Brookings shot that stuck into the top corner of the net.
Then at Wembley after England were given a reprieve when Romania lost at home to Switzerland(?)..the BBC showed the England Hungary game live.... Mariner scored the only goal almost tripping over the ball knocking it in
