Super Saturday!
Morning, chaps! It's that time again. I'm settling in to enjoy Manchester United v. Everton, which promises a lot. Both sides are in decent form this season, so it should be quite a contest. Of course, I'll be hoping for a solid United win as Everton are closer to rivals for my beloved Leeds. And speaking of which, the 10am hour brings up an absolute must-win for the Whites. We've had a rocky start to the season, with a lot of unwinnable fixtures. But starting today, we've got a string of matches that should bring us some points. Come on, you Uniteds!

Good Morn ing Bob . Here to join you for an LOB telly Saturday. Delighted our teams are on the telly. The Seagulls vs the Gunners is the late match
This may be my last day on the LOB for a while Since Elizabeth and I start our vacation tomorrow and possibly the next chapter in our lives
The teams are emerging from that famous tunnel in the corner at Old Trafford:
Manchester United: de Gea, Wan Bissaka, Varane, Lindelof, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Martial, Cavani.
Subs: Bailly, Pogba, Ronaldo, Lingard, Sancho, Henderson, Alex Telles, Matic, van de Beek.
Everton: Pickford, Godfrey, Mina, Keane, Digne, Townsend, Doucoure, Allan, Gordon, Gray, Rondon.
Subs: Kenny, Holgate, Begovic, Gbamin, Davies, Lonergan, Branthwaite, Dobbin, Whitaker.
Referee: Michael Oliver (Northumberland).
Morning Boys
Not liking the line up
No Ronaldo or Pogba!
Back to McFred in the midfield
VDB can't get a game!!
A promotion six pointer about to kickoff in the Championship as Coventry host the the Cottagers. It's fifth vs Fourth
Morning, boys - great to have you on board. Best of luck on your travels, David - I hope it's successful for you.
Good Morning, Dave. Not liking that at all.OGS may be getting pressure from Saint Fernie
Nice ovation for Roger Hunt now - another England '66 legend gone.
Glad both sets of fans clapping for Roger Hunt.... Glad they didn't do a moment of silence
Not sure how United and Everton fans would have done with that
A minute's applause for the passing of Roger Hunt
Thanks, Bob. We're excited as it's more than a vacation
I don't understand why Ronaldo is on the bench - didn't he just save United's bacon against Valencia?
Oliver Twist gets the match underway from OT
I agree, Bob. I know it's his age, but did OGS get pressure from the Portuguese FA to rest him?
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
Everton playing a lesser eleven too
As I mentioned Coventry vs the Cottagers is a promotion six pointe r that just kicked off. Coventry were thrashed 5-0 in Bedfordshire in midweek.
Where are you going on vacation David?
Not sure why the Toffees are. They aren't in Europe and many of their players have a fortnight off. It doesn't make sense
Decent move by United there...I would have liked Brunot to have a pop
We're going to NC/ Georgia. We'll be in the mountains in the Southwest corner of NC and the the Northwest corner of Georgia going house hunting and vacationing as well. Sort of a working vacation. We already got pre approved for a loan
I'm quite surprised that my beloved Leeds are on the telly. I assumed that they'd play the Chelsea match as the Blues are title contenders. But I'm not complaining.
Oh - what more does Martial need to score that header? A gilt-edged invitation?
I remember that '92 loss to Everton in the Prem first season!
United having come off losing the league to BLOODY LEEDS .. they lost away to the Blades(conceding the first ever Prem goal). United then played at home to Everton and lost 0-3!! We then only drew at home to Ipswich 1-1!
Not a great start to the season.... but.....we finished 16 points ahead of the Champs.... and won it all!
Awful miss by Martial
Also a promotion six pointer in the Championship yesterday as the Potters handed the Baggies their first loss of the season, defeating them 1-0.Baggies still top and Potters were third , pending the outcome of today's matches. Nick Powell with the goal and Sam Johnstone with a penalty save. Both players showing what they learned at the MUFC Academy
United really exerting some pressure on Everton early doors.
Am I correct that the '92 loss to the Toffees was their last win at OT or have the Toffees won once since then?
Have fun David...sounds like an adventure
Great cross by Greenwood....NO ONE on the end of it
Oh - now Greenwood fizzes one across the area but no one is sliding in. That's why you need the likes of a Ronaldo who has a nose for goal.
If we end up moving then all LOBers will be invited to check out the new digs and the spectacular scenery
I think they said it was their last
Of course, there was that bloody 4-4 that lost us the title!
4-2 up late...grrrr
Thanks , Dave. We're excited
I'm surprised that Greenwood didn't make it into the England squad - who made it ahead of him? I assume that Lord Bamford isn't in it, as he's injured right now.
That 4-4 draw is a repressed memory, LOL!
United have already played better than on Wednesday and last Saturday!
They were so awful on Wednesday
Everton with a chance....blocked!
Phew!
think it was offside
That pass pruned on to the Toffee and off a defender for a Toffees corner
Oh - Rondon was behind the United defense but he dithered and allow Varane to get back.
I think it was called offside
Bob, I think Chelsea vs Saints is on USA , so it will be televised too
What about the England squad.... Lingard and Sancho in the squad..Greenwood isn't
I thought Sgate chose on form?
He didn't pick Greenwood or Bellingham saying they have been playing lots of games....they all have!
Mike and co are heading off to Liverpool today for their first show with Level 42 tonight
They are going all over the country!
Talking about the Toffees . A former Toffee scored against Citeh in the CL in midweek as well as Messi
The Toffees are starting to try to play a bit now. Should open up some gaps.
Close header by the ex United man
Oh - Michael Keane with a flashing header that wasn't that far away. Dangerous moment for United.
That's odd by Southgate. I thought playing a lot of games would be a reason to be chosen. Surely he isn't afraid of Andorra and the Magyars.
McTom with a chance to cross....just whacked it and of course it was blocked
Eating Toffees can lead to a case of McTomain poisoning as he wins a United corner
The Toffees break off the corner off a blocked shot
What is with United....they give away break aways from corners all the time!
I didn't realize - the website I usually check just said that it was on nbc.com.
Kate gives the Cottagers the lead at Coventry and are now top thanks to Kate's goal
I don't understand Southgate's reasoning at all. Is Michail Antonio in the squad. He's obviously the most in form England striker.
The Cherries will go top if they defeat the Evil Blades
Oh - terrific header by Cavani, and well saved by Pickers.
Great header by Cavani....bloody Pickers
OH! The Pick of the Saves as Pickford superbly turns aaround an electric Thomas Edison header off a McTomain cross
JHJ have 24 venues around the country
Liverpool tonight
They go all over the shop
Cambridge Corn Exchange on Oct 23
Royal Albert Hall on Oct 28
I wish we had a chance to see them. I remember many a fun night at the Corn Exchange. Saw Def Leppard there on their first tour. My hearing hasn't been the same since!
IS there a new Sheriff in town? Real were policed at the Bernabeu during their 1-2 defeat to the Moldovan Champs.
I wish I could see JHJ in concert . Would be a fantastic experience
United's crossing....yikes!
Please practice!!
Me too!!!
Everton break....shot blocked...all came from a USELESS short pass by Fred!!!!
Bob, you heard from David Vansuch this week as well?
I have to admit that Level 42 aren't really my cuppa, but I suppose that they're good lads to tour with.
Would United be seeing a new Sheriff in Town if they were to play like this against them?
Yeah - I did. He's mad keen to organize some sort of reunion at what sounds like his palatial mansion in PA. I told him that I'm open to it once the pandemic period has passed.
Mason greenwood straight to pickford. He should go all out as he will have a break for a fortnight or will he be in the under 23 squad?
That would be a great occasion. I'm open to hosting a reunion in our mountain retreat if we end up moving there
Hefty challenge there by McTom and the Toffees didn't like it.
Grow up players!!
It was nothing to start!!
He told me about that place too
Sounds like a great place
A fight break out off a foul. I'm guessing there will be a booking apiece for each side
Just a lecture which is probably the right decision
I've seen those type of skirmishes in a couple of the Toros matches
Oh - dangerous cross there from Rondon and it could have gone anywhere before it's hacked away.
I've seen pictures and it looks like quite a place. He's married to a hedge fund guy who's worth a packet. I visited them once in their Manhattan high rise, which was stunning. Views of Brooklyn Bridge and the like.
Mike said no to a bus but the band are in a luxury van traveling up to Pool
He said the van was not that good looking!! It was white with a red line thru it and a dent!
Oh - great save by De Gea from Demarai Gray!
OH! Good save by De Gea to keep it at 0-0
Gray with a shot....well saved by De Gea.... caused by us losing it AGAIN
Bolt is back
Surprised he came back after Wednesday's performance!
YIKES! The Partridge Family Bus or an Airstream would have made for a great trip for JHJ
Geez...just what I need for fantasy... Greeny in the book
Greenwood booked for a foul on Flash Gordon. Ming the Merciless is pleased
Greenwood fouled by Damari Gray after the free kick was headed out. Milking it trying to get Gray booked and Oliver Twist having none of it
Everton are starting to dominate...what is up with United side!!!
Great block Obi Wan from Doucourre
Bob will not be pleased to note that Kate's goal at Coventry has now been credited as an OG as it was deflected in
Not good by Martial....why wouldn't you be all out to prove you should play!!!
Talking about the Fantasy League. This match is more of a nightmare than a Fantasy for the two Daves
That is a shame for Kate.
I wonder if OGS is doing his level best to win the Sack Race to make sure nobody gets any PPP points in that category
United keep losing it in the midfield!
Not pleased that this match is resembling the performance vs Vanilla exactly a week ago and at the same time of the day
Coventry had started the season really well.....they lost at Luton midweek 5-0 and now behind again
I'm quite nervous about the Leeds match today. It's really our first winnable home match of the season after having faced three top half sides. We're actually only one point down on my rubric for gaining 50 points this season, having dropped two points from the rubric with the draw against Burnley away (bottom six club) and having gained the one point that I didn't have us getting against Everton at home. But enough is enough - we need a win at home against a newly promoted club.
This season, after the first match, Bruno has tried to be too fancy with passes and is getting frustrated too early
YES!!!!!!!
Bruno passes it to Martial.... ONE NIL!
Nice finish
GOAL! Kung Fu Panda karate chops one in to put United in front!
WAY HAY! UNITED KARATE CHOP THEIR WAY TO THE LEAD WITH A SPECTACULAR FINISH
Greenwood passed to Bruno to the Karate kid who karate chopped in for a rocket of a shot in the upper 90
Agreed, Bob. A perfect time for Leeds to get their first league win of the season heading into the break.
I don't know why OGS is being given grief for benching Ronaldo. It was alway said that he would be rested sometimes...he is 36! He's started every game since he joined except for the WH League Cup match
United top of the table again - at least for the next couple of hours.
Martial with another attempt...saved
At least he's woken up
This is only the second season that Leeds and the Hornets are facing each other in the top flight . The other season was 1999-2000. Their first season playing at any level was 1988-89 in the old Division 2
The only way United stay top is if Pool vs Cithe is a draw and Chelsea fail to defeat the Sainbts
That's it for the half
Good ending to the half
Play positive in the second half!
United one up at the half thanks to that karate chopped goal a few minutes ago
Goal Rush is back...I haven't seen that yet this season!
They used to have Gold Rush and Soccer Saturday too!
The second half is underway from OT
We are off for the second half....I want United to improve the lead as well as holding it
COME ON MAN UNITED! LET'S SHOW THE TOFFEES THAT THEY HAVE A SOFT CENTRE
United definitely need more goals because they have an inferior goal difference to Pool, Citeh, and Chelsea. As you have stated , goals count
Great that goal rush is back and about time .
Ben Godfrey clears for a United corner
Shaw cheating with the placement of the ball for the corner!
I hate that crap!! Why do it? Doesn't help you any!
And he then takes a crappy corner!
The corner Shaw was headed out then a long shot from Mason Greenwood is straight to Pickford
Coventry ties it up vs the Cottagers. The Cottagers now third, a point behind the Baggies and the Cherries
United are more than capable of seeing this one out, but they should keep pushing for more goals.
Baggies lost last night to an ex United man goal
Powell got the winner
Coventry now leads 2-1 the Cottagers thanks to a spot kick. Coventry now third behind the Baggies and Cherries on goal difference. Cottagers down to fifth place
Martial going to come off for Sancho
Another United Academy grad, Sam Johnstone did well in a losing effort as he saved a spot kick and FOTMOB named him MOTM
Ronaldo to come on too
A United player Shaw after an accidental boot to the face
Well, well, well - we're going to be favored with Sancho and of course Ronaldo.
He's up and able to continue
Great to see CR coming on
Ronaldo and Sancho for Martial and who? Cavani I guess
It is Martial and Cavani
There's the double substitution. Sancho karate chopped on to the pitch in place of the goal scorer and Thomas Edison Cavani Skippied off the pitch. There's an electric feeling about that change
Gray was streaking through there but was well marshaled by Lindelof.
A solo run by Damari Gray and thankfully loses his balance as he scuffs a shot wide
Sancho better start playing in United's colors....he has been rubbish....where is the 70+ million talent ?
Was Real marshaled by Sheriff at the Bernabeu in midweek? Just wondering. Sound like they have plenty of marshals at this time
Naughty by Bruno on Allan in a collision between two first names
United break fast...I like that....McTom just fails to connect with it
OH! That had to he a case of McTomain poisoning as he scuffed his shot with just Pickford to beat off a nice passing possession
Bruno vs Allan could also be two last names
Just read that Koeman is staying at Barca....shocker!
Losing back to back games in Europe 0-3!
Coventry now leads the Cottagers 3-1
United with a free kick chance...go short quickly... McTom can't get the ball over
Corner
Awful corner by Bruno!!
Everton break and scores
UNITED ARE PATHETIC FROM THEIR OWN CORNERS!!
It always happens!!
Sorry, chaps - Andros Townsend levels it for the Toffees.
DAMN ! ANDROS TIES IT UP AT OT. NOW 1-1. WELL PALCED SHOT BUT HORRIBLE DEFENDING
All came from an atrocious corner!
Do they not leave anyone back?
It is stunning how many chances they give away from their own corners!
Again...alll came from a modern day corner delivery
Come on, United - go on and do it again.
A comedy of United euros that does not amuse the two Daves. Started with a horrible corner from Bruno cleared by the first man then a week challenge by Fred on Damari Gray as he went on a solo run down the left then passed to Doucorre to Townsend for the goal as United were caught out by their own corner
Uh oh....United have another corner
This corner hit much deeper.... get another one
Fred should have won the ball TWICE for the goal
United second on goal difference behind Pool and the Toffees third behind both United and Pool on goal difference
Thanks, Bob. We're our own worst enemy
Coventry 3-1 up...I am happy they are building up again
Pogba about to come on
Steve not the only one with a power outage. The whole United side too. Sound about right?
Now it's Pogs coming on with a new barnet.
The final roll of the dice form OGS As Pogba one for Fred. Sort of an attacking change
Pogba should be transferred to Barnet for having that Barnet.
BOOM BOOM!
United led 1-0 against Leeds.... then 1-1.... won 5-1
United led 1-0 against Newcastle...then 1-1....won 4-1
Can United do it again?
Tom Davies on for Anthony Flash Gordon
OGS tells Sancho...stay wide and take him on
United could get their second undeserved 2-1 win in the space of a few days at OT if they score the next goal.,
YYIKES! Coventry now leads the Cottagers 4-1
Coventry needs five goals without reply to go second and seven without reply to go top
Nice pass from Sancho to CR who shoots wide from a narrow angle
Hard to believe Coventry lost 5-0 in midweek. They must have gone to sleep in Bedfordshire
With all the action , I missed the comment about Fat Ronny about Barca. As things stand Barca hard pressed to make the knockout stages of the CL and seventh in La Liga with a game in hand. I guess he's staying because it's hard to find a top manager that wants the job
Cheers, Dave
United lose it in the midfield AGAIN!!!
I have heard that they might call on Roberto Martinez....but he's busy with Belgium next week
Better from United . Sancho does well to get past Ben Godfrey than passes to Pogo , who curls a shot just off target from just outside the box
Oh - Pogba nearly found the top corner with that curler.
I think Roberto Martinez is a top manager, but not sure if he's going to win titles and CLs if picked for Barca. I think he's from that part of Spain
I'm sure Roberto will be elated to be playing in the NL tournament next week. Bob not so much, but Dave probably a bit more excited
More crappiness trying to play out from the back!
Doucorre wins a Toffees corner after Fred gifted them possession
Surely that's offside on Mina, no?
Everton take the lead!
The flag stays down!
Awful defending...NO ONE OUT THERE!
DMAN ! JERRY MINOR, O F ALL PEOPLE GIVES THE TOFFEES THE LEAD. . SLOPPY DEFENDING AT THE BACK FROM THE CORNER. WAS HE OFFSIDE?
Of course the goal is ruled out - he was a mile offside.
PHEW? Disaloowed for offside and a letoff for United
Has to be offside...MILES OFF
What was the linesman looking at!!
Why didn't he shoot in the first place
Will CR score another winner deep in stoppage time?
We get about ten off those linesman decisions a match when the Toros play. Very frustrating to watch
But that does show some danger, as United push for the winner. That's what undid us against West Ham last weekend. One quick break and Antonio was in.
Was the goal disallowed for offside or because the officials wanted the Toffees winless streak at OT to continue?
BUGGER! Sancho with a tame shot straight to Pickford after far too much passing
73 Pence effort instead of 73 million pounds
4 added minutes
A Barber Shop quartet of stoppage time minutes. I hope we're singing about a United victory
LOL, Dave. A very accurate explanation
Awful by Obiwan
Talking about former Un ted players. Mark Robbins doing a great job as Coventry manager
United not showing much urgency...again
Free kick....OFFSIDE.... USELESS
That should do it....United are rubbish
