Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good Morning, Bob. Thanks for getting us started . Still 0-0 in both Prem matches
The big news out of the UK is that Jimmy Greaves passed away this morning at the age of 81
Morning, David - yes, very sad news about Greavsie. He was a legend.
A moment's applause when this match started since he was a former Hammer and in the late match where he played for both teams
The teams on display at Upton Park:
West Ham (4-2-3-1, positions of the front four tbc) Fabianski; Coufal, Zouma, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Soucek, Rice; Vlasic, Fornals, Benrahma; Bowen.
Substitutes: Areola, Dawson, Diop, Fredericks, Masuaku, Lanzini, Noble, Kral, Yarmolenko.
Manchester United (4-2-3-1) de Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Fred; Greenwood, Fernandes, Pogba; Ronaldo.
Substitutes: Heaton, Bailly, Dalot, Lingard, Mata, Matic, van de Beek, Martial, Sancho.
Referee Martin Atkinson.
OH! First chance of the match Nice turn by Jarred Bowen and his close range shot well blocked by Maguire
United needs to win by three or more goals to go top ahead of Liverpool. Same with Chelsea in the late match. If both win by three or more then the team with the bigger win goes top
As Dave would say Maguire was faffing about the back and it was a different defender that blocked.
In the Dundee Derby the Tangerines won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Ian Harkes, son of John. Tangerines fifth , but will go back down to 6th if Celtic win at Livvy later this morning
Nice kick save by De Gea from Bowen after a cross from Rice was headed away then Soucek shoots over from 30 yards out. It all started with a long ball from Fornals
Interesting - I didn't know that John Harkes had a son who played. There seem to be a lot of those bouncing around.
First chance for Skippy . He cuts in and shoots straight at Flappy
Also , I think both have played for DC United. I wonder how Steve would compare the two
Cross from Bruno headed out by Ogbonna for a corner under pressure from Mason Greenwood
OH! Corner headed and shot from Bruno deflected onto the post then well cleared off the line by Cresswell
Oh - Luke Shaw tries one from distance after some laborious build-up. It seems a matter of time.
Then Flappy Shaw did make a decent save from a shot from 25 yards out
United doing well after a slow start to the match
Sorry, mate - Benrahma opens up the scoring for West Ham. Wicked reflection off Varane. Might even be an own goal.
BUGGER! HAMMERS TAKE THE LEAD WITH A SHOT FROM THRITY YARDS OUT FROM BENHRAMA THAT TOOOMA WICKED DEFLECRTION OFF O F VARANE
Than ks, Bob. United need to do better. Another flat start from them
Flappy turns a round a near post shot from Obi Wan off a pass from McTomain
Oh - Ronaldo was in there but his first touch let him down for once. Might have hit it first time.
WAY HAY! SKIPPY TIES IT UP AS FLAPPY LIVED UP TO HIS NAME GIVING SKIPPY AN EASY TAP IN
VAR checking for offside
GOAL! Ronaldo again, of course.
VAR checking on it, but he should be onside.
1-1
WAY HAY! It stands . Now `1-1
Four goals in three matches for Skippy now - wow!
Ronaldo could easily score 40 goals at this rate - Jimmy Greaves numbers.
The goal Shaw did come from the corner. It was headed out then Pogba won the ball back, passed wide to Bruno , who put in a great cross . The Hammers keeper was Flappy with a volley from Skippy, who put away his won rebound
In the other match, Neil Maupay has given the Seagulls the lead vs the Foxes with a spot kick.Seagulls now second
Lovely curling cross from Bruno - he's on top of the scoring charts and in amongst it with the assists as well.
I don't like that - I was hoping for a Leicester win in that match.
Agreed, Bob. I'm delighted we signed Skippy. I would be really shocked if anyone picked him for GBB. There will prorbably not be any points for anyone in that category or player of the year
I wouldn't mind a draw in that match. I seriously doubt if the Seagulls will maintain a CL spot. Both teams may be mid table this season
I fully expect United to go on and win this one.
Oh - Ronaldo in again from Greenwood's pass and Flappy did well to save his drive.
Nice run and pass from Mason Greenwood and this time Flappy wasn't off a shot from Skippy
United were not in a pickle as Valsic volleyed off. Cresswell did well to put in a nice cross
I thin you would agree that the Seagulls in second is a real nonsense
The Hammers fans enjoyed those Ronaldo step overs. I sure that deep down inside, they're just pleased to be able to see the great man live.
AN LOB blogging duet of stoppage time minutes
Flappy did well to rap over a deflected cross from Bruno
It's 1-1 at the end of a half between two heavyweights. A great watch
Seagulls lead the Foxes 1-0 at the half
Second half underway from the London Stadium
Back on for the second half - come on, United!
Sadly , the late match is on the Cock. Not expecting much from that as both managers are pragmatic, which means plays boring footie
Oh - Ronaldo should have had his second! Great save by Flappy!
OH! Great close range block by Flappy from Ronny and the Hammers were caught in possession
Yeah - I can't imagine that London Derby having much in the way of fireworks.
Skippy has a shot blocked off the corner then the Hammers win their first corner of the match on the counter. Soufal with a nice tackle;e on Fred
I'm sure like me, you're not pleased that it's on the Cock. Not exactly Cock a Hoop about that
I do agree with you about Skippy. I will definitely be telling the grandchildren about him.
United Shaw do win a corner
Maguire Shaw does head well wide off the corner
YIKES! Wellie puts the Seagulls two up vs the Foxes
Oh - Fournals with a chance there. Tried something fancy but it didn't quite come off.
Not well by Cresswell as he gifts United a corner
Again, Maguire Shaw does head a corner well wide
De Gea did well too gather a long ball as the Classic could have put United in a pickle
Sorry, Vlasic, not Classic
No worries - I got the pun regardless. Well in!
Cheers, mate. Thought you would like it. It will be a regular during Hammers matches
Soufal clears a pass from Bruno for yet another United corner
Bruno with a long range shot United's tenth corner of the match. Great tackle by Greenwood on Soufal to prevent a counter
McTom is down for the count after catching that Benrahma blast full on.
Hammers counter due to a case of McTomaon poisoning and on the counter Benhrama had a shot blocked by McTomain
Does he have MCTomain poisoning , Bob
Someone needs to teach OGS how to tie a necktie. A bit short today.
More like a McHole in the Noggin!
I wonder if this match would have been different if Antonio hadn't been suspended for this match
LOL, Bob. Is that what they mean by a Big Mc
He certainly does give them some dynamism they're not getting from Vlasic or Fournals.
I'm sure if Dave was on the sideline, he would let OGS know in no uncertain terms, LOL!
Kate's favorite Jamie Vardy has pulled one back for Leicester. 2-1 now on the south coast.
I like Fornals, but he's playing deeper than normal this match. Without Antonio, Hammers in a bit of a pickle
Steve will claim he was being a goal hanger. Not a Steve favorite
Vlasic isn't much a big dill, then. He's off and Yarmolenko is on.
Vlasic with a standing ovation. Its that due to the locals liking dill pickles? Jammy Lenko for Vslaic as it's jam for pickles. Do you ever make that swap in cuisine?
VAR checking for possible penalty to the hAmmers. It looked a coming together between Soucek and Obi Wan and VAR seems to agree
Sancho and Lindy getting ready to come on for United . Lindy a favorite with both sets of supporters as well as Young Boys supporters
Mason Greenwood has been quiet today - I wonder how it is for him playing alongside Ronaldo.
Sancho and Lindy coming for Greenwood and Pogs now. Not a bad switch.
A double change by OGS. Sancho for Greenwood and Lindy for Pogba . I think Lindy will play where Greenwood did and Sancho where Pogba did
Did you see Jam for pickles. Have you ever made that swap is that more along the lines of Eastern European cuisine?
Tame shot by Bruno straight to Flappy as he was well set up by Lindy on the counter
In the SPL, a shock as Lvvy leads Celtic 1-0. Rangers leads well by the same. Both in the first half. Rangers now tripp by three points while Celtic remains sixth.Livvy move from bottom to ninth, a point clear of both relegation and a playoff spot
Ronaldo goes down in the box. Nothing from the ref but VAR is checking it.
VAR checking for a possible penalty too United. Var says no and I'm inclined to agree as Skippy ran into Soufal
I like jam and pickles but I don't fancy the combination.
Last ditch Hammers clearance Zoumaed away off a pass from Sancho
Understandable. Probably more popular in Eastern Europe
VArane with a rocket of a backless that forces De Gea into conducing an unnecessary corner
Corner headed away and Fornals with a long range shot well wide
Ronaldo on the deck again, appealing for a penalty. A thought the earlier one was a better shout.
This match seems to be pestering out as both teams played away in Europe during the week
Lanzini to come on for the Hammers and Metic for United. Sounds like Moyes going for thew win and OGS for the draw
Like for like as Matic on for Fred and like for like as Lanzini on for Benhrama
Fred off and Matic on. West change the goalscorer Benrahma for Lanzini.
Hopefully there won't be another late Lindy back pass
Oh yes! What a hit from Jesse Lingard!!!
WAY HAY! LINDY MAKES UP FOR HIS MIDWEEK ERROR AS HE GIVES IUNITED A LATE 1-2 LEAD ON HIS RETURN TO THE LONDON STADIUM
That's great for him after that error on Tuesday night.
A trio of stoppage time minutes
Ronaldo wants another penalty - he's not going to get it. Stone cold penalty that one - no wonder he's so bemused.
The goal came off a marathon possession. A cross from Metic was double headed away then Metic passed to Lindy , who cut in scored with a curling shot in the corner
And not there's a check for a handball on Luke Shaw. Looked unintentional to me.
Martin Atkinson's going to have a look. Doesn't look good for United.
Hammers Shaw do want a penalty for hand ball off the cross from Jammy Lenko\./ The arm was out stretched but only a yard from the ball. Martin Atkinson going to the monitor
And it is a penalty - sorry, David.
BUGGER! MArtin Atkinson points to the spot. That Shaw is harsh
Bowen off and Noble on - to take the penalty. What drama!
Cheers, Bob. I think that's less of a penalty than the one at the other end
Mark Noble on for Jarred Bowen and Noble to take
I totally agree - that was a certain penalty. He might have had two.
Oh - and David De Gea has saved it! Justice.
WAY HAY! De Gea saves a poor spot kick from Mark Noble. Justice served
Do you really want a player who's coming on cold to take a crucial penalty? I don't think so.
It was risky having someone fresh off the bench taking a spot kick
And that's it - De Gea has saved United's bacon and OGS runs on to congratulate him.
I'm off to the shower. I'll be in and out of the London Derby on the Cock.
It's over and United get a big 1-2 win at the London Stadium. United move second, ahead of the Seagulls and behind Pool on goal difference. Hammers down to eighth place
The Seagulls have defeated the Foxes 2-1 and are now third
Back for Spurs vs Chelsea . Not happy that NBCSN is showing Monster Jam instead of the match. Not exactly jamming about it
They're off from SFL II
Early Sprs pressure but several blocked shots
Delle Alli wins a free kick just outside the Chelsea box off a corner
Harry Kane and NOT aBEL; TO SCORE AS IT'S OFF THE WALL FOR A CORNER
Prior to kickoff , great moment's applause for the passing of Jimmy Greaves, who was a top striker with both clubs. Former players from both teams part of the moments applause
Prior to kickoff great moments applause from both sets of supporters for the passing of Jimmy Greaves, who was a goal scoring legend for both clubs. Former players from both clubs part of the occasion.
If Chelsea wins 3-0 they will be tied first with Liverpool.
Motherwell has tied it up at Rangers. Well still fourth. Gers still top, but only by a point.
Livvy still one up vs Celtic late on
Spurs win a corner off a free kick as Harry Kane was offside
The Chelsea Kepa fumbles a shot from Harry Kane the gathers the rebound. Then Marcos Alonso wins a Chelsea corner
Rangers vs Well finished 1-1 while Livvy Celtic 1-0. Celtics in sixth place. Rangers top by a point
It's 0-0. Both teams with several blocked shots, but otherwise lots of huffing and puffing
0-0 at half time at Shite Fart Lane. I had a feeling that this one would be a snoozer.
Kanehe?Kante? Will he? Kante? mounted on. A conservative switch by Tuchek as the second half is underway
Lori's does well to tip over a volley from Marcos Alonso. Corner out for another
Casino Royal heads out for another Chelsea corner
GOAL! THIAGO SILVA HEADS IN THE CORNER FROM MARCOS ALONSO. DELLE ALLI WAS MARKING HIM BUT JUST STOOD THERE AS SILVA JUMPED TO HEAD IN
OH! Volley from Marcos Alonso cleared off the line by Dier then for a corner
Spurs seventh where they finished last season
GOAL CHELSEA GO TWO UP WITH A SHOT FROM KANTE.SPURS LOST THE BALL DEEP IN THEIR OWN HALF THEN SHOT FROM KANTE FROM JUST OUTSIDE THE BOX TOOK A WICKED DEFLECTION OFF DIER AND OFF RHE INSIDE OF THE PIST TRICKLING JUST OVER THE LINE
Chelsea now second ahead of United on goal difference and just behind Pool on goal difference
N Dummy skipped off the pitch and Lo Celso replaced by Bryan Gil as the Spuritly Saint makes a Double change
Decent save by the Chelsea Kepa off a long range shot from Harry Kane
A teutonic switch from the teutonic manager as Timmy Warner on for Kai the Guy
The Chelsea Kepa down with cramp. With Mendy injured, Marcus Batinelli, who kept the bench warm on the backyard deck at Bob and Kate's warms up. The Chelsea Kepa OK 👌to continue
OH! GREAT reflex save by Lloris from a Thiago Silva header off a corner
Werner with a shot blocked by Lloris then Kante has a shot blocked then Lloris athletically palms away a cross from Marcos Alonso
Davinson Sanchez for Romero.
Free header for the Chunk but heads a cross from Kovacic straight to Lloris
Kovacic through but too many touches as his near post shot kick saved by Lloris for a corner.
GOAL! RUDIGER PUTS CHELSEA THREE UP.CORNER HEADED OUT THEN RUDIGER SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH OFC A PASS FROM WERNER, WHO SHOULD BE SCORING THESE TYPE OF GOALS
Chelsea and Pool tied for first.
The Chunk with a shot blocked for a corner
It's over and Chelsea win 0-3 at SFL II. CHELSEA top ahead of Pool by alphabet soup
Wow - 0-3 is quite a statement from the Blues. They're now level with Liverpool on 13 points and 11 GD, while United are also on 13 points but with 9 GD. Those two Ronaldo penalties that should have been would have put all three sides level.
That's it for me - enjoy the rest of your weekend, mate!
