Back to the Prem!
Morning, boys! It seems like forever since we were together on a Saturday morning for some of the good stuff, but here we are again. It all gets started with Crystal Palace entertaining table-topping Spurs on NBC Sports. That's followed by the usual 3pm GMT fixtures, including a Ronaldo-led United at Newcastle on USA. There's also the intriguing relegation battle between Arsenal and Norwich. We end with Chelsea v. Villa. Join me for all the good stuff, won't you?

Happy Ronaldo Day!!
Morning Bob
NBCSN went to split screen commercials as the teams were in the tunnel. They are back as they are coming out....will they go again before kick off>
Tottenham come into this one top of the table with a perfect record from three matches, the last team to have that. But they're missing Sonaldo as well as three South Americans who are banned because of that nonsense in Argentina.
Palace come into this one in 14th, just above Leeds on goal difference. So you know what that means for me - come on, you Spurs!
Spurs coming out from the side of the tunnel....and off they go for another set of commercials!
Wonder when NBCSN is closing up shop? They said before the end of the year
Morning, Dave - Happy Ronaldo Day to you, as well. I hope he scores a hat-trick right off the bat.
I hope so!!
Lord Bamford to follow suit tomorrow
I'd like Spurs to drop points today....United to go top
Minutes silence for 9/11
Impeccably observed...well done
Proper neighborhood ground is Selhurst Park
I don't think I ever went to a match there even though my aunt and uncle lived very close.
New commentator here
I think heard this is Palace's FOURTH London derby of the season!! They have Anfield up next
Yup....they just repeated it!
Chelsea, Brentford, West Ham and Spurs
I'll take that - hopefully Dan James will set those goals up for Lord Bamford.
That's a crazy run of fixtures but I suppose it saves on petrol and hotel fees.
Spurs new boy Emerson Royale wins them an early corner. He looks up for it.
Leeds had their eye on Huddersfield midfielder Conor Gallagher all summer long, but he eventually went to Palace and he's had a cracking start to the season. Ah well....
Lloris with poor distribution....Dier gets a knock
Palace lose the ball the in their own half...morons.....Spurs blow a big chance
Crowd sounds great
Dier is being replaced.... All Hugo's fault!
Not good for Spurs - Dier has become a rock for them at the back, after beginning his career as a defensive midfielder.
I just noticed that I neglected to post the teams earlier in the thread, so here they are:
Crystal Palace: Guaita, Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell, Gallagher, Kouyate, McArthur, Zaha, Benteke, Ayew.
Subs: Butland, Milivojevic, Tomkins, Olise, Hughes, Clyne, Edouard, Kelly, Riedewald.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Emerson, Tanganga, Dier, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Winks, Lucas Moura, Kane, Alli.
Subs: Doherty, Gil Salvatierra, Rodon, Gollini, Ndombele, Davies, Scarlett, Markanday, Omole.
Referee: Jon Moss (W Yorkshire).
Love all the 3 o'clockers being back
Of course, we will have USA on the telly. Tom brings down his XBOX and we'll watch another match on that. I might have a third on my laptop
The Cock doesn't have that Goals match anymore or Soccer Saturday! I loved it when they had that
Not a lot going on in this one so far.
Good morning Bob and Dave. Here at the rec room watching and typing on my phone.
Free kick chance for the Eagles
Delli Alli Sandwiches down Jordan Ayew just outside the box
Totally agree - it was weird having the matches so stretched out across the weekend - always a Friday evening match and then four spread out over Saturday and Sunday and matches on Monday and Tuesday evening. I understood why they did it, but I didn't like it.
Morning David....good on you!
Glad you could drop in
Having fun?
Useless effort!!
Connor Gallagher more like Noel with that free kick well over
Thanks Dave. Having a blast. Will be around for this match and your match then off to the Allstadt Brewery
Has Patrick Vieta been booed by the Spurs fans?
I doubt any South American players that had international duty will play this weekend since they had WC Qualifiers Thursday night
Morning, David - I hope that you're enjoying your weekend in Fredericksburg.
I'm still hoping that Raphinha might be able to play tomorrow.
The bans for the Brazilians were lifted last night
They are all eligible to play
Tom told me yesterday that Cavani wasn't available today. He didn't go anywhere
Rooney still struggling
His Derby lost at St Andrews 2-0 yesterday
Troy Deeney came on as a sub for Brum....he grew up as a fan
Banjo Boy's Brummies defeated Roon's Rams 2-0 .Banjo Boy's lads now 4th
With all the rough and tumble stuff so far....has there been a shot on target yet?
Just beat me to that,LOL!Interesting about Deeney
Zaha finds a bit of space and tries a pop. Scuffed it a bit but earns a corner.
Good news for Bob about Raphinha. Power failure for Thomas Edison Cavani?
A series of Palace corners
Really glad to hear that the Brazilians are available, although that does mean that Firmino, Fabinho and Alisson are also available for Pool.
How about that U.S. result Wednesday? What a strong finish and great substitutions.
I don't think they will play since they played their WC Qualifiers finished around 5:30 AM on Friday GDT. Probably will be rested due to jet lag
The scoreline really flattered the US. They went 1-0 down in the second half and just scratched back an equalizer. It looked at 75 minutes as if they were going to drop points again, but then the floodgates opened as Honduras began to throw men forward looking for a winner.
Spurs have done nothing going forward!
It's true - Kane hasn't had a sniff.
Connor Gallagher wearing Johnny Wilkinson's shooting boots
Oooh...Palace go close
Oh - Gallagher was in there against Lloris. Hugo with a point blank save with his knee.
It was quite a debut for eighteen year old Pepi.I agree that the result flattered the U.S.but a valuable three points and helps the goal difference
And Benteke needs to score from that header from the corner.
Nice double block by Lloris then Benteke heads wide from the corner
None of those Brazilians traveled. That's why they were going to be banned
A really crucial three points, for sure, but they're still in a precarious position on five points from three matches and with the two matches with Mexico still to come. Qualifying is by no means assured.
It's 0-0 at the half at Selhurst Park
Half time comes and the teams are deadlocked. Becky Lowe is delighted by the performance from her beloved Eagles.
Palace don't rush a throw in....and the whistle blows
Modern day half there....not many chances at all!
There's Ronny at Old Trafford!
Brillant stuff
Second half underway from Selhurst Park
What on earth is NBC doing...after this match they are going over to USA for pre-game while Car Auction is on NBCSN for 30 minutes and then back to the Prem!!
I guess they are transitioning over to USA for NBC to shut down
I sure hope CR starts. Best United signing in years
We're back underway at Selhurst Park. I need some Spurs goals right about now.
Spurs have a shot!!
That sounds about right, Dave. I'm guessing that USA and CNBC will be televisions matches once we enter 2022
Lucas Moura finds some room and tries one - Guaita's right behind it.
Will Spurs start the season with four 1-0 wins? Really boring
Palace trying to be too cute around the box
Pace wins a corner at the Gallagher end
I wonder why they're taking NBC Sports off air.
The coyote with a close range shot blocked for a corner by Rodon off a pass from Zaha
I know that Villa are going to be missing a couple of their players because of their exploits with Argentina. Their keeper Martinez is one of them
I am just upset that Fred isn't going to be banned!!!
I don't know why either...it seems to have a lot of sport and is watched by many
Oh dear - it's boiled over now as Tanganka pushed Zaha over and the Palace man retaliated.
A late tackle on Zaha....he reacted...lots of stuff happening
Fight breaks out between Zaha and Tanganga. Now a spat between the Coyote and Harry Kane
Only yellows after all of that
Bookings for Zaha and Tanganga
Yellow cards all round then.
I think that Zaha should have been sent off for the reaction. Ridiculous.
That was a rotten tackle.....all into the face
The rule of raising of the hands....neither did...but what they did to each other was worse than that
The other Villa player missing will be Buendia.
The challenge was a high rugby challenge!! They would have been sent to the Sin Bin for that
Great free kick by Gallagher but no one was committing to it. Benteke is a complete waste of space.
Agreed Dave. I've seen red given for those
I think Tanganga should have seen red
I've had enough of this one - bring on CR-7!
Rangers tie it up at St. Johnny with a spot kick.Rangers second on goal difference sandwiched between the two Edinburgh clubs
Tanganka is in again with a nasty one and he's off - Spurs down to ten men!
Tanganga with another challenge and is off
Again, he should been off before that
That probably wasn't a yellow
Spurs down to ten men .second booking for Tanganga minutes after being booked. Stupid foul on Jordan Ayew
Harry Winks being sacrificed with Ben Davies coming on for defensive cover.
A defender for a middie as Ben Davies winked on to the pitch.
I fear OGS won't start him....even with Cavani is out
I hope I'm wrong!
Will he wait and bring him on for the ovation!
OGS likes to wait to play players....he throws away points for doing that
Will Spurs concede their first Premier League goal of the season?
Worth remembering that Spurs still haven’t conceded a goal in the Premier League this season. It’s now over six hours since they’ve let one in, all told. They’ll do well to keep that record intact this afternoon.
Great block by Dele Alli
Matt went to Boston last night
He is going to a United bar for the match
If this result holds Spurs could be as low as sixth by Monday
Kouyate off and Milojojevic on for him.
Well done Matt. That sounds really exciting
Milovojevic on for the Coyote
I wonder where that bar is - when I was living in Boston, only the Irish pubs had the football on.
This one feels like a 0-0er, with Spurs dropping deeper. They really are a boring side to watch.
Ronaldo starts!!!
If Spurs drop points here, West Ham, United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton will all have the chance to top the table at the end of the weekend.
Cross from Tyreek Mitchell headed off the line by Regulon. Corner out for another
Wahay! I'm delighted to hear that.
Penalty to Palace
Bugger! Palace have a penalty now.
Geez....Matic starts too
PENALTY PALACE. BEN DAVIES CALLED FOR HANDBALL OFF A SHOT FROM GALLAGHER. VAR CONFIRMS THE CALL
Zaha to take.....ONE NIL
Zaha to take....and scores!
Palace in front 1-0!
Why bugger?
GOAL ! ZAHA SCORES FROM THE SPIT SENDING LLORIS THE WRONG WAY
United's line up
De Gea
ObiWan, Varane, Mags, Shaw
Matic, Pogba
Greenwood, Bruno, Sancho
and some other bloke
The United starting XI: De Gea, Maguire, Pogba, Ronaldo, Greenwood, Bruno, Varane, Shaw, Sancho, Wan-Bissaka, Matic.
First home goal of the season scored by Palace, first Premier League goal of the season conceded by Spurs, as tings stand all four Spurs League matches 1-0 with three wins and a loss
Why? Because Palace were one position higher than Leeds on goal difference. My rubric is based on the bigger sides beating the lower sides every weekend, so there is always the cushion of the rubbish sides below us. This result does us no good at all.
Fantastic news that CR is starting but not that Matic is
I'm pleased Palace took the lead. Leeds needs to go on a winning run and need to aim for a top half position
Palace have leapt up into 11th then.
Spurs could be as low as seventh by Monday. That's where they finished last season
Do the new boots have no laces? It looked like Moura just slipped it back on there. No wonder they're always flying off!
Steve's old mate in charge of Palace
Yep - it'll be a first win for Patrick.
Oh my - the new boy Edouard has just come on and he's netted a second!
TWO NIL!!!!
The subs scores within seconds of coming on
O'Donnell Edouard, the new signing on for Beneteke.
GOAL HE PUTS PALACE TWO UP SECONDS AFTER COMING ON
Let's hope that Dan James can score with his first touch tomorrow.
Edoard won a header off a long Spurs clearance then Zaha went o. A run down the left then his pass was controlled then well placed by Edouard
Another debutant for Palace as Olise on for Jordan Ayew
Another debutant to score at OT!
Rangers lead 1-2 at St. Johnny and are top of the SPL
Sure hope he scores today and often
https://thegreatestbar.com
The place that Matt is going
I guess the old United bar closed because of Covid....all the fans go here now
Both Ederson and Gabby Jesus start for Citeh this afternoon against Leicester, due to the Friday night reprieve for the South Americans.
Looks nice! It's amazing how footer culture has grown in this country.
AN LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes
Edouard has a brace! Wow!
Edouard..... scores another!
Spurs GD.... ZERO
GOAL. PALACE THREE UP. A DOUBLE FOR EDOUARD OFF THE BENCH ON HIS PALACE DEBUT. NICE FINISH BUT PALMED IN BY LLORIS
Excellent assist there from Gallagher - boy, I wish we'd gotten him this summer. He's a terrific buy for them.
That's it... Palace thrash Spurs
Now...let's have another home team in red thrash their visitors
It's over as Palace win 3-0, all scored against ten men. Spurs top, but surely not a few hours from now
That's that, then. Palace have thrashed Spurs 3-0. Didn't expect that result.
I think Gallagher is on loan from Chelsea
Fergie looks a little creaky getting out of his car.
Off for a walk on a lovely morning ahead of CRs second United debut
You've been spending a lot of time in Fredericksburg recently - are you and Elizabeth thinking about a move there? How far is it for you to travel?
If United better West Ham's result today...they will be top....to stay
Great ovation for CR-7 as he runs out for the run-out.
Of course it is Varane's home debut as well
If United get a penalty.....who will take?
Leno has been dropped by Arteta. Aaron Ramssdale starts, as does their new boy Tomayashu.
I assume that Bruno will - he's the club penalty taker. It would be too disruptive to change that.
I am back from a short walk...Shadow as very accommodating!
5Live saying that this match is being shown worldwide except for Afghanistan, North Korea.....and the UK
Teams are coming out at OT on the radio but USA are in the bloody highlights!!
MORONS!!
THEY ARE MISSING IT!!
BLOODY HELL
We've seen these goals already!!
I cannot believe they are doing this!!!
PATHETIC!!
THey had so much hype for it...and they miss the damn thing!!
Not even split screen.....bloody scandalous!
Back just in time for CRs second United debut.
No build up at all for the OT match!!
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
They're off from OT!
They kick off instead of kneeling...what a numpty
WE ARE OFF
SCORE EARLY CR...how about the 7th minute
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Man U v New U
MY MATCH
To answer Bob's question it's a five hour drive to Fredericksburg. We're not planning a move there. We stay at my sister in law's RV which is about a hundred feet from the rec room
One of the Longstaffs is on loan at Aberdeen!!!
He is the one that gave the Toon the lead when we were there
Come on, Skippy - let's have a hat-trick!
Bruno....finds Ronny....almost!!
Nice to see both teams wearing their traditional colors in your match. The seventh minute is the perfect time for CR to score
That makes perfect sense - it is a nice place to visit.
Welcome back, Bob. I just answered your question
I need a hat-trick scored by Ronaldo, Sancho and Greenwood
Coming up to minute seven
The 4s break forward...Joelinton hits a weak effort
The COCK is only working for the Brentford Brighton match!!
None of the other are working!!
We are planning a two week vacation starting October 3rd. We will be in North Carolina from the 5th through the 15th contemplating a possible move there. We will be at Elizabeth's aunt's house just north of Atlanta a few of those days
The Cock is being lazy. They need to work more matches
Ronaldo....swivels....whiff!!
The Toon Army gives him a chuckle!! They are right in that corner
Where in NC?
Great run in the box...First good moves from Ronaldo
I think he looks a little nervous
Into the side netting from CR from a narrow angle
There's the Ronaldo of old - a step over and then the jets past the defender. Into the side netting though.
Not sure what Brucey's game plan here is. Newcastle are playing like the Washington Generals against the Globetrotters.
Finally the Arsenal match is working
We will be headquartered in Andrews, but will be looking in the Hayesville area. It's about four hours from Charlotte
It's great that you're having a chance to travel now that the kids are out of the house.
LOL. Nice one, Bob
Steve must have been having kittens when it wasn't working....which is apt....when it doesn't work there is a little kitten's face
