A Big Sunday Doubleheader
It's a Sunday double header with interest at both ends of the table, starting with the Hornets vs the Gunners kicking off at 9 AM. If the Gunners win then they will move up to fourth place before the Man Derby kicks off from, the Etihad. A Hornets win would move them up to third from bottom, behind the Toffees on goal difference. The day concludes with the Man Derby from the Etihad kicking off at 11;30 AM. A United win would put them three pints behind third place Chelsea and leave Citeh with just a three point lead over Liverpool while a Citeh would put them six points clear at the top. I picked this picture because I feel it accurately reflects the mood of both clubs at this time. Join if you can for the all the action on USA.

What a start. it appeared that Manny Dennis had given the Hornets the lead eighteen seconds into the match, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
In the SPL Celtic won 1-3 at Livvy to maintain their three point lead over Rangers
GOAL ! AN EARLY LEAD FOR THE GUNNERS AS ODOR GUARD SNIFFED HIS WAY TO A GREAT FINISH
A well worked goal that illustrated the guy fin class between the two sides. A nine pass move that concluded in skillful fashion . A great one two between Odor Guard and a great saga player as the pass to Odor Guard was cheekily back heeled to Saka then back to Odor Guard , who beat Ben Foster with a great finish
Manny Dennis goes down off minimal contact from Odor Guard about a foot outside the Gunners box. Free kick Hornets
Free kick from Kuchop straight to Aaron Ramsdale
GOAL ! WHAT A GOAL FROM, KUCHO HERNANDEZ. NOW 1-1
A great volleyed finish from Kucho Hernandez off a great cross from Kick off a multi pass move down the right . The possession started with a long pass from Ben Foster to Joao Pedro wide right in midfield
As things stand the Gunners are now fifth place, a point behind United while the Hornets remain second from bottom a pair of points from safety.. The Hornets have played three more matches than the Toffees , but the Toffees have a tough schedule.Gunners have played two matches less than United but have some tough matches in hand
Hi David
As I texted, I will be in and out for a while
What a start to this game. Goal inside 18 seconds, nice goal by the Arse and then even a better one by Watford!
One question....why on earth are Arsenal wearing all red!!!
White shorts don't clash with black!!!
You and I need a different result here than the Dahlgren brothers
Morning, guys - thanks for getting us started today. I'm just getting to the early match with the LOB Break of Champions.
I am not looking forward to the derby match.....that is so sad!
Good Morning, Dave.Agreed 100%,. The Gunners should be wearing their traditional kits as they did in the early 80s when their former legend Pat Rice started for the Hornets.
Morning Bob
I have to admire that acrobatic finish from Chucho but come on, you Gunners!
I blame the weird kits that Arsenal are wearing. Why can't they wear white shorts today?
Good Morning, Bob . Here for an exciting start to the match. There should be more Prem matches like this
Agreed, Dave. We want a Hornets win, but the Dahlgren going for the Gunners
will the Dahlgren brothers both be rooting for the Spurs tomorrow? Bob definitely , but not sure about Steve
What a Louza, not a winner. Tame free kick straight to Ramsdale
ooh...Watford almost in again.
They look good today!!
Like they did against United!
Nice save by Ramsdale from Manny Dennis then Cedric the Entertainer forced to clear
Both sides looking dangerous; good match so far.
Again, Uncle Woy needs a winner, not a Louza as that was a horrible pass into the Gunners box
Long range shot from Cissy several feet over
Wahay! Young Bukaya Saka bangs home a second goal for the Gunners!
Gunners take the lead again
Nice move again
GOAL ! 1-2 GUNNERS . NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A SAKA PLAYER
More stupidity losing the ball outside your own box by Watford
Good match
Clever Boy, anything but as that great Saka player caught him faffing about then I missed the one two he played , but read about it in La Cazette, then scored with a finish that would have made TH 14 proud curling it in the upper 90.
Dave, Clevr Boy didn't learn that at the MUFC Academy, but at other clubs like Wigan and the Hornets
Magnus said he started it , so he'll finish it
Was Cleverboy a United Academy product or did you buy him for someone?
Gunners now in fourth place and the Hornets three points from safety
Clever Boy started with United, but has been a well travelled player. This is his third spell with the Hornets as he had two different loan spells with them back in the day
Was Magnus correct about the Saka goal?
Sure, he's been with other clubs far longer than he ever was with United, similar to Jamie Milner or Aaron Lennon for us.
The headline in La Cazette reads " Quel Louza, non winner", after that nasty trip on the Gunners striker
Clever boy had a season loan during the Foxes one season stay in L1 when Leeds was one of their opponents. He's been around a while , but was really young at the time too
I heard calls of "Blow Up Ref" about nine hours down the road for me. Do you know who that may have been?
Kamara with a photo finish challenge on Cedric the Entertainer. Never a penalty
Martinelli with a shot blocked for the first corner of the match off a multi pass move
A pair of stoppage time minutes
That pass from Louza was far too Louza as it found absolutely nobody
Gunners with a deserved 1-2 lead at the half
I'm happy enough about a 2-1 lead for the Arsenal at the interval, but I'm hoping for a few more Saka efforts in the second half.
The second half is underway from the Vicker's Road
Back on for the second half. Watford have only got one point from a losing position at half time. Hope that continues today.
The Hornets in their worst run of form form in 50 years. They were related from their first ever spell in the Second Division at that time
Bobo will not be pleased to hear that this is the Hornets last home match of the season against top half opposition
Big shout from the crowd as Ben White leaves a trailing hand in Hernandez's face. Not too much there.
Kucho Hernandez down off a challenge with Ben White when he back headed to Aaron Ramsdale. I think he's clutching his face , tryin g to get Ben white sent off . That type of behavior needs to be eliminated from the sport
GOAL AND WHAT A GOAL FROM MARTINELLI. NOW 1-3 GUNNERS
Lovely! Martinelli curls in a third goal!
Over and out for the Hornets - 1-3!
Big shout for a pen now - nothing doing.
That goal was pure class of a quick throw then nice one touch passing from the Gunners by Odor Guard and I missed a pass ,ut read about it in La Cazette, and then a n ice curling finish in the upper 90 from Martinelli
Steve will be interested to note that the throw was from a Louza Hornets pass.
United need to win to move back in to fourth place. Hard to see the Hornets coming for two down , if at all
Not exactly a photo finish as Kamara shoots well over for the Hornets
Clever Boy forces a save from Ramsdale after as not too clever clearance from the gunners keeper
The Portuguese Men of War tangle as Cedric the Entertainer booked for an elbow on Joao Pedro on an attempted Hornets break
Ah - Laca leaned back as he shot. Good chance for a fourth goal.
Gunners ripping Watford apart now. Full flow.
Agreed. This one is pretty much done and dusted. Sadly, the Hornets remaining home matches are against teams in the bottom half of the table. Uncle Woy may seer that as an opportunity to put some points on the board
Oh - Dennis with a chance there; nice block by our old friend Ben White.
Nice block by Ben White from Manny Dennis after the Gunners gifted the Hornets possession
Is that a Brucie moment regarding Ben White? Nice to meet you, to meet you nice
Uncle Woy makes the first Hornets change and Kayembe on for a Louza in a Louza of a cause
That was a picture perfect tackle by Kamara . What a great boat of defensive Saka from him
Nicolas Pepe coming on to replace goalscorer Martinelli.
First change from Arteta as Pepe is on for Martinelli
Don't know why the Arsenal players are time wasting. Go on and get a fourth goal already!
Oh - Laca went down in the box! Nothing doing from the ref.
Oh - Pepe strikes the outside of the post. So close to a fourth!
I missed the latest Gunners substitution , but read in La Cazette that Young Eddie came on for Old Alex
Off the post from Eddie then the rebound cleared for a Gunners corner
Uncle Woy with a Wenger moment with a coat. Did you see that?
Bugger! Sissoko gets another back. Really poor defending from Ben White.
GOAL ! CISSY PULLS IT BACK TO 2-3 FOR THE HORNETS
Now then - Arsenal need to see this one out over the next few minutes.
It was a comedy of errors that did not amuse either Bob nor Steve. It started with a poor cross field pass from Xakha Khan. Several passes later a lobbed pass from Kucho Hernandez found Cissy, who schooled Ben White then beat Ramsdale with a decent finish
Nigerian international, Kalu, on for Clever Boy. Pretty late to be making that change
A late, late change for the Gunners just to ruin Dave's whole morning. Odegaard off and Rob Holding for additional ballast.
Odor Guard taken off as the Gunners are Holding so that the Hornets don't rob the Gunners of points. Sound right , Bob?
A quintet of stoppage time minutes which is not music to the Dahlgren ears
i think you have missed some really tasty puns this morning
Just a couple of minutes to see out.
Oh - I've enjoyed them as always, mate.
Perhaps it's been more quantity than quality with those puns
Cheers, mate. The Hornets will Louza today . Is that what you want?
Just about there.
Manny dennis hasn't exactly been Dennis the Menace Today
Kucho Hernandez booked for stupidity, pushing down a player
Bit of gamesmanship now from the Gunners. I don't mind it.
I hate that there is always a need for refs to add a couple extra minutes to stoppage time. There's enough as is
Wahay! There's the final whistle. Watford with another loss. Now let's have a United win in the Derby.
I'll be back after a quick shower.
It's over and the Gunners hold on to win 2-3 at the Vicker's Road. Gunners up to fourth place while the Hornets remain second from bottom, three points and an inferior goal difference from safety
We conclude with the Man Derby from the Etihad and feeling more than a tad tentative.
Teams out on the pitch at the Etihad
Hi again Boys
I am just back from walkies in very mild temperatures!
Come on home Spring!
This is Mr. Positve here...but not Mr. Confident
I'm back from the shower looking forward to this one. Come on, you Red Devils!
No Shaw, Varane, Cavani or Ronaldo in the squad
Welcome back , Dave. It's been like Spring here since Tuesday. I think tomorrow is the last day of the Spring weather for here
Welcome back, Bob. We're going out for a picnic after the match no matter what the result
I'm in the same frame of mind as Dave.
The teams now out on the pitch at Maine Road:
Manchester City: Ederson, Cancelo, Laporte, Stones, Walker, Rodri, Silva, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Foden, Grealish. Subs: Carson, Sterling, Gundogan, Jesus, Zinchenko, Fernandino, Delap, Mbete, McAtee
Manchester United: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles, McTominay, Fred, Elanga, Fernandes, Pogba, Sancho. Subs: Henderson, Bailly, Jones, Mata, Rashford, Lingard, Dalot, Matic, Mejbri
I've been reading on social media that out Gunners friends are rooting for Citeh. Not great form, LOL!
United have a good recent record at Old Trafford. I think Dan James has won more Derby matches than Pep Guardiola.
Supposedly, CR 7 is out injured, or so the experts in thew studio have told us
They're off from the Etihad.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME.ON MAN U
We're away in the Derby - come on!
It's being played ant the Etihad and United and the away team has done better in this fixture in recent seasons.
Media are trying to stir up controversy
"according to Ralf"
Ronaldo is injured!
Accept it
Marcus Rashford won't be happy to be dropped in favor of young Anthony Elanga. We'll use him at Elland Road if you're going to keep him on the bench.
Rashford has been so dire... doesn't seem interested in playing!!
LOL, Bob. You may not ben happy at the misplaced passes , inconsistency, or mistimed runs. He could be of use though. Elanga has been in surprisingly good form of late
Marcus could join up with his mate Dan James. Any other players you aren't using? ;-)
I really hate how every talks so gaga about City and Pep
Even talking about him having kittens on the side line
That didn't take long
Rubbish
Sorry, boys - KBD nips in to slot home.
DAMN! KDB SCORERS A TAP IN OPFF A PASS FROM JACK GRELAISH. FAR TOO EASY
Rubbish defending
Not sure who Teles was marking there.
Thanks, Bob. Looks like a long afternoon.
It was Weekend at Bernie's , not Jack with the assist
I can't stand Pep....he is so pompous
Rash there on the bench telling Juan it's a Mata of time before he's off to ER
Oh - Fred was nearly in there for an equalizer!
Ooh...Fred almost in...he gets in some dangerous areas and normally misses
I wish he'd stop smiling so much...you're losing
OH! Good close range block by Ederson from fellow Brazi, Fred. Nice pass from Bruno
I wish Sancho would take on players more often
I would luv it!
At this rate Fred will be laughing hysterically
I wish the Three Numpties would stop talking too much
Bob, that may be a Rash wish.
City never fouls...how dare the ref blow a whistle
The Portuguese Men of War tangle as Weekend at Bernie's fouls Bruno during the weekend
Pogba...shooot!
United playing quite well but no end product
Miscontrolled by both Pogba and Fred in the Citeh box
Good to see United giving it a go here.
United have sort of been on top
The 3 Numpties say they have a bit of life
Is it me...but I think United are on top....except for the scoreboard
Clumsy challenge by Maguire on KDB, who made the most of it
Stupid foul by Maguire....I thought he would be so good for United after his displays for England
He has been rubbish!
I agree , Dave, since the goal. A you stated, just the end product is lacking
I can't stand how everyone talks about City....they can do no wrong!
They are still yapping about them
The Citeh goal has been their only shot of the match.
United ahead on expected goals by 0.37 to 0.15. That stat confirms what we've been saying
Pogba loses possession...he is so infuriating
Good save by De Gea... Foden fouls Maguire
Big shout for a pen with Maguire and Foden leaning on each other. Call goes the other way.
Nioce save by David from Harry Maguire then a Citeh foul called on the rebound. Pogba caught in possession
Not by the sounds of the Three Numpties
Agreed, dave. Pogba not up for the Man derby, of all matches but hey needs to be up for all matches
I think we'd be better off with the Three Stooges than the Three Numpties
Pogba needs to make a quicker decision there!
COME ON UNITED....HAVE AN END PRODUCT
The Three Numpties now going gaga over Citeh defecting the bottom club in the Championship in midweek, as if they had won the CL
A cave of McTomain poisoning during the weekend at Bernie's place as he falls so easily. That's a symptom for sure
YES!!
Sancho ties it up!!!
Thought he was taking too long...again
Oh, yes - that's what I'm talking about. Sancho with a lovely curler!
1-1!
WAY HAY! Sancho bites the hand that fed him as he scored with a superb curling finish. Nice pass from Pogba on the break.
I truthfully think United have been the better team
Not sure if dave will like the saying I used to describe the goal. Nor will Gunners fans
I hate how all Liverpool fans cheered for that
I agree, Dave. A deserved equalizer for sure.
Wow...Arlo said United are worthy of the goal...that's Anti-City...he will get fined
United need to do what Dave did earlier this morning
They need to be cleaning up. HEE HEE!
OH! Cross from weekend at Bernie's and a long range header from Foden clips the top of the bar. I don't think he meant that
Arlo still thinks United are lying about Ronaldo
Sorry, boys - KDB with a brace.
United cause their own problems again... and fall behind again
SO PATHETIC!!
BUGGER! KDB GIVES CITEH A 2-1 LEAD AT THE THIRD ATTEMPT. POGBA GIFTED CITEH POSSESSION,. THEN A GREAT SAVE BY DAVID FROM POHIL FODEN THEN A BLOCKED SHOT THEN KDB SMASHED IN THE REBOUD
Thanks, Bob. still plenty of time to come back. trying to be positive
So bad by Maguire...how does he keep getting the start!
KDB wins a corner off of McTomain
Still drives me nuts about how the goal came about...gave the ball away in the right back spot...then awful defending by EVERYONE in the bo
Play stopped due to a medical issue in the crowd
Pep going nuts with Cancelo and Rodri
Another medical emergency in the crowd!
It is happening all over the place these days....did it happen before but used to be ignored
Bloody Pep being the genius again
I think that it was the cas ethat medical emergencies in the past were ignored
How much time will be added to the half
3 goals....and a medical emergency...I bet the time will be only a couple minutes!
Play resumes after a delay of two and a half minutes. Does that mean five minutes of stoppage time?
I would ask SAF how much stoppage time. He's the best timekeeper in footballing history
Well wide by Foden after pogo gave away possession yet again and to KDB , o f all people. He did well to find Foden
United still look dangerous every time they go forward. This is a great match!
YIKES! Horrible shot from Sancho. Nice passing, but too many passes in the box then a horrible shot from Sancho
Welcome back, Bob. The good thing is that United tree still in this match
OH! Dave misses the clearance as he came out of the goal off a pass intended for Jack Grealish, hut Maguire cleared in the nick of time
Phoden wins a corner off of Elanga
OH! Great save by David from Mahrez as he cut in
An LOB blogging trio of stoppage time minutes
Great tackle by Maguire on KDB in full flow.
Cross from Bruno cleared for a corner by Rodri
Dave was right that they shorted the time - only three minutes of stoppage time.
Just back from lunch....United have a corner
I called it...added time was not enough for the emergency and three goals
Corner cleared
Ederson punches away the corner
Another corner....come on United!
John Stones blocks for a last second corner
