Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

"This way to the airport?"

If it wasn't completely obvious last night that Michael Owen was crocked, the scan today revealed serious damage to his ACL. He's out of this World Cup, and has returned to Newcastle where their doctors will decide about probable surgical repair.

Two other players had scans as well. Neville's confirmed that he can resume full training with the squad tomorrow and Rio's scan revealed no damage to hip, calf, or thigh so he'll resume his place, likely even for the Ecuador game.

neither i would think. you saw the incident. his injury came from nothing. just seemed to catch his foot in the turf which torqued his knee sickeningly.

Who would have thought Michael would become the creaky old geezer of the England set-up at only 25!

that's the great thing about owen. he's been around forever and he's 25. gotta imagine 5 great years left before the decline.

and getting rooney, crouch, gerrard, lamps involved as early as we have means that all of them have realistic propects of 2 more world cups, maybe 3.

i think it's magic.

one more thing about owen... the guardian reported that he's got significant medial ligament damage to add to the anterior cruciate ligament damage. basically, he's shredded his knee up badly. the paper says that he'll need surgery as soon as the swelling goes down enough and then at least 9 months off before he could play again. newcastle are well narked off about this as you would expect, but the fa are going to pay his wages through his recovery. no talk of compensating the 'toon though.
