And Liverpool are already 2-1 up at half time against West Ham after Zamora opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the season and Aggar and good old Crouchie scored for 'Pool.

Good Morning, I am here.
I will be following United on manutd.com and watching Spurs Everton.
I will be sitting at this computer for quite a while.

9:26 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'll be with you, watching Spurs and following the scores online. Good to have you, Davey!

9:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

When do your lot play?
I don't see them on the fixture list

9:46 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

We're up Sunday morning. It was originally scheduled for today but was moved back because of the mid-week fixtures.

9:55 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

So, Liverpool have picked up their first win of the season against the Hammers. 2-1 victory with Crouchie's goal winning it. Let's hope he's on the scoresheet next weekend too.

9:55 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

against who?

9:56 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wednesday away - local derby. It's on at the same time as the Villa match. 1:15 kickoff. BTW, we drew Barnet in the Second Round of the Carling Cup - not a bad one.

10:00 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Meanwhile, Cardiff have picked up an impressive win against Brum and are currently top of the Coke with 13 points from five matches.

10:01 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'll be cheering on ManYoo today - I hate Watford. They're total Route 1 merchants. Can't wait to see the backside of those wankers.

10:02 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I saw that. I don't like Cardiff.
I am sure you feel the same with Risedale at the helm.

10:03 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Looks like another late kickoff for FSC - they're really pushing up against the 10 a.m. kickoff time these days. The preview show just went off.

Did you catch Fox Football Fone-in? I was down in Gville and KC didn't manage to tape it for me, so I missed it. They don't seem to be replaying it much, whereas FC Fox is on every bloody day. To say nothing of the infomercials - sheesh!

10:04 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm trying to take a Zen Buddhist attitude toward those who have ruined Leeds, include Ridsdale. I never blamed him - or O'Leary - entirely for what happened. It was a bad confluence of events that brought us down.

10:06 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I did see a lot of it. It was pretty good. At least there was that stupid set in the pub.
I agree with FSC. I am pissed that they have dropped Skysportsnews this weekend. I always watch it and it isn't on Saturday or Sunday because of USL(?)
United just kicked off. Still line ups on FSC

10:08 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Watford just had a chance. Oh dear.

10:08 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

It'll be good to get a look at some of the England squad members today including Dawson, Jenas, Lennon and Andy Johnson.

10:08 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I've never liked watching matches from White Hart Lane. The camera angle is weirdly high up. They must have a really big stand on that side of the pitch. It's almost a bird's eye view of the pitch.

10:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

It's not that big of a stand. I went for a tour of WHL when I took a soccer team over to England in 1990

10:11 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Davids looks like he is wearing hiking boots

10:12 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Why is the camera so bloody high up then? I feel like a bloody pigeon watching this.

Come on, United! I notice you lot are starting with Saha and Ole up front. They're not going to win you the championship. Where the Roon?

10:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He is banned for the Charlton, Watford and Spurs game all because of that elbow. HE and WE GOT SCREWED!!!
Scholes is banned for the same games

10:14 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Edgar has always been a flash bastard. He started wearing those goggles when he had a face injury and just kept wearing them. I reckon he's got prescription goggles at this point. What's wrong with contacts?

10:14 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

No wonder Spurs sold you Carrick! With Jenas and Davids already on the books, how many bloody defensive midfielders does one side need?

I say bring back Ossie Ardiles and his 2-3-5 formation!

10:16 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh right, that is balls. How can you ban a player for getting sent off in a pre-season friendly?

10:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am bummed here. The radio from Manutd.com isn't coming in. It cut off after about a minute!!!

10:18 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And that elbow in Amsterdam was nothing compared with that Thatcher elbow during the week. Did you see that? That was attempted homocide! I see that Football 365 are selling t-shirts now that say "Ban Thatcher for Life!"

10:18 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You can get minute by minute text of the United match by going to football365.com, clicking on the "Live Scores" link and then clicking again on the United link.

10:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh dear, Skippy's just missed a sitter for you lot. I bet there were some catcalls after that!

10:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United have scored!!!!!
Silvestre

10:20 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Well done, Mickey! It did sound as if you were putting Watford under the cosh.

10:23 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Long may it continue

10:24 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And you lot have opened up a four point lead at the top of Prem. That's got to feel good. You usually start slowing and then strangle the opposition in the spring.

10:27 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am a very happy chappy.
Again, long may it continue

10:28 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Norwich are one-up against Barnsley. They've had a good start. I thought they looked good on the opening day against us and we were lucky to get a result.

10:29 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Are you listening to anything?
I am trying to listen to man utd but something is up with it today. I am going to try to listen to Sky or talksport.

10:31 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Everton aren't bad, you know. Nice build-up play.

10:32 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wow, sky is working. I haven't had it work for weeks. I have heard from you that this show is great to watch. It is fun to listen to.

10:32 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Nah, I'm just watching and listening to the Spurs-Everton commentary. I can't handle that much stimulation.

10:32 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What kind of defending was that!!! Classic.
A wallop off his own crossbar.

10:34 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Ooh, dear what a calamity for Everton. That one would've made the blooper reels.

And Colchester have taken the lead vs. Derby. That would give them their first points in the Coke.

10:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Colchester are two up against Derby

10:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Slow start today. United have the only goal in the Prem

10:34 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What do you make of the new FIFA directive to keep playing when a player is down? I'm not keen on it.

10:36 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Ooh, Kevin Kilbane was a lucky boy there.

10:36 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And Norwich are now 2-0 up. Well done, the Canaries!

10:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I like it. The players are taking advantage. There is to much diving and then rolling around. Players have started to stay down to stop a counter attack.
Spurs goal against the Arse last season was completly ok but Arsenal just complained. The Gunner went down with fault from Spurs and went to goal. WHY SHOULD THE GAME STOP!!

10:39 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Finally Kilbane is off! He might have gone a moment ago and he didn't learn his lesson.

10:40 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I don't know what the color guy is on about - that was a criminal hack from behind and he went straight through the player a moment ago and didn't even get a card for that one. Well deserved second yellow.

10:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

His first challenge was never a yellow but he should have never have made a challenge. There was plenty of cover

10:42 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bloody hell, Watford have scored

10:42 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Sorry mate.

10:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Oh be quite.... you're not sorry at all. In fact, take that bloody smile off your face

10:46 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Finally a goal in the prem away from Vicarage Road.
Wigan are one up

10:46 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bugger! I've got a soft spot for Reading. They lost in mid-week against Villa and now are behind again. It could easily go pear-shaped for them if Stevie Coppell doesn't get them right.

10:47 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

No really; I'm backing United today. I bloody HATE Watford. They did us in the Qualifying Final last year and they're bloody negative. I'd love to see you spank them badly today.

10:48 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Stunning, I am going to save that line. Bob Dahgren rooting for the right United.

Sotton are one up against Preston

10:51 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Now Colchester and Norwich have been pegged back by a goal from their respective opponents.

10:51 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Now the goals are flying in - Fulham are one up against the Blades. Good stuff! I hate them too!

10:53 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Half time: 0-0 Spurs and Everton. Not the best match so far. Looking forward to the Arse next.

10:56 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Finally, the radio on manutd.com is working. I have been so frustrated.

11:13 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Some early goals in the second half. Colchester have increased their lead against Derby to 3-1 and Wolves have taken the lead.

11:13 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, it must be frustrating not ever having a chance to see your side on the telly. Welcome to my world, Dave!

11:14 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

oooh, Watford just missed a sitter

11:15 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

BTW, they will be showing the ManYoo-Spurs match on 9/9 live.

11:16 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I know, but their next match against Spurs is on. GIGGS JUST SCORED!! I am sure that the Arsenal match is Sunday match is as well

11:17 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Well done, Giggsy!

11:18 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Everton up while playing with ten
Own goal

11:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh dear, what a disastrous own goal from Davenport. At least it wasn't Dawson. Spurs are one down.

11:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Looks like Berbatov is coming out - he's been anonymous for Spurs today and they've got plenty to spare on the bench.

11:24 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

just noticed that Palace are losing at home

11:25 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Have you heard that some of the builders on the Emirates Stadium project were Spurs fans and that they buried some Spurs shirts and scarves under the pitch? Nice one!

11:25 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, good stuff. Go on, Burnley!

11:26 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I did see that. Classic

11:26 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Cannaries are 3-1 up

11:27 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I think that the Emirates Stadium hoodoo for the Arse has more to do with the bigger pitch than the buried Spurs paraphernalia, though. It'll take them a while to get used to it. Reminds me of that season that they played the Champs League matches at Wembley.

11:30 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Useless by Jenas. I really don't see what everyone sees in him. He is hopeless

11:30 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Colchester are four one up.
Another goal for Everton!!!
We've only got ten men, we've only got ten men.

11:32 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Great goal from Johnson. Let's have some of that for England, Andy!

11:32 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I agree with you about Jenas. He had some promise when he was a kid at Newcastle, but he's really gone off the boil the last couple of seasons.

11:33 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bugger, Everton have cut our lead in the league to two

11:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And now the Canaries are 4-1 up!

11:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bolton have had a penalty saved at Charlton

11:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has scored the go ahead goal for Celtic.
That has to be the greatest name. I saw that Celtic put the whole thing(except Jan) on the shirt

11:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Canaries have scored a fifth

11:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Charlton have scored their penalty

11:38 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What on earth is going on down at Carrow Road - they're running riot!

11:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I want another United goal please

11:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Mark VanBommel is joining Bayern Munich. Does that mean Hargreaves is on the way to OT?

11:40 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, I reckon you are going to get Hargreaves. Pretty outrageous bit of tapping up, though, don't you think?

And I here you'll get Carlos Tevez in January after the Brazilian season is over. Maybe I'll have to revise my predictions.

11:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

both teams are playing with ten men at the valley

11:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I don't want to hear any chances. You picked us out of the top four!!! When is the last time we finished outside the top three? It has never happened in the Prem

11:43 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I know, I know, but you didn't do much biz in the summer apart from Carrick who I don't rate. But I had no idea that you were tapping up Hargreaves. BTW, why do you need him if you've got Carrick?

11:44 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Ten minutes to go... come on Utd

11:45 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Palace have equalized again against Burnley and it's now 4-2 at Colchester. What a ding dong!

11:46 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Hello....tapping up....any comments, Dave? Pointed deducted....hello...hello?

11:46 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Cambridge are losing two nil at home to Halifax. They may get relegated to same division as Cambridge City. What a demise

11:47 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I really don't understand why Spurs are this bad? On paper, they've got a tasty side. Any ideas why they aren't better?

11:48 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree but it has been Hargreaves that has opened up everything. How about Real and Bayern discussing Ruud? Same thing

11:48 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I don't understand either. Maybe because you picked them for the top four!!!!

11:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not as many goals as last week but still a goal in every game.
Four minutes from 9 points

11:50 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Absolutely, I'd have deducted points from Real and Bayern over that and for Chelski for the whole Cashley Cole saga.

Fifa have to sort it out. It's approaching a player directly while they're still under contract is illegal, then they should take some action. But to let the big sides get away with it again and again is just not right.

11:51 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Ipswich had a good away win last night.
They went one down to QPR in the second half but then had a dodgy penalty a couple minutes later and scored two more. About time to get their first win.
The united radio station just said Bayern still want Owen. He is replacing BOLLOCKS

11:52 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Another England squad member - Darren Bent - is on the scoresheet today. Good news and some tricky choices for McClaren next week. Who would you start up front? I'd be tempted to play three strikers against Andorra, with perhaps Crouch and Bent in the middle and Andy Johnson wide left where he's been drifting today.

11:53 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Well, don't start the punishment with United.
Bugger, Saha should have just wrapped it up

11:53 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm not entirely sure that Owen will ever come back to his original form, sadly. Too many major injuries.

11:54 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You still haven't answered the question of why United need two defensive midfielders.

11:55 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Sounds good with your England front line. It won't happen though. Of course, why do we need a defensive midfielder against Andorrra.
Bugger, four minutes of injury time at Vicarage

11:55 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Defoe should've scored there.

11:56 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

As for Carrick and Hargreaves, we need the depth in midfield.

11:56 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Colchester 4 Derby 3

11:57 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wow - a seven goal thriller!

11:57 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Everton have won it - I did not expect that result, especially after the Kilbane sending off.

11:58 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Everton have won at the Lane for the first time since 1985. They won the league that year.
28 seconds left at vicarage.

11:59 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

UNITED HAVE WON!!!!!
9 out of 9
Now, come on Citeh and Rovers!!!

11:59 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Another goal for Darren Bent against Bolton - is he staking his claim for next week?

12:00 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Well done, Dave. I'm going to pass the laptop over to KC for the next two hours or so, but I'll be checking in periodically during the Arsenal match.

Good chatting with you.

12:01 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Was he in the last squad or did he still have that hand injury?

12:01 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I will comment at half an full times.
Great to chat.

12:02 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Arsenal are unbelievable. They pass the ball wondefullly and then they don't bloody shoot!!! They could have had a half dozen. At first, I didn't think it was a penalty but after seeing it again it definitely was.
Come on CITEH!!!

1:30 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Well, obviously, I am thrilled. Arsenal have NEVER had a problem beating Citeh. They should have won by a canter. All I have to say is long may it contiue.
Same again tomorrow with Rovers and Chelski

2:11 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I bet you are thrilled. Boy, are Citeh ever modeled after Psycho Pearce, though. Corradi got sent off for an awful lunge last weekend, then there was that horrendous elbow by Ben Thatcher in the week and today they just niggled away the whole match. No excuses for Arsenal not pulling the trigger, but honestly, do we need another Bolton in the Prem?

Today's results reinforce in my mind that this will be a much more competitive Premiership season. I'm sure that Dave thinks ManYoo will run away with it, but let's see what happens when they have to play a team with a bit more quality than Fulham, Charlton or Watford. Early doors, Dave.

2:26 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I know it is early but... we have NINE POINTS!!!!
If Blackburn get a point tomorrow, THE ARSE would be in the relegation zone!!! If Rovers win then Chelsea will be in the second half of the table. Live is good!!!!
Come on, let me have some fun for a while.
