Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

A NEW FORMATION?

I have heard that England may be changing it up for the Macedonia match.
There is talk of a 3-5-2 formation to run out on the pitch at Old Trafford.
What are you thoughts?
Why stick with a five man midfield? Neville, Rio and Terry in the back?
Lamps, Stevie G., Carrick, Wright-Phillips and either Downing or Richardson on the left.
Roon and Crouchie up front?
What do you think?
Is this going to be the line up?
Your thoughts Gentlemen.

I reckon that will be close to the starting line-up, Dave, with Downing probably starting ahead of Richardson on the left and SWP coming in for the crocked Lennon.

Ideally England would play a 3-4-3 in this kind of match with a couple of the midfielders in forward roles and an out and out winger alongside the front pairing, but with Owen crocked that's unlikely to happen any time soon. I hear he's out until April.

As for the Argies, I think it's a load of crap. Tevez and Mascherano are clearly at West Ham as part of some creepy MSI deal to put them in the shop window. It's backfiring not because of some tactical decisions, but because it's so blatantly obvious that it's a scam that the team has closed ranks against the Argie boys. Tevez can't play on the left? Then what the hell was Pekerman sticking him there during the World Cup then? Honestly, do they think we're thick or something?

I just read that this formation is a possiblity. The only difference being Cashley playing the wing instead of Downing and Richardson.
Sir Trev, don't ever write things about Argentines under a THREE LIONS posting!!!!

Seriously, it is upsetting what is happening at Upton Park. They haven't won since they have arrived. It can't just be them. I really don't know what is going to happen. They better sort something out before they have a relegation battle on their hands. Remember, they were too good to go down the last time!!

One more note - I expect Macca to revert to the standard 4-4-2 for the mid-week match away to Croatia, probably with less width in the attack. Something like:

Robbo
Neville
Rio
Terry
Cashley
Carrick
Stevie G.
Lamps
Downing
Crouch
Roon

NewsFlash: Apparently Macca has backed away from the 3-5-2 plan for tomorrow's match. The rumor is that "player power" was behind the scuppering of the plan, although Macca firmly denies this.
