When Saturday Comes
Ah, it's Saturday again and I'm getting set to enjoy the 10 a.m. FSC match with Chelski - currently top of the Prem. - taking on the rising power of Villa under Martin O'Neill. Tasty.
Here are the other Prem. fixtures today.
Bolton vs. Liverpool
Charlton vs. Arsenal
Everton vs. Man City
Sheff Utd vs. Middlesbrough
And spare a thought for my Leeds boys away to West Brom. today.
Enjoy the festivities.

Wow! Bolton have already beaten Liverpool 2-0 in the early game. That really opens things up. With Chelski playing Villa - who I fancy to at least take a point off them, this is the most exciting Prem. start in years. Enjoy it, lads.
Here's the Chelski team for today:
1. Petr Cech
14. Njitap Geremi
6. Alberto Ricardo Carvalho
26. John Terry
3. Ashley Cole
5. Michael Essien
4. Claude Makelele
8. Frank Lampard
7. Andriy Shevchenko
11. Didier Drogba
16. Arjen Robben
Interesting. Cashley gets a game and there's even room for Arjen Robben. Jose's still sticking with Makalele and Essien - a bad sign. I hate the two holding midfielder trend in football.
And here's the Villa side:
1. Thomas Sorensen
18. Aaron Hughes
4. Olof Mellberg
19. Liam Ridgewell
6. Gareth Barry
12. Steven Davis
8. Gavin McCann
11. Stiliyan Petrov
15. Gabriel Agbonlahor
9. Juan Pablo Angel
22. Luke Moore
On paper, not much of a side, but Martin's got them playing way above their heads.
Bugger! I've just noticed on the 365 vidiprinter that Drogba's already scored in the third minute. Meanwhile on FSC, they've just kicked off.
And it's a really scrappy goal, with John Terry crashing into the Villa keeper Sorenson and Drogba scrapping the ball home. Graham Poll should have ruled it out for a foul on the keeper.
Has Sheva scored in the Premiership yet? I don't think so. Surely the fans will get on him if he doesn't score soon.
Soton are one up at QPR.
Oooh, great save by Sorenson from Lamps. It seems as if Frankie's got his shooting boots back finally. Just in time for the next couple of England matches. I want to see him launching a couple in for the Three Lions. Great start from Chelski.
Bloody hell, Villa have hardly had a touch so far. Chelski were nearly in there again, but for a bad bit of control from Sheva from a Geremi cross.
Nice effort from Petrov that stings the hands of Cech. Better from Villa. Under O'Leary they might have capitulated but they look like they still want to play.
Not a lot of scoring today - only still that one Soton goal and the one goal for Chelski in the Prem. Come on you Whites!
Great move from Chelski there. Drogba beats two with his strength, spreads it to Robben, who jinks past two, squares it to Lamps who pounds one into the keeper.
Oh dear, Darren Bent has scored for Charlton against the Arse. Gooner will not be well pleased. He's up in the mountains today without FSC coverage, which is probably for the best.
Good header from John Terry from a corner and Sorenson bobbles it. Sheva should have been round about for the touch in.
QPR have leveled it against Soton. Amazingly, there are still only three games with goals this afternoon, and we're approaching half time.
And Robin van Persie has evened it up for the Arse against Charlton.
Villa have lost Luke Moore to a shoulder injury and Milan Baros has come on. I don't know why Baros doesn't start for this side.
Suddenly we've got some goals in the Coke. League leaders Cardiff are one up now, along with Derby and Stoke.
Bugger! Leeds have gone one down to West Brom.
But yoo hoo Villa have equalized through a lovely header by Agbonlahor (sp?)
QPR now 2-1 up against Southhampton.
And Andy Johnson has scored again for Everton. He must be top scorer in the Premiership.
Baros has nearly put Villa into the lead. You have to admire Villa here. They've really stuck to their jobs here.
Half time 1-1.
Second half starting at Stamford Bridge and this one's nicely poised.
Barnsley and Leicester have scored two quick goals after half time and are at 1-1.
Derby are now two nil up against Southend who've now fallen into the relegation zone. Just ahead of them - Leeds (sigh). We at least need a point today.
Dangerous free kick now for Chelski....
And Sheva drives it dismally into the ground. He really looks off the boil.
Good take by Sorenson right under the bar with Drogba breathing down his neck.
Cardiff now 2-0 up against Wolves. Sam Hammam's boys look like this year's Reading in the Coke. They're off to a flier.
Van Persie's scored another against Charlton and the Arse are now 2-1 up. It's looking to be a good afternoon for them and they'll climb the table if things stay the same.
Excellent! Birmingham have scored against Leicester and they've now dropped beneath the Leeds in the Coke table. A little breathing space for us.
Huge scramble for Chelski. Good build-up work from Sheva.
Goals flying in in the Coke now. Palace are 1-0 up away and Keano's Sunderland are one-up.
Derby are now 3-0 up.
Excellent! Preston have equalized against Stoke, which drops them under Leeds as well. Lovely stuff.
Robben coming off for Chelski; he doesn't seem happy with it jogging straight down the tunnel.
SWP is on - let's see what the wee lad can do - I haven't seen him play since the Small-Star Game this summer.
Bollocks! Leeds now 2-0 down. It's hard to see them coming back from that deficit.
Hilarious miss from SWP - what a sitter! And Lamps tries to make up for it with a backwards header. Still 1-1.
Great shot from Sheva and a save from Sorenson.
Cardiff now 3-0 up.
If these scores hold up, it means that Everton have picked up two points on Chelski and are now a point behind them. United will have the chance to level things tomorrow when they play West Ham. It's a great start to the season.
And Leeds are now 3-0 down. Dismal. That should rush the board into making a decision. We've got a bit of a break with the Internationals coming up - no midweek matches this week. So that should give them plenty of time to appoint someone before things get too bad for us.
Cardiff now 4-0 up!
Geoff Horsfield has got back an consolation goal for us - his second of the season.
Two huge clangers from Graham Poll. First Baros and then Angel are pulled down by the last man back and Poll doesn't even blow up for a foul in either case. What a calamity that man is!
Angel could've finished Chelski off there with one into the side netting.
End to end stuff here. Now Kallou goes close but snatche at it and it goes wide.
Hi guys, I just got in from Rec Soccer.
Villa could have just scored the winner.
You know Chelski are going to score.
How has the game been.
FOUR BLOODY MINUTES OF ADDED TIME
Plymouth have nicked a goal away to Coventry and it puts them into the qualifying spots.
WTF! Steve Stone has grabbed a second goal and we've got a chance to get back into this one.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
Come on Leeds
Ah, shame. West Brom have scored a fourth.
Good to hear from you, Dave. You've got to be happy with that result for Villa at Chelski. Great match there.
I guess I should shut up.
Leeds just gave away #4
How was the footie this morning for you, Dave?
Chelski almost scored the last second header
Cardiff beat Wolves 4-0!!! Are they for real?
Villa really should've won it there. There were two fouls on Villa players by last man back which should've been straight reds, but Graham Poll is a big bollock. Didn't even call a foul in either case. Angel also had one into the side netting with minutes to go. Still, a good result for neutrals and for you lot.
Cambridge United beat Tamworth away. They are starting to climb up from the relegation zone of the Conference
I'm afraid you're going to be seeing more of Sam Hammam in the Premiership next season. Cardiff do seem for real.
Citeh score a last gasp goal at Goodison
Going to watch the Blades match? I'm off to get some work done.
Oooh, that makes it even better for you lot - and for Chelski.
Glad to Liverpool lose just a shame that it was Bolton. They are up to second!!!
I will watch some but I have to finish closing the pool.
Sorry I wasn't around. The Rec soccer goes on for another five weeks.
I won't be around for tomorrow's games either. I have my own game.
Good to talk to you if only for a bit.
I guess Van P. scored a cracker for the Arsenal
Great winner for the Blades
Absolutely. Fortunately I turned it on for a few minutes while I was having lunch and caught the Jagielka strike. A hell of a hit. I hate the Blades but I don't think one home win to Boro will make much of a difference at the end of the season. It gives the Bramall Lane faithful something to jump up and down for today but I suspect those same fans will be weeping come May.
aha, found the computer up here in the mountains. it's in a basement with no overhead light. they must be thinking that they'll finish it into an office.
wahey, chelski drop two points and from reading these comments were lucky and needed poll's non-intervention to escape. someone must stop drogba though. he's on a scoring tear and he's simply not as good as his record. he's just a big strong guy who the referees let foul defenders. i don't get it.
rvp saving our bacon today. lovely. i'll be back to watch the 8pm fsc wrap up on sunday.
i just spent the afternoon sitting in an adirondack chair with maradona's biography and then listening to the guardian and times podcasts. ahhhhhh!
Glad you got some access to the footie, Mountain Gooner. I tried you cell without luck - straight through to the answer service somehow and left a long message on the machine back in Goonerville.
Talk to you soon.
Wow, did you see RVP's goal on the wrap up? Crouching Robin, Flying Van Persie! Wallop!!!
