Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Becks Joins the Galaxy!

David Beckham announced today that he's joining the LA Galaxy at the end of the European season. Now sneer if you will about how his career is over or how Posh sealed the deal because she wants to lark about with the Paris/Lindsay/Brittney crowd, but the bottom line is that it's a GREAT deal for the MLS. It's a no brainer that he'll bring a greater profile to the league and will put bums in seats at the Home Depot Center next season. He's the perfect sort of big player to bring over - he's got a season or two in the tank and is a recognized star worldwide. Your thoughts, gents?

This is my brother Mke's take on Becks

What about the Beckham story?
What I love most is that his deal is way bigger then any of the other 'superstar' prima donna's in the premier league, the cole's, lampard's etc... he's still a bigger star then they'll ever be. They'll all be on to their agents saying get me the same deal as Beckham has ...... dream on.

It's the sheer weight of the deal in money that's surprising. $150mil?

You could get 30 Freddie Ljungbergs for that! Fa-fa-fa-fa-Fashion!!!

I must have seen it in GBPounds. It's still more money than he's likely to generate for or to MLS.

It is an astonishing amount of money and I'm not sure his legs have five years in them....but WSD reported that 1,000 season tickets were sold the morning the deal was announced. That is pretty impressive.
