AJ has a broken letter.

Did you hear that Fergie loaned young Rossi to his old club Parma?
He just scored the first goal of game against Torino. I don't know why Sir Alex didn't keep him

10:42 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

AJ has a broken letter?????
Sorry about that. I think he has a broken ankle

10:44 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Let the festivities begin......!

I'll be posting sparingly in an effort to keep you on the blog longer.

May the best side win and let's have loads of good goals, eh?

(Bad news about AJ for England; with wee Mikey injured, we might have needed him in the spring.)

10:46 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good Morning Robert.
I am going to slow it down a little as well.
Your prediction?

10:49 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

1-1

11:01 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

To who?

hahaha

11:03 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Off we go

11:04 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You are a witty lad. Look at that pitch! Spectacular! Remember what English pitches looked like in January back in the 70s?

11:05 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Absolutely.
The Baseball Ground comes to mind for some reason

Confident start by United

11:07 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Arsenal are looking shaky

11:08 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Arsenal haven't been over the half way line.
Rooney play on the left!!

11:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Keep it up you blues!!!

11:10 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yes, very confident start. The Arse look nervy. United pinging it about sweetly so far. But no real openings yet.

11:11 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

It took SEVEN minutes for Arsenal to have possession in the attacking half. That lasted for 10 seconds

11:12 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Do you like the blue kit? It doesn't seem very United.

Good noise level in the Emirates. I'd heard that it's often like a museum - away fans, perhaps? Or just the occasion?

11:16 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I don't mind the kit.

I have one of course.

It is the blue that United won the European Cup in '68

What happened there?
Nothing much

11:18 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Smart referring.
Did you see Lehmann running up?
I can't stand the way he runs up and joins in.

11:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

First flash point. Sensible decision from the referee. If anything, Eboue was more aggressive. I'd hate to see the game turn on a controversial card.

Silly yellow for Toure to pick up - kicking the ball away.

They have to calm down now.

11:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United have lost the control of the match for the first time

11:21 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yes, they're not going to get anything off Arse with the long ball approach from Van der Saar and the fullbacks. I don't understand why teams switch their tactics like that when they're working. They need to revert to the high-paced pressing game from the first few minutes. They're letting Arse into the game here.

The cards are coming now - Giggs in the book. Getting scrappier.

11:23 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Scholes is having a great season but he keeps losing the ball in dangerous positions.
He can't do that

11:27 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Decent chance there for Rosicky. I disagree with Robbie Earle. It might be a difficult skill for HIM to pull off, but Premiership level players should put a half volley like that at least on the target and make VDS work for his corn.

11:28 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Henry was looking for the pass there.
Why?

11:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That was Dahlgren-type finishing by Hleb

11:36 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I agree - he should've hit it. That's the frustrating thing about the Arse for their fans. At times it seems as if they want to pass it into the net.

And yet earlier he did have a whack from further out and a worse angle!!

11:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

TH-14 should have done better

11:37 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

That header should've gone back across the goal. That was Robbie Earle style finishing.

As for my shooting prowess, I never got that near to goal!

11:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Either did Hleb's shot!

11:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Didn't TH call people who dive "women"
Interesting

11:42 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

TH goes down - I reckon it's a clear dive. Bad stuff from the great man. Very, very late in going down and after minimal contact. Should've got a yellow card for that effort. And a 9.5 from the East German judge.

11:42 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United have to get the ball across the box

11:43 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Good game so far from Rob Stiles, don't you think? Very sensible refereeing.

11:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Again, the cross isn't there

11:44 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Absolutely agree about the ref

11:44 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Even though his name is Bennett

11:45 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Well....sorrrrrrry!

Nice backpass from Giggsy there.

11:45 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I called it the same thing.
BACKPASS

11:46 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That was a foul on Giggs

11:48 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Great minds think alike!

Coming up on half-time. I'm revising my pre-match prediction to 0-0. United haven't had a chance on target and Arsenal's shooting....well, the less said the better. It's back to the training pitch on Monday with shooting practice.

Hang on...dangerous free kick here....

11:48 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

They have had a couple shots.
Giggs' backpass, a Larrson shot
AND THAT ONE

11:50 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

AND THAT ONE

11:50 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Half time.

So far so good.

11:51 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wow, brilliant stuff from Mad Jens there. Two terrific saves in a row.

And that's half time. Whew! Happy?

11:51 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Off we go

12:06 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Surprised Roon didn't move inside for the second half

12:07 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good tracking back by Rosicky.
Why wasn't someone at the back post for the corner.
The commentator got it right saying that Lehmann always thinks he was fouled.

12:10 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Classic goal

12:14 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

First decent cross of the match and Roon buries it. Good goal.

12:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

NOW KEEP IT TIGHT FOR AWHILE

12:15 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm back to my 1-1 prediction.

12:15 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Better shot there from Rosicky but still wide.

You know for all the fancy flicks and stepovers, has Ronaldo beaten anyone today. Very disappointing performance. The cross that led to the goal was from Evra.

12:18 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I really like Vidic.
Reminds me of you.
A brick wall and wins every thing in the air

12:20 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

uh oh
RVP is warming him. He scares me.
DON'T LET HIM GO LEFT!!!!!!!

12:23 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Thank you for the kind comments. The bald pate wouldn't have anything to do with the resemblance, eh?

So, if you win this one, will you call the engravers?

12:24 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

on both accounts

12:25 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Van Persie for Hleb - good positive move there from Arsene. Hleb has been poor today. I haven't seen enough of Fabregas either.

12:27 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

If The Arse score I feel they will go on and win it

12:28 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

HIT IT!!!!

12:29 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

COME ON UNITED
Twenty minutes to go

12:32 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am more nervous now than when it was nil nil

12:33 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

oooh that was close

12:33 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Great stuff from Van der Saar - and he's nobbled now. Probably got caught by Adebayor there. Desperate defending from you lot. Nearly an equalizer.

12:34 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He got the ball kicked right in his face.
60,128
United can fit 16,000 more!

12:34 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Sit down Arsen Whiner

12:35 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Adebayor has been magnificent today - look at the effort to reclaim the ball there. And then Van der Saar wastes a bit more time. They should add ten minutes just to spite him.

12:36 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Shut it
Blow the whistle at 89

12:37 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I don't want to see United sit back.
It will be bad news

12:38 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Johnny Wilkinson time please

12:38 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Rio has been good today

12:39 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, he has been awesome.

More time wasting here. Add the minutes of, referee.

12:40 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The Beast is coming on.
You're not playing Liverpool!!!

Did you hear the joke on Fox Football Phone In?

A fan called Anfield to see what time it was.
Every ten minutes

12:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Blow at 88

12:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United need to attack

12:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Like that

12:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Saha for Larrson

12:42 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ooh, close

12:42 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Carrick has been solid today

12:43 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Come on United don't give it up

12:45 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You were right to be afraid. Very afraid of Robin van Persie.

Very similar goal to Rooney's in many ways. Good finish.

And a great goal for the Premiership. I know you won't see it that way, but without it the title would be settled in January.

12:45 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Again, Scholes fooling around with it.
I called it

12:46 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh dear, handbags between Ronaldo and Eboue....and Skippy ends up in the book. Well done, Mr. Bennett. Not so good yesterday with Wisey though. Boo.

12:49 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Four minutes of added time
AGAIN, Scholes is phaffing about with the ball. GET IT OUT

12:50 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Rosicky with yet another useless effort. Honestly!

12:50 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Phaffing about - I like that.

Skippy's off - good riddance to bad Portuguese.

12:51 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Now it is Carrick in the middle.
KEEP THE BALL MOVING!

12:51 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Come on United.
Get a sucker punch

12:52 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Gooner's comment when the goal went in - "at least it was Rooney." My sentiments entirely. I want to see that kind of finishing against Israel in March.

12:52 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Where is Gooner?

12:53 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Language, Wayne, language! Come on, there kids out there lip reading!

12:53 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I don't believe it!!!!
I called it

12:54 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

In his Gooner bunker jumping up and down as TH-14 buries ManYoo's dreams today!

12:54 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Where's the marking?

12:55 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You did call it - a "rare headed goal" from the big man.

12:55 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The ref has to add some time now, right?

12:55 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Congratulations Steve and Chelski.
Are the other two still in it or is it still a two horse race?

12:56 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am sick as a parrot but at least we didn't lose any ground to Chelsea.

12:57 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Here I am. I won't gloat, but obviously I'm very happy with the result. United's the best team that we've played in simply ages, possibly since the the away fixture.

The pluses include the strength of the self belief in our squad when we went a man down, Clichy's containment of Giggs and Ronaldo on occasion, the awesome running and effort of Adebayor, two feast-on-a-plate crosses from Eboue, and after some really bad finishing by Hleb, Rosicky, Fabregas, and Flamini, the two guys that stepped up were forwards, RVP and TH14.

The minuses included our over-elaborate play 20 yards from the goal, and Eboue's cheating. Believe it or not David, his behavior is lighting up the fan forums with calls to cash in on his indisputable potential and sell him before his behavior is picked up by the ignoramouses of the press and broadcast media who will pick and pick and pick at this scab until some thing bad happens. Because he assisted in both of our goals, he won't be piloried. But if we had not scored, I'd have called for internal disciplinary action. We got rid of that jakey Jermaine Pennent because he was a bad lad and Eboue, while not a rozzer-botherer, is going down the same road.

I disagree somewhat with your comments on the Neville foul on Henry. There WAS contact and TH14 had momentum. Neville was able to pull out so it was minimal, but he caught TH14 nevertheless. Now, given that Neville is a limited footballer and that he can't tackle properly, that the contact was minimal, and that Henry was brought down in the least dangerous area of box, I think Bennett gave the most just decision if not the one strictly per the rules of the game. If he'd given the penalty, he might have had to send Neville off, too harsh and possibly ratcheting up the rancour beyond what he could handle through the rest of the game. If he'd carded Henry for diving, he'd have committed an injustice because there was definite contact. Where I agree with you is that Henry should have got up and got on with it rather than appeal for the penalty. It's beneath a player of his style. We'll leave that sort of crap to Drogba, Diouff, and their ilk, thank-you.

I thought Ferdinand was monumental today. If you could get that level of concentration for every match, he'd be on the level of the world's best. I also thought that Evra justified his inclusion ahead of my grudging favorite, Heinze. And Bob's right, when your goal went in, I did think, at least it was Rooney and not that whiney twat Skippy.

You'd have preferred to put some distance between you and Chelsea sure. But are you really worried about those hosers? They're deluded enough to think that it's just Terry being out that's the problem? Anybody care to remember him in Germany when he didn't have back-knack? Strictly MLS. And unless Rob Stone is completely stoned, it's possible that they're looking to Onyewu to bridge the gap. Yes please, that would be just great as far as legions of Yernited fans, Scousers, and Gooners are concerned

Note to Jose - Invididual talent does not make a Premiership Champion. I wouldn't call the ingravers just yet, but if you had their phone number handy, I think it will save some time.

3:57 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Whoops "went a man down" should be went a goal down.

3:58 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

S**T! RVP broke his foot. Add that to the minuses for sure.

4:08 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

May I just add that Leeds played the best side we've played for several weeks yesterday and gave them a hell of a match? No? Oh well, then - looking forward to those monumental away fixtures against Port Vale and Yeovil Town next season. Good luck to the likes of ManYoo, Chelski, and the Arse - we'll see you back soon. But for now, Division 1 here we come!
