Saturday, Saturday, Saturday!

My Leeds have been saved a near inevitable thrashing at the hands of Birmingham by a rubbish pitch, but there are still plenty of games of interest on today. In a few minutes, FSC will broadcast Chelsea vs. Wigan followed by Blackburn vs. Arsenal at noon. Join me?

In the early game Liverpool have tonked Watford 3-0 with a brace from Crouchie and one from Bellamy. That pushes them up into third place and should take the sting out of those two games against the Arse.

Oops, we both posted at the same time.
We will use this one.

United bring back Scholes, Vandersar, and Vidic
Larrson gets his league debut. Saha is on the bench.
Giggs is replaced by Park but everyone else looks good.

9:53 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Heya, Dave! Sorry about that. So Larrson rather than Saha, eh? What do you make of that?

Here are the other matches in the Premiership today:

Bolton v Man City

Charlton v Middlesbrough

Chelsea v Wigan

Man Utd v Aston Villa

Sheff Utd v Portsmouth

West Ham v Fulham

Because of my mojo, Leeds will not lose today.
There is a big game with Hull and QPR
Barnsley should struggle against Preston.
A draw and a loss, what do you think?

10:01 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Absolutely. Charlton vs. Boro is a dogfight too. Boro could easily get dragged into the drop zone. I still think it's between Wigan and the Blades for the drop, though. The Hammers should dig themselves out.

10:02 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wow, there are more than two of us!!
Welcome Trev, of course you will scarper off soon.
As for Lars instead of Saha, I just think Saha is given more time.
The match has started at OT.
COME ON YOU REDS!!

10:03 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

A draw and a loss would suit me just fine.

10:03 AM

Good luck to the Hammers, Sir Trev!

YES,
PARK SCORES FOR UNITED

10:13 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh, Quashie - yeah, I love that name. Although, commentators usually pronounce is "Qua-sea" for some reason. Good signing.

10:15 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

As for the WH signings
I know him.
Nigel QWAZIE(well, that is the way you pronounce it)
He is a Scotland international(with an English accent)
He played for Pompey under Happy 'Arry.
'Arry brought him to Sotton with him.
Then he went to WBA
He is a touch central midfileder.
Speaking of central midfielder... Carrick has score his first for United.
TWO NIL

UNITED ARE ALL OVER VILLA

What a crappy goal from Lamps

10:18 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The Tractor Boys are losing to Keano's boys

10:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh, that was a rubbish goal from Lamps. What on earth was Chris Kirkland thinking? Why don't we have any decent English keepers anymore?

So both top sides are leading already. Where's the fun in that?

10:19 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

uh oh,
Fulham are winning at Upton Park

10:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm going to have to write FSC about showing games live. I read about Lamps's free kick a good three minutes before they showed it going in.

10:21 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Totally agree.
They seem to catch up at half time.

10:21 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

10:28 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What do you mean doomed?
If the score stays the same they will have the same amount of points as Leeds!!!!

10:29 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

We're doomed too, eh?

10:29 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Jose Mourinho seems to think that Essien can play anywhere. Today he's playing at Center Back. I'm surprised that he doesn't have him selling pies at half time!

10:31 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

AND their goal differences are the same -22
YIKES!!!
By the way, United's GD is +36

West Ham have tied it up

Sorry about that double posting.
It is delaying badly when I post

10:37 AM

Yes, it's only alphabetical order now that's saved us. One more goal for the Shrimpers and we'll be at the lowest league position in club history. (sigh)

Mickey Adams should be in real trouble at Coventry. They are four nil down at home to Palace.

Evra is off hurt.

10:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Sorry John

10:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Evra is back on.
He has been very good for United.
After last season, I didn't rate him.
He is keeping Heinze out of the team.
There is talk of Gabby going to Inter.
I don't want him to leave.

10:45 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Rooney almost scored!!!!

Blogger United We Stand said...

Coventry gets a goal back before half

10:49 AM

Half time at OT
THREE-NIL
Very satisfying.
Could have been many more.

10:50 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

QPR are edging Hull at the moment - I suppose that's for the best. It does keep us four points from safety.

10:55 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Funny story - Steven Cohen apparently put one of those gigantic Wallbangers things with a Chelsea crest on his garage door of his home in LA and the neighborhood association complained and had him take it down!

10:58 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I did tell you that the boys' uncle got them a Wallbanger.

A Ronaldo and huge crest.
Lovely sight

Yes, Benayoun has knocked in a second for West Ham - they're 2-1 up!

Took them 14 seconds to score

11:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What do you think of the news that Capello says that Becks will never play for Real again? He will train with them but not play.
Will he go to the Galaxy on loan for the beginning of the season. Or somewhere else?

11:10 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Hard to say. The announcement was that he'd join them at the end of the Spanish season, so perhaps he'll stay fit by training with them but won't play in the first team. Shame.

11:12 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Villa have scored.
Bugger

11:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

They better not give another goal away

11:23 AM

Bugger
Three nil
United have shot saved off the line

11:29 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Robben is absolutely ripping the poor Wigan defense apart. Good stuff ending up with a deflected goal off Kirkland. He's been to blame for two goals today.

11:30 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Did you get my email about Jose? Scary stuff, eh?

11:32 AM

Charlton have let two quick goals in

Larsson off for Solskjaer
Carrick off for O'Shea

11:41 AM

Villa should be pleased with this second half.
Let's hope they start playing better.
United don't play them again

11:45 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Yes, Pompey have scored

Four nil to Chelski

11:52 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Drogba has gone ahead of Ronaldo in goalscoring list

11:52 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

At last a decent goal for Chelski. Good cross in and a good header from Drogs. 4-0.

11:53 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

They win Four nil but still not impressive or entertaining.

11:53 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

NOT GOOD NEWS AT ALL!!!!

12:03 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I've just had a singalong to "Leeds United Calypso" and I'm back.

Here are the sides for today:

Blackburn: Friedel, Ooijer, Henchoz, Khizanishvili, Neill, Emerton, Savage, Mokoena, Pedersen, Derbyshire, McCarthy
Subs: Brown, Kerimoglu, Nonda, McEveley, Peter

Arsenal: Lehmann, Hoyte, Toure, Senderos, Clichy, Hleb, Fabregas, Silva, Rosicky, Henry, Van Persie
Subs: Almunia, Julio Baptista, Flamini, Djourou, Adebayor

12:20 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Talksport people are saying that Graham Poll was useless again at Upton Park.
Don't know where five minutes of injury time came from. Fulham scored in the plus three

12:25 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Sorry Steve but
COME ON ROVERS!!!!!

12:27 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Ooh, that should have been a goal

12:29 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Close thing there for the Rovers. Arsenal really need a classic center back to handle those set pieces. Should be meat and drink for Premiership defenses and yet they give up a lot of goals at corners.

12:30 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Gilberto is off.
Savage is always involved in stuff

12:31 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What? Oh, that was absurd. A nasty challenge from Robbie Savage, Gilbo reacts in anger and gets a red card. Silly silly decision. Savage is a thug.

12:32 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am fed up with them always complaining about the foreigners being the divers
HE IS WELSH

12:33 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

This is the sort of game where Arsenal need to show their mettle. Cold wintry day up North, away from home, a physical side. They'll need to dish some out here and get stuck in.

12:34 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Blackburn are playing the Arse too high up the pitch. They're gonna get burned by TH-14 and VP before long, mark my words.

12:51 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bugger.
The Arse score.
Should Lucas Neil been sent off?

12:55 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Now you have to admit RVP dives just as much as some others

1:01 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Really - you didn't think Neill caught him? I did. Should've got a red.

1:03 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am not saying that one.
I am talking about the free kick won outside the box.

1:05 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

1. Referee was completely correct to send Gilbo off. If Gilbo doesn't react, Savage gets his customary yellow and we stroll on. Now it's a slog without our best defensive cover in the mid. Paul Walsh says that it was a two yellow affair but he's dead wrong. Gilbo lashed out and he deserved to go. And he's stupid to lash out. Who doesn't know that that kind of provocation is the only thing Savage can offer. He's a shit footballer and a obnoxious little thug.

2. Neil should go. He was the last man back and a carthorse like Henchoz is the same as no cover at all. Ref got that one wrong.

3. Kolo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1:17 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Second half starting. I reckon your lot can see this one out, Gooner.

1:23 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Blackburn fans chanting "Soft Southern bastards - you're only soft southern bastards." And then the Arse fans responding - I can't make out the chant though. Good moment, though. You just don't get that atmosphere back here.

1:27 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

If you can get three points from the first three and then beat your relegation opponents you'll be in decent shape. On their display today, Wigan should be joining in the drop zone soon.

1:44 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Matt Derbyshire misses his second sitter of the match - this one seems to be petering out. Even Arsene can't be bothered, yanking off Van Persie, who's been Arsenal's best player. He's gonna defend the one-nil to the Arsenal.

1:45 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What a classic TH-14 goal. Incredible. Goal of the season contender!!!!! WOW!

1:46 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Nasty challenge there from Tugay. Caught Fabregas on the knee and then dragged down his ankle. X rated. Should've been off there.

1:58 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Full-time: A good 2-0 win away for the Arsenal. It's the sort of game that they hate but need to win to keep the pressure on the big boys. It'll put them back in fourth position, hopping over Bolton.

Excellent blogging with you lot today. Maybe the ManYoo hoodoo on LOB is over, Dave?

2:10 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I wasn't knocked off the computer but kicked out the roon so the boys and friends could play Wii.
Great second goal from TH14
I agree about the tackle on Fab was bad.
I was hoping he couldn't continue and not play next week.
It was good that I wasn't kicked off.

See you for some of the cup games on FSC mid week?

Have a great weekend.
Dave

2:13 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

"Kicked out of the Roon?" Is that what happens when you cross Mr. Potato Head? Kick in the goolies for your trouble?

Definitely check in with you midweek.

2:33 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Excellent result over the X-rated Rovers. Sparky seems to have rented the Vinnie Jones version of Mean Machine and taken it to heart. Neil, Tugay, Savage, that other Antipodean tosser, they're butchers, not footballers. Credit Piltdown Sam, very few of his Horde are the hatchet men that Sparky turns out.

So yes, very happy to have finished the series of matches against them. And may they struggle and rot for the rest of the season. Disgusting.

One more note. The player that Arsenal wanted but got turned down before we brought Henry in? Barn-door Nonda!
