Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Half time and we're up 2-0, but the Salvadorans offer nothing in the way of opposition.

Bocanegra should be off for a scything challenge that was just unprofessional. Bradley's also on a yellow for a poor tackle.

Beasley's goal was a slow dribbler that must have been seen late by their keeper.

Dempsey should have scored and was unlucky.

Felhaber's cross was handled by their defender and Donovan after his usual Vatican rag routine, needed two bites at the cherry because Bradley encroached so far into the area it was not clear who was actually taking the penalty.

I don't have a computer near my TV that gets the FSC so I'll be away until the end of the match. Back then.

Hello, hello.

4-0 was the result and after withstanding a bit of a surge from El Salvador, we ran out very deserving winners and good value for that 4-0 scoreline.

Good news for the Gator, Double-T came on and picked up the best goal of the game for the third US strike. He had other opportunities but he just looks a bit over-eager at the moment. Perhaps a cuddle from the Coach might settle him down a bit so that he feels like he can settle a bit on the ball.

Beasley picked up his second after some neat interplay between Felhaber and Dempsey who looked much more at home on he right side of midfield instead of leading the line. Credit coach Bradley for making that switch.

Shouts out again to Felhaber and to Spector who were really good tonight.

Onyewu? Well, he's leading the team in cards, 3 in 2 matches. Clearly there's a better option in this squad and certainly in a larger squad that includes Conrad to name just one.

Donovan, played a half and looked OK against noticibly poor opposition. A small-track bully? Survey says "just about."

Roll on the QF against third place in Group C. That's a wild situation with Panama on 4, Honduras and Mexico on 3, and Cuba on 1 point. Cuba wins tomorrow against Honduras, they'd be 3rd. Mexico lose against Panama, they'd be out. Tomorrow night is really the night to watch this tournament.

Thanks again to Gooner for keeping the Gold Cup fires going. Unfortunately every game so far has been played on a worknight for me, so I was on the road back to Jax last night.

I have been reasonably impressed by the U.S. team so far, although it must be said that Guatemala and El Salvador are the kinds of teams that we should beat at a canter and T&T fielded a third string side on Saturday due to a wage strike.

Looking forward to following the matches tonight. I fear that Mexico might place third at meet the U.S. on Saturday in the quarters. Would love to get Cuba.

I also just heard that GolTV have exclusive rights to the Copa America stuff coming up; hoping that Telemundo or Univision will show some of the matches too.

It's been very quiet from Scotia, NY recently - no love for the U.S. game, Davey?
