Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

1-0 was not good enough against Guatemala.
My points.
Onyewu is too clumsy to be considered for the National team. His massive physicality is one thing, but over and over again he either ploughed into Ruiz or was naive enough to get caught in one-on-one confrontations with him. He's gotta go.
Donovan is not captain material. In light of his refusal to be a part of the Copa America squad, his only option was to turn it on big time in this secondary tournament. He should settle for nothing less than tournament MVP, and he was anonymous last night. He's gotta be benched and stripped of his captaincy.
Coach Bradley needs to be able to read the game better. When Onyewu finally got his yellow card after repeated infractions, he should have thrown Demeritt on immediately. Watching idly by as Gooch continued to plough dangerously into his second red was criminal.
I thought that Felhaber continued his run of good games, though he was never likely to show as much as he did against China because of Guatemala's 4-4-1-1 formation where the space in the middle was very limited.
Beasley was lively, but really should have had one for himself when he had a gaping goal in front of him. Likewise, Twellman must score those open look headers. I believe in TT, but he must score to keep himself ahead of players like Johnson who isn't scoring for the Nats, but is ripping it up in the MLS.
Roll on Trinidad on Saturday.
Thanks for the summary, Gooner. I raced back to the conference hotel with Chinese takeaway in hand only to find that the Deuce was showing the Crapids vs. Houston. Looking forward to seeing Saturday's match, at least on taped delay.
