Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Candidates Choose their Favorite Telly

I know it sounds trivial, but sometimes these cultural questions provide interesting insights into the ways in which the campaigns are positioning themselves. So it is with the latest list of the current Presidential candidates' favorite television programs. To wit:

Hillary Clinton - Grey's Anatomy, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars.

John Edwards - "Watching Fred Thompson on 'Law and Order'"

Dennis Kucinich - The Tonight Show, Letterman, Daily Show, Colbert Report.

John McCain - Prison Break

Barack Obama - Spongebob Squarepants (presumably with the kiddies?)

Mitt Romney - Lost (hip choice for a square dude.)

Fred Thompson - ESPN Sportscenter

Anyone's mind changed by this information?

I think we could've all guessed these picks, except Obama's . . . Hillary, playing it prudent, covering all the bases . . .Mitt, trying hard to be cool . . .the KMan, the hipster . . . Freddie, lacking the attention span for anything more than sports highlights . . . The Debate last night was good fun . . . poor John McCain, can't help himself, although all of his handlers are dying for him to stick to script, he can't help but talk intelligently about the nuances of immigration reform. . .

Gator B and OT, what's the name of the female jazz recording singer you and Mel were recommending on Sunday?

I like Edwards' answer because he was taking the piss to a daft question.

If I'd have been asked, I'd have said that there hasn't been a good comic moment on television since Rudy's turn in a frock on SNL. Just keep giving those rockheads a dig whenever you get the chance. Well done Edwards.

Thanks for the breakdown of the debate, Trev. I missed it since I'm in San Diego this week. I heard from a Republican buddy that Huckabee stole the show but I'm finding that hard to believe. Also heard that Romney and McCain got into it on the issue of torture.

With all the corruption that Wayne Barrett of the Village Voice is turning up on St. Rudy, it looks more and more like his campaign is going to crash and burn and that Romney may be the chosen one. Scary thought.
