Meet the New Boss!
It's Fabio time! Yes, the FA finally confirmed the news that all of already knew: Fabio Capello has been hired as the new England gaffer. The good news - he's a bona fide winner. The bad - he's a cynical sod who represents the worst in high-stakes footer today. That said, if he whips together a side that can win in South Africa - all's forgiven, right?
Your thoughts, gents?

Absolutely right. If he can find a format for England to succeed, that's fine with me.
By the way, I saw that someone had photoshopped a fez on to his head for the Guardian and yes, he's a dead ringer for Tommy Cooper.
Proprio Cosi!

"Propio cosi" = "justa like that" - hilarious!
The bad news is that the English tabloid media is already doing what they do worst, digging up old pictures of Capello in compromising positions and chasing him to the Italian/Swiss border the other day with a flotilla of cars.
I saw that picture the other day. The spitting image of Tommy Cooper--just like that!!!
Classic!!!
I think he's a strong enough character to withstand the silliness from the tabloids. Especially if he gets off to a good start. He's held off the very aggressive sports media in both Italy and Spain, places where there are multiple sports papers that publish daily and have a real hunting instinct.
If he can get together a strong 16-17 player squad with a couple of spare defenders, midfielders, and strikers that he can bring in for a match or two to spell the injured, I think that the players will be open to his tactical nous. All of the best choice English have been exposed to non-British coaches like Mourinho, Wenger, Benitez, Ramos, Queiroz, SVE, and their emphasis on tactics.
So it's not like they haven't faced playing in a system before. Capello is likely to shore up the defense and tighten up the midfield. And hopefully, cut out the dead wood and gradually bring some new players through.
And if he does that successfully, he'll have a bunch of lapdogs instead of a hostile press.
By the way, I think he should at some point in his press conference, use the phrase, "just like that."
Klinsi gave himself about 2 years of immediate goodwill by showing up to his first press conference wearing the diving mask, and Fabio could soften up his image with the same kind of self effacing move.
