FIFA Club World Cup 2007
Have any of the rest of you noticed there's a quixotic little tournament going on now in Japan called the FIFA Club World Cup? What are FIFA playing at with scheduling club tournaments at the height of the European season? I'll never figure it out but if you have suggestions, fire away. And if you're keen to catch cracking match-ups such as Sepahan vs. Waltekere United or Etoile Sportive du Sahel vs. Urawa Red Diamonds, check your local FSC schedules - they're playing several of these gems at 5:30 a.m.!

Remember this is the tournament that United got hammered for in 99-00.
I have no idea why it is played now. They even had to rearrange Milan's group for the Champions League fixture.
Did Liverpool have to go a couple of years ago?
Is that it? Have they changed the name? Didn't it used to happen in January? I do remember ManYoo taking a hammering for declining to defend their FA Cup title in order to swan off to Brazil for this load of bollocks. So I suppose Milan are the European competitors then? Couldn't happen to an uglier lot. I hope Kaka gets crocked by some Asian clogger.
Here's the quiz for you. Name the countries that these sides are from:
Pachuca
Waitekere United
Etoile Sportive du Sahel
Urawa Red Diamonds
Sepahan
Go on, have a go!
Mexico, New Zealand, Egypt, Japan, Iran.
Yes, I've been catching the second half before running out to work. It's a lot better than those ab workout shows that the FSC runs out.
It's a lesson in class though. Sepahan just handed Waitekere their asses in their match, only to be completely waxed by Urawa in then next round. Not really sure that this is the lesson that FIFA had in mind: watch these mugs will you before the round where it really gets going?
Full points, Gooner. The tournament seems to be a bit rigged though, as it appears that Boca Juniors and Milan have got byes through to the semi final stage, which almost assures a match-up between the big boys in the end. Why not just have a one-off like the Toyota Cup and have done with it?
