We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
King Kev is Back!
Yes! Old Badger Head is back in the Prem. where he belongs. Newcastle announced today that Keegan will lead the side with fellow Magpie great Alan Shearer as his assistant. Get ready for the onslaught of a seven man attack and scorelines of 6-4 and 7-2. Should be grand!

I'm going to use this post to continue the thread on the Cup replays this afternoon. FSC is showing the Citeh vs. West Ham replay, while I'm sure that they wish they were having the Newcastle vs. Stoke match with the return of King Kev. Ah well...
Here are the fixtures for today:
Havant and W v Swansea
Hereford v Tranmere
Man City v West Ham
Newcastle v Stoke
Good old Havant and Waterlooville have taken the lead against the Swans. I'd love to see their confidence damaged by an old-fashioned Cup giantkilling.
It'll be interesting to see how the new Mexican wunderkind Nery Castillo gets on with Citeh. I thought he was dynamite in the Copa America this summer, but Mexicans have rarely done well in the Premiership.
The Newcastle match has a delayed kickoff due to the "kerfuffle" over Kevin Keegan's appointment today. Great stuff.
And it's a fantasy start for the Magpies under Keegan. Michael Owen with an 8th minute goal. Well in, wee Mikey!
So where's Tord Grip on the Citeh bench?
Howay the non-leagers! Havant and Waterlooville are 2-0 up! And they're only an hour away from a dream 4th round match at Anfield with Liverpool.
I do like the look of this Citeh midfield with Petrov wide left, Elano orchestrating things in the middle and Nery Castillo buzzing about in front the front pair. But they definitely need a quality striker - Vassell and Bianchi are not good enough.
The shots are raining in from Citeh's attack but the Hammers defense has been resolute.
Hey, I am here watching FSC and listening to Talksport.
I am glad that Keegan is there instead of some foreigner.
Afternoon, Dave. I'm delighted with the Keegan move. This from 365:
"Kevin Keegan has just entered St James' Park and is sitting in the directors box next to Mike Ashley and Chris Mort. The fans are going wild!"
Talksport are just giving a report from St. James' Park. He just arrived at the ground after about half an hour after kick off. The crowd are already cheering KEEGAN KEEGAN
And Wee Mikey's got the ball in the net for a second time, but this time it's ruled out for offside. Shame. The lad looks to be reborn under a new management.
Oh my gosh,
Havant are three up!!!
Cup Magic
I'm surprised that King Kev has the stomach to walk into a club like Newcastle again. The fans are always going to have unrealistic expectations.
Go on you Waterlooville boys!
They're in Cloud Cuckoo Land!
The Leek Eaters have got one back. 3-1 Havant.
Sorry Trev, but your lads look a bit anemic at the moment.
Swansea just scored and then get a penalty but it is saved
Newcastle 2 Stoke 0
but they are down to 10. Emre with a straight red
What a chance for Ashton bu hit it right at the keep
Yeah, apparently Emre was down receiving treatment and then as soon as he came back on he stamped on a Stoke player. They're down to ten but two-nil up regardless.
I guess we have the wrong match!!
2031: PENALTY SAVE
What a match at Westleigh. You can keep your shenanigans at Newcastle - Kevin Scriven has potentially written himself into Havant folklore with a superb stop from Leon Britton's spot-kick. The kick came after Guillem Bauza was clumsily brought down in the box by Philip Warner.
2030: RED CARD: Emre
Newcastle down to 10 men - it's going off like a box of faulty fireworks all over the grounds. Emre is given a straight red for a shocking tackle on John Eustace. Emre, who was the victim of a terrible tackle minutes earlier by Eustace, catches the Stoke player high on the shin. Awful and the first red of the new era of Keegan.
FSC definitely picked the wrong one to show today. Four goals and a missed penalty in one and two goals and a straight red in another.
Nery Castillo looks crocked. Another blow to the match. Bianchi to replace him.
This is the match that the BBC is showing. My brothers are watching are it as well
Yeah, I guess the Beebs has the exclusive deal with the Cup this year.
Nery Castillo stretchered off. Is this is debut?
I don't think so. They just get first dibs
YIKES, I'M NOT GOING!!
"Oh my God! I support Havant and Waterlooville and they are 3-1 up. If they win and get a trip to Anfield I will go to watch the match naked."
Dislocated Shoulder for Castillo
Who said that?
Nery played in the first match against West Ham and the last weekend, but it's a shame to see him go off with a serious shoulder injury after such a short time.
Fabio in trouble with taxes. Typical FA investigation
The Beeb
Oh, Ashton and Boa Morte made a mess of that after a terrible header by Dunne. Not much of an advert for the Prem!
The Naked comment came from HandW fan
Half-time: Very dreary affair. I nearly fell asleep during the last ten minutes.
"You can tell Keegan hasn't spoken to the team yet because they have a clean sheet..." nigusa on 606

It is now 3-2 with Havant
Swansea are piling on the pressure now. Can Havant hold on?
Good 606 comment but they can stuff it - I love King Kev's balls-out approach.
Am I missing something or is Dean Ashton just a big lump of rubbish?
Havant and Waterlooville are 4-2 up! They've only got to weather the Swansea onslaught for another ten minutes or so and they're on their way to Anfield.
I just got back from picking up Jonathan.
I don't think that Ashton is that bad
From the Beeb
114: GOAL Havant & Waterlooville 4-2 Swansea
Oh my giddy aunt, Havant have reopened a two-goal lead down in Hampshire! Delirium. That's the only word for it.
Has anything much happened in the second half?
I agree with your KK comment
And it was so nearly 4-3 at Havant! Leon Britton smashes the ball against the bar
James Milner has scored The Toons third. It happened when Talksport were there.
Not his night, Britton. He was the one who missed the pen, right?
Newcastle have scored a third - Jamie Milner.
The yellow cards are starting to come out, first for Hamann and now for Boa Morte who's been rotten tonight.
I don't think that last tackle wasn't much of a foul
Referee now saying to Boa Morte - "Right, one more and yer off!"
So should we call you a basketball dad, Dave?
Okay, Ashton looked like a lump with that pass
No
Martin Petrov has been Citeh's best player tonight. Time after time, he's swung dangerous balls in but Vassell and Bianchi just don't have the instinct to be able to get in to the right spaces.
And Citeh have put it in.
Made by your man Petrov
Elano has stuck in a scrappy goal and then there's the farcical pantomime of him avoiding a yellow by turning his shirt around. Again it was Petrov the supplier, Bianchi with a decent knock-down and Elano did the rest.
The Toon have scored #4
Three with 10 men
Damien Duff with another goal - 4-0 Newcastle. The Toon army will be swinging the pints of brown ale around tonight.
Hereford 1 Tranmere 0
Result
They'll meet Cardiff in the 4th round.
RESULT:
HAVANT AND WATERLOOVILLE 4
Top of the league SWANSEA 2
UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Top of the league (not for long) Swansea, that is.
What was Ashton playing at there. Instead of being in the mix with Ferdinand and the other big boys for that corner, he was standing near the top of the box waiting for the ball to come to him. Which it did and he merely thumped it at the keeper...again. Hopeless.
Stoke get a goal
Consolation goal. 4-1.
Result
Newcastle 4 Stoke 1
Stoke unlucky to face Newcastle on this day!!
I feel sorry for Bolton on the weekend
And that's a final score at Newcastle. Some happy Toon fans tonight. They've got Arsenal in the next round. Gooner won't be happy. His side has a rejuvenated Milan with a fit again Ronaldo and the new phenom Alexandre Pato in the Champions League and now a Keegan led Newcastle in the Cup.
I never feel sorry for Bolton. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
AC Milan and Real Madrid both knocked out of their cups tonight but who cares!!!
That's it
Citeh are through.
Sorry Sir Trev.
Good to spend the afternoon with you Bob.
See in on the weekend.
Citeh are through and West Ham are the eighth Premier League side eliminated from this year's FA Cup.
Tom Jordon, a scorer for HandW, is Joe Jordon's son!!!
