Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Going into today's games, there are only three teams that are cemented into their final position in the league.
Arsenal are guarantied third spot, Liverpool fourth and Derby 20th. Where will the rest finish up!!
You've made the right choice, mate. Loyalty always pays dividends. Your friends, your family and your blogmates will be gathered around to watch the Chelski Blues choke it.
So, have you been putting pins in your Emile Heskey doll this week?
Oh, I'd love it if that blue shower choked today. Good luck Davey.
Good Morning everybody !
I don't mind if you are all against me today . I can handle it !!!
I have to go to pick up Mike from Norwich airport at about 1:00 so I may miss the start of the games . But I will be back .
Hey Tony,
How did Mike's show go in Glasgow?
Morning, Dave. Keith Costigan says the "table doesn't lie." I say "bollocks." Chelski shouldn't be in with a shot with it. The only thing to be said about the state of affairs is that it's the most exciting last day of the season in the Premier League in a long time.
Hull City have beaten Watford at Vicarage Road 2-0
So, advantage Hull and Bristol City
Hey Bob,
I am watching Sky Sports 1 build up on my sister's skype. The kids have the TV watching a taped Top Gear.
That is a great show!!
Rooney is starting up top!!
What about Carlito?
I can't find a full list but I know Vidic and Rooney are in
Ron, Roon, Tevez
Scholes, Carrick and Park in the midfield
That sounds like your side.
Ron is being marked today by some teenager that has played about 1 minute of Premier League football.
Let's hope he gets a lesson!!
Sky Sports just said that all the second half kick offs will occur at the same time as well
He'll get schooled today!
So who's going to go down?
I think Birmingham and Fulham
I think Reading will win at Derby
It is weird, Birmingham could win and still go down but draw and stay up
What about Bolton? They have to get something at Chelski, right?
Inter went into the lead but have been pegged back
Roma are in the lead
So who does Brucie want to win the Premiership?
No,Bolton are safe. By points they could be caught but not by goal difference
Of course he wants to see United win but he won't lay down.
The Official Line Up
VDS
Brown
Rio
Vidic
Evra
Ron
Carrick
Scholes
Park
Tevez
Roon
On Bench
Saha
Giggs
Hargreaves
Silvestre
Kruszczak
Fergie having a mope, eh?
Where's the Neviller?
15,000 United fans are in Wigan to watch a game on a big screen in the city.
Sky says that the JJB looks like Old Trafford
They always say about the title going down to the last day in '95 and '99 but it was also the case in '96.
United needed a draw Boro. They won and the Toon only drew with Spurs
Come on! I'd play against Kevin Davies. He's pants!
So the Wigan fans sold their home tickets?
Do Pompey have anything to play for today? I reckon that they might rest some players for the Cup Final and Fulham might get a result.
The players are coming out of the tunnel at Wigan
Come on BOLTON!!!!
Pompey have nothing to play for except finishing position. As I said earlier, only three positions are set
Arsenal, Chelsea and Derby
Hi Guys !
I'm back . Really hot over here .
Good luck everybody .
Hey Tony! Hot, eh? Try 92F! I'm roasting!
I like Cech's all-orange goalkeeper's kit. Very stylish.
OK Bob , so it's not that hot , but it's hot enough for me .
Why haven't Chelski and Bolton kicked off yet?
United are off
Wigan have the first corner
Almost an early chance for Fulham as Jimmy Bullard's through ball is just too long for Diomansy Kamara.
Hey Tony
How was Mike?
The Show?
An early shot on goal at the JJB as Michael Brown's weak effort from 25 yards is easily saved by Edwin Van der Sar.
Wigan have started well
United look nervous
Hi Dave .
Mike is fine and the show went well .
Nice ball from Bollocks. You'll take those all day long.
Wigan break but take a weak shot wide of the post
Simon Davies goes within inches of giving Fulham the lead against Portsmouth but his snap shot comes agonisingly back off the post. Still 0-0. Fulham are going for it!
My eyes on the computer more than the TV by the way
Ron has useless shot well wide.
It went out equal to the six yard box
All these teams always play their last game in their new kits for next year.
Chelsea are doing it again
Bolton look up for it.
West Ham have taken the lead against Villa in the battle of claret and blues
I hadn't noticed - what's the difference in the new kit - apart from £80 that is.
I got that score off the TV screen in England.
I LOVE SKYPE
How did Drogs miss that
Drogs with the first half chance for Chelski but he was too wide to get a chance on goal.
And he nearly got in at the back post but sliced it.
The collar of the shirt is much different and Cech looks like a pumpkin
Robbie Earle sounds like he's wearing blue today.
JT is down - this looks bad.
Wigan have had some decent possession
Terry down hurt
HE IS DONE!!!!
Looks like it is his arm
Cech's orange is more day-glo traffic cone than pumpkin. Listen, I know my orange. Remember my room in Mildenhall?
Belletti to come on, which will probably mean that someone has to shift to center back. Essien?
He could be out of the CL Final
Reading have scored
Villa have tied it up
Boro have scored and City are down to ten men
I called that - Essien shifts to center back. That's really good news for you lot. It neutralizes his ability to get forward.
United not looking very good
That inevitable Reading goal against Derby drops Fulham into the bottom three. Come on you Cottagers!
We have a corner though
Cleared
Free kick to Bolton....
Rubbish....
A bit of a scramble in the United box
Emile Ivanhoe causing some problems
United haven't been much of an attacking threat
No goals after 22 minutes.
I wanted a couple by now
boy that was close by Drogs
Drogba tries a Ronaldo free kick and it's just wide. Keeper didn't move.
Bolton get an iffy corner, but it comes to nothing. Bolton have to take better advantage of these dead ball situations.
Free kick chance for Ron
saved
The Arse have taken the lead at Sunderland
Possible broken arm for JT - definitely out for the CL Final.
I thought it was a broken arm
Rio handballed it a couple of minutes ago in the box but the ref didn't see it
Tevez has a chance near post. Misses
Theo with the goal for the Arse. He needs a move in the summer to a club where he'll get regular first team footie. Arsenal are likely to buy someone like Benzema in the summer who'll continue to keep Theo out of the side.
What happened to JT ?
As it stands, United will be crowned champions while Reading are staying up, with Birmingham and Fulham dropping down to the Championship.
Everton have taken the lead against Newcastle
PENALTY TO UNITED!!!!!!
JT collided with Cech as they were going up to challenge a cross with Kevin Davies. The Chelski faithful are now booing Davies at every touch because they thought he nobbled him.
COME ON RON.... YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Low to the keeper's left
Roon was tripped in the box.
Again, Wigan should have had one earlier. A definite hand ball by Rio
Well done, Davey. That's silenced the Bridge crowd.
Everton could seal the UEFA spot with that Yakubu goal.
I still don't like the situation.
It happens a lot that everything seems to be going your way at the beginning and then it all goes pear shaped
Whats with Rio and his hands ?
There are definitely some twists in the story to come.
GOAL - BIRMINGHAM 1 BLACKBURN David Murphy fires Birmingham 1-0 up as they battle to avoid the drop. It won't mean anything though if Reading hold onto their lead at Derby.
Scholes could be in trouble. Already booked and now a stern talking to by the ref
As for Rio, there was a shot that hit Rio's arm. More of a penalty than the Carrick hand ball against Chelsea
SCHOLES WAS VERY LUCKY TO STAY ON
Wigan go close!!
I told you, it could all change
Brum have taken the lead!!
Paul Scholes is lucky not to be shown a red card as he cynically barges Wilson Palacios off the ball as he charges forward, and having already been booked, he could easily have been sent off there.
Boro are two up
GET RID OF SVEN!!
I think he was VERY lucky
Milan are two down
United are not looking good
That's a bit unfair on Sven. Come on, Shinawatra has all but sacked him already before the end of the season. And has Sven really done that poorly. They did the double over you lot!
That was never a foul on Cole
Dave , according to you United never look good .
Inter are drawing. That would be enough to be Champs
They have not been an attacking force so far
Debs says hi
25-26C in London? Blimey, that is hot for London!
Hi Debs!
Cech megs the forward!!
It's true, Dave. You are a nervous nelly.
Interesting, Gary Megson wearing a Chelski cap and he's taped over the Chelski logo.
Hi Deb's
Bob I told you it was hot !
Listen, did you guys give the title to United weeks ago? DID I? WAS I RIGHT?
With the Chelsea game kicking off about three minutes after United and with the Terry injury, United will have a LONG half time if they have to wait for Chelsea
Uh, we were right. Looks like the magic number for Premiership survival will be 36 points this season. I still expect Fulham to reach it. One goal will do. Come on, Captain America!
Pretty low total, though. We were relegated on 41 points. West Ham on 42 points a few years back.
Half time at the JJB
45 minutes to go!!
Half time in a lot of matches, but we play on at the Bridge.
Half time at the Bridge
Of course I am being a nervous nelly but I don't like when it is all going smoothly but could change in an instant
My buddy just called me and said it was ball hitting top of the top of the shoulder
The Sky boys think it was a penalty on Rio
Sky sports news said it was hand ball
They think it was a pen for United as well.
Scholes should have been off the pitch
Citeh could qualify for Europe because of the Fair Play League but...
1559: "Typical City. All they have to do is have sit in a circle making daisy chains and we make Europe, but no, we get a red card. I give up."
Finally Keith Costigan is saying something positive about Fulham. He's been the Grim Reaper for the past two months.
Brum's goal was a mistake by Friedel. How could he be soo good against United
You're in luck, Dave. Sheva's coming on.
United had an extra long half time.
Let's hope they haven't fallen asleep
Off the bar by Chelski
See, things could change quickly
That was saved
Ooh, Malouda's hit the bar with a wicked deflected shot. Al Habsi got a hand to that.
Free kick chance for United
Come on RON, PUT IT AWAY!!!
SAVED
Newcastle score a pen
Inter have drawn.
They are Champs
GOAL - EVERTON 1 NEWCASTLE 1 Michael Owen scores from the spot which is not only good news for Newcastle, but for Aston Villa too.
Blackburn have tied it up at St. Andrews
My mistake, I think there is another week left in Italy
Bolton have pulled up the drawbridge. They're not even trying to hit Chelksi on the break now.
United are still not looking good.
I am very nervous
WE NEED ANOTHER GOAL
No, I think you're right. Inter will win the Scudetto today.
Sky just said something about Terry's elbow. Not as bad as thought. He may be okay for CL final
Ron goes close with a header
1616: "I don't think Wayne Rooney is fit. He's not moving as well as we're used to seeing."
BBC Radio 5 Live analyst Jimmy Armfield
Roon hits one just wide... it was saved
Are you happy about that JT news?
I don't want him badly hurt
It's time for Jimmy Bullard to step up and hit one of those free kicks.
Villa have taken the lead at Upton Park
Boro are three up with Citeh
Reading are two up
Roon having a go at the ref
United are putting on more pressure now
End-to-end action at Fratton Park as Kranjcar forces Keller into a save from distance before Bullard drags the ball wide from just outside the box.
Make that Boro 4 Citeh 0
How did we drop six points of those lot
That Reading goal means that Brum are all but down, but Reading can still relegate Reading with just one in off the bum.
Just over 30 minutes to go
Well, you lot dropped points to Boro too! I'm telling you that that scoreline has to do with the players reacting to the backroom dealings at Eastlands.
I would have put money on Drogs putting that away
Al Habsi saves from Drogs once again.
GOAL! Shevchenko - who would have bet on that!
SHEVA WITH THE GOAL!!
Your sarky comment came back to bite me
How about that then !!! Sheva
You're right. It's squeaky bum time now for you.
I've told you that all the time but no, I am a nervous nelly!!
Reading are three up
Bolton almost get one back.
United looking nervous again
Great save from Cech from Spitty Diouf.
Hargreaves coming on
For Scholes
1630: Fulham are looking jittery and struggling to create any chances. Pompey, though, are beginning to wake from their slumber and that is bad news for the Londoners who at this moment are going to lose their fight against relegation. The goal that would save them does not look like coming.
GOAL - DERBY 0 READING 3 Kevin Doyle scores for Reading and Derby's misery continues. With Fulham still tied at 0-0 with Portsmouth, Reading are staying up as it stands.
Giggs is coming on for Park
This appearance ties him with Sir Bobby
Emile goes very close with a header
Spitty Diouf coming off to be replaced by Stelios.
20 minutes to go
Come on Brucie, take off your keeper for a forward. You need a goal
Brum are 2-1 up
United free kick.
Giggs, Owen and Ron all standing over it
Why do Wigan need a goal?
goes for a corner
FULHAM HAVE SCORED!!!
GOAL - PORTSMOUTH 0 FULHAM 1 Drama at the bottom of the table as Fulham take the lead! Yes!
Vidic goes close
GOAL - TOTTENHAM 0 LIVERPOOL 1 Andriy Voronin takes advantage of poor Spurs defending to give Liverpool the lead at White Hart Lane.
Liverpool are two up. I missed their first one
Danny Murphy with that headed goal for Fulham. Now they have to gut out the last fifteen minutes at Fratton Park in order to survive.
Everton have take the lead again
Torres with Liverpool's second - he's had a brilliant season.
77 minutes gone at the JJB
There is a 14 second difference between the two games
Bloody Hell
Boro are SIX UP
What on earth could Gary Megson have been saying to John Obi Mikel?
BOY BOLTON WERE CLOSE THERE!!
Cashley saves one off the line!
Giggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Giggs with your second - United are champions!
Congratulations, mate!
