Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

What a treat to have Andy Gray doing the color commentary. He's just awarded Tuncay 9.5 for an early diving effort. Lovely!
Pepe has just reeled away with his arms up celebrating Portugal's opener only to find the linesman's flag raised. He's incredulous the replay shows that the Portugeezer was miles offside. Andy Gray gives the linesman "10 out of 10."
Half way through the first half and still no goals. This is a much more open match than the earlier snoozefest but it could use a moment of brilliance.
I'm already sick of seeing Big Phil Scolari leaping off the bench with his craw open.
It's terrific to see a return to the Telstar ball, surely the coolest ball design ever.
Cronaldo has been quiet, mainly because the Turks have cut off the supply line.
I don't I can remember a game in which I despised both sides more than this one. I only wish that the caterers had slipped both sides some iffy tuna sandwiches before the match.
Free kick opportunity now for Cronaldo. No, Simao has overruled him and hits it just over the bar. Nice effort.
Cronaldo makes a dazzling run but the finish doesn't match it.
Now that Skippy has all but signed for Real Madrid, I wonder if it's safe for Dave to hate him as much as the rest of us.
Oooh, Cronaldo takes the second Portuguese free kick and hits one of his specials against the upright and out again. Very, very close.
On the replay, it was a tremendous save that pushed the ball onto the post. Great save from Volkan.
Pepe got his head onto another one from a corner and it fizzes wide.
Half-time: 0-0. This is starting to feel like a low scoring tournament. The Portuguese might feel hard done by to not be one up but the Turks have been effective in shutting ddown the top threats.
The second half has started with a flurry of activity. First, Simao weathers a Turkish penalty claim.
Then he springs the trap down the pitch, is hacked by a Turkish defender. Advantage was played and Nuno Gomes hit the post with his effort.
Nani is warming up now and presumably will come on for Simao if he can't continue.
Deco has the chance to hit one from the top of the box but elects to try an overelaborate dink to Nuno Gomes. That about sums up Portugal's weaknesses.
GOAL! A brilliant effort from Pepe, the center back who has been Portugal's biggest threat today.
He played it wide to Ronaldo, it came back to him and he surged forward, played a one-two with Nuno Gomes and dinked it over the keeper. In fairness the challenge from the Turkish defender carried the ball over the keeper's legs but it was still a quality move and finish.
Portugal 1-0!
The game really changes for Turkey now. Fateh Tarim obviously sent them in to do a smash and grab, but now they're going to have to break the Portuguese defense down. Some changes to come for sure.
Another great move leads to Cronaldo crossing and Nuno Gomes heading off the bar. It really should be Portugal three or four up by now.
Senturk is on to try and save the day for Turkey.
GOAL! Portugal finish off the Turks with another training pitch goal on the break that ends with the substitute Morales slotting home.
Full-time: Portugal 2-0.
In the end it was an easy win and confirms the opinion that Portugal should do well in this tournament. However, the Turks made them work and I'm not sure that Portugal have the sharp edge to win the whole thing.
Hey guys, sorry I missed the games. The boys and I just watched the second game. A stroll for the Iberians.
I have to tape them again tomorrow.
Cheers
After reading this blog, I just want to point out that Cristiano Ronaldo aint going to be wearing Real white next season!!!
I'd love to agree with you, but it will take a firm Manchester United resolve. I think there are only two teams in England wealthy enough to make an example of this misbehavior, Chelsea and United. But you'll have to keep him out of play for 3 months and ban him from training until he realizes that United will mothball him until the end of his contract in 3 years.
But either way, he'll never play for you again David and it's a shame.
