Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Here are the teams at the Emirates
Arsenal:
Almunia, Sagna, Gallas, Silvestre, Clichy, Walcott, Fabregas, Denilson, Nasri, Diaby, Bendtner.
Subs: Fabianski, Toure, Vela, Ramsey, Song Billong, Wilshere, Djourou.
Man Utd:
Van der Sar, Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Ronaldo, Anderson, Carrick, Park, Rooney, Berbatov.
Subs: Kuszczak, Giggs, Nani, Rafael Da Silva, O'Shea, Evans, Tevez.
For some reason, there is a second match kicking off early. Wigan hosts Stoke City
Wallcott, Gallas and SIlvestre all make the team after injuries. Still missing Adebayor and RVP
As for United, Park is a surprise. Fergie must like him for big games. He played at the Bridge as well. BTW, he scored. He also played in most of the CL games last season except for the Final
Andy Gray is with Rob Hawthorne. Where is Martin Tyler?
Five minutes to kick off
United wearing there Champions League Blue shirts.
The teams are coming out of the tunnel. Keano isn't trying to beat up Patrick V.
Here they come!!
A minute silence for Poppy Day
Well observed.
We are off
Short back pass by the left back and Almunia picks it up.
United have free kick inside the box
Ronaldo will definitely hit the wall
Roon and Anderson over the ball against the wall. Carrick hits it just wide. COME ON UNITED
Wish we scored there
I'll take an easy win with goals by Roon, Ron and Berba
Of course, it would be good if Anderson gets his first goal for United. Why not VDS as well
It is pelting down by the way
Arsenal are doing some dangerous passing at the back
Arsenal just had their first spell of possession. Didn't come to much
Morning, Dave! I'm here for a few minutes before my talk.
United break quick, dummied by Park to Roon who takes a great shot saved but Berba knocks in the rebound but a yard offside.
Free kick chance for Ron from about 30 yds out
Please don't hit the wall... not very good hits it wide
SAF is wearing a hoody
Free kick just wide by Ron...
Bendtner with a header. Should have scored
Fergie looks a bit daft in that get up, but maybe it's cold. He's chomping extra vigorously on the gum today. I wonder if he's nervous?
That was Arsenal's first chance.
United need a goal to make their dominance count
Bendtner goes close...
Hey Bob, I didn't even realize you were here.
Arsenal go close again
I KNEW ROONEY WAS GOING TO HACK HIM DOWN THERE.
What was VDS doing there??
Arsenal starting to dominate
Fifteen minutes gone...fairly even?
I know - you're in your solo zone. I get that way too if I'm not expecting fellow bloggers.
The Arse has taken the lead in the possession percentage. It was all United at the beginning.
The build up to United coming to the Emirates was saying that United haven't won there. THIS IS THEIR THIRD GAME!!
Great move by United, what a miss by Roon.
Come on WAYNE!
United on top in attempts 5-2 but neither team has any on target
Good luck with your speech
My predictions this weekend:
Arse 1 United 1
Wigan 2 Stoke 1
Hull 2 Bolton 0
Sunderland 1 Pompey 1
West Ham 2 Everton 1
Liverpool 3 WBA 0
Blackburn 0 Chelski 2
Villa 1 Boro 0
Citeh 3 Spurs 2
Fulham 0 Newcastle 1
Something just happened with my link.
Bugger
Cheers, mate. Want to do it for me?
I'm still up on the Veetle...it gets psychedelic every once in a while but is mostly crisp and clear.
Free kick to the Arse...useless delivery...it comes out and....
GOAL! Nasri.
Sorry, mate. That was a bit jammy. Took several deflections past VDS.
I just got off the Sky link and am now on the Veetle link. Much clearer but it is Setanta
BUGGER, Nasri scores a nice goal. Actually, a deflected shot.
Well, I should probably head in. I'll check back round 10 or so.
Cheers!
I never get nervous with speeches. Do you?
Take care
First booking of the game goes to Gallas. Wasn't much
JUST WIDE OFF A DEFENDERS HEAD!
Fab goes just wide with a shot but get a corner
Half hour in.
Pleased with the performance so far but not the score
Good run and shot by Park but saved
10 minutes to go in the half
Evra is in the book
Scramble in the box and Silvestre almost scores against his old mates.
Don't do something like that Mickel
Walcott with a good volley at the back post.
TEN YEARS since an Englishman has scored for Arsenal against United. I wonder who it was?
End to end stuff here
One minute of added time
Just about to go into it. Come on United get a goal
Anderson makes a good run into the box. Not much of an angle and it is saved
Half time. One nil to Arsenal but still all to play for
The second half should have started by now but still on commercial
Here we go. No change for either side
COME ON UNITED!!
My link keeps freezing. I am getting annoyed.
Two quick corners to Arsenal but both cleared but the Arse still have possession
Great move by Arsenal and belted in by Nasri.
Bugger but great goal by the Arse
I really think United don't have it this year. I haven't been pleased with any of their performances.
Still time though, ohh, Ron misses a sitter at the back post
45 seconds and 15 passes and a goal. Pretty impressive
Same as the Spurs game please Arsenal
United haven't had their shooting boots on.
Especially Roon.
Come on Berba, do something
Walcott whiffs on a chance
COME ON UNITED!!!
Just under half an hour to go
Rafael on for the Nev
United need a goal. The last time they didn't score in the Prem was on Novemeber 24 of last year against Bolton
The link is freezing a lot. I am getting annoyed. Am I being spoiled
20 to go
Time for Tev?
Giggs on for Anderson
nasri goes down in the box.. no pen. I can't tell. My link has froze.
15 to go
Still haven't seen it but the commentators say it was a pen.
Can MANCHESTER UNITED SCORE. THEY ALWAYS SCORE
Tevez on for Roon
Just saw the pen shout. Shirt pulling but that is never called. Should be but isn't
Almunia is off because of injury
just over 10 to go.
United needed to win this let alone not lose
Only five minutes plus hopefully lots of added time for the injury for Almunia
Arsene making some substitutions just like the Spurs game. Thank you
60,106 inside the Emirates this morning
United have not been very impressive in this second half
Tev goes into the box and then doesn't know what to do with it
Rafael with a great volley in the 89th minute. Great goal.
COME ON UNITED!!!!!
SIX added minutes
COME ON UNITED!!!!!!!!
Again, just like the Spurs game please
Just under three to go
Come on UNITED!!
Bendtner should have done better
One more chance for United.
GET THE BALL.
Under thirty seconds and United can't get the ball
THAT IS IT.
Arsenal win 2-1.
Good game
Congratulations Steve
good game Davey. your lot had me terrified for 96 minutes. it's a shame that either team would lose that.
I am now turning to Veetles link to Soccer Saturday.
Hey Gooner, was your link very good. Mine was clear but kept freezing.
Wigan and Stoke draw nil nil
Looks like SS starts at half time again
I take Tom to basketball practice and I miss a Sunderland goal
I have the Hammers on the computer too
In the FA Cup, name from the 70s Blyth Spartins are beating League opposition Shrewsbury
Our very own Bury Town are losing to Alfreton
Blyth are THREE UP!!!
Richardson hits the post for Sunderland
Are Pompey going to be in trouble this season?
Palace are winning at Coventry
Forest are losing at home to Brum
Norwich have tied it up with Preston at CR
Hey, Dave: I'm back from my talk. Sorry to hear of United's defeat. You're being very gracious in defeat, though. The result does make things very exciting at the top of the league as it gives Arsenal fresh hope for the championship.
a Hammer is being taken off on a stretcher. I think it is Upson
Kidderminster are beating Cambridge
It was Upson
Welcome back Bob, How did it go?
The other Premiership fixtures this morning are pure crap, so I was trying to get the Soccer Saturday link up but could only get Celtic vs. Motherwell for some reason.
Again, I have the WH Everton game on the computer and Sunderland Pompey on the TV. I am going to tune in Soccer Saturday at half time on a Veetle link
My Veetle link for SS is just blank. Again, half time
It was a bit all over the place. It's the sort of panel where the papers have no relation to each other. So there was a Latin woman who was talking about Native American education in the Southwest who ran really long and pissed off the chair and then a deaf guy talking about math instruction for deaf kids who had trouble with his PowerPoint. Then me - no worries, right on time, right on the money. But the chaos kind of cut into the question time so I only got a few minutes to blather on. No sweat - it's one more line on the cv.
Well done... bloody math teachers!!
Cisse almost gets a second. Well saved by James
For lack of a better option, I'm watching the Hammers. But I'd rather be watching SS. (sorry Trev)
Yeah, and the deaf guy was from Rochester Institute of Tech. I've always heard that Rochester is the ass crack of New York, not a patch on Scotia or Fredonia, eh?
Bury Town are still at 0-0 with the Gills.
Couldn't agree more!!
RIT knocked us out of the NCAA my freshman year
TOSSERS!!!
I do enjoy watching this young kid Freddy Sears for West Ham. Definitely one for the future if he can bulk up a bit.
Actually they were losing and now are all square
Sheff Utd are down to ten men at Barnsley but are winning
Barnsley are down to ten as well
I'll give him a kick during the reception tonight for you!
Cheers...TOSSERS!!
Wolves have taken the lead against Burnley
Bury have taken the lead
The Hammers need a win today.
Well done, Bury St. Edmunds.
Ipswich have taken the lead at Blackpool
Half time at the Stadium of Light. Benfica are beating Pompey 1-0. I mean Sunderland
Coming up on half time at Upton Park.
It is half time
I'm at -50 points so far this weekend. Bloody Norah!
That ref this morning was a shocker. Diaby, felled when running at goal, give nothing. Nasri should have been given a penalty. 50/50 decisions went United's way and the one time he penalised a United player and booked him it wasnt a booking (Carrick on Almunia). Incredible game, finally we win one of these after going ahead and but for Bendther we played very very well, UNited could have had 6 if ROoney had his shooting boots on.
United have not had a good start to the season.
They are not crushing the little teams and have only gotten ONE point out of NINE against the other three big boys. The one thing is that we have played them all on the road. We need to do the business at Old Trafford
i have soccer saturday up with Jeff Stelling.
FOotball 365 has a link on its front page which works despite me being outside the UKhttp://www.football365.com/
I don't agree with Simon about the refereeing. I thought there wasn't much to complain about for each team. Don't complain. You won!
My Liverpool friend was pointing out the same stat, 1 from 9. Thats bad and means the draws v Everton and Newcastle are all the worse... Early days of course but it does look like Berbatov has settled now - though he is still a lazy sod.
I wanted that penalty and Rooney had to be booked for his kicking on Walcott. Still a win is a win!
I knew Roon had red in his head when he was running back but it wasn't much of a foul. Carrick got booked for the challenge on Alumnia. I didn't see it because my link kept freezing but the commentators thought he had every right to go for it. It all evens out
Thanks for that link to SS. It is working for me too.
Second half starts at the SoL
Hi Guys .
Sorry I'm late . Just got back from
Mildenhall . Been having trouble
signing on to this site for some
reason .
The West Ham is very late. Is that because of the Upson injury? We are three minutes in at Sunderland at the teams are just coming out at Upton Park
Magic - Chelski at 8:30 tomorrow morning. I might just sleep in and catch it.
Carrick was robbed and has every right to complain - if Terry can get a red rescinded for a rugby tackle then Carrick deserves his taken away.
Poor Adams likks very forlorn.
Have you got that link going for Soccer Saturday that Simon gave us
http://www.football365.com/
Hiya - chelskilad!
Hiya Tony
POMPEY have equalized very with a nice goal
No, how do you access it through Football 365? I always follow the scores on 365 but I didn't know that there was a link to SS.
The TV is ahead of SS
There is a picture of SS on the right side of the screen
Adams looks even worse since the equaliser!
Great turn and shot by Defoe.
Pompey are right back in this
Adams looks even worse since the equaliser!
Hull are losing to Bolton
Is this the start of the Hull fall.
I've got SS up through 365 now. Magic! Thanks, Simon!
Hull relegated by Xmas. :)
No worries, found it by accident , after searching online!
Charlie Nicholas sounds more Scottish every weekend. He's all "hoots mon" today. Must have had some haggis for breakfast this morning.
I love when Jeff S gets excited about his beloved Hartlepool
Paul Merson just looks confused
Hartlepool have scored with James Brown.
Luv it
What's it feel like to be on top of the league, Tony?
Merson and Stelling are in fine form, Merson has been mispronouncing names all day....
Charlie... SEE YOU JIMMY!!
Damn I think i put my triple banker on a Hull home win....
Charlie: "Lend us a fiver til the weekend..."
Cisse scores for Sunderland but he was offside.
Good decision
Bury are now drawing 2-2
I've got the banker chip on Liverpool to win. I'm going to need that one to come through for me as I'm down 50 points today.
Go on, you East Anglian boys!
COME ON YOU BAGGIES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, that's a really disgusting ad about the flu virus. It's put me off bus travel altogether.
Nice goal by the Hammers... where are you Sir Trev
Great Hammers goal, lovely backheel.
Bus travel is horrible - i live in Silver Spring and someone got shot on one lastweek, though I refuse to take a bus at night here anyway.
Who's the fellow commenting on the Hammers match? I don't recognize him.
Dunno, I am listening to SS, the sound is down for WH
Ah, Silver Spring. Gooner and his missus used to live out there back in the late 80s. Nice area.
Hartlepool are three two up
Here comes Jeff S.
no idea who that is on WestHam game, i have Sunderland on but switched over and couldnt place the fella.
Histon, just outside Cambridge have taken the lead
Stelling's going barmy about Hartlepool. I've never seen him this animated!
Where is Gooner? I assume his heart gave out after Nasri's second, mie nearly did.
When it has to do with Hartlepool he does.
You tube it!!
I reckon the Merse is off the wagon again.
Dickie Davis sure looks different. He has no mustache and MUCH MUCH younger!
Dunno - he does like nipping off to Five Guys for lunch on a Saturday with the kid.
Doyle far too good for Reading and just signed an extended deal too.. I would think come Jan one of the strugglers would come for him but I reckon he'd be a good VIlla signing.
I love Merse! Its no accident my emal moniker is merskamp... no prizes for figuring out the other half...
Everton go close
I'm still here . Just better at reading than writing .
You're hopeless bruv
uh oh Brighton have scored against HPool
argy bargy at Sunderland
Diarra and Richardson both with yellows
I might be hopeless but at least I'm
here .
Norwich are beating Preston but they are now down to ten men
Charlton have equalized. They are in the drop zone
Preston tie it up right away.
I'm off for the lunch session. I'll catch you lads later.
Everton tie it up
Julian 'whacko hair' Lescott
Take care Bob
Penalty for Pompey.
Rash challenge
Everton have taken the lead
Defoe puts it in
ex red Saha scores again
Still five to go at Upton Park
What a finish... West Ham and Sunderland committed out and out suicide.
Three one to Everton. Saha again. Why don't we still have him!!
He is allergic to the water in Manchester, the Darren Anderton of the North.
Tony Adams gets his first win.
Well done Pompey
The Hammers fans aren't blowing bubbles. They are off.
Bury have given away #4.
Shame
I'm really pleased for Adams .
