Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

80s Trivia of the Week

Bivalve recently had the temerity to challenge me to a game of Trivia Pursuits 80s Edition. This sounds like an excellent excuse for an LOB reunion in the near future. However, before I have a chance to hand out a smack down of epic proportions, I'm going to initiate a new series of 80s trivia.

I've always been a defender of 80s music; however, even my breath was taken away by the profusion of crap #1 hits from the period. Below is a list of the lamest of the bunch. Simply name the band/artist. (Bonus points if you remember any lame 80s movies that featured this tunes:

1. "Let's Hear it for the Boy"
2. "Eye of the Tiger"
3. "867-5309 (Jenny)"
4. "Heat of the Moment"
5. "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
6. "Jeopardy"
7. "Sister Christian"
8. "We Built This City"
9. "Take My Breath Away"
10. "(I Just) Died in Your Arms"
11. "Lady in Red"
12. "Maniac"
13. "Broken Wings"
14. "Can't Fight this Feeling"
15. "Never Gonna Give You Up"

Good luck, folks. (No wikicheating, David!)

Well played, West Ham. You've shown yourself to be a true child of the 80s.

Correct: #s 2 and 4.

Incorrect: #s 1, 5, 9 and 14.

You're really close on #11 - it's another Chris. Also close on #15 - another Rick. You're also right that #12 was from that iconic 80s film "Flashdance," but who recorded it? I don't know a Queen song called "Take My Breath Away," but I may be wrong. The #1 hit from the 80s was by another band, though.

No cheating so far

Correct on all three, sir. It was just "Starship" by the time JS recorded "We Built This City," btw. Well played.

Right with Chris de Burgh. I was chuckling yesterday when I saw an ad on Sky for some kind of lottery where Carlton Palmer is taking a bath fully clothed with some punter. At the end, he says, "Go on, put some Chris de Burgh on!" Good stuff.

Btw, you were accused of wikicheating because you're easy to wind up, mate. Cheers!
