Good Morning everyone . Just thought I would get in here first . Just emailed Dave and told him I'm watching Football Focus on BBC at the moment . It's on early because of the Grand Prix qualifying . Hope to join you guys on and off during the day .
Talk later . Good luck .
Morning, Tony! I'm looking forward to a good natter with you today. I'm sure that you're more than satisfied with the way the season has started for the Blues.
Soccer Saturday up good and proper on VSS. Excellent start to the day.
I had an absolutely appalling mid-week in terms of the Premier League predictions (lost 30 points on United alone!) so I'm hoping to bounce back today. Here are my picks:
Arsenal 2 Pompey 0
Brum 1 Stoke 1
Hull 1 Bolton 0
Money City 4 Wolves 1
Sunderland 1 Blackburn 0
Wigan 0 United 2
Hi Bob .
How are things with you and your family ? All well I hope .
Yes I'm quite pleased with the season so far . Long may it continue . Though I am really worried about Portsmouth . No chance of any points today . I have Fulham in our handicapped sweepstake at the pub this season . So I'm kind of torn this weekend . Where's Dave ?
Hey Tony! The family's good. I just moved Karen up from Florida this summer and she's settled in remarkably well in a small western NY town. My brother's family is coming up for a visit next week.
Portsmouth are in trouble. I don't give Paul Hart much hope for staying. But if they get in a decent manager, I reckon they'll survive the season. You can see the difference that a manager makes with what's happened to Fulham under Roy Hodgson.
I agree with you . It's amazing what a difference a good manager makes .
I'm not sure where your brother is this morning. Maybe still sulking about that mid-week result?
Sir Alex is ringing the changes for obvious reasons. Seven changes in today's side. Wee Mikey is, of course, one of them. After those howlers on Tuesday, he drops to the bench.
Leeds Report:
The Mighty Whites are at home to Tranmere today looking for our thirteenth home win on the trot. That would keep us at 100% for the season. So far we've won three in the league and one in the Carling Cup away to Darlington.
I am here fellas!
Ready to follow United on ESPN!!!
I have Soccer Saturday as well from VSS and also the Cricket. COME ON ENGLAND!!
Almost 400 up with still 4 wickets to go!!
Rio out for a month but Vidic is back
United's team
Foster
Neville
Vidic
Evans
Evra
Valencia
Fletcher
Scholes
Nani
Rooney
Berbatov
Morning, Dave!
I am loving this VSS site.
If you go to live shows there are links to all the English channels. Not sure if they all work but...
FSC has its preview show on. ESPN unfortunately are still doing NASCAR Now.
I'm with you. VSS is the dog's bollocks. I've been following SS for the past hour and a half. Big Nose Phil reckons that Liverpool can win the league. What do you think?
Matt has always changed his colors with the footer teams
Sadly Jon has fallen into the pit of Costa Del Pool
Thomas has been the one I can count on!!
Of course, he just said he wants to watch Citeh on FSC instead of United!!
WHAT IS GOING ON!!
England up by 409
Costa do scare me. I am hoping for them to stink it up!
Sorry about the kids, Dave. They're a fickle lot these days. No sense of loyalty. It's all "I Love Miley" one week and the "Jonas Bros Rock!" the next week. Pshhh.
Scary forward line for Citeh today. Adebayor and Tevez up front, Robinho, Ireland, Barry and SWP in the midfield.
Seriously, Thomas is still a United fan. He just wants to see the new Citeh. But I can still count on him!
The Wolves side? Never heard of em!
United are 9 for 9 against Wigan. Please have that continue
I have to admit I'm very curious about Citeh. I've seen United a couple of times so far but haven't seen Citeh yet. I may be popping back and forth but SS is staying on the computer!
ESPN are on
Georgie Bingham in the studio with who?
English commentators
My coverage keeps freezing
Finally! ESPN have just started their preview show - it's five-minutes long!
Loving this on ESPN!!!!
Good penalty from Carrick, eh Dave!
We are actually seeing the teams come out with the commentators talking
FSC are still in the studio
A lot of firepower in that United side.
Useless
I am surprised that he took it.
I didn't know they missed one until I read it on LOB from you
Nice shots of the Oval on VSS
What sign did we make when we went there with Mr. and Mrs. Hunter?
What do you think of my predictions for today, Dave? I need some major help after that mid-week drubbing!
Firepower? We've score TWO goals!!
WE're off at DW stadium
FSC still on commercial!
I believe the sign read something like "Joel - Mow the Lawn!" You could see the sheet on the telly but you couldn't read the writing. Am I right?
Look pretty good predictions but so did midweek's
What does "DW" stand for?
THEY'VE LOST CONNECTION
COME ON ESPN
I said that last week
Dave Wheelan
That's because you started the shrimps against Burnley. You can't have Rooney and Owen up top!
Bingo!!
He didn't want to come to the cricket so he had to stay and mow the lawn!
Two games going on at the same time on my TV in the US!!
WOW!
Newcastle continuing their good start. 0-1 up.
Morning. I'm very pleased to have found a good Celtic/St. Johnstone stream.
Helping my wife paint the kitchen in the midst of all this.
HOW DID FLETCHER MISS IT!!!
Wow is right - did you ever think you'd see that?
Good morning Someone
Blackburn have had a goal disallowed.
Morning, Someone. Good to have you on board.
What is up with Titus Bramble!!
He has been playing well
England just lost their seventh wicket
Still up by 415
What a great move by United but blasted over the bar by Scholes
Bugger
Bright start from the Leeds boys at Tranmere, Beckford peppering the goal with shots.
Berba has been on dangerous
Shef Wed are beating Scunthorpe
Good stuff from United so far. A goal's coming, don't you think? Wigan look rattled.
A bloody well hope so
Bloody 'ell, do United not want to score today?
What's happening here. I have a choice between two matches!
I meant... I BLOODY WELL HOPE SO!!
Wolves seem to be playing eight at the back. Very congested for Citeh.
Morning John
There is no late game today. It is the Serie A
I know, Someone. I'm like a kid with advanced ADHD. Every time the ball goes out, I switch the channel. The missus is just sighing at me.
How did Wigan crush Villa?
Morning lads!
I have PICTURE IN PICTURE!!
Morning, WHR! Are you loving this?!
I'm watching Citeh. I want to see what a team that can spend 22 million on Lescott looks like without him.
I wish I was at Cheltenham
2-2 after 12 minutes
Surely not "Dave's a wa....?" Yes, I'm back and calling you Shirley. Morning, chaps.
I played 90 minutes this morning starting at 7:30. It's about 90 degrees with 90 humidity. I'm knackered.
I played 90 minutes this morning starting at 7:30. It's about 90 degrees with 90 humidity. I'm knackered.
You need an image for your profile, West Ham. May I suggest a classic Trevor Brooking pic 70s style with the mutton-chop sideburns?
COME ON UNITED!!!... West Ham and Leeds included
LEEDS SCORE
Morning, Gooner! What kind of reception do you think Kanu is getting at the Emirates?
Gooner?
Dave's a wa????
YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
Luciano Becchio, Luciano Becchio!
1-0! Becchio's second of the season.
Kanu always receives love when he returns to Arsenal. It helps that he was a Spurs killer in his day.
DW. Surely it doesn't mean that, Shirley.
I'm having a peek at Citeh for the same reason, Someone. Oh dear, SS is slightly ahead of ESPN.
SS said it was Bradley someone from a rebound from Becchio
Citeh score but FS haven't shown it. Sorry for ruining it
Adebayor
The Arse are up
Wahey. Eduardo cuts the back line up and sets up a ball that even Diaby couldn't put anywhere but in the back of the net. 1-0 to the Arsenal.
And there goes the goal in for Arsenal old boy Adebayor for Citeh. They're one up.
Arsenal in the lead too.
Adebayor scores for Citeh, 1-0
It really does
My apologies. The Leeds goal has been corrected to Bradley Johnson.
Roon called offside. He said he was in his own half. I don't think so
England up but 423
Blackburn 0-1 up at Sunderland. Lots of goals so far in the Prem.
Rovers are in the lead
Someone is two up
Who is Big nose following?
As SS goes off for a commercial break, you can hear Big Nose Phil screaming out "2-0!" I guess that means that the Arsenal are 2-0 up.
Fortune scores for Celtic. Great feed from Maloney! 1-0 over St. Johnstone
2-0. Their free kick is cleared and Arshavin passes to Fabregas, Cesc plays it forward to Diaby, and Diaby finishes for his second. Lovely flowing stuff.
COME ON UNITED!!!
Newcastle are two up
It is the Arse!
Diaby with his second
Celtic take the lead
Yes, it is. Diaby with his second. Arsenal are romping it. Pompey are is sad, sad shape as Chelskilad was saying earlier this morning. Phil Hart will have to go soon.
Thanks for the SPL coverage, Someone.
Pompey have fallen since they won the Cup
Did you guys see that Sky Sports News do show the goals on Saturdays?
Eduardo again dances through their defenders and the tap in somehow is smothered by James. And immediately he's back to put a telling ball through that Kaboul just whacks behind for the corner. Nothing comes of that. Manager Hart is losing his wick about something.
Good news for Bob
Colchester are losing
Great save Foster!!
Guess who's top of the heap in Division 1? Yes, indeed. "We're going up, we're going up, eeeayadeeoh, we're going up!"
The Canaries are 2-0 up now.
Wigan are coming into it
Come on!!
Blimey, that was a close call. Jason Koumis with a bender and well saved by Foster.
Horrible pass by Scholes!!
Oooh, Arshavin puts Cesc through in a crowd of defenders and Cesc instead of giving RVP the simplest of tap-ins tries to get it onto his favored right foot and is stopped.
Pompey counter attack and Kanu looks open but up jumps Vermaelen to intercept and start another attack.
I've never seen a United side play as much long ball stuff from the back as they are today.
Celtic are two up
They started so well too
Superb header by Maloney and a quality pass from McGeady puts Celtic up 2-0
Diaby does a Zidane whirlaround turn on the ball, nutmegs the next defender and makes James save! WTF?
And then, Eboue with a Bobby Moore tackle on Utaka.
It's Bizzaroworld in NW6!
David -- Give me a brief summary of what's going on in the cricket. Is is two test each and they are playing th fifth? If so, what is the strategy now? When will England declare?
United better get a win here
We have the Arse up next
Half an hour gone at the DW. You'd have to say that Wigan have the edge at the moment.
Great save by Kirkwood from Roon
Sunderland tie it up and it isn't Bent
To be fair, I could get a Bobby Moore tackle in on John Utaka. He's really fallen off the pace.
It's just raining chances here.
Cesc with a shot, then RVP with a better shot, and Arshavin dribbling into the box and just going for it from just too acute an angle.
Kenwyne Jones has equalized for Sunderland against Blackburn.
I wouldn't say Wigan are on top
Nice cross by Valencia. Roon tries to knock it back across the box. Cleared
Charlton take the lead in the game and the division
Merse has a look on his face that says, "Why do I always get the shite matches. Brum-Stoke? WTF, Jeff?!"
Boy ... that Wigan bloke should have had a go!
Still waiting for the cricket update, Davey!
Yeah, that's you. But Eboue? More to form, he slides into Utaka from behind in what looks to be a dreadful tackle that really deserved more punishment than just the ensuing free kick.
Krancjar has to bring Cesc down. RVP is lining up a very central free and... damn, hit well enough but James at full stretch gets a hand on it for a corner.
James with a good catch from the corner. He's keeping this from being a cricket score.
Norwich up by three already. They want to get those seven goals back
Leeds get their second
Beckford
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
Beckford with Leeds's second. His third of the season!
Pompey get a goal at the Emirates
St. Johnstone is making a match of it, 2-1
Hi Guys , I'm back in again for a while . Still don't know why I come up as Tony instead of Chelskilad . Pompey just scored !!!
274 for 7
England lead by 446
The Original Crewe have taken the lead
Pompey score. I loopy cross not dealt with at all from Almunia and Kaboul climbs above to score with his head.
The replay asks whether that was a foul. Possibly, but Almunia came very weakly for that so he should be asking himself a question rather than the ref.
GET IT OVER NANI!!
Pompey have pegged one back. Sorry, Gooner.
Hey Tony
Second replay shows that Kaboul did foul Almunia. He played the man before he made contact with the ball, but it's water under the bridge now.
Third replay shows that Almunia really should have attacked that cross and had all day to do so. Very poor and he knows it.
Given with a big save to keep it 1-0 Citeh.
Rooney's getting frustrated. He's starting to drop back into midfield and then running at the entire Wigan defense. Fergie's got to sort out the midfield. Where the hell's Hargreaves?
Welcome back, Chelskilad!
I noticed the same thing Bob
Cheltenham are drawing 3-3 with Bradford
Berbatov almost in
Bloody Titus
Hargreaves still has dodgy knees
We can cut Pompey up at will, but can't get past James with the regularity of the chances presented us. Eduardo to RVP, who rolls off his defender's shoulder, turns and really should have scored with a piledriving shot.
Highest 4th inning successful chase
418
England up by 451
Did anyone answer West Ham's cricket question ?
Half time at the DW
Scoreless
Not a happy chappy in NY
Half-time at Wigan. I'm sure you're not satisfied with that.
And again, RVP deep on the right turns and plays a cross over to Arshavin who is clear. Cross is too deep and it's cleared for a throw, but the ref says enough and it's half time.
Not entirely. Dave's been giving brief updates. But what do you think the proper strategy is.
As far as I know, it is the fifth test and it is tied 2-2 going into this one. Is that right? Come on, Dave. Give us the 411.
Half time at Elland Road. We're comfortably 2-0 up. I'm a very happy chappy. The goals are flowing through the usual suspects:
Beckford 3
Johnson 2
Becchio 1
Chumbawamba 1
1 - 1 , Two draws ,last test . England have to win . They will bat out as there are two days left after today .
I've just watched some creepy Italian ad. A guy in a tuxedo with big Mickey Mouse hands goes into a succession of bedrooms with couples writhing around in bed. He turns on the telly and the bloke sits up and starts watching serie A, and the tuxedoed man straitens his bow tie with his MM hands, and goes off to ruin another couple's sex life.
Oh, this is excellent. First half Arse goals on ESPN. Loving it.
Highlights at half-time from Arse. Tasty.
Thank you, Tony.
Dave, you are useless.
Nice, the Italian feed agrees that Kaboul fouled Almunia, but it still stands that he just waited for that cross to reach him rather than going to collect it.
Kirkland is doing for Wigan what James is going for Pompey according to these highlights.
So what's that Italian ad for - Serie A coverage? Disneyworld? Birth control?
Thanks, Tony!
Nice image, WHR! That's the ticket!
God knows. Maybe it's a reminder to check the locks before gettin' busy.
Have you seen the Kenwyn Jones goal? It's a treat.
My favorite ad of the moment is still the one with Carlton Palmer in the bath.
"Put some Chris DeBurgh on, then!"
Here's that ad again. OK, it's for Sky's SuperCalcio coverage.
Yeah, love that flat midlands accent he has too.
Ooh, it's Georgie Bingham on the ESPN coverage with Robbie Mustoe. Love her!
Mustoe wants to see some more Michael Owen. Not sure he's going to have that chance today. Wee Mikey was sheer rubbish in mid-week.
Teams are back out at Wigan. Ready for the second half.
FSC are still at commercial, well off the pace. Come on lads, get with the program!
And we're off
What question didn't I answer about the cricket?
United should have scored with a scramble
Pompey have had two big chances early in the second half. Arsenal have to wake up.
Big Phil thinks the Arse were lucky
What happened Gooner
Boy Arsenal were lucky there .
England coming out at 290 for 7 after lunch
Leading by 462
Man, that's close. Utaka and Gallas in a footrace which Utaka looks like winning. He goes down and the ref waves play on. Then Piccion? beats Gibbs and hits one into the side netting. No replay on the Utaka incident yet.
WHR asked you earlier for a full update on the Ashes. How many tests, who had won them, what the proper strategy for England is. You can still redeem yourself.
Norwich have been pegged back to 3-2
The Arse score a third!
Arsenal now 3-1 up!
Kaboul's goal has either stiffened Pompey or deflated us. I haven't decided which. We've been on top consistently but it's still game on.
CRICKET
England and Australia are tied at one test each
This is the final test
England need to win to regain the Ashes
Australia only need a draw to retain the Ashes
Third Day England well on top
That was a near thing. Rooney bundled over in the box. He got up looking for it but the ref didn't see anything to it. Fergie not happy.
Justin's let me down. I'm jammed up and didn't see our third but I'm guessing it was from the free kick that was the last piece of action before Justin flaked on me.
Norwich 4-2
I'd love to be at Carrow Road today with a donor kebab in me belly. It's 4-2 there.
Maloney with the brace and it's 3-1 Celtic.
What was Berbatov doing!!
He had a great change of pace and then gave it away
Try VSS, Gooner. I thought I saw a stream for that match on there earlier.
United don't look good
Celtic are four one up
Rooney's talking himself into the book now. Very frustrated.
Diaby had RVP in space, played a ball into him, and RVP scuffs it really wide.
Then RVP gets free, but the ball gets under his feet and he has to pass it to Eduardo who hits a tame one into James.
Fortune with his own pair and the rout is on at Parkhead. 4-1!
