Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Euro 2012 Groups

This slipped by me. The qualifying groups for Poland/Ukraine 2012 were announced yesterday.

Group A: Germany, Turkey, Austria, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan

Group B: Russia, Slovakia, Republic of Ireland, Macedonia, Armenia, Andorra

Group C: Italy, Serbia, Northern Ireland, Slovenia, Estonia, Faroe Islands

Group D: France, Romania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Belarus, Albania, Luxembourg

Group E: Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, Moldova, San Marino

Group F: Croatia, Greece, Israel, Latvia, Georgia, Malta

Group G: England, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Wales, Montenegro

Group H: Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Cyprus, Iceland

Group I: Spain, Czech Republic, Scotland, Lithuania, Liechtenstein

Dates and Times, TBA.

I can't see the team that troubles an England squad not full of numpties. Thoughts?

Also, am I the only one that thought that a more apt logo would be if there was a screw faucet on the line between Ukraine's badge and Poland's so that Ukraine could shut down their gas pipeline if people keep complaining that they're still miles away from having their stadia, transportation links, or hotels ready.

Thanks for the post, Gooner!

We had a bit of a chinwag about this yesterday. It had slipped by me too until Ian Darke mentioned it. I reckon that most groups are a stroll for the presumptive top teams. That is, Germany walks it in Group A, Italy in Group C, the Dutch in Group E, England in Group G, and Spain in Group I. The trickier ones are Group B, where I reckon Russia should come top but Slovakia and the Republic should run them close, Group D where France's recent form is dodgy, Group F where Croatia should probably come top and Group H (see Group D and France in relation to Portugal).

As we established yesterday, the two hosts qualify automatically, then the top 9 sides, the best 2nd place and then the remaining 8 sides play-off for the other 4 slots.

Damn I was going to buy a new Hummer in late 2012 and drive around the country for a vacation, Now I am going to have to shave my head and join the Hari.s, Muslims, Jews, Jehovah s, Mormons, Christians, and a few other wing nut groups just to cover all my bases.
