Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Have a lovely link for Soccer Saturday on Justin TV

Paul Merson thinks Villa should buy Pava from Spurs.
That would be good for both the player and club
What about United buying Chris Smalling from Fulham for NEXT season?
He has started TWO games in the Premiership
I hope SAF knows what he is doing
Cheers, mate! I appreciate the sentiment. We really need it too. It's time to stop the rot. Colchester at home today. We need the full three points.
My predictions for the top division today:
Brum 1 Spurs 2
Fulham 2 Villa 1
Hull 1 Wolves 0
Pool 2 Bolton 0
West Ham 2 Blackburn 0
Wigan 1 Everton 3
Burnley 0 Chelski 4
What do you think?
The Premier League Preview show has gone off - next up, the FSC preview show. We'll see what match they're setting up for at 10 am.
In the early kick-offs, Someone Said will be reasonably pleased by Celtic's away win at Hamilton Academicals.
Derby and Forest are deadlocked at 0-0 right now.
Brum v. Spurs would be my pick of the 10 am kick-offs but knowing FSC they'll go for Hull v. Wolves. We'll see.
I've just seen the replay of Landycakes' goal in mid-week. Nice stuff. Took it well off the chest and slotted home nicely. Well done to him.
This is definitely the most exciting championship race in years with three sides separated by three points at the top. And of course an epic race for that important fourth CL place.
Nice link for SS, Dave. Cheers!
I've just had a peek at the starting line-up for Leeds. Jason Crowe has been replaced by a kid named Shane Lowry. It's my first time seeing him in the lineup. Another youth prospect Gary McSheffrey has come in for Bradley Johnson. So Grayson is ringing the changes. Still - it's the dynamic due Beckford and Becchio up top. We need goals!
Hey Bob,
I am back from taking Shadow for a walk in the frozen tundra
Fulham vs Villa on ESPN2
Brimingham vs Spurs on FSC
Forest just let in a goal at Pride Park
I owe FSC an apology. They are showing Spurs v. Brum at 10 am. Nice choice, boys!
Hey, Dave! Shadow's a lucky boy. I'm not going anywhere near outside unless I have to today.
I did say that Leeds is the only team I wanted to win today. I take that back... I would also like the two Bs to win.... Burnley and Bolton
WHich match are you going to watch
ESPN2 or FSC?
Hi Guys .
Hope all is well .
Best wishes for today Bob .
Dave , I may have to consider a hex
on your lot .
Wow, you've been awake for ages and now you're just joining us!!
I can shoot it back at you!
Morning, Tony! Thanks for the best wishes.
Tony always did live the rock and roll lifestyle, right?
I have to read all the comments before I can join in .
You have to know what kind of hex it is before you can shoot it back .
Man u are not hex proof .
As long as the hex is off my boys, I don't care where it lands.
Nice to see all the goals from midweek on SS
Nice finish by Landycakes
I don't believe you just said that ROBERT!!
In other L1 action today, league leaders (albeit with two games more than Leeds) Norwich host Jeff Stellings' favorites Hartlepool and third placed Charlton relegation threatened Tranmere.
Getting a bit touchy aren't we Dave
Said what, DAVID?
I have the OT hex... which apparently I didn't take off yet
Of course it's Leeds old boy Rob Hulse who's scored the (so far) winner for Derby today. How many of our old boys will do that today? I should count them.
The new manager at the Worlington
Hall Hotel is an old Leeds supporter .
Looks like a nice day in the Midlands today. It's ruddy freezing here. 17F as I type.
Good on him!
I've got lots of memories of going to discos at the Worly Hall Hotel. Good times!
20-man brawl at Pride Park right at the final whistle. Wow!
Forest lose to Derby.... their first away loss
A bit of argy bargy at the end of the match
10 am kickoffs coming right up. Come on, you Whites. We'll need an early goal to settle the nerves!
Sicknote Ledley King back in the Spurs line-up. That's a turnup for the books.
To answer your earlier question, I'm watching the Spurs v. Brum match on FSC, even though it probably means that it'll be a dull nil-niller.
So, you have a Spurs and Leeds fans running the drinking establishments in Worlington!
I might watch Fulham Villa and root for Tony's lot
you're welcome bruv
Why not? Sounds good to me!
Fergie has said that tomorrow's match is the "Biggest Match of the Season." Do you believe that, Dave?
your nemesis Swindon take an early lead at Southend
Bentley tries a trademark volley from about forty yards. Nowhere close to the target.
Swindon are starting to become a bit of a threat, up into fifth now.
It is important because Chelsea could extend their lead by a lot
I still here everyone saying Chelsea at the ones.
United DOMINATED Chelsea at the Bridge.
We were the better team by far
Looking at the L1 table, it looks likely that both Norwich and Leeds (and maybe Charlton) will finish the season with 100+ points.
NOT Charlton
When I went in the hotel on Monday
there was a resident at the bar and
guess where he was from ? Manchester .
And yes he was United . Quite good
banter that night .
Agreed. I just think Chelski (and Citeh) have deeper squads because of the moneybags. Look at the effect that a couple of injuries has on United's (and Arsenal's) starting XI.
Useless shot by Zamora!
Why did he play a blinder against United and then have a shot that goes that horribly wide!
That bloke should stay!
Smalling is playing for Fulham
Don't get hurt
Colchester with the upper hand
What is going on???
I went without the lucky Leeds shirt on Tuesday and we were absolutely mullered. So the lucky Leeds shirt is back on today.
Crikey, Becchio's nearly scored an o.g.! Come on, lads - pull your fingers out!
I have the Fulham game on
You are watching Spurs? Is it behind SS?
ESPN is ahead of SS
Yeah - it's miles behind SS. I just heard a description of a Modric chance and still waiting to see it on the box. They're hopeless. I'd guess that we're two minutes behind.
Is Drogs back for Chelsea? Boy, did they miss him!!
JB's just put a shot wide. That sounds a bit better. Time to start clicking lads.
Is Ivory Coast out of the African Nation's?
Swindon are two up
Maybe you guys did well to hold them to three
Hull take the lead through your boy Venegoor of Hessilink. That's my prediction straight away.
Shut it!
It is already to the Final
Egypt vs Ghana
England's foe lost 4-0 to Egypt in the semis. They ended the game with 8 players
Hull beating Wolves
I was trying to make you feel better
Swindon was a tough game... it wasn't Exeter... that was last week
Thanks for the ACN round-up. I haven't been paying attention.
Me neither but is just has been on the Beeb website
Dave , I'm starving . Could you ask
Kathy If she would cook me something
Oh, Benitez should have scored. He was straight in on Gomez and shot tamely into the keeper's hands.
Too right, Tony. What's for lunch, Dave?
What do you want?
I just had some Cheese Whiz on toast
I had stuffed peppers last night... delicious!
You need to come over for the missus cooking
You wonder why am so fat
Carlisle now 1-0 up over Orient.
WBA take the lead from the spot
Yummers - I love stuffed peppers!
Glorious chance for Spurs... I should turn over and watch it!
Wycombe in the lead away to Bristol Rovers.
I guess I want Villa and Spurs both to win... Keep Costa down!
How are Pool still in fifth? They've been absolute rubbish this season.
Still haven't seen Spurs' chance
I thought that too... I can't believe they are still in touch
Well, no early goal for us. No matter - I'll take a goal right now, please.
Sheff Wed equalize as the reporter is there against Plymouth
Bolton nearly score at Pool.
Bugger, Bolton miss a one on one!
Dave , you are on thin ice
Huddersfield in the lead away to Yeovil. That puts them up into the playoff spots.
Mickey Doyle tries a pop but the tubby Colchester keeper saves.
WHy am I on thin ice?
Because you were out walking Shadow in the tundra!
Boom boom!
Your Villa Comment !!!
Hartlepool take the lead at Carrow Road!!!
Bugger... one one!
And Norwich equalize straight away. 1-1.
Classic SS stuff!!!!
The boys having a real go at Jeff over that one.
Colchester seem to have the slight edge right now. Come on!
Norwich will play another L1 match in mid-week when we're playing Spurs in the Cup, so we'll have three games to make up on them!
Crystal Palace take the lead against Peterboro.
Palace just plummeted into at relegation struggle after being docked 10 points for going into administration.
SAF is at Craven Cottage watching the match.
I guess he is watching our new boy!
Dave
Still no retraction of you Villa comment ?
Bugger! Norwich score a second. They're up to 63 points, now five ahead of us. We need a goal!
great cross by Ashley Young, great header but great save
Norwich take the lead
The FSC jinx still on - no goals at St. Andrews.
Jozy Altidore giving the Wolves defenders trouble. That's good to hear. Phil Brown's just bought Amir Zaki, so I thought he might have given up on Jozy.
ONE goal in the Prem
ooh, Brad F almost spills a shot but just gets back to the ball
A goal at Anfield... bugger... to Costa
Dirk Kuyt scores for Pool.
YES!!!!!!!
JB from the spot... Leeds are back Leeds are back
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!
1-0 Leeds. JB from the penalty spot.
LEEDS. ARE. BACK!
Another great save by Friedel but it was offside anyway
JB's 23rd of the season. Sounds like a dodgy old penalty but I don't care.
Villa take the lead
Heskey with a header
sorry tony
That puts us five clear of Charlton. I believe that we still have at least one goal in hand on them as well.
Smalling beaten by Heskey for the header
not a good sign for next season!
Like a London bus
No goals and then two come along at once
Everything this bloke does is going to be mentioned with United next season
I don't like this join later. Buy him for now!
Free kick chance for Fulham
Swindon now up into fourth because of that JB penalty. Colchester slip to fifth.
Murphy hits one wide
It was Agbonlahor not Heskey with the goal
Two nil to Villa
Sounds like Snoddy's starting to turn it on. Shot just turned round the post by the tubby Colchester keeper.
1544: I sense a theme developing... Football League Danny: "Leeds 1-0 Colchester. Unstoppable goal machine Jermaine Beckford from the penalty spot. Top two in League One are both winning and third-placed Charlton (currently 0-0 with Tranmere) will be worried about falling off the pace."
Half time in the FSC game. No surprises there. 0-0, of course.
FSC back on for the second half. They're miles behind the action now, starting up at 11:04. WTF?
back from Vacuuming.
Games underway again
Have you complained to them?
I'd love to see Leeds push on for a second goal, but I'm not greedy. 1-0 will do. A win is a win is a win. Three points is all I need. Lucky Leeds shirt still on, awaiting instructions.
We will see how it goes for a while before instructions are given
Nah, if you complain, nothing happens. Might as well not bother. And when are we going to have a fine day....?
And my back hurts...
I'm sick and tired of this office
Pienarr... best player on the pitch!!
Wolves tie it up
Oh, Bentley should have potted that one. Totally scuffed his shot. He's hopeless. I can't believe anyone ever thought he'd play for England.
Millwall take the lead at Brighton
My first cousin's son is playing with the Maidstone United youth team. Chris Smalling is a product of Maidstone. His signing by Man United is the talk of the town.
No changes for either side at Elland Road in the second half.
Morning, Trev!
Morning John. Thanks for that fact out of the air!
There's a penalty somewhere?
Hull get the penalty
2-1
Jozy's won the penalty for Hull. Nice one. Hunt steps up and....
2-1 Hull!
MK Dons take the lead against Exeter
Costa miss a sitter
Crouchie with a hilarious miss there. All he had to do is knock it home with his left peg. For someone reason he hit it with his right, scuffing it while he's falling over. One for the blooper reel.
It's all Colchester in the second half at Elland Road. I'm not liking it at all.
Trannmere have taken the lead away to Charlton! Lovely jubbly!
YES... Charlton are losing
Tranmere's only shot results in a goal
Blackburn are down to ten men. Brett Ormerod sent off there.
Still behind the times on FSC?
YES!!
JB gets a second
YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
2-0 Leeds!
JB with his second and 24th of the season. Sounds like a bobbly tap in but I don't care.
Where are you Bob?
Dean Windass is hilarious!
Three points in the bag... now beat the Spurs
I'm right here in Fredonia, Dave. Why?
I beat you to the punch with JB's second!
Too busy running around your place?
Banjo Boy picks up a useful free kick right in the D. Could be interesting.
In League One, Charlton have slipped 1-0 down at home to Tranmere after Sam Sodje's own goal. The third-placed Addicks are wobbling, no doubt."
Yeah - something like that.
Come on Hartlepool!!
Did you know that, in the day of Brian Clough playing for them, they were called Hartlepools... wonder why?
Interesting. Sam Sodje was on loan with us last season. Now he's helping us out with an own goal for Tranmere. A conspiracy?
Have I told you that I really dislike Jermaine Defoe??
I think he is a ball hog!!
I did not know that. You are the master of facts that no one else knows, Dave.
Great bit on Ryan Giggs on Sky
Don't strikers all need to be ball hogs?
Just call me Cliff Clavin
Bugger.. Charlton tie it up
Banjo's been hauled off by Alex McLeish. Don't know why.
The Tractor Roys losing at Preston
Wee Fergie beating Roy
Sotton take the lead
Well, I can't be greedy. If we pick up two points on them today, I'll be happy. Would love a Hartlepool equalizer right about now.
Let it be done... James Brown... knock one in
Gordon Bennett
Kilmarnock 4 Dundee United 4
Just like Forfar 5 East Fife 4
These guys like to put that E sound at the end of the Jozy's name
Spurs score through Defoe.... on FSC before SS
GOAL! It's that ball hog Jermaine Defoe who sticks it in for Spurs after a header on from Crouchie.
0-1 Spurs!
Wolves tie it up too
Still don't like Defoe
Bugger.... Costa double their lead!
Liverpool go 2-0 up. Sounds like a jammy deflected goal. Probably an o.g. off Kevin Davies.
Palace two up
Have you ever been to Selhurst Park?
I never did, which is surprising because my Aunt and Uncle lived very close. I know Tony and Mike went there and saw Dave Swindlehurst play pathetically. He never lived it down in the Nocito house
The Saints are 2-0 up now. Still mired in mid-table, though. After they reduced their deficit, I thought that they might go on to push for the playoff spots. Not so far.
EVERYTHING is unbelievable to Chris K
Brum could have scored there
Phil Big Nose really wants Spurs to concede a goal... wonder why!!1
Yeah - twice. I saw Leeds there once with my brother and Dad. It was 0-0 right up to the end. My Dad wanted to beat the traffic out and Eddie Gray scored the winner in stoppage time.
Then in the summer of 1983, I saw a big concert with Kevin Brynie there. Thompson Twins, Undertones and Peter Gabriel headlining. Good times.
I am sure you cursed your dad for that one
I'm sure I did.
Bradley Johnson has come on for debutant Shane Lowrey.
Everton get a goal disallowed
Never should have been
Again, unbelievable for Chris
Brum go just wide
They are starting to press Spurs
Oh, McFadden should have hit the target. Brum are still in this one.
Defoe, don't like him, is coming off for Keano
Here comes Robbie Keane on for the ball hog.
Do you guys have one or two games in hand on Norwich?
I think it's still two games in hand.
Under ten to go around the country... well not at Burnley
