Leeds v. Spurs Live!
The glory days are back at Elland Road, with Spurs coming into Leeds today for the FA Cup 4th round replay. My heart says that we have a chance today after a heartening win at the weekend. But my brain says that we should probably lose as our resources are too stretched at this point. We'll see which wins out from 2:45 pm EST onward. Join me!

Hi Guys .
I thought I had better post this now
as I will be watching the game down the pub tonight . Though I will read the comments when I get home . The pub is normally a Tottenham pub but the landlord is on holiday so I might secretly support Leeds .
Best of luck Bob . Hope the night goes well for you .
Read you guys later .
"Oh when the Whites, come marchin in, oh when the Whites, come marchin in, oh I want to be in the numbers, when the Whites come marchin in!"
Cheers, lads. I appreciate the support, secret or not. Come on, you Whites!
The excitement is building - well, at least at 70 Greco Lane, where I've been leaping about to the Leeds United Calypso for the past half hour.
The preview show is starting up on FSC and I can't wait!
Elland Road looking brilliant tonight. We haven't had enough big Cup nights in recent years, so even though it looks cold as balls in Yorkshire tonight, the faithful won't mind.
The starting XI for Leeds tonight:
1. Casper Ankergren
26. Leigh Bromby
6. Richard Naylor
17. Lubomir Michalik
22. Andy Hughes
14. Jonathan Howson
4. Michael Doyle
16. Bradley Johnson
23. Robert Snodgrass
9. Jermaine Beckford
10. Luciano Becchio
So Grayson's sticking with the 4-4-2 with Becchio providing JB with some company up front, Snoddy out wide left and Brad Johnson bombing down the middle.
Marching on together!
Paste one on those cocks Bob.
The Spurs starting XI:
1. Heurelho Gomes
22. Vedran Corluka
20. Michael Dawson
19. Sebastien Bassong
3. Gareth Bale
5. David Bentley
6. Tom Huddlestone
8. Jermaine Jenas
21. Niko Kranjcar
15. Peter Crouch
18. Jermain Defoe
Looks like an almost full-strength Spurs side to me. Interestingly, with Aaron Lennon and Jon Woodgate out injured and Robbie Keane on his way to Celtic, there are no Leeds old boys in the Spurs side tonight.
Cheers, Gooner!
Teams in the tunnel while Nick Webster is proving conclusively that he's the bloody Spurs fan by big upping Fatty Huddlestone.
We are so proud; we'll shout it out loud - we love you Leeds Leeds Leeds!
Kickoff time! Suprs to get us underway in their blue change strip. The Whites are in resplendent white tonight as Don Revie (RIP) would have it.
The pitch, which has a fresh dusting of frost and snow on it reminds of the 70s era bogs, so that's a positive omen.
We are so proud; we'll shout it out loud - we love you Leeds Leeds Leeds!
I'm at home enjoying an extended lunch and the first half. At half time I've got to jump in the car and buzz over to class. The lucky Leeds shirt is on for the first half then and I'm awaiting instructions from "Nostradave-us" as to what to do with it for the second half.
I'm at work. Who has a link?
The Spurs midfield are controlling possession in the early stages but we're clearing our lines well.
Here's a good stream for the ITV coverage, Trev:
http://livevss.net/channel1.php
Bentley lining up a free here.
Deflected off the wall and out for a corner.
I don't like that. A free strike there for Bassong from the corner and fortunately he ballooned it over the top.
Cheers
Ten minutes in and there's only that Jon Howson shot over the top to warm the home crowd.
These commentators need to shut it!
Jermain Defoe strikes one just wide. I'm not enjoying this at all. Pins and needles.
Good bit of pressure leads to Mickey Doyle taking a pop at Gomes.
A really poor free kick in there. Wasted by Snoddy.
Becchio is noticeably deeper tonight, playing in the gap behind JB.
A quarter of an hour gone and still no breakthrough. We've done better in the past five minutes.
Long throw from Leigh Brombly coming up but it leads to a foul on Gomes. The ball in was too close to the keeper.
Great noise from the crowd now with lots of scarves being waved about.
Great atmosphere. Messy conditions.
Brad Johnson catches Bentley out wide right. Free kick to come in a dangerous area.
Joe "Judas" Jordan on the Spurs bench tonight.
Nice run from Snoddy there but it was broken up in the last moment.
Jesus - Defoe in one on one with big Casper who did so well deflecting it out.
Bloody Hell, that was close.
That was a real let off. Naylor totally lost his man there and Defoe was definitely on side running in.
Hey Bob,
I am finally here
Are you at work or at home watching it on FSC?
FSC has Martin Tyler at the Mic.
How has it gone so far?
The field looks a little cut up? Has it been raining?
Hi John
Deflected!!
What a save!
Bloody hell, is right, Trev. My heart was in my mouth there.
And again! Brill save by Casper!
Hey, Dave! Welcome! I'm at home for the first half watching on FSC. I'm off at half-time for class.
Spurs have had the better chances including a one-on-one for Defoe just a moment ago. But we've done reasonably well and had some decent possession at times.
Have Spurs been on top?
Just like the first game
Fulham and Pompey are playing in the Prem too
Snoddy's passing has been woeful today.
Wow, you have to leave!!
Do you have a phone with text? I will text you the score
JB and Becchio nearly linking up there. They still don't quite seem on the same wavelength yet.
The problem there for Tottenham was they played the ball in to Crouch's feet.
Nah - I'm going to run over during the half, set up the classroom and then pop down to my computer. Class starts at 5 so I should be able to follow it unless it goes to extra time and pens. Hope not!
Phew.. no foul!
That would have been a red!!
The referee helped us out there. Could have been a red there for Michalik. That didn't look good.
Half an hour gone - still 0-0. Pins and needles.
I think it was a foul but I think Defoe could have stayed up!
I hate him!
Again - Snoddy had a great opportunity there but the ball forward was horrible.
You're right - Jermain's rep proceeds him. He was too easy to go down.
Get stuffed, Harry!
Do you think that the pitch looks that good?
Defoe still yappin... book him ref
Not at all - it reminds me of the pitches in the 70s. It might be a good omen for us, though, to bring back the Revie memories.
Defoe is sick of the sight of Ankergren. Another great save from him.
Let's hope it ends the same way
returnof50phead on 606: "Another huge stroke of luck for Leeds. I haven't seen this much luck for one team on a cup run since Liverpool's champions league run in 2005!"
Were you surprised that Robbie Keane went to Celtic? I was.
Get stuffed Return of 50 p head!
Right - should the lucky Leeds shirt come off now, Dave?
Bugger... Sorry mate
Lucky finish but why was he so wide open in the box?
Well, same as the first match
Let's get it back now. Free kick time.
Dung! Complete mis-hit.
NEVER should have been warned
ooh, almost an immediate response!
Finally a great ball in from Snoddy and Michalik put a header on goal. Good save from Gomes.
"Never should have been warned?" Does that mean take the shirt off?
Your left back was beating too easily for the cross for the goal
Was that a foul in the box?
I'll take another penalty from Dawson tonight, ta very much.
Yes it does
Never should have been worn
Getting their chances now
Right then - it's coming off then!
Good to see JB still at ER. I didn't there was any chance of him staying during LAST January's window!
You guys get promoted and why would he go to another Championship club
THis is just like the last game
All Leeds now
If Snoddy went down it was a pen!
1 added minute
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE CALLED BACK!!
NOt offside!
YESSSS!!!!
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!
Becchio! He runs to the camera after scoring and I'm giving him a big kiss!
1-1!
NAME ON THE TROPHY
Great shot by JB for the goal
Half time
Well done mate
Defoe still crying to the ref
Half-time: It's game back on!
I'm off to work and will touch base with you in a few minutes.
ITV show that Becchio was offside for the first chip with a few more players but JB was not. As the shot came in from JB Bechchio wasn't in an offside position
What a lucky strike from horrible Defoe
If he hit it well, it would have been blocked by three players
Two things about your previous comments.
Yes, I was surprised about Keane. It was Crouch that was the odd one out and all of a sudden Keane is up North!
As for you Return of 50P.... Costa WON the Cup!
Teams are out for the second half
Come on Leeds
FSC ahead of my ITV link
Second half getting kicked off here. Andy Townshend thinks we can do it. I hope so!
Pompey go to half scoreless at the Cottage
Take the ball with you son
Did Leeds win the toss?
Hit over by Defoe
STOP HIM!!!
I'll delay my comments because the TV is ahead of my link
Not exactly a great clearance by Casper there
I'm not sure. Spurs kicked off so perhaps we wanted to attack the Kop end in the second half like United or Pool.
I agree about Defoe. Someone needs to nobble - without getting sent off!
That's would be my guess!!
Struth that was close!!
Whew! Heart attack time again. They're getting far too close!
oooh, deflected and almost in by JB!!
Scramble in the box
Get a foot or head on the ball!
WHEN you guys win... don't lose to BOLTON!
Do better with the header!!!!!
Lorimer on the radio from the stands
What a thunderbolt he had for a shot
Just read Tony's comment from the beginning
Why aren't you watching it at the Worly?
Leeds fan, right?
Another great save by Casper
Bentley in the book
Spurs with possession now
Come on Leeds, get your foot on the ball
Under 30 to go
Another great save from big Casper from Bentley this time. We're just about hanging on. Great cut and thrust to this match. Classic cup tie action!
Spurs still turning the screw
Bentley with a shot turned over
Leeds did better in the first match in the second half
COME ON LEEDS
I can't believe I am supporting Leeds United!
Fox Soccer Channel Plus coming March 1
Wonder what that is?
Let's hope it's not Max Bretos in HD!
Twenty five plus to go now....
Ball in the net BUT... OFFSIDE!!!!
HE IS!!
Phew! Disallowed goal for Defoe. Offside - good decision!~
That was stupid by Defoe... I hate him... just keep behind the defender!
We've had a lot of let-offs in this match!
Name on the trophy
Do you hate, Defoe, Dave?
You did in the first match too during before you scored your first goal
Another save from Ankergren and Defoe looks a bit baffled at this point. Yank him off, Harry!
Just a bit.. the ball hog!
We're giving the ball away far too easily.
Yank him off and don't replace him... that will prove your point!
I don't even want to think about extra time, let alone pens!
What's MOT
What was that banner? "You can get rid of us but....?"
"Made 'Orrible Tea" lad!
Ministry of Tadpoles?
ahhh, the penny dropped
March On Together?
Great saving tackle off of Defoe's feet
Bugger.. it is that Bugger again!
It said you CAN'T get rid of us
Leeds time
Fifteen to go
Plenty of time
Bugger - I've just come down from the classroom and we're behind again.
Cheers, mate. Definitely our time to shine again. Can we pull off the miracle again? Fifteen minutes to find out.
Easy
After all, JB hasn't scored yet!
Route 1's not going to break them down. We need to keep playing our football like we did in the first match.
They definitely haven't played as well as the first match
Spurs spraying it about for fun now. We need to summon up the energy to close them down.
Yet....
JB will have chance
Ten minutes left to get the equalizer.
Come on, you Whites!
Bradley Johnson finally picks up his yellow. That was coming.
JB dropping a wee bit to deep for my taste.
Get some possession
JB in the book
Too many balls not being played to feet. And there's a yellow for JB. Striker's tackle.
Latest scores
Fulham 0 Pompey 0
Blackpool 2 WBA 2
Bloody Defoe!
Did you know I hate him?
Spurs fans finally waking up and making a bit of noise in the 83rd minute.
Sing when you're winning....!
I think I do - and I agree!
oooh
Crouch off the crossbar
Oooh, Crouchie off the top of the bar and out. Phew! Almost game over.
Too much long ball shite. Come on!
Where's your Yank Super Sub
Here he is
Why bring on a right back, Simon!?
That's better - Mike Grella on. Supersub - come on, you Yank!
Any chance of him making the WC squad?
Less than five now..... This is painful.
Still didn't score for another 8 minutes from the first match
If we score now, I'm going to scare the crap out of my colleagues who think I'm a mild-mannered public servant.
STOP FOULING!! Stupid foul to give away... daft
That's assuming that we'll get six minutes plus of stoppage time.
Be prepared to be scared coleagues
Free kick chance for the Whites
Handball, Corluca. Here's a chance.
Ooooh, over the top from Bromby. Not too far away. It was a good ball over.
Probably should have done better and kept it down.
Into 4 added minutes
Nearly into stoppage time now. Desperation stations.
Not enough....
There's still time
"How are your nerves," the ITV commentator asks? You can imagine!
WBA take a late lead
They will go second
I can...
Leeds can't get it down the other end!
Just lost the feed. Boy that's a fun way to spend the afternoon.
LEEDS TIME!!!
Cheers, Trev!
Here come the Whites!
Sorry Mate
I HATE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WIN THE BLOODY LEAGUE!!!!!!!!
That's it - Defoe's hat-trick. Hate. Him!
Right then. The brain wins out today. It's all focus on the league. Three points away to Hartlepool on Saturday. That's the priority now.
Now, I've got to run upstairs and talk classroom management with my student teachers.
Cheerio!
It was a great run
You should be proud
Have a good class
Talk to you on the weekend
UWS
Bad luck Bob.
Bleedin harry redknapp, can't stand the geezer!
Ta Ta
That last comment was from brother Mike
